Push It

Hello!! I'm up early to get my workout in before we have to leave for Jasmine's cheerleading competition. I didn't want to push my schedule an entire day and I also didn't want to pretend that I would workout after the competition. Just wouldn't happen!!

Today was the dreaded Turbo Barre. I have had that workout for months and have been dreading it for months. Now that I've FINALLY done it, it actually wasn't that bad :) Could I do every rep, nope. But I was certainly pleased with what I was able to accomplish. I felt it was a good starting point and I will be able to do everything after about a month :) I was also surprised at how complete the workout was. My entire body really feels worked. I picked this workout today because I didn't want to be too wiped out going into a full day of screaming little girls, but I'm not sure that strategy is going to hold water. We will see.

Stacie
Do you work in IT? I do, and your job sounds like some of the stuff that goes on in my shop as well. Mistakes are common when working long hours and tired. Don't beat yourself up too much :)

This may sound mean, but if people want to leave the forum then they should go. We are all grown and able to decide what we want to deal with. A forum or any other sort of social media shouldn't cause stress drama or upset. If leaving prevents that for someone, then maybe that's the best option. I didn't really get why the topic needed to be dramatic to the point of anyone leaving though. So I guess I agree from that stand point.

Jennifer
Good job on de-cluttering. A house is so much easier to keep clean when there isn't a bunch of extra stuff laying around!! But it is hard at times!!

Tasha
I'm totally gonna try that jerk chicken!! Sounds like a good meal for my lunches during the week.

Good morning,
This morning I did Legs+Rear Delts in it's entirety. What a fantastic workout!
It was the first time I did the standing portion and I was glad it wasn't a lot of squats with barbells. It burned and worked my buns without stressing my back and I was muttering at Cathe during the 15-pulse shaving of the legs part.

Yesterday I did all 5 Tabatas and spent the rest of the day cleaning the house and more decluttering.

I made the Jerk Chicken with red beans/rice last night - it was fantastic! Thanks, Tash!

Stacie,
Great idea about the t-shirts! LOL! Sorry about the project:( I hope it's all over soon so you all can block out the whole ordeal, and get some rest.

Toni,
Nice job on Turbo Barre! I'm glad it wasn't as bad as you had prepared yourself for it to be. It really is a great total body workout. Those 5# weights do add up after a while.

You're right about the cleaning a decluttered house; the dust was just collecting everywhere so I was able to really deep clean once that stuff was cleared out.

Have a great day, ladies!

Hi everyone :)

Glad you all liked the Jerk Chicken recipe :p. Have you guys ever tired Roti? Holy [insert lots of swear words here ;)]. The process of making it is quite complicated, so I won't even attempt it (hint: you have to make your own dough, make several thin layers, and grind yellow split peas to go in between those layers). My friend from Trinidad used to make a big batch and reserve over half a pan for me :p. She knew just how much I went nutso for that stuff . Anyway, if you guys ever get a chance, please do me a favor and try it! Your taste buds will sing :p.

Yesterday's w/o was Step Moves. I have the whole thing down except for this 4 count-move over the step . I just can't seem to get it .

On Saturday I did XT Bi's & Tri's + 100RC Tri's. I have some nice DOMS going, so I'm pleased about that :D.

Jennifer
YAY for getting stronger and increasing your #'s in PUB . I bet those 100RC's have something to do with it. Are you seeing more muscle definition too?
You have inspired me to de-clutter :D. Thank you :D.
WTG on doing all 5 rounds of Tabata! What do you think of it?
I LOVE the Rear Delt add-on! I'm glad Cathe is focusing so much on rear delts with XT.

Toni
ITA about what you said regarding OD. I won't express any detailed thoughts here, but let's just say I can't empathize with the whole "woe is me, I suck, I hate my life". Sorry, I'm not sorry. Call me cold-hearted, I really don't care.
Great job on tackling Turbo Barre! I absolutely adore that workout with all my heart. IMO, it's the gem of the entire LIS :).

Heartymax
How does Ride work on the elliptical? Very interesting.

Stacie
I'm sorry about your boss and all the stress going on at work :(. Are you done working all those crazy long hours now?
Yes we have a Marshall's, but it's in Toronto. I have never been, but I will make a note for next time :).

Have a good day :)

Good morning!

Hard Strikes is scheduled for tomorrow but I did it this morning:
Cardio/chapter 1 with 3# hand weights (hard and awesome); my shoulders were worked SO hard:D I was dripping sweat.

Then I did the Heavy Bag Tabatas without the bag; I just punched air with all my might. I used 1# hand weights in this section and I could really feel my muscles working hard (I'm thinking DOMS tomorrow) but I think I will try 2# next time because I felt like I could have increased my weight. I think it's a great shoulder/speed/cardio drill even without a heavy bag! By the way, there are 3 Tabatas and it totals about 5 minutes.

Top of my quads/hip flexors as well as my calves are really feeling the Legs workout from yesterday so I'm pretty happy about that.

The de-cluttering has been great, the cleaning has been a sinus nightmare but I've done a couple of sinus rinses and taken Claritin-D and both have been such a relief. I even got motivated to super-clean the workout room. All in all it was a very productive weekend! I even had a massage on Sunday but it was from my regular massage therapist; I told her about my Myofascial sessions with the specialist and she told me she wasn't trained in Myofascial release but she knew a little bit about it and that she would try. She did a good job and it helped but she didn't quite get my one problem area worked out. She said that she would study up on it and to come back in a month; if she didn't get it after that then I should go back to the Specialist.

Tash,
I loved Tabatacise! I don't think the impact is too bad, and I certainly think that 40/20 is harder. I know you mentioned that before and ITA! Geesh, what IS it with that workout?!

Thanks for the tip about Roti; I'm always interested to hear about new and exciting dishes:D It's also a warning for me not to attempt making it unless I'm REALLY in the mood.

Nice job getting DOMS with XT Bi's/Tri's + 100RC Tri's:D Step Moves, well, even if there is a move you're struggling with you're still rockin' that workout:cool: I haven't tried that one in a super long time specifically because the choreography is quite challenging.

Toni,
how are you feeling after Turbo Barre, and how did your day go with the cheerleaders?

Have a great day, ladies!

Good afternoon everyone! Yesterday was Burnsets Chest & Shoulders (no back). I am starting to feel some nice DOMS creep in. I took Friday & Saturday off to catch up on sleep. Tyler and I went to watch the Nuggets play on Saturday night and had a good time. Work is still staying stressful. I have one big task still left to do. It got handed to me because the person that was assigned to it was unable to figure out how to complete it. Anyway, I made some good progress on it over the weekend. I did clocking in 62 hours last week! Total madness!

Last night I made Jamie E.'s lemon protein bars. They are super lemony...I think I put in too much lemonade Crystal light. They are still tasty though.

HeartyMax
The manager for the project I am working on now is better at saying good job than other projects I have worked for in the past. Not ever getting a pat on the back is one of the things I think they need to work on here.

Toni
I do work in IT. One thing that has been a plus in the past about this job is that it was usually a 40 hour a week job. However, a change in management has caused the schedules to become more and more aggressive. I write software...what do you do in the IT world? IT is amazing because it's changing and evolving so rapidly. It's nearly impossible to keep up with all of the technologies.

How was cheerleading?

Jennifer
I am so jealous you did the bag workout! I have been meaning to do that Tabata! Thanks for the review!

Natasha
Jennifer has me craving the recipe you posted. I will have to give that one a try as well.

I went to Walmart yesterday and notice that they don't sell the plate weight set that we use any more. If you were looking to get another one (I kinda was), just a heads up that you might want to get it online before they discontinue it there too!

Have a great day everyone!

Happy Monday!! Today was CBS +100 RC lateral raise(4#). My back was a little fatigued from TB yesterday. I was surprised at how much I needed to use my back to hold the position where you leaned forward and lifted your leg straight back. I had to use Icy Hot yesterday....sssshhhhhhh don't tell anyone I'm getting old  My calves are also having some DOMS today. I wasn't expecting that. Other than that I'm ok.

I did well with CBS. I did ALL the shoulder circles!! Even if it was only a 2# weight. Those things are evil. I'll up it by a lb after one more time doing them at that weight.

Jasmine's cheerleading team is going to Indy, IN for US Finals. This is seriously affecting my ability to go see Lion King. I'm not sure we are going to be able to go. I think it's going to be $600 for the three of us to go. Everyone says it's worth it, but I'm still deciding. It just makes things very tight.

Stacie
I am a database administrator(SQL Server). Yes, keeping up with the changing technology is tough. Luckily we have Google!! You can always find solutions to problems there :)

Cheerleading was LONG!! Those competitions are so tiring...and I'm not even the one competing!! Jasmine's team took 3rd on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday. We were pleased with their placement both days. The team is really coming together.

Tasha
I'm looking forward to seeing what type of results I get from TB!! I've never done a workout like this, so should be interesting. There are only two parts I can't get through, so hopefully I'll get it licked in four weeks.

ouch, my aching DOMS. My entire shoulder area as well as my serratus anterior are seriously sore:D In fact, my hips (and calves) are still feeling the work from Sunday's Legs. This morning I decided to sleep late and skip the workout; I will do some extra stretching throughout the day today.

Stacie,
My lemon bars also turned out super lemony so I don't think you used too much. I really like the strong lemon flavor but I agree that the recipe probably could get away with using less.

Good for you for taking off Fri/Sat... and still clocking in at 62 hours?! That is completely nutso. I'll be glad for you when the build is over. Hopefully you'll get some sort of recognition.

Heartymax,
Did you decide to register?
I am going to try to go after all if I can still get in. I've been trying to go the last 3 years and this year I decided to go for it... I would love to see Cathe's gym, and it's a lot less expensive to go there than to one of the resort locations... besides, I am getting a nice tax refund:)

Hi Tash and Toni!

Have an awe-inspiring day!

Stacie
Glad you caught up on some much needed sleep. For me, sleep triumphs over exercise. If someone would have told me that I would be missing out on so much sleep since having a child, I probably would have stayed on the pill :D -- Just kiddin' ;).
I've always wanted to go see a basket ball game! (Nuggets is a basket ball team right?). It's great you and Tyler had some mommy/son time :).
Thanks for the head-up regarding the weight plate set! I hate it when they discontinue stuff . I'm actually gonna visit a Marshall's this w/e to see what all the fuss is about.
And yes, I hope you get a lot of recognition for all those long hours and hard work you are putting in.

Toni
It's amazing how much your back works during TB. I used to have a lot of lower-back strain while doing it, but as my body got acclimated I no longer feel the strain.
Congrats on Jasmine's team going to the finale! You must be the proud momma :).
WOW, $600 for 3 people to go see a play . Ya, I guess that seems about right, especially if you want good seats. LOL, the seats better be laced w/gold then ;).

Jennifer
I am going to try the boxing tabata sans the heavy bag too!!! The thing is, I really want to punch something :D. Hmmm, perhaps the stability ball will work.
YAY for such incredible DOMS .
Glad the de-cluttering went well. It really feels good when you do any type of "cleaning". For me, I hate getting rid of old bills/papers/invoices. I bought a paper shredder and decided it was time to go nuts! It felt great to get rid of all that "mess" :D.
If I lived in the US, I would definitely be planning a RT -- even if that meant going alone. I think you should def go! I think you will have an incredible time :D.

Heartymax
Hello :).

No workout for me yesterday. Bella was sick w/ a fever and I got practically 0 sleep the night before. Today's w/o will be Cardio Leg Blast, and I'm going HEAVY with my weight loads . We'll see how that goes!

Have a good one ladies

Hey all!! I was supposed to do MMA Fusion today, but just wasn't in the mood for some of those moves. I swapped in MMA Kickbox. LOVED IT!! My first time with that one. Loved the entire workout. I thought the core work was really nice as well. I love Cathe for core work. She never has the same old boring moves. Always something fresh and different.

My brother in law should be here soon to purchase my copy of Insanity. I'm super excited about that because that will pay for my RushFit purchase(well most of it anyway). I'm still going to just hold the money and not buy it until I'm almost done with XTrain. I just know I'll ditch my rotation if I don't and I really want to finish the upper body work in XTrain. I can already feel my shoulders getting stronger.

Brandon and Jasmine both did the upper body work in Travel Fit today :) I figured the resistance band might be a little safer than weights and easily adjusted to what feels good. They both did really well with form and Jasmine really liked this workout. I could tell she felt like she was getting worked but wasn't super duper hard for her. Right where we want to be I think. For Brandon I think it's more about spending time with us and not feeling left out. Although, he did a great job also. Funny thing is that Jasmine is stronger than him in the shoulders...LOL!! All the tumbling I'm sure!! He wipes the floor with her in plank work though. They have a bit of a competition going. I love to see them spending positive time together. They bicker so much that it is nice to see them cheer each other on at something.

Jennifer
I did not do the TB upper body conditioning with 5#, I was a whimp with 3# :) I would have been fine with biceps, but shoulder would not have worked. As it was I had to skip a rep or two in shoulder work. And the triceps...boy or boy. Those high rep pulses are TERRIBLE!! I had to skip a couple of those to. After one more week I'll use my pace weights to go to 4#.

Tasha
I got a small raise at work. Normally that would flow right into our house acct for bills and such, but this year DH says I should keep it in my personal acct. Which means that is my Lion King money...whoot whoot!! I feel much better about going now. It should be a really good bonding experience for me and the kids. I never got to do stuff like that as a kid and I really want to give those types of experiences to my kids. Plus I really want to see it too :) Sometimes I worry I spoil them, but then I remember that both my kids just brought home all As and Bs on their report cards and that makes my feel like they've earned it :)

Hoping that HeartyMax and Jennifer get on the list for the RT!! I would love to go, but that's the week I'll be taking Brandon to San Antonio, TX.

Haven't worked out last two days. DH got emergency call at 2am and had to report to work. My sleep was disrupted and I was wide awake for 2 hours and finally fell asleep at 4. Luckily we had a 2hr delay so I got to finish my sleep. I felt lethargic this morning so no workout. Work is very busy so I was extremely exhausted today. Not sure what tomorrow will hold.

Jennifer-- I am planning to try to register. I have it on my calendar so hopefully no students will come down with crisis during that time. I will keep you posted. Good luck to both of us.

Tasha--I hope Bella feels better.

Happy Wednesday morning!

I did Cardio Legs + 100RC hip thrusts. I used 30#s and finished the 100 -- butt (hehe) I will admit that my range of motion almost turned into pulses towards the end; I was still working and squeezing and lifting and feeling it so I wanted to do what I could.

Shoulders are still sore; another upper body rest day for me.

Toni,
It's so sweet to hear about your kids and the workouts; how great that they have something they can share with each other, and you also get to be a part of that:) Where in San Antonio are you going? The Riverwalk?

Glad you like another MMA workout! My favorite MMA is Boxing which really surprised me but I think it's because it's the only one I don't need to modify for my back... and the core/cardio (for me) are more intense because of that reason I suppose.

I certainly wouldn't call 3# in TB wimpy; besides, as you said, you'll build up to it.

Heartymax,
Man was I a big 'ol dork! I kept thinking we could sign up from the 28th through the 31st so I kept trying to click the button! THEN I realized that the 28th was the date in July and the 31st is the date in January that we can sign up:rolleyes: Sometimes I wonder where my mind goes.

Sorry to hear about the emergency call - I hope everything went okay. I'm glad you were able to get some rest to make up for the disruption and do a workout today - you sure picked a good one, too! Super Tabatas!

Tash,
I sure hope Bella is feeling better. She does seem to recover quickly... I remember the last time she was sick it was also for only for about a day:) I guess she is better since you get to do Cardio Legs and are already planning to use heavier weights:D

If you can set the stability ball on something high and stable I think that's a great idea (regarding hitting something)! Thanks for the idea! Having something to hit would be nice:D And actually, I see a few girls in the boxing gym taping and wrapping up their wrists before they put on their gloves... I think that helps stabilize their wrists while they punch hard.

That is awesome about shredding all that paperwork! That's hard to do and takes determination:cool: It's also a lot of work sorting through everything first - Geesh! I always figure if I need proof of paying something I can look at my online bank records for most of those things.

Stacie,
How are things at work going?
Have you been able to get any sleep and do some workouts with your neighbor?

Have a great day!

Good morning ladies although I think for all of you it's already afternoon. Monday night's workout was XT standing legs, core #1, and burn sets Back. Last night was basic step again. I had taken the risers down to one in Basic Step the last couple of times because my knee was bothering me. However, I think I will go back up to two again. I did it last night and didn't have any knee issues at all. I would really like to do other step workouts but my neighbor simply isn't able to. If work ever slows down I would still like to get in a shorter working in the morning.

Toni
Enjoy San Antonio! I would recommend staying along the Riverwalk if you can afford it.

Congrats to Jasmine too on her teams cheer leading win! She must be super excited!

Yay for finding a buyer for Insanity too! I think you will like Rushfit much better! Just a heads up that for awhile there it was on the Target.com website for a little bit cheaper than it was anywhere else.

I think it's awesome that the kids are working out together. Sometime a little competition between siblings can be a good thing.

HeartyMax
Bummer about losing sleep! I hate when that happens. Hopefully you have caught up on the lost hours now.

Jennifer
How wonderful that you will be going to the RT! Hopefully you and HeartyMax will be able to find other and say hi face to face.

Natasha
I am so sorry to hear that little Bella was sick. I hope she is feeling better now. I remember when Tyler was that age he would get these fevers and be sick for a day and then the next it was like nothing had happened. Hopefully Bella is able to shake hers off the quickly as well.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone :)

Yesterday's w/o was Cardio Leg Blast and I went HEAVY. I used 25lbs for almost every weighted exercise. At one point, my forearms wanted to give out :(. They were hurting sooo badly. My legs however, felt nothing . So of course that limits my weight #'s, and that kinda peeves me off . DH suggests I try wrist straps to take the pressure off my forearms, which should allow me to increase weights. He does them with 100lbs+ dumbbells and says they work great, so we'll see. It's funny, we are a husband/wife team that loves heavy lifting :).

Bella had another rough night. Her coughing and sniffling get's worse while she is sleeping, and it wakes me up frequently. I had another sleepless night, so no workout for me today :(.

Heartmax

Sorry about the rough night. You got in a great w/o this morning though .

Toni
I love how Brandon and Jasmine both did Travel Fit together :).
I'm so happy you are going to see the Lion King! I'm a sucker for anything Disney .

Stacie
Great w/o Monday! I'm sorry about your knee :(.
Ya, Bella usually recovers quick. You can't really tell she's sick, except for nighttime :(.

Jennifer
Loved your w/o yesterday! Those hip thrusts are something else . I will try 30lbs for my next attempt and see how it goes.

Sorry for the short posts everyone. I'm tired as heck :(. Have a good evening.

Today's workout was Chest, Back and Shoulder. I was able to knock out the first 24 push ups but I did not change the rep pattern like the crew. I kept my normal pace. I skipped the one's at the end because my chest is too fired to even think about push ups at the end. I also did the 100RC lateral raises with 5lbs. My shoulders were burning.

Jennifer----Today is the day! I never go on the forum on my computer at work, but I will today. I actually logged out this morning at home to make sure I could remember my password so I can log in at work. Anytime you use a new computer it ask you to log in and didn't want to miss the RT because I couldn't get logged in. LOL!

Gotta run....check in later.

Hello!! Yesterday was BS Bi/Tri + 100 RC Tri w/ 4#. Not to bad. I really feel like my forearm strength is holding me back from going heavier with biceps  I'll need to continue to work on that. I really don't feel to much of a burn in my biceps and I certainly should. But I can't go any heavier cause I can't get the weight up for my forearms  I'll continue to work at it!!

Jennifer & HeartyMax
Good luck getting into the RT today!!

Tasha
I feel ya with the forearm strength!! Hope Bella is feeling better soon!!

Stacie
Ordered RushFit today :) Now if I can keep my hands off it!!

Hi!
This morning was Ride, and tomorrow will be Burn Sets entire upper body- I'm excited about that :)

I didn't make it to Ripped last night because I worked late. That's okay, though; I ended up making another batch of Lemon Protein bars - I changed a few things and I'll find out how those changes turned out later this afternoon when I have my snack. I'll get back to you on that.

Oh - if anyone's curious, I posted a couple pics of my workout room in my profile. There is one place where the mats are a bit pulled apart but it's not even noticeable during workouts; there's not really a gap there - the edges are still close enough together to create a smooth surface. I still recommend the puzzle mats with the cabinet liner underneath them:)

Tash,
Poor Bella (and you!); night time is the worst during illness:( I hope she gets over it really soon so you both can get some rest!

Nice job on the 25#s, but I'm sorry you didn't feel it in your legs:confused: I wonder if some of those exercises you might want to use a barbell so you can go heavier without the forearms getting in your way? It is super cool about Mark liking heavy weights:) Wow, 100 pound DBs?! Is he the Hulk?! That is incredibly strong! I'm not familiar with the strap Mark mentioned so I'm curious about that. I think hanging on a bar will also help your forearm/grip strength.

Thanks, by the way - the hip thrust challenge after Cardio Legs felt great. I'm not really feeling it too much today but maybe tomorrow it will be worse; during Ride this morning I noticed my hips/buns during certain positions.

Heartymax,
Oh My Gosh - your pushups were awesome, and you finished C/B/S with 100RC Lateral raises with 5#?! I bet you felt on FIRE! Very nice!

Ha! Yes, that would be such a bummer to not be able to log in at that critical time:eek: Good luck getting in!

Toni,
Awesome job on the 100RC Lateral raises - 4# is great! I bet you felt on fire, too! Very Nice! Ya know, that darn leaver length can really foil a plan - but you'll get there. I mentioned to Tasha that hanging from a bar can help forearm and grip strength.

That's funny - do try to keep your hands off Rush Fit for a while:D

Stacie,
It's a relief that your knee is feeling better. A lot of people swear by the mcDavid knee braces - have you tried them? I wonder if it would help? I wonder if your neighbor could modify a step workout so that you could do one that challenges you more... she could use no risers at all or something, or is it the choreography? I know that can be tricky sometimes.

Have super awesome day!
