MAJOR personal accomplishment!!

Jess, you are so right! I used to run about 30 years ago, then stopped (because at one point, going up a hill I thought: "I hate this") so FF to this past summer, and due to surgery, my cardio was limited, but I could run...so after building up to to, I have started again...I´m slow and I don´t go far, but I LOVE it again and am getting ready even now to do a 4.5 mile run...(ok, jog ;))

That is great!! Building up slower miles is a great way to not deal w/ running injuries. Running really is a mind game, if you tell yourself you can, you can really go a lot further! ;)

That is great Katie! I love to run and at 56, I feel proud to say I can STILL do it! Ha! (Thanks to Cathe & my love for fitness) It IS addictive and you'll just get better & better. I am so happy for you!

Congrats katie!!!!! Buiding up to the first mile is the hardest part, adding distance to the mile is much easier!!!!!! Kim

I haven't been checking into the forums for quite a while. But I just had to reply to this one! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! It must feel so great to have accomplished a one mile run. Wishing you plenty more and yes, YOU CAN DO IT!

:D
I'll cut right to the chase -- for the first time EVER in my life, I RAN A MILE!!!

I was always the girl in high school who walked the mile in PE class and got a failing grade because of it. Until Cathe, I've never been consitently physically active EVER.

Running has always been, to me, the pinnacle of physical fitness. But I've spent 26 years telling myself that I can't do it.

Long story short... I have a friend who is running a half marathon today, so I decided to dedicate my workout to her. I was going to do an interval run/walk (2 minutes of each). But at some point, I just decided that I was going to run until I couldn't run anymore....

And 12 minutes, and 1+ mile later.... I DID IT!! I RAN A MILE!!

This is a major personal accomplishment for me, and I just HAD to share it will all of you, the only *friends* in my life who would really understand!!

That is so awesome. You have every reason to be proud of yourself. Think of those who never even try to walk or run a mile---and you attempted AND did it! Well done! Enjoy every second of your afterglow.

Good for you Katie!!! what an accomplishment! I don't think I could jog/run even a quarter of that! You SHOULD be very proud! :)

I bet you could!! You just have to try!!

I used to say, if someone walked up to me and told me they'd give me a million dollars if I ran a mile, I couldn't do it. That's how SURE I was that I COULDN'T do it. But I did!!

Thanks to all of you for your congratulations and support!! I can't wait to discover what else I can do that I didn't think I could!

(My legs are a bit sore today, though:eek:)
