Lurker Invitations July Check-In

Good Evening Everyone,

I'm back and had the most terrific time. Got lots of one on one time with all my 4 sisters, and 3 brothers. I just love my family. The wedding was fun, talked, danced and visited everyone there.

My hair came out fine. Color and cut--same thing, every 10 weeks. I've been going to the same hairstylist since the fall of 1984! She's just a few years older than I am but one of these days, she is going to retire and I'm going to be miserable. Every once in a while someone else in her salon has to do my hair and I hate it. When someone has been handling your head for 25 years, you really get used to them.

Janie: hmmm, I know you're not feeling great but don't fall off the exercise wagon for too long. You've been doing so well.

More later after I exercise today.~michelle
Michelle, So glad you have a great hair stylist, you are very lucky. Your hair sounds lovely. You are right about not falling off the wagon. I didn't exercise much this week, ate, games, talking for hours on end...but, I plan on getting back in the game after this weekend. I need to bake bread, make something out of all the apricots my sister let me pick off her tree. Clean the house...stuff like that there. Monday Joey and I will get back to our exercises. There is nothing planned, so we have no excuse.

Good morning all - I'm back!

Janie, if you're reading this, I hope you're having a terrific time with your sibs, and that the breathing situation has calmed down to normal, along with your sleep. Do you think there is any tie to the medication you are taking for GERD? Your doc might want to know.
Deborah, So far I've been fine, and I haven't taken the medication either. Hmmmm. I've been drinking the tea I've mentioned and doing really good with that. Rather do anything else than take pills.

So been out for a few days. Got off track the last few days of vacation, but overall I did ok. I got home late Thursday night and while we were greeting our Great Pyrenees puppy in the yard she started to bark and ran off after a GIANT bear that was in our yard!! We had not seen the bear before and we are lucky Maggie was there. She chased the bear back into the woods barking the whole way. Welcome back to Colorado!

I have Legs & Glutes on the calendar for today but I don't know if I will get time to do it. My DH made plans for us to go to Aspen for the weekend so I have a ton of things to do before we leave this afternoon. It will be a fun trip, we are visiting an old friend of ours, but it does put a kink in my workout plans!!
Laura, I'm so afraid of bears! How do you do it? Enjoy Aspen this weekend. And you are still working out. I need to be more like that when I'm away from home.

Take care, and see you all later.

Janie

Good Mornin Everyone,

I spent an hour last night posting and not eliminating anyone, but for some reason lost all of it. Don't want to do that again. It could have been because I used too much space and way over the allotted words. Who knows.

Shoegal, So sorry for your loss.:( The way you described your father's funeral seems to me how much he was loved in life. I believe that is part of life, to love, and be loved. How proud you must have felt. Thank you so much for sharing this most important and heartfelt part of your life with us.

Michelle, That must have been so scary for you! Also so relieved that you don't have cancer. What would we do without our Michelle? When doing step, be sure you are gentle and smooth, no sudden moves. OK?

I've read all the posts and see everyone else is doing pretty well with the exercises. Great job!

I have a lot of work to do today. Baking bread, got a lot of apricots from my sisters trees and will be making juice and freezing that. Have lots of raspberries to pick and freezing them as well.

Hope to do yoga today, then will start another exercise program Monday with Joey. There is nothing stopping us now. No more excuses. All of our obligations are done for this Summer.

Take care and will peek in later today to see how everyone is doing.

Janie

Yesterday, I did exercise for the first time since Wednesday. Did Step Jam and kept it low impact all the way. Did okay with that. I'm contemplating trying 4DS LIS today--I need to preview it first though--never done it before. I like 4DS HIS, but that still might be to much bouncing for now. Also want to get in a little weight work. Guess I'll see how the day goes.

Laura: I'm sorry to hear that your DH's grandmother has been dx with breast cancer. I imagine that her providers might approach treatment differently due to her age. Let us know how she is doing.

Janie: welcome home. Good to have you back with us. You sure don't let any grass grow under your feet. I'm not crazy about apricots but the raspberries sound really good.

Shadowpup: How long has it been since your breast cancer experience? And how many times a year do you have to have a mammo now? Once? Twice? Also, thanks for the information on the wieght magnets. I'm going to start looking for a deal.

Back again--did 4DS LIS, step only. First time through with this routine. Got most of it, but it was hard to remember all 3 segments at the end. Fun workout; it goes by really fast. Looking forward to doing it again later in the week.

Just a quick check in with my workout. Did 4DS Kickbox-cardio only yesterday and STS AC Stability Ball. Did not try the 1-legged pikes since my 2-legged pikes are still not very pretty! ;)

Today I got a jump on the week with STS Meso 2 week 1 CST LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! Plus CF All Step, and SM no equipment! Feel pretty good right now!

Janie, so glad you are back and that you had a nice relaxing time! I love apricots! My GM had a tree and we canned from it all the time I was growing up! Really miss the fresh apricots!

Good day to everyone! TTYL :)

Michelle, You are a stepping fool like me. You did great.

Ironlady, How in the world is it even possible to do the one legged pike? LOL I love my memories of my Grandma too.

Today is exercise, don't know what we will be doing yet. Will post later for that.

Hi to everyone else that follows,

Janie

Janie: BBL: be back later--a good acronym to add to your repetoire.

This morning I was back to Slow and Heavy Chest, Back and Planks. Stayed with my higher weight amounts from last week. Happy to be lifting those weights again.

Shadowpup: Fitness1st.com looks to have the best price on platemates: $19.95 a pair. Have to call them to see how much shipping and handling is. I'm also wondering if the donut rings fit on a barbell too? Seems like if they do, that the donut rings would provide the maximum use versus the hex.

Janie: I do love to do step. I'm enjoying learning 4DS LIS, but I do love those oldies on Cardio Hits and The Classics.

Ironlady: yes, pray tell, what is a one-legged pike? Sounds interesting. Is that like an inverted pike on the stability ball but on one-leg? Yikes!

Hi to Laura and Shoegal, too. We are missing you.
~michelle

Good morning everyone. Just a quick post. One of those dreaded double-dark thirty, early mornings in order to beat the traffic and make a meeting at the Pentagon today. That means no exercise today:(, but I'm enjoying some good DOMs from S&H Chest and Back yesterday.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Check in Tuesday 7/21

Trying to catch up at work - so I didn't post yesterday.

Last night I did the Timesaver DVD - managed to acutally purchase this when it went on sale - 30% just sounded like an incredible deal and although I had avoided purchasing this in the past because I really don't like to do workouts that are less than an hour - I thought - well - sometimes you need quick workouts for busy days. So I did workout #2 - 40 minutes. I actually had the time to do more but felt I should start slow - not do too much. Workout #2 had some hi/lo - lost my taste for hi/lo have to say. Those parts were so boring - there were some step and a little lifting. Actually, can't remember the workouts these came from right now but I found it wonderful to workout again - it felt very good. I am waiting for some major DOMS right now and feel nothing so far. I'm not sure what I'll do tonight.

Oh - I saw the new Harry Potter over the weekend - anybody see that??? It was good but it has been so long since I've read the book and I was a little vague on the details. DH kept asking for some info since he hasn't read any of the books - I was struggling with the answers. Heck - I even know the ending and should know all of the secrets but I can't remember anymore.

So hello to all of you out there -

Janie - glad you had a lovely time at the wedding and seeing your siblings - I know I wouldn't want to be away from mine for too long. I'm lucky that they all live right by me.

Michelle - Glad everything turned out fine on the tests - breast cancer is very scary - so happy you are alright. My DH is pushing heavily to buy a boat - he has been looking at sailboats - 18 footers. That size is my idea - I thought we ought to start very small - he has owned boats before and a sailboat before but it has been many years since he has sailed. This is so small there isn't any space at all to workout on which is fine - I don't think I'll be on it for an extended amout where I'll need to. Makes me wonder again about the Silver Lining - is this a sailboat??? and how big is it? Must be quite large to have the space.

Laura - well - you certainly have been traveling!!!! Sounded like great trips - and you did a great job keeping up with the workouts. Aren't you scared stiff of the bears????!! I would be - we've been hearing about the coyotes up our way - haven't seen one but I am starting to wonder about letting the pups just run about on their own especially at night.

Shadowpups - geeze ship those gallons of fruits up my way!! We have some wild raspberries that grow along the lane we live on and we like to pick and eat them occasionally but I don't think there is enough to do anything major with them.

Ironlady - don't worry my pikes are quite bad right now - I thought - well, I'll get better eventually - it takes time - they had those in the timesaver DVD I just did.

Well - bbl - I also wasn't sure what this was either - but it is useful - have a great day everyone.

Michelle, Slow and heavy is a great workout to be sure. I find it more of an endurance workout though. I've always thought it to be more of a pumping iron for muscles. That would be Meso 3 LOL.:D I know what you mean about lifting heavy, Joey and I did Total Sculpting premix for 2 X around, yesterday and we used very heavy weight. Still have it! Can't believe the muscle memory we have. Could even see the muscle moving. WOW. Love Cardio Hits and the Classics as well, and even did Step Jam today. Whew!

Michelle, I know what you mean having to get up early. Been there done that. Love DOM's too, man, seems Joey and I especially feel it today.

Shoegal, Haven't done Timesaver for such a long time. Did you figure out what workout to do for tonight? Also looking forward to See Harry Potter. Thanks for the review. It's been a long time since I read the books too.

Today I did Step Jam. Not pretty, but finished, barely. Then Joey and I took our boat out for a ride in Mason Lake. It was a test run and the boat rode well, but the ropes need replacements. Had a ball!

I also want to announce that I've been writing a book about soap and recipes for the last two years. I should be able to send it to 1 of 4 publishers that I picked out from the library. I'll use one at a time until/maybe they will like it enough to publish it for me. Wish me luck. Should be mailed by the end of this week. FINALLY!

Hi to everyone who follows, BBL,

Janie

Good Evening All!

Today's workout BM2... timesaver premix and weights abs (should have been weights and plates :( ) will do plates tomorrow after legs!

Ordered the Classics, Power Hour +, and the other classic step dvd... wanted to replace my old tapes with the DVD's and seemed like as good a time as any with 30% off the classics and was enough to get free shipping! :) Since all you enablers have pumped me up for theose older step routines! ;)

Janie, writing a book sounds fantastic! My cousin and some of her sorority sisters wrote a cookbook ... always thyme for friends.... I think that is the name. Anyway, best of luck and prayers fr great success! :)

Michelle, yes one-legged pikes are just that. pike with one leg in the air the other on the ball! Yikes!

Shoegal, thanks for the encouragement! I will continue to muddle through and one day i know my pikes will look like they are supposed to! ;)

Hello to Laura, Shadowpup and everyone else! TTYL

It's so good to have almost everyone back on the check-in. Shadowpup must be on travel. Wondering where Laura is?

This morning I did 4DS LIS--got in my cardio and shoulder work for the week. I like this workout, but I feel like Cathe rushes through the weight work a bit and the lifting is off the rhythm of the music which makes me a little crazy. Tomorrow will be S&H Biceps and Triceps. Oh boy!

Janie: Writing a book sounds daunting. I do quite a bit of report writing, but I just can't imagine undertaking writing a book. Good for you. Now, you've got to tell us a little more about your topic: soap and recipes? Will your title be "Clean Eating"?

Shoegal: Silver Lining is a power boat--sport fish. I have some pictures posted on my Cathe space. An 18 foot sailboat sounds like a good start. Most folks seem to start small, work their way up, and then back down in size.
I'm betting you don't get any DOMs, but you are probably wise to ease back into the workouts. I have timesaver and I think I've done the 3rd and 5th workouts on the dvd. It's been a while since I've looked at that one.

Ironlady: you are going to love the Classics and Cardio Hits. They both have great step workouts on them. Don't you agree, Janie?

~michelle

Check in Wednesday 7/22/09

Last night - took a whole bunch of workouts in to DH (as he was searching for boats online) and told him to pick one. He chose - Boot Camp/Muscle Endurance. I eyed that with trepidation - decided to do the Pre Mix of ME - Upper Body Split - do I did that. Again - had a great time. And I thought after tonight which will be some sort of cardio - I will do Lower Body Split on Thursday.

So sorry - must dash - will post more in bit.

Okay so I got STS Legs done but not the plates abs :( my legs are just jello and was afraid I would hurt myself! LOL

I know I will Love those step workouts but, am afraid I am going to have to start really modifying. High impact is really taking a toll on my feet! May just have to cut it down to only one High Impact a week!

Bye for now! At least I got my spelling right tonight! hehe

Hi all, just wanted to let you know I'm back. I was able to cut two days out of the trip, which was nice :)

More later - I'm pretty tired ... and tomorrow, it's the start of week 4, meso 2, so I'd best get some sleep.

Hi to all and am looking forward to getting caught up.:D

Sorry - thought I would have more time to post yesterday - and never got back to it.

Last night - decided to do LoMax - pre mix the step combos only. That worked out great - I actually thought I might be a little bored by them especially since Cathe breaks it all down and repeats everything a couple times - but I wasn't and it turned out to be a pretty good workout for 44 minutes. Still trying to get back into everything slowly and Michelle -you are rights - no DOMS - I'm amazed!

Ironlady - yes be careful of your feet - I need to keep that in mind with my back. I found that when I did the Upper Body Split from ME I wasn't careful enough and I should have been - I have been feeling it. I am also eyeing up the Classics - I have been wanting it and I can't help myself but I'm worried I'll find her older step workouts boring.

MIchelle - I went to look at Silver Lining - beautiful boat and big!! I have to admit that it looks better to me than a sailboat and not as complicated but I'm sure I'm wrong about that. I need to learn boat lingo - so to speak. DH refers to a jib, furling, genoa - huh??? Oh and Chelsea is a beautiful girl too and she looked like fun to have around.

Shadowpup - glad you're back. Will check back to see what you have to say later.

Laura and Janie - where are you?

Hope to hear from everyone - hope your day is a good one.

Quick check-in this morning. Did S&H Triceps and Biceps.

Shoegal: some boat lingo is the same across platforms while some is specific to the type of boat: sail or power. Genoa, jib, furling are all sailboat terms. You will have fun learning all this stuff.

Off to Quantico for the day.
~michelle

Ironlady, BMS Timesaver, great workout. You will love the Power Hour and the other DVD's you ordered. Good for you to wanting to be even more in tune with your body.

Michelle, Summer is a time where there is a lot of activity and people go on vacation. I suspect that is what people are doing, and not posting as often. There will be more posts when the schools start up again. Great workout with 4DS LIS. About the book, I thought it would only take 3 months, It's taking over 2 years. Whew! Maybe more like Cean Bodies! LOL:eek:. Just kidding.

Ironlady, wise choice to listen to your body. You most likely prevented an ingery. There is nothing wrong at all about modifying. My favorite thing to do.

Deborah, Glad you had extra time to yourself from your trip. Love Meso 2. There you will diffently see improvement in heavier weights and in your body. Great Job! Seriously.

Shoegal, LowMax premixes are great. So glad your workouts are treating you well. Going slow into workouts after a time away from them is a smart thing to do. I'm amazed you don't have DOM's. Lucky you.
One of my sister from East of the mountains came over for a surprise visit. I've been wrapped up visiting for two days. Had a great time with her. Taled, cried, laughed, you know, one on one with sisters. It was very special.

Michelle, good job on S&H. Have fun in Quantico. What did you do? Anything special?

Took a day off today from activities and will start again tomorrow.

Janie

Oh Goodness, I am so behind on personals! Our internet was down for a few days, it turns out is was a loose wire and then I have been so busy I haven't had a chance. I haven't read the personals yet, cause once again I am in a rush, however maybe I will get a chance later tonight. I almost didn't check in because I didn't have the time to catch up, but decided to just jump back in and get into the swing of it again..

So I have been working out even though I haven't checked in:

Monday: Monster DaY! 8 mile hike up to Crater Lakes, beautiful alpine lake, butt kicker hike, then my 2 classes back to back, 1st pilates and then Total Tone, where I did a modified version of sorts of Muscle Max.

Tuesday: Another Monster Day!! Pilates Class in am, came home and did the timesaver premix of GS Legs and the cardio only premix from 4DS Low Impact Step, and then back to the Rec Center to join all the instructors to do Tony Hurton's P90X Core Synergistic.

Wed: active recovery day with easy walk in Boulder, flat firm surface 30 minutes and then I tried an Aerial Yoga class for the first time

Thursday: taught Pilates and then just finished GS BS&B.. had cardio portion premix from Low Impact Circuit Step that I was supposed to do yesterday, almost did it today but when I saw the length, 481/2 minutes decided not to since I need to get ready to go out for dinner.

So I think that is all, will try & catch up with personals soon!!

Laura, Your workouts are absolutely great. You have to have a lot of energy for them. Good for you!

Hi to everyone else who follows:

Today we did Total Body Sculpting with heavy weight. I sure had DOM's for a few days with this workout. It is suppose to be an easy one, but using heavy weight makes it (I think) intermediate routine.

Had fun doing it, because Joey seems to really enjoy that one.

Will be out for a hike or a boat ride today, don't know which one yet.

Janie
