New babies and soon to be mommies October 18th

Hi gals. I've been online on/off today.....but I didn't get any e-mails that the post was updated......so I hadn't gotten here. Sorry gals....didn't mean to scare you!!!

I think I'm getting better. Less sinus pain....still can only breathe through my nose (except when I lie on right side). I've been posting most of my medical updates on: https://www.carepages.com/carepages/monnietwins There seems to be so much going on, and I don't want to you guys to be bored!!

The girls are doing great. Movements are more full body now....less punches/kicks type. The girls seems to move in together---playfully. I LOVE it!!

Susan, sounds like your milk is coming in nicely. Are your nipples more pliable now...or still at engorged spot?

Jen, good job on your thank you cards!!

I got a good deal on an eBay preemie lot for the twins. Matching sleepers, 7 sets I believe. I'm having DH wash them....haven't decided if I'll have him bring them to the hospital. Haven't seen my family since Thursday. I'm missing them like crazy.

I also got a double front carrier: http://www.justmultiples.com/twin-weego.html from craigslist in WI, they agreed to ship it to me! I got it for less than 1/2 the original price.

I'm debating about getting a co-sleeper that attatches to the bed. For the boys I used a pack-n-play and it worked perfectly....but I was able to co-sleep with them in our bed....I'm not as confident about doing that with two babies....but I want them close enough where I can touch/cuddle them.

Susan, what type of pacifiers is that they send home with babies now? I used to be furious when nursing staff stuck pacis in my newborns mouth....b/c it was always tabooed with nursing...."nipple confusion" risk....but it seems to be the thing to do now that pacifier use has been shown to decrease SIDS. They looks sooooo strange!

Hey Melanie-soooo glad you are feeling better!
When they brought Kara to me she had a paci in...When I had Haley I would of flipped out! I was so against pacis of any kind. Its called a "soothie". I actually picked up 2 more at Target. I havent worried about it. Kara does like to suck and I give it too her if she has the hiccups or gas or can tell she just wants to suck. It hasnt interfered at all with nursing. I am much more laid back this time. Im just going with the flow.
I have Karas pack and play bassinet right next to the bed. I love cuddling with her after nusring at night!!
Are you going to try and nurse the girls? You'll be a milk producing maniac for sure!
My first day alone with Kara is going great!

Susan, the "soothie" must be nursing-friendly. It seems like all the babies are discharged with them nowadays. Change of times, I suppose.

I am planning on nursing. Call me nieve, but I think I can do it. I exclusively nursed all my boys.....they never had formula. I'm not holding myself to those tight of standards with twins....but I'm hoping I can do it... I've always had more than enough milk for my boys. It's soooo important to me that I can do this for them; not to even mention the $ we'll save!!

So you don't feel like the "hump" to the bassinet pack n play is difficult at all? I'm having a c/s....so the first couple weeks are brutal. I'm actually thinking of asking DH to sleep on the couch for the first couple weeks. Does that sound mean? Who am I kidding? Noone's going to get any sleep. LOL

DH sounded really grouchy & stressed out on the phone today. :( I wish I could somehow help him. It doesn't help that I gave him a "to do list" today. We got an estimate on our furnace a few weeks ago....over $5000, which is frightening. I've been on "his back" to get another estimate & he's dragging his feet. This other guy i've asked him to call is from our church & just starting out his business. He's supposed to be really good. I just don't think forking over $5000 is very bright without getting at least one more estimate. The house has been cool & it might take weeks for the furnace to be ordered & installed. We have Newborns coming home.....this has to be done!!! *URGH* I wish I could call the guy myself!!

Today is October 19th........goal due date is November 19th.........we've hit a milestone!!!!!! YEAH!!!! One more calander month!!!

Hi ladies,

Sorry I've been missing for so long, I've been overwhelmed lately! Crossing my fingers that everything goes well with the house.
I'm 33 weeks today and just had a OB check, everything looks great and I will have a sonogram in 2 weeks. So far I've gained 31 pounds.
I am a Lamaze graduate LOL! I actually enjoyed it and had a great time bonding with my DH and practicing all the breathing patterns. We also did some visualization excersizes, I actually felt asleep!!. I hope I remember everything when the time comes. I need to post new pics but I'm dragging me feet like you can't imagine!
I'm getting my labor bag ready, got a pair of nursing bras and few more things!

Jen, you're next!!! How exciting. It seems like we have pretty much the same weight gain (about a pound per week or so) Not bad, we'll encourage each other on this forum to sweat it out!

Melanie, just 5 more weeks!! I love your actitude! All for the girls, it's all worthy

Allison, 26 pounds lost so far is great, are you nursing??

Susan, Yeah for no more bili blanket! Kara seems to be a very easy to handle baby, sleeping 4 hrs straight right? That's great. My baby is extremely active afetr 10pm, I guess it's just a sample of what the future holds for me LoL!

Christine, you ran 10 miles! boy You're a trooper!

Hi Cee, Wendy, Kristine and Dawn

Precilla, so glad to hear from you! 33 weeks! Wow.....these pregnancies are going so fast, aren't they? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your new home!

Melanie-Haley didnt sleep well at all in the flat bassinet..actually she never slept well lol. The co sleeper is cool!! Your pregnancy seems to be flying by!

Pricilla-33 weeks..yayy!!! Kara was very active all nigth too...so I thought for sure she would be a night owl! Im excited about your house!

Kara is getting a little facial rash....Mel you know what I can do about that? I forgot what I used with Haley. I tthink I just used baby lotion of some kind.

I hope we all keep checking in after all the babies are born!

Susan, What does kara's rash look like? Is it baby acne? dry/scaly?

Honestly though, sooo little, I probably wouldn't do anything with it unless it seems to spread or bother her. You could use aquaphor lotion on it a couple times a day for irritation/moisture. Do NOT use hydrocortisone. ;)

Hi everyone! Here's my update since last week:

Saturday we were with dad till 7:30 and on the way home I started having contractions. We got a call at 10 pm that dad had died. I went to the hospital at 12:30am and they had to stop my contractions since it hadn't been 48 hours since my last shot.

Then, Sunday night at 6pm they started the Cervidil.
2am- I woke up and was having contractions but the monitor didn't show them (found out later the monitor wasn't working properly)
6:30am - checked me - 1cm- UGGH!
7:30 am - checked me because I was begging for pain meds - 6cm! so they called Dr. and the anesthesiologist to give me an intrathecal
8:30 am - Dr. arrives and breaks my water and 2 pushes later...
8:36 am - Baby Allison arrives 6lbs 7oz 19 inches

Got home Wednesday and had dad's visitation on Thursday and funeral on Friday and we've been busy since so tonight I'm pretty sore. Tomorrow will be a day of hanging out on the couch with Allison on my belly. I can't wait.

Glad to hear everything is going well for everyone! Maybe now that my life has calmed down a bit I can get on these forums more. I'm worried now that I won't have the urge to workout once I feel better since I've been away from it for so long now. Does anyone else worry about that?

Thanks for updating us, Wendy. I'm glad that you are finally going to be able to relax a bit and enjoy your precious wee-one.

Once you are healed up, you WILL workout again. I haven't worked out since April.....and I can't wait to get going again. lol Have you pre-ordered Cathe's Cardio STS?

I'm so proud of you Wendy, you've been through so much.......and your attitude is awesome. I'm so proud to be your Fit Mommy friend. :D

Morning!
Wendy-you have really been through it girl!!! Allison is adorable!! So very sorry you lost your dad!!

Melanie-thanks for the rash advice. It is just a couple little dots so I will leave it alone unless it gets worse. When we go for 3 week check up on the 3rd. I remember Haley had baby acne about this same time too..but hers was worse.

Last night we were up a little more. Kara got up every 2 hours. Its 6 here now and shes been asleep since 3. Im not sure what to do about all my milk. When she nurses she doesnt begin to finish the milk in one breast before I switch to the other side. Do I just nurse on that one breast so she gets the hind milk....or pump the fore milk off the other breast and nurse on both? I know once she starts eating more at once it will work itself out....but it feels like I am always engorged.
I weighed 122 thjs morning. I can't believe the weight is coming off this fast..I havent dieted at all. My goal is 115.
Morning waves to everyone!

Good job on weight Susan! That's so awesome when our body's cooperate. When my wee-ones were first starting off with nursing, i'd make sure they'd feed off of both breasts. So.....I would nurse off of the one until that breast was comfortable........then switch to the other one until they were done nursing (hopefully getting hind milk). Engorement is so uncomfortable!!! If Kara is done nursing...and you can't interest her......but your breasts are still full.....I'd recommend pumping just until comfort relief occurs.

I'm feeling much better. My DH & jadon will visit tomorrow....it's been almost a week......by far the most difficult thing. Neti pot coming in mail today...I'm expecting big things from this contraption!!

Well, I'm off to update my carepages...

Morning ladies! My you all have been chatty. 37 week appt today, 2 cm dilated still 50% effaced and he is at -2 station. Dr says that once he drops he thinks things will go pretty fast for me. He predicts that he will see me next week at my 38 week appt and then its unknown from there. No weight gain so holding steady at 35 lbs gained.

Melanie- Yay for a visit from DH and DS! That should help the day to go by faster.

Susan- I'm not much help with the breastfeeding questions. I may be asking you guys a lot myself.

Priscila- Wow girl! You are moving right along in your pregnancy. Hooray for graduating Lamaze. I just watched a video and am hoping to remember it when the time comes. I know plenty of people that have delivered without lamaze and they say the nurses at the hospital where I am delivering are great coaches. I guess I'm just not that worried about it.

Wendy- So happy that you will get to relax and enjoy your beautiful girl!

Enjoy your day! I'll check back later!

Jen, you're getting close!

Forums have been up/down all day.

I won't post much, as it might not save.

Dr decided to check my glucose 2hrs after eating today. And......they were at 155 (goal is under 140)........so guess what? I get a 3 hr challenge tomorrow morning. The joys of prednisone treatment.

My throat is sore and my fever returned. I hope it's transient, I really NEED to see my family tomorrow.

Melanie- Good luck on the glucose! I hope your fever goes down too! Girl, you are just having a rough time of this. But it WILL all be worth it for your beautiful girls. Just remember that!

Hi Susan!

evening ladies. Kara is about ready to sack out and so am I.
Melanie-I heard you in Arkansas!! Oh mannnnnnn the dreaded glucose test!!! Hang in there girl!

Night Jen

My dad and step mom come tomorrow so I wont be checking in as much..but I will try!!

waves to everyone!

Susan- Hope you have a wonderful visit with family!

Melanie- Heard ya, loud and clear!

I am draggin today. Whatever James is doing, he is sucking the life out of me. I didn't sleep well, woke up to contractions/cramps. Finally got up to take Tylenol and it helped. Felt the same as last time when dr did cervical check. Wondering what ol' boy is doing up there? Is getting things started or what?

Hi to all the other preggos! Hope everyone is happy and healthy! BBL!
