My dog is sick

And I am so scared. DH took him for a walk Saturday and half way thru he just sat down and wouldn't go any further. DH had to carry him home. He's just been lying around since then. We have a cat as well and they don't get long, he doesn't even perk his ears up when the cat goes by. Normally he chases the cat all over. He normally eats like a pig, but he's not touching his foot. I have him a treat bone yest, which he finally ate. And he was up all night coughing and wheezing like he couldn't breathe. He had a heart murmur when he was a puppy, I'm wondering if he had a heart attack when they were out walking. DH said they were just walking, not running or jogging or anything. Spyro is 8 years old but this is not like him. He's a terrier/cattle dog mix, so he's a bit of a spaz. Lying around is NOT right for him. We are going to see the vet this morning at 930, so hopefully they can fix him up and its nothing too serious. Wish us luck and happy doggy thoughts!!!

Nan, I hope he is okay. Am sending good doggie vibes and happy doggie thoughts your way. Please let us know what the vet says.

Nan,

I'm so sorry to hear this & I hope he is okay. Please let us know what the vet says. I will be thinking about you... wishing you the best of luck & sending you lots of happy doggy thoughts.

It could be any number of things, most of which are fully treatable, so there's a lot hope! I'll keep your pup in my prayers and Jimmy and I will be sending healthy doggie vibes!

I hope it's nothing serious. Glad you're taking him to the vet soon. I'll send positive thoughts his way.

We went to the vet this morn, everything sounds/looks/feels ok. She is keeping him for the day to run some blood tests and chest xrays. I am picking him up at 630 tonight. Says she will be able to go over the xrays then and also hopefully have the blood work back as well as they have an afternoon lab delivery. He has been drinking an awful lot of water and eating a lot of food the past few weeks (although he's always been a pig) except for the last few days. Says that could indicate diabetes but not sure til she runs the tests. Says if it caught up with him that would be the reason for the lethargy. I'll post back when I find out.

Let us know what the vet says! We're waiting. As Jimmy tends to get into everything and have all sorts of stuff happen to him, I know the anxiety of waiting by the phone praying that the vet will call with good news. It's hard. We're thinking of ya!

Keeping you and your puppy in my thoughts. It could be a simple as kennel cough.

I know how you feel, I am going to the vet tomorrow, my puppy has been limping on and off for 4 weeks now. The NOT KNOWING is just horrible. I am not comparing your dog not eating with a limp but I started reading up and the limp could mean, an infection on the toe nail, a cracked pad, Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever or Valley Fever, just a sprained ligament OR hip dysplasia.

Let us know what you find out. Sending good vibes to you.

Prayers coming your way for the little doggie. Mine just went to the emergency vet for a possible seizure. :-(
