New Fitness by Cathe Product: Step Shox

I'm thinking these may also be good to use when using the High Step, to remove the bit of 'wiggle' that the risers have when they are stacked taller.

How would it reduce the "wiggle"? If the stack is getting taller by adding this other riser, I would think it might wiggle more, unless it's made out of some other type of material....(???)

So do you only need one set or do you need one set for each set of risers? I wish Cathe would have posted something about them.

I agree that it looks as though they may increase the height a bit.

The closeup pix on amazon shows them to be a very thin rubber liner that goes on the riser. I don't think it would affect the height too much, but it might help stabilize the riser above and below it-keep them from sliding around. I hope we get some reviews soon from the people who have ordered them!

Oh yes, thank you thank you thank you! You'd be surprised at how much shock a thin layer of rubber can absorb........I have pretty painful feet issues, & $10 is well worth it if it can alleviate that, even just a little!

Hate to order from Walmart (or Amazon for that matter), but sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.........should have them next week. Shall we all post our reviews after we've tried them? :)

My order for the mini step shox is being delivered today. I'll try them out tonight and let you know.

Wiggle and quiet?

Let me know if they make them 'quieter' too. I'm not too concerned about the wiggle, but if it makes them quieter, I'd like to know. Thanks!

I hadn't thought about them making it quieter, but I like that idea, too! Keep us updated, please & thank you!;)

Can't wait to hear
Well, I got the small pair in this afternoon. They were advertised to fit the mini step (what I thought was the mini tower that is used in Meso 2 Legs, HSC, etc.). They don't fit. The picture on the package is the step used in Low Impact Step. This is the gray top with the green risers. Hopefully the large size will fit the other step that is used in all of the other DVDs.

Received mine today

I received the Step Shox item today! I will be using them tomorrow during my workout.

The Step Shox pads are a thick, foam-type material. I was concerned about the thickness of the them and it creating more height, but the pads are thin...a little over 1/4" (about 7/16"). They fit nicely between the risers and step. I guess time will tell how durable they will be.

I did a few "test" steps, and they did not make the step slip. It is hard to say right now whether or not I will notice the addition of the Step Shoxs during my workout.

I will post a review after I try them out this weekend!

Can't wait to hear what y'all think. I have twitchy knees and would definitely buy something that seemed to help in that regard. :)

I also am eagerly awaiting your reviews. Anything to reduce the wear and tear on my old knees would be great.

I just wonder if the difference will be difficult to detect. It may be a subtle change.

Not sure what you mean by "twitchy" knees but my knee used to feel like something was pulling or twitching underneath and I bought the jill miller knee hab used it one time and my knees have been WAY better. In the pre-hab portion of dvd she has you roll on her therapy balls, which actually hurt but I wonder if I just had something that was tight in my thigh and it messaged it out?? Not really sure but I think that is what fixed it!

I finally got the large set today. It definitely made them quieter. I did the step only chapter from 4DS Low Intensity Step this evening and didn't notice any discomfort with my knees, shins or feet. Maybe they do work!

I wish I'd seen this thread sooner -- both Amazon and Walmart are out of stock, grr! Has anyone seen them anywhere else? I love step, and I'm always looking for ways to protect my knees so I can keep loving step for a long time!

I'd love to hear more guys! My "twitchy" knees means I have patellofemoral syndrome and for years was not even able to do step at all, even low impact. I can definitely do low impact now and can do some of the higher impact though I will modify if it feels like too much. I also don't do high impact things like running. My knees are so much better than they used to be (I used to be in pain all the time) and I'd like to see more improvement or at the very least just keep them where they are.
