New babies and soon to be mommies October 18th

Hi everyone!

Allison is sound asleep on my chest and I LOOOVE that. It is strange but I feel more relaxed with 2 kids than I did with 1. I don't know if its just because of everything is calming down or if I'm finally realizing that I can't control certain things in life no matter how hard I try.

Allison was up at 1, 3, 4:30 and 6:30. But amazingly, I don't feel exhausted. I'm thinking that I'll start stripping wallpaper border in the girls bathroom today. I'm thinking of going with polka dots but I can't decide on colors.

Susan - glad to see Kara is sleeping well for you. She's adorable.

Melanie - sorry to hear about the diabetes and more bed rest. You just have to deal with one thing after another too, don't you?

Jen - Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend.

Kelli- Congrats and Welcome.

Kristine - I think you're right on target w/ weight gain. I remember that I had a big gain at about that time.

Hi to everyone else!

Hi everyone,

Glad you slept well Melanie...man the dreams I have are CRAZY.

Kristine - I am 16 weeks, good luck on the gluclose test..

I am off to return a couple of maternity things that looked awful and hopefully find a black and brown sweater...the basics seen so hard to find sometimes.

Hopes everyone has a great day.

Kelli

Morning everyone,

A slow day here at work today. Baby is moving like crazy and I love it, he's just getting stonger everyday! I started packing my labor bag, got some socks, sleeping gowns, nursing bras, underwear and slippers. Suggestions are welcome!!

Kelli, congratulations!! We are glad to have new people here sharing their experiences! I just found out my youngest sister is 8 weeks pregnant with her second baby too! That will be baby #10 in my family (and 8 of them are in diapers)

Melanie, sorry about the glucose test, it's just something else to deal with but babies will be here soon and everything will go back to normal.

Jen, glad you slep great last night. Are you still working??

Susan, My parents are coming a month from today, few days before Thanksgiving! I am ready for them to come now, I miss them. They were here 3 months ago but normally I don't get to see them that often because they live overseas. They will be here until the end of January

Wendy, can't wait to have that feel;ing myself. For now I just enjoy feeling him moving day and night and sometimes he keeps me up for hours at night.

Kristine, I don't think 20 pounds is a bad thing for 25 weeks. I put on most of the weight in the second trimester (16 pounds in 8 weeks!) I still have 6 more weeks to go but it has slowed down this trimester

Hi Allsion, Cee and Christine. I wish everyone a great weekend!

I see Kelli joined, so maybe I will give it a go too. I was apprehensive about it because you all have been at this for a while. I'm only going on 5 weeks, so I'm very early first trimester. Just found out for sure 2 days ago with a blood test, but I got my first positive home test about 6 days prior to AF's due date (yes, I was very impatient and tested early). My number on my blood test was 675 so I guess that's decent for being 4 1/2 weeks. This is my first so I know NOTHING about what is going on with my body at the moment. I really need to invest in a good pregnancy book, so if anyone has any recommendations, let me know. I'll try to start jumping in here with the conversations. It will just take me a little while to get caught up. :) Oh, and for those who don't know me, hi my name is Amber, I've been married for 8 years and live with my 3 wienie dogs in PA. :)

See Kelli, I told you your post would encourage other "lurkers" to join in! Good luck finding some basic maternity clothes! I felt like all I ever wore was black, white and brown. And now in the last few weeks, I don't care what I wear! :)

Welcome Amber and congratulations! My name is Jen, I am 30 and have been married for 3 1/2 yrs and 37 wks (almost 38) pregnant with our first boy, James. Feel free to ask away about any questions you may have. For entertaining reading while pregnant I LOVED reading Belly Laughs by Jenny Mcarthy and The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy (dont remember the author's name). It helped to hear the "real" side of pregnancy but What to Expect is also informative. Most everything I learned, I learned on here by asking the experienced mommies.

Priscila- Yes I am still working. I was taken out of case rotation so I won't take any new cases with families (which can be exhausting) and am just working on "cleaning up" the ones I currently have. Isn't it still the best feeling when baby moves all around??? I wil definitely miss him in my belly but I am so excited!!

Melanie- I took a nap in the sheriff's office on their couch cause we had the kids Halloween party last night so I was at work for 12 hrs. :) They've always offered it to me throughout pregnancy and that was the first time I took them up on it. One of the investigators was recently pregnant and on modified bed rest (the girl I got most of James's clothes from) and used the couch also.

Hi Wendy! Glad everything has calmed down for you and your family! You deserve some relaxation!

Kristine- I "lurk" sometimes and feel to lazy to write also. Don't worry about it! Just glad that you are still with us! I think 20 lbs at 25 weeks is great! I would have to look in my journal to see where I was with weight gain but I have gained a total of 35 and have been holding steady these last three weeks.

Susan- I wondered if the wipe warmer was a waste of money. I guess I will wait and see what James prefers. Thanks for the tip though!

Welcome Amber! I'm so glad new mommies are coming on board! Keeping things "fresh" for us.

Precilla~ yeah for a slow day! We all need those!

Jen~ wow...you're getting so close

Susan~ Justin didn't like cool wipes, the other kids didn't care. I'm borrowing one from a friend. They are nice to have....but I find that I end up changing my kiddos in the living room, my bedroom, or anywhere else where they need it. LOL I'm looking at getting a couple of basket type things for "diaper stations" around the house.

Christine~ I got your care package today. You are so sweet!!! I stashed the 100-calorie chocolate bars. There are times when a woman needs chocolate, gestational diabetes or not. lol

Wendy~ it sounds like you might be getting back to "normal"......whatever that might be for you!! It's been a long haul...girlie! I remember when jadon was born....and I just brought him home...one night all 3 boys slept around me on the couch & in the living room. I know what you mean about being at more peace with 2 than 1. I don't know know how to explain it.....but it's a great feeling!!

Kristine~ I've gained 40lbs so far with my twins. Today I am 32 weeks along. With my singletons I had one month that I gained a significantly amount more than the other months; toward the end I think I lost a couple lbs.......souns like you're right on schedule.

The dietician came in to meet with me. We are going to aim at a 2200 calorie diet for now. I'm hopeful that it won't be too bad. I get 3 meals and 3 snacks/day. When I was hospitlzed I was suprised that there were not scheduled snacks? The afternoon's were tough b/c there's a 6 hour period where I didn't get anything to eat at all....unless I asked a nurse for a snack, then it was limited to whatever they happened to have in the lounge (jelly toast, cookies,....).

Hi Girlies!
Just a quick hello. Step mom is baking cookies for Haley to decorate tonight. We are having a great visit!
Melanie and Jen-Kara would cry everytime I changed her with cold wipes..now it doesnt phase her with the warm ones. DIdnt seem to bother Haley whatsoever.

Welcome Amber! I have enjoyed reading your posts. Congrats!!

Melanie-6 hours witout a snack would do me in!! At least now you'll get regular snacks. Hang in there..won't be too much longer. Your package should get to you on Monday.....and again...sorry for the ummmm .....sugar!

ok gotta get for now. bbl

Thank you girls for the welcome!!! :) I have my first appointment on 11/16, so I will try not to stress too much about anything until then.

Melanie - Congrats on the twins! That is so exciting. Two girls?

Jen - I'm 30 too. Thanks for the book recommendations!

Susan - You are very sweet! Thank you! :)

Hi al, and welcome to our new friends!
I suck, have not posted in days, but have been lurking regularly. I am in a whirlwind. Our loan almost did not go through in time for the house and the moving truck is coming monday. I guess all of this finally caught up with me, and I am really tired and havign panic attacks. Weird. Once we get there I should be much better.
Susan- So happy to hear that you adn baby are doing so well. What a great sleeper. I envy you!
Wendy- Super happy to hear that motherhood has been a positive experience after such a rough time. Little one is bringing you the happiness and calm that you needed, she has some of yoru dad for sure!
Allison- Sounds like you have your hands full. Your FB posting had me cracking up. My poor son sings to GNR, it always makes me feel better. Nothing like a little Sweet Child O Mine to brighten a day!
Priscila- I am here to help if you need any advice on the house stuff. I will test drive moving at 33 weeks for you! I am huge and slow. At this point, I am on my thrid dumpster and am just throwing out everything and donating. I want to me unpacked before baby, so I figure that throwing it away means less boxes! I am not sleeping well, are you? My doctor told me to take Unisom, and I am, but it makes me nervous. I figure a well rested me is better than grouchy, pukey, tired me. Oh well.
Jen- You are almost there!!! I hope that you can stop working soon so that you are able to rest. Countdown, girl!
Melanie- Oops on the chocolate. That was before the GD. Sorry! I love those chocolates. And the socks are awesome. Hope that the girls keep growing and that someone can get you more snacks. If I went 6 hours with out food, I would gnaw my arm off.
Dawn- Not sure if you are on much, but i saw on FB about your colic battle. Been there with my son, and feel for you. I promise it goes away. I used to want to punch all the moms in the neighborhood when they told me that, but it really does get better! Wine helps! Hee heee!
Kristine- You sound great! Good job on the workouts! I am sure that you are doing wonderful. Your weight gain sounds like it is right on track.
Off to be a better mom. Today is not a good day. I am grouchy and snappy with my son. I wish I was being a better parent, but some days are tough. He peed again in bed last night, it will be good to stop all the madness and get back to normal. We made brownies and put marshamllow fluff on top. Trying to get rid of all our dry goods before the move, and so I will fatten up on the baking treats!!!!
Hi to all the other preggos I did not get to, I will post more often when I get internet at the new house. Hopefully I can post before we move on Monday!

Christine sorry you are having a rough day. We all have those. Never doubt you are a great mom! Life will be normal again for you very soon! Now, go eat some baked goods! Let us know about your move when you can.

I have eaten my weight in sugar cookies this afternoon..and the family wants to order pizza tonight!

Welcome, Amber and Kellie!

I'm Allison. Had a baby boy 5 weeks ago :) I'm 36, married 5 years. Have a fantastic 3 yo daughter and 3 stepkids, Live in Philadelphia.

Amber, I really liked Girlfriend's Guide for fun and laughs, but to know what was going on, I loved the Mayo Clinic's Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy.

Off to shower -- have to leave for book club in 29 minutes!

Here is a less than enthusiastic shout out to my not-so-friends: hemorrhoids. Thought I could get through this pregnancy without them, but those suckers snuck in and won. Looking real forward to that 6 hour drive on these suckers. Hmmm. 7 weeks. that is all that I can handle. Pregnancy is about 7 weeks too long.

Sorry about the hemrrhoids, Christine. Mine are a fine cluster of grapes at this point. LOL I asked the nursing staff for some witch hazel pads for my BMs..but all they have are creams. When I am blessed with a BM, I feel like I can't clean all the "clusters" b/c of the large surface area.....and, well, my arms barely reach back there anymore. I now use baby wipes to clean the area. LOL ......I love the comment about "gnawing your hand off" after 6 hours of not eating. During my 3 hour challenge, I hadn't eaten for 17 hours for the last blood draw......I started sweating, shaking, and getting very irritable (my glucose was in 40s).....I opened up my stash & started eating everything in site......apples, triscuts, candy......you name it.....it got shoved in!!

Favorite singleton maternity book: "Everything you need to know when you are expecting"

Looks like i'm going to be on insulin, my glucose readings are 175-200 an hour after eating. :( Oh well, the shots don't scare me....it'll make me a better pharmacist with all this experience, right? lol

Waves to all you sexy mommas!!!

MElanie- My OB told me it was okay to take Unisom, I have some major sleeping issues from anxiety with moving and stuff. What are your thoughts? I have been using it, sleeping much better. It also helps my nausea, which is helping me eat and gain weight. I just worry I am doing something bad. I need to hear your opinion!!!

Unisom is perfectly safe. :)

I'm sorry about your anxiety & all your moving stress. Whew. It's been a tough pregnancy for lots of us, eh? Oh.....and I've never seen socks so comfty and soft. :D

If I had a crystal ball.....and could have predicted all my trials & challenges.....I would do it all over again. I'm pretty sure though that I'm done after these gals though. Nothing like going out with a BANG, eh?

the weekends are soooo slow on forums. It's kinda tough for a gal on bedrest. It's making me a "forum slut" (i.e. checking other forums).

Today was an awesome day for me.

DH & boys came to visit as well as a neighbor.

My glucose readings were almost PERFECT.....and I had McDs quarter pound meal & a small package of m&ms.

My ob/gyn confirmed ear infections, with fluid behind ears........continue with tylenol & robitussin w/codeine.

One more day.......almost over! :D

I am here! Enjoying the bliss of not havign hubby leave on a plane tomorrow and it has made us so happy!!! Jimmy is a little saint today. He usually acts out on Saturday night in anticipation of departure, and is awesome tonight. We had steaks (Our grocery store had a sale on filet!). And now ice cream sandwiches. Do not worry, I will fill in tomorrow!
Mel- LOVED THE PICS! You are awesome. Lucky girls!
