Good afternoon everyone! Yesterday was XT Bis and Tris plus Core #2. I have to say, I like Core #1 much better.

I found an altered version of Jamie E.'s carrot cake protein bars online. Once I eat the last batch I made, I will definitely be giving those a try. I like Jamie's but they taste more like pumpkin than carrots. Jennifer, definitely let us know how the lemon bars came out!

DH has been lifting heavy for years now. It's me that's the newbie to weight training. He took a few years off when we had Bella, and I pretty much forced him to go back. I'm not sure if he thinks it's a waste of time for women to lift heavy or not :confused:. He thinks I can get results by lifting 3lb'ers for the rest of my life :rolleyes:.

The thing with the barbell is that I can only lift so much over my head (around 45lbs or so). I can use my vest, but honestly, I find it a bit time consuming and cumbersome to put it on/take it off repeatedly during my w/o.
No DH is not the hulk :D. He is very strong though and has a typical mesomorph physique. His *goal* :rolleyes: is to look like Tom Hardy from Batman. He has a slight "man crush" on him lol :D.
How did the lemon bars turn out? What kinds of vanilla whey did you use?
Speaking of recipes, I have seen so many on BB.com that I want to try. Did you see the cauliflower crust pizza?

Ya, right back at ya with the forearm strength :mad:. I'm gonna buy those wrist straps and see if they help. It might be "cheating" but I really don't give a hootie hoot!



Today's w/o was XT CBS. I think my shoulder's and rear delts are getting stronger! I remember struggling with 15lbs overhead presses, and now I think I can increase my weight! Also, I matched Cathe with the 1 arm lateral raise, and even bumped it to 10lbs for the 2nd set (she stayed at 8lbs but actually said she should have gone heavier). I am going to try and get DH's buddy to give him back his 30lbs so I can use them for the 1 arms rows. I can't believe he gave his 25lbs and 30lbs to his friends!!! I got the 25lbs back, so now I'm on a mission to get the 30lbs :eek:.

Good morning ladies! Last night was a feeble attempt at Low Max. Neither my neighbor nor I were into working out last night so we called it quits after a couple of combos.

Lots of people think that women should use high weights for some reason. I hope you can get those 30lb dumbbellls back soon! I'm very curious about the wrist straps. Definitely lets us know if those help with the forearms.

Oh and no work hasn't slowed down yet. I am actually queasy right now from lack sleep. I think I have averaged about 4.5 hours a night since Sunday night. I am exhausted.

Well I did it. I bought those pink Everlast gloves from Amazon.ca :eek:. Can't wait to try out Hard Strikes with them!

Bella is still feeling a bit sick, but she's getting better. Thanks everyone for asking how she's doing :). I have a cold now though :mad: which is fine just as long as I don't get a fever. While she was lying on the couch today, I went and checked out some youtube step vids from Stomp FX (I put the link on OD). OMG so much fun! I was able to squeeze in 3 short w/o's and let me tell ya, I had a great little sweat going. I *heart* step :).

Tonight's w/o is going to be XT BS Bi's & Tri's when Bella goes to sleep.

Yesterday I did not do a w/o. I was just too tired. I watched some 30Rock on Netflix when Bella went to sleep. Laughter is truly the best medicine :D.

Thanks so much for the link! I really liked the blog and the recipes. I actually made some protein puffs today and they turned out pretty tasty despite me not having that Guar Gum (?) stuff, and cream of tarter.
I give up on trying to explain to everyone why heavy weights are beneficial for women :rolleyes:.

Sorry you and your neighbor weren't in the mood for Low max (one of my favs!).

Any ideas on how much longer these long work days/nights will last? I chuckled when you wrote that you were off to get some coffee:) I like the bold flavors but don't really get into the fancy drinks. I do occasionally get a Red Eye which is a shot of espresso in my coffee. A Black Eye has 2 shots! I'm not sure I could handle that one. Seattle's Best and Starbucks are my favorite brands, but honestly I think the Yuban brand at the grocery store also has good flavor.

Jennifer---no super bowl party here. We are Redskins fan even though I live in MD. I am cheering for the Ravens. Congrats to you for getting in on the RT. I am excited and nervous. My coworkers are just thrilled. They act like I won a contest----I told them that it feels like I have even though I have to pay for this trip:). I think I'm going to take the train. I don't want to drive.

No workouts for me this weekend. DH and I went to a friends retirement party last night. It was nice. I wore an off shoulder black and white dress I got during the summer and never wore. It was nice to have a chance to wear it.
 
Hello everyone :) Friday was SuperCuts + 100 RC hip thrusts 22#. That is my second time with the workout. Love that workout. It's super functional. I didn't do rear delts this week because I've done the upper body in Turbo Barre and also the upper body work in SuperCuts.

Saturday was rest and today was Turbo Barre. The workout was better today, which is a good and bad thing. My back was less strained, so my legs worked more. I feel it a lot more today than last week for sure.

I along with many other people stayed up late watching the super bowl. I didn't wake up til 5:30 but I rushed to get in Burn Sets Bi's and Tri's which is not a long workout.

I can't believe that first commercial in the superbowl when the guy and the lady where kissing. So nasty and inappropriate when they know so many kids are watching tv. It was the way they were kissing---I couldn't believe it and for it to be the first commercial.

Gotta run since I am behind schedule.

You know how I told you guys about a youtube w/o I found called Stomp FX? Well it is actually comprised of an entire series called Fitness Fx: https://www.fitness-fx.com/. I rarely say that I am extremely interested in w/o's (unless it's Cathe of course) but this entire series looks incredible :eek:. I want them all! I MUST have them :eek:. I plan on doing more youtube w/o's of the entire FX series (Groove FX would be totally out of my comfort zone :eek: but I am gonna give it a try!). I have to look into the w/o's and see if I can purchase downloads. The series is from the UK, and I know I'm gonna get hit hard with duty fee's if I order DVD's :mad:.

I'm kinda late in responding, but no I'm not a football fan. My cousin's however love football. My one cousin is a huge Packer's fan. He even bought a little Jersey for his newborn baby girl!

Good morning ladies! Friday was the cardio portion of Hard Strikes. My neighbor actually said that is her favorite workout so far. I admit I like it too but for some reason it kills the bottom of my feet. I have no clue why. Saturday was a rest day and Sunday was Bis and Tris.

I was really fired up last night. Despite working 65 hours last week, my boss sent out a nasty email to all of us saying that we aren't taking our deadlines seriously. I had told him since last Monday that I would not make my deadline. This tasks wasn't even supposed to be mine -- it was given to me because a coworker worked on it for two months and was unable to make much headway on it. I was give a whooping four days to complete it. It's complete madness here right now. We have a team meeting in 45 minutes where he has already stated he is going yell at us. I'm really looking forwards to that :rolleyes:!

How as the super bowl party? I tried out the dip that was in Cathe's newsletter and it was bad. I was wondering if you had made it too.

I really want to do all of LowMax but my neighbor simply can't handle it. I am dying for work to slow down so that I can do more of the things I want to do (like workouts).

I nearly made the cinnamon rolls that you posted in the forum this weekend. They look pretty tasty! I was thinking of changing the frosting though to use the cream cheese one that Jamie E. uses for the coconut cupcakes.

I love Supercuts too! Even that killer pushup/situp combo at the end. It's a near perfect workout. It has a little bit of everything without the huge dread factor. Congrats on improving with TB too! :D

Good morning!
This morning I wanted to incinerate major calories so I did To The Max. I was going for the Extreme premix but I just didn't have it in me to do the Fitness Tabata. Partly because of all the jumping that was already in the first part of the workout and partly because by then I just didn't have it in me!

Sunday I was a cleaning freak - I mean, I got down and dirty and into it:eek: Suddenly I was noticing that parts of some walls were dirty and then I moved on to the doors and door frames! After my hours of cleaning and detailing I had to start on the food... So, no time for Low Max but that's okay.

The party was a lot of fun but I didn't get to watch ANY of the game; I'm not real into it anyway but I do like to see some good plays. I didn't get to see ANY of the commercials, either. However, Craig records the game every year specifically so we can watch it together the next day (today). And yes, I took a Floating Holiday today so I'm off work:D

I'm jealous that you can workout to Utube videos, by the way! We have a couple TVs that are connected but my workout TV is not. Maybe one of these days:cool:

Hello everyone!! Well my fitness ADD has kicked in and I've switched around my rotation for the next month. While I like XTrain, I really feel like I need some more cardio in my life right now. I stepped on the scale a bit heavy today, which means I need a bit more intense cardio in my life. On a good note, I believe some portion of the increased weight is water(TTOM) and also some muscle :) My legs are super firm even with a bit of fat on them, so I'm pleased with that. DH actually LOVES where I'm at weight wise right now, which is always a positive. Rotation for the next four weeks will be something like:

Sun: Turbo Barre
Mon: Some High Impact HiiT
Tue: UB Heavy Lifting
Wed: Some Low Impact HiiT
Thur: Kickboxing
Fri: TB circuit

I'm hoping this will give me some extra calorie burn plus allow me to keep my muscle I've been working on. Today was TTM and I can tell my cardio capacity has slipped a bit, so it was nice to get back to some high impact intense cardio today.

Don't you just love the meetings specifically set up to 'yell at you' :rolleyes: Here's an idea...how about setting a realistic deadline to begin with. Or how about asking: How can I help you reach this silly deadline that I've imposed on you? Or better yet, how about: Let me just go in my office and be quiet so you can work instead of sucking up valuable time 'yelling at you'. Ok, stepping off my soap box now :) Hope your day and week gets better.

I didn't see the commercial, but I'm sure I would agree with you also. TV is out of control these days. From inappropriateness to stuff that just atrophies the brain. Reality TV springs to the top of the list for me.

I finally got to watch the game and commercials - some of the plays were amazing! It was a really close game which is always exciting:) I'm glad no one got seriously injured.

Stacie -- I am so sorry to hear you didn't like the dip.
That's disappointing and too expensive to just waste:( I did make that Game Day dip and loved it but I didn't use the picante. Instead I used a Black Bean and Corn Salsa. The dip reminded me of a dip made with Harry and David's Pepper and Onion Relish which is practically to die for if you like sweet and spicy. I was wondering how it would taste with Salsa Verde, actually!

I really hope your meeting didn't end up being as bad as your boss said it was going to be. He seriously needs to realize that you all are doing the best you can and that the deadlines are simply just impossible to meet - and that you DID give him advanced notice about it:mad: I've got my fingers and toes crossed that this mess is all over with soon and you can get back to what's really important to you... sleep, Tyler, and working out, and working normal hours!

Heartymax -- You look stunning! Plus, the necklace is gorgeous and matches your dress perfectly! I could only see one picture, not both of them. Did you post them to your profile page? Maybe I can see the 2nd one there.

Oh - about that commercial. It's the Go Daddy.COM one I believe, and I see what you mean... they were sucking face pretty big. The Jack In the Box commercial - which is on the air normally - to me is definitely inappropriate! Where the girl is about to flash him and they blur out her chest. I mean, okay, I see the humor in it but come ON! I just think it's too mature for a young audience - especially for a fast food chain. I may be a little old fashioned but when 12 year olds are getting pregnant maybe the times are going too fast for these kids!

Toni -- your workout for the week sounds great! It great to be firm and at a good weight, and I can relate to the need for cardio.

As for the Cap weight A-frame, it's awesome except some of my weights don't fit it too well because I didn't buy the weights as a set - they are just separates that I picked up along my fitness journey.

I'm not sure if you can really tell in the picture but in front of the tall, white A-frame there is a much smaller one right in front of it... that one has the heavy weights - 25, 30, and 35 pounds; you may see part of a big weight in the picture. Anyway, I'm just mentioning it because the 2 A-frames really work well together. But obviously if you can get a nice big one like Cathe has in her sets then I'd do that:D

Any more thoughts on a spin bike?
 
Just a quick updated before heading over to the neighbor's house to workout out.

The meeting today went better than I expected. I think it helped that he had the night to cool off. I also went to my direct manager and told him what happened. I like the manager of the project but at the same time I am at the end of my rope with working all these hours. I finally got it through to him that I would not be making my insane deadline today. I don't have much longer though to do the work -- just until the 7th.

I'm sorry...I mistyped about the dip. I meant that it wasn't bad. I don't think I used the best salsa. The salsa was only so so outside of the dip. I did use some of the dip later in the day on a baked potato and that was pretty tasty! If you have any left, you might want to try that!

You were so right about everything you said! This project was extremely compressed. With such a short schedule, it is a sheer miracle that it got done. I am scared now that since we were able to pull something off this time that this type of schedule will become the norm.

I was thinking about you the other day and how you are on the other side of the IT fence. Despite this craziness, I think your job is more stressful than mine. No one ever calls your area to say thanks -- only to complain!
