MAJOR personal accomplishment!!

I'll cut right to the chase -- for the first time EVER in my life, I RAN A MILE!!!

I was always the girl in high school who walked the mile in PE class and got a failing grade because of it. Until Cathe, I've never been consitently physically active EVER.

Running has always been, to me, the pinnacle of physical fitness. But I've spent 26 years telling myself that I can't do it.

Long story short... I have a friend who is running a half marathon today, so I decided to dedicate my workout to her. I was going to do an interval run/walk (2 minutes of each). But at some point, I just decided that I was going to run until I couldn't run anymore....

And 12 minutes, and 1+ mile later.... I DID IT!! I RAN A MILE!!

This is a major personal accomplishment for me, and I just HAD to share it will all of you, the only *friends* in my life who would really understand!!

You go girl!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

And it gets easier after a few weeks of doing it.

You should be very proud of yourself

Katie,

As another person who thinks she can't run a mile -- I think your accomplishment is awesome!! But -- now you know you CAN! Maybe I'll join you some day... Congrats!

That is AWESOME!!! I'll bet your friend is so proud of you, and I'm sure your accomplishment will be a source of inspiration for her when she runs today.

Great Going and Congratulations!

You did it!!!!!!! Great job! WARNING: Running is addictive!!! ;) I did the same thing, I didn't start running until I was 27 (I'm 31 now). And I was exactly the same, I would walk the mile in HS. Flash forward... at age 29 I ran my first marathon!! So, if you enjoy it... keep it up!

Jess, you are so right! I used to run about 30 years ago, then stopped (because at one point, going up a hill I thought: "I hate this") so FF to this past summer, and due to surgery, my cardio was limited, but I could run...so after building up to to, I have started again...I´m slow and I don´t go far, but I LOVE it again and am getting ready even now to do a 4.5 mile run...(ok, jog ;))
