Michael Jackson -- Cardiac Arrest

I have no idea if MJ is a pedophile, but by his own admission he slept with children in his bed.

This is what bothers me. I was in total disbelief when the media first reported the molestation charges.
I found it extremely disturbing when MJ admitted during an interview that he enjoyed sharing his bed with children. It's was shared out of "love" How many pedophiles have said that?!!
I found his behavior to be completely inappropriate.
He seemed to lure children in with his Neverland park.:( You wouldn't find my kids in his house!!!

I saw that they were going to play the 911 call on tv. I am do not think that they should ever play a 911 call on tv. I had to call 911 a few weeks ago and I am sure I sounded like a complete psycho because I kept asking them when the ambulance was going to arrive and I also kept telling them to hurry...like they didn't already know that! I don't like when you can hear the fear in the voice of the person making the call.

Also with MJ admitting he let kids sleep in his bed...

I saw that interview a few years ago and I couldn't believe that people would let their kids go and stay with him. But I also saw MJ as a child himself. I think he really had mental issues and because he never really had a childhood he was trying to live like a child to create that for himself.

He did do a lot to help kids and I think he did genuinely loved helping them.

He was the greatest of all time. He sold "Thriller" to one out of every ten Americans BEFORE there was internet, downloading, file sharing, etc. That cannot ever happen again. He was the best entertainer of my generation. I cannot believe he is gone. All of those great memories as a kid that I have dancing to MJ seem so different now that he is gone.
I hope he is finally in peace - he was a troubled soul.

He needed help and he obviously wasn't getting it.

ITA. He needed help a long time ago and never got it. No one wanted to say "no" to him.

What MJ did to those boys overshadows the genius he used to be. Our actions need to be accounted for. And not with money!

Sorry.

I am saddened by the news. I grew up on MJ and even though I hadn't forgot the charges (weird guy). I felt like my childhood was ripped away. It's weird!! I loved the cartoon the Jackson 5 had years ago. I always thought his whole family was weird. I think he had serious mental issues and are those kids really his? I don't see a hint of black in any of them.

I have no idea if MJ is a pedophile, but by his own admission he slept with children in his bed. Do people think he could be a pedophile in that circumstance and not act on it? Genuine question because it's my understanding that pedophiles aren't known for their self-control...
I never perceived of him as sexual in any way. I think he was more of a child himself. In that context, he could share a bed with his 'friends' and not molest him. (Odd, yes. Creepy, yes. Out of bound of what normal people would do, yes. But molestation? I'm still tend to think no.)

I've been watching some of the stuff on MTV and VH1 about him, and it's really sad to see the talented, pretty normal-seeming Michael of the beginnings (though the 80's and even somewhat into the early 90's), and then the images of him in the last 10-15 years. I can't help but feel that he lacked someone in his life to give him perspective (like parents who cared more for him than for his fame and money-making ability) and had too many people around him willling to indulge him without saying "No, Michael, that's just not done" (including every plastic surgeon who worked on him after around 1995!), that he became so isolated from the world that he had no idea how what he did or looked liked seemed to the world, that he got so famous that there was no way he could even have a 1/2-way normal life.

He defiintely was someone who needed therapy, but I doubt he ever got it.

Looking at the handsome guy he was in the 80's (up to when he had only had one nose job, and that was a subtle refinement), I just wonder what he would have looked like if he hadn't turned himself into what first looked like a transgendered white person, then into a "what planet are you from" creature.

And seeing how much of a pre-adolescent body he seemed to have from mid-90's and beyond, I almost believe the rumors that his father made him take some kind of hormones to keep from developing (to keep his voice the way it was).

I thought the same.

I agree that he himself was childlike and didnt' do any harm to children.

I found this on Wikipedia. It is very interesting, thought I would share it.

Jackson's skin was a medium-brown color for the entire duration of his youth, but starting in the early 1980s, his skin gradually grew paler. This change gained widespread media coverage, including rumors that Jackson was bleaching his skin.[11] In the mid-1980s, Jackson was diagnosed with vitiligo and lupus; the latter was in remission in Jackson's case, and both illnesses made him sensitive to sunlight. The treatments he used for his condition further lightened his skin tone, and, with the application of pancake makeup to even out blotches, he could appear very pale.[53] The structure of his face changed as well; several surgeons have speculated that Jackson had undergone multiple nasal surgeries, a forehead lift, thinned lips and a cheekbone surgery.[54] Changes to his face were, in part, due to periods of significant weight loss.[20] Jackson lost weight in the early 1980s because of a change in diet and a desire for "a dancer's body".[55] Witnesses reported that Jackson was often dizzy and speculated that he was suffering from anorexia nervosa; periods of weight loss would become a recurring problem for the singer later in life.[56] Some medical professionals have publicly stated their belief that the singer had body dysmorphic disorder, a psychological condition whereby the sufferer has no concept of how he is perceived by others.[53]

Poor guy. I feel for him.

Sorry, but I think anyone wrongly accused of pedophelia would want it to go to trial. I'm certainly aware that many people settle lawsuits to avoid the expense & publicity of a trial, but settling something like this just smacks of guilt & is far more destructive than trying to fight it.

I so agree with this LauraMax! But on the flip side, if it were my child, I would have told the accused what they could do with their millions of dollars and spent every cent of my own money to see the person in jail! So while to some it might look odd that Jackson wanted to avoid a trial, it looks just as odd to me that someone could just accept money from someone they believe hurt their child.

As far as Jackson's life goes, (and this is just my opinion nothing more) I agree with all of you who have said that he didn't have much of a childhood. I think his real trouble came when he tried to have that childhood as a child would have, but in his adult years. I mean I love Disneyland and I go their with my nieces and nephews and my best friends children all the time, and I have a blast, but I have a blast as an adult would, not like the kids do. The children's good time is on a totally different level as it should be.

I've never been a big fan of his music (Kiss, AC/DC and Ozzy are more my speed) but there is no denying the fact that he was one heck of a talented individual.

I usually don't post dissenting opinions but I have to disagree with those who have posted that MJ must be guilty because he agreed to settle out of court. I do not see how he could ever have gotten a fair trial. He was already convicted in the court of public opinion and the media made such a huge deal out of everything he did that I just don't see how an impartial jury could have been selected.

Regardless, he was an incredibly talented individual who did a lot of outstanding work in his lifetime. It's just a shame that his behavior became so bizarre.

Wasn't he acquitted by a jury the second time? I wonder if they were impartial or blinded by celebrity.

I have been thinking about this a lot the last few days, and I think that he is being mourned for who he was before he went off the deep end. This is probably also true for the jury. The jury, the media, his fans - all wanted to believe he was the same Michael we bonded with over Thriller... and not the person that he became....putting the ick in icky and worse. (Hanging around with a gay porn producer and having him make your "home" movies???)

The more I read - the more shocked I become. Everything we have read before now was massaged by his publicists, the media, his handlers. He was ill - mentally and physically and seriously addicted.

I am still capable of feeling compassion, but not much sympathy.

And Govt Girl - You are/were right.

Everything all of you have written in this thread is correct. I, like Laura Max mourn the loss of Farrah more. After the initial news and shock of his passing, I'd say, I'm not saddened, maybe relieved? The Wacko Jacko phase is over, he is out of his misery, and the children in his life will be safe, and the gold diggers can use him no more, he needs not to be pumped full of drugs to live each and every day of his battered and weird life no more. His drug use was very much like Anna Nicole SMITH, however, Anna didn't make the papers for sleeping with and doping children. She just wanted millions - not dissimilar to ALL those who "minded" or worked for MJ, and so bowed down to his his every whim and wish. It was always and still will be about the $$$$$

Janis I agree with you, I think people are mourning the man he was in the Thriller days. Not the man he became. The man he became was a fruitcake, with very disturbing/sick behaviour.

Has anybody EVER thought of MJ as a sexy entertainer? I know I never saw him as a sexy man. Even in dance, he didn't have the "Oh yeah! I'm liking what i see." look. Y'know?

NO! :eek::eek::eek:
I loved his music in the 80's. My favorite was Thriller- but every time I hear his music now I picture him as the odd character he became.

I wouldn't say sexy, but when he was a teenager and up through Thriller, I thought he was cute and had a poster or two on my wall.

Ah, hell. I can't help but think he would still be alive and much healthier and happier today if he had never been a child star in the Jacksons. I can't even imagine what it would have been like to be him- really, my worst nightmare. So much talent, and it really destroyed him.

I agree. I think having the childhood that he did is what ruined him and made him become so strange. He was a great talent.

No, at least not beyond his first album. When I see clips of videos from that time, I can see the handsome, sexy man he could have become had he not turned into a not-sexy not-man.

In fact, I think he was 'sexier' as a member of the Jackson 5 (yeah, when he was 10!) than later on.

Even when he was doing 'sexy' things (like hip thrust and crotch grabs, or being almost naked in his video with Lisa Marie) they were often more odd than anything.

Like many others said , I will miss his music, not the person he has become in the last 10-15 years. He was a tormented soul, and I hope he is at peace.
RIP MJ
