Not Our Daughter's Jeans - Eeeech!

Caitlin -

I meant to let you know that I eventually found a pair of Sevens at Macy's at Menlo Park. I now know what everyone is talking about. I love them. They are the most comfortable pair of jeans I own and fit me like a glove. They were originally marked $90 then down to fifty-something and when I got to the register, the cashier had me use my Macy's card for an additional 15% off. I paid $42 for them. I would have paid the full $90 and still felt like I received a bargain. I love them!!!

My daughter recently purchased a pair of Joe's jeans and paid $179 for them and she loves them like crazy too!! I'm now on a quest to find another pair of jeans that I love just as much. A girl can't have too many jeans, ya know?

>If the "Not your daughter's jean" are so fabulous, why do
>they have models who don't need them modeling them.

i think the same thoughts about any clothes LOL. padded bras, slimming panty hose, the list goes on and on.

Nancy: did you get these recently?? I may take a trip up to Menlo Park if they're still on sale!!

PS Oops, I guess I shouldn't just assume you're talking about Menlo Park, CA :)

I tried these at Nordstrom's one time. I was interested in the 'Tummy tuck' style because that is my problem area and they're supposed to make you look 10 lbs. slimmer. When I asked the salesperson for these jeans she thought that they might be too "old" for me (I'm 36). Sure enough they reminded me of a pair of "mom jeans". LOL:) She recommended a pair of David Kahn jeans and I absolutely love them.

Way too high... would feel weird on me. I also saw that brand in a catalog I got in the mail recently... it was callled Your Changing Life, or something like that, for ladies who are getting older!!

I actually stopped wearing jeans a few years ago when I developed my midlife pot. I don't like the high-waisted soccer mom jeans,(not ready to look old yet) but I don't look good in the low riders anymore. Not nice seeing a little pot hanging over. So I wear yoga pants and Marika capris and stuff like that. I look good everywhere else, just the damn pot!

Have you tried mid-rise jeans? I have a pair of Lucky Easy Riders that are mid-rise and I love these jeans. They hit right below the naval and I find this the most flattering cut for me.

I got a list of recommended jeans off a website and these were on there. Found them at dillard's and tried them on - ugh! I can't wear real low riders but these were awful. And they had sooo much stretch in them that I can't imagine how they fit after a few hours - felt like putting on leggings or something with all that stretch! They were not flattering at all for me and my stomach is my trouble spot. And what about that name? Not your daughters jeans - I guess that means they're "mom jeans".

I did find a pair on the list I liked - the Gap curvy boot cut and flares. Now I just have to get enough $ together to get them. ;( Marnie

Wow, Nancy, you got such a great deal on them. It seems to me that the prices are getting crazier and crazier, and sometimes, I browse in the Image Store at the Staten Island Mall. They have Citizens of Humanity on sale, but I am not buying another pair of jeans until I go down another size.

I love jeans.

That is why I dislike the media and modeling industry. Have you see the runway models? They look like they need feeding tubes.

I just want to be strong, healthy and toned, and lose a few more pounds.

When you are short, high waists looks awful. I am only 5'2" tall, and, if I wear a lower waist, it elongates my body. I also don't wear my jeans so small that I have a muffin top. I will buy a bigger size so it fits properly. I also don't need to have a waist that goes down to my pubic bone.

I agree that they are ugly, and they are also "mom" jeans. Many of us are mothers, but we don't have to look "dorky."

Yoga pants and Marika capris look beautiful, and they are so different from the sloppy sweatpants that many women used to wear. The pot is so hard to get rid of, and sometimes skin gets stretched out.
