Lurker Invitations Check-In, January

Good Morning,

Joey and I will be doing Muscle Max today.

Elle, Today there is no Jury Duty, but then there is several more days to call in. I think the experience will be great if I'm chosen. The check in for me helps also. I think it's just the right amount of a boost to keep myself going. Hey, that's a great way of talking yourself out of unwanted food.:)

Tracy Lynn, You are not blind, it just isn't obvious to you. Around the blue box that you post in is another gray box. Inside the gray box are all these things I've mentioned. And there are smilies on the right side (where you are posting) inside the gray box.

Hope that helps you. If not please let me know, we'll see what else we can do.;) I think 460 calories it great to burn. I'm hoping to burn that much today. I hope you do warm up, that seems so cold to me! Congratulations for changing careers. Sounds like a great idea. Wish you luck.

Sarah, CLX has compound moves? No wonder most of them are not so long. I've got to get these somehow!:D

Ladubose, Congratulations on purchasing the Tosca Reno, it's a grate book. I ordered STS, can't wait for it to arrive. You are doing so good on your workouts.:)

No jury duty today, but I still have to call in for several more days.

Hi to Ramona, Shadowpup, and Tracy

Hi Everyone,
It's still freezing here! They say with the windchill it is -35 to -40 and i believe it! In about an hour i'll be doing my yoga practice.

Janie: I must be blind because i don't see any tool bars around this box that i'm writing in either for fonts, bold etc. Is this maybe a priviledge we don't have access to?

Ladubose: what a trooper you are! I would have fainted if they took that much blood from me.

Sprom: You mentioned Cathe's GS series is your fave from Cathe. I have been debating getting this for a while. I'm thinking maybe once i lose 10 pounds to reward myself with it or CLX. I'll have to check out some clips.

Tlstot: Good luck with the new course!

Hello to Tracy, Shadowpup, and Ramona. Hope you are all doing well.

See you all tomorrow!
Elle

Just found this in another thread:

Go to "User CP" (on the blue bar at the top of the page). Under "Settings and Options," click on "Edit Options." Scroll all the way down to "Miscellaneous Options" on the bottom of the page. Choose "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing" and click on the "Save Changes" button. You should see a box of smileys on the right side of the editing box when you post a new message. This will make it easy to change the font and add pretty colors to your messages too.

Elle,

I'm such a nit wit sometimes. I forgot to tell you about having to make it work, not how it works. I'm so sorry.

Anyway, have fun doing it and glad you found out how to do it. You are a smart lady!

Again, I'm so sorry for the aggravation,

Janie

SWEET! THANK YOU ELLE!!!!!!!

Well, Just finished up my workout! It was GS Back and Bi's then Turbo Jam CP#3 (Love that one by the way!:D) I burned about 550 cals.

My lil' brother lost his bball game:(. Oh well, He played pretty good though. My class went well too. I don't think it will be too tough, just BOARING sitting through 2hrs and 45 min of class once a week!

Ladabose- HEART RATE MONITORS RULE!!!! CLX is the new Beachbody set with Chalene Johnson- (The turbo jam lady!)

Janie! Oh I love Muscle Max. I did a rotation with that video last month!

Everyone have a lovely night and see ya tomarrow!!!

I'm back! Sorry about disappearing for a few days, but there was a family "crisis". Long story short, my younger sister has been lying about something that no one wanted to call her on because of her explosive temper. I finally had enough and let her know that we knew. She's now no longer speaking to me. Though everyone has told me I'd done the right thing & it was high time someone did, no one has the courage to back me up for fear she'll lash out at them. They don't understand that they are empowering her to act the way she does.

Sigh.

The good news is that I'd gotten rid of all the junk food in the house last weekend so, though I haven't exercised the last few days, I also didn't "emotional eat", either.

Today I've done a 4 mile walk, have had 1/2C of steel cut oatmeal w/ milk and a salad. I've also decided to enjoy that there's a big, fat ocean between my family and me at the moment. I feel good that I was honest with my sister, did what I could to protect my family and didn't drown my sorrows in chocolate.

Ramona

Hey Ramona! That's sad about the family crisis. I hope everything works out ok. Good job about controling the emotional eating. I find that when I am board I tend to just want to eat! Not a good idea! Anyway, are you overseas in a different country? How exciting if you are!:D

Hi All,

Elle - it is freezing here in MN still. It was 47 below with the wind chill when I woke up this morning. School was canceled yesterday and today so my kids have a lot of pent up energy since it's too cold to go outside. It's suppose to be a bit warmer by the time I get off work so we'll have to go out to eat or something. The GS series from Cathe is my absolute favorite so far. I really feel like I've accomplished something when I'm done with it.

Ladubose - CLX is Chalene Johnson's new workout series ChaLEAN Extreme. Chalene did the Turbo Jam workouts. CLX is all weights. It's a three month program. There are three weight workouts each week and then two cardio wo. The weights do compound moves so you work your lower body in all of them and then the upper body is broken out in splits.

Tracy Lynn - Last summer I alternated the GS series with Cathe's Pure Strenth and Slow and Heavy. Whew!! Now that was a rotation:D I was very please with the changes in my upper body. Oh, CP3 is my absolute favorite TJ wo!!

Janie - I don't think you'd regret the CLX series. I've never lifted so heavy before - even with Cathe. Chalene does bonus "extreme" segments where you lift very heavy for only 3 reps. Tough stuff!!

Today's workout was Burn Circuit #3.

Have a great day!

Sarah

Good Evening,

Sarah, How can you stand the cold? Berrrrrrrr!

Tracy Lynn, How's it going? Congratulations on all the calories you are burning.

Ramona, Sorry about your family problems. That sucks. Yeah, for the junk food being gone!;) I really am going to have to get CLX ASAP.

I did Low Impact Circuit. 30 min. of premix cardio.

Talk with you all later,

Janie

Tracy Lynn: I am trying out the color, we'll see if it works!

Ellie: Hang in there with that cold! You are a tougher woman than me and I live at 9,600 feet in the rockies, but it is a glorious sunny day with great snow on the ground and about 38* no wind:)

Ramona,: sorry to hear about your sister, it is a very hard thing to call a loved one out, but it really is the most loving thing to do. Good job not turning to food for comfort, that is a hard one for me too!
Sarah: thanks for the info about CLX and I am terrified of getting turned onto a new person! I have so much money and time invested in Cathe already, but I think I did a Chalene workout with my Mother In Law over christmas, it definetly was a Turbo Jam so I bet it was her. It was fun we did a 20 minute Turbo Jam Blast that was great.
Janie, how do you get those great pics as a signature?

today will be GS Legs {GS is still my fav} and a cross-country ski with my 8 year old twins. Tomorrow I am hoping to ski at the mountain with my fam.

Laura

I looked Chalene up on line and sure enough I did some of her workouts at my In-laws, she is quite the character. I didn't find CLX at her official website though. I think I like Cathe better, she seems a little less Hollywood and more down to earth, which suits me. But I did enjoy the 20 minute turbo Jam and Turbo Sculpt, and Chalene's energy is cute & bubbly.

Back for the weekend!

Hi all,

I'm back for the weekend. Wow! We've really grown! Lurkers of the world, unite!

It was such a treat to log on to my email account and see the STS announcement last night. I'd been hoping to start in Feb. I'm still torn about the three month versus six month rotation; if Cathe is doing a 3 month, it is very tempting to do that version. My weird schedule may make a 6 month rotation better. What a *nice* problem to have.

There's clearly quite a bit of reading I have to do to catch up on what all of you have been doing ... for now, let me just post my past week's workouts:

Mon - kettlebells, AOS Providence first six, with a 15lb.
Tues - 4DS kickbox only, plus a dozen pushups
Wed - 4DS kickbox only, a few kettlebells again!
Thurs - rest day
Friday - 4DS kickbox, kettlebells

Today, I think I'll add in a few of the three-star 1RMs for upper body, pullups, and do a thorough upper body workout with Cathe. Haven't decided which dvd - maybe Pyramid, although I'm thinking that there is a slow and heavy DVD that I haven't even opened, and it is calling my name ...

Hey Lurky-Lou's!

Well, I did amy bento hi/low extreme. I've had this workout for a while but always got frustrated with the moves and quit half way through. Well I made it through this time with out too many goofs:eek:. I burned about 520 cals.

Anyways the weather finally got above zero! How's it for you ellie? Warmer I hope!;).

Tonight I am going into a fish fry at the bar in this super small town. I've never had bull heads, but thats whats on the menu:p. It should be fun.

Hope everyone has an awesome Saturday night and Sunday!

Hello All,
I did not have a chance to check-in yesterday (or workout) due to to some unexpected drama i had after my yoga class last night (see my blog for details if you are interested).

Today i did KPC for the first time. I made it up to almost the end of Combo #2 and then called it quits. I'm sure once i get more familiar and comfortable with the moves i will enjoy this workout more.

It started snowing here this afternoon and it's still coming down (10:45pm here). I'm hoping the temperatures will rise a little. It's been sooo cold this week!

Shadowpup & Ramona: Nice to see you back!

EWWW, The bullhead feed was NASTY!!!! (NEED BARF ICON!) The fish still had tails and fins, YUCK!
Anyway's yesterday I hardly did a darn thing. No workout, just TV watching and then I went to watch my BF play volleyball. I also ate ice cream! OOPS oh well. I only have 4 days of work this week then BF and I are going to MEXICO:D! I am super excited!!!!! I will definately NOT be working out there! It will be my rest week:p!

Elle- I don't have KPC, but is one I definately want sometime! Too may workout DVDS! You'll get it soon I bet, new ones take a while to master.

Shadow- Awesome job on the workouts last week! Kettlebells are another thing I would like to try!

Ladubose- Chalene is definately NOT Cathe! But it's nice to switch it up a little.

Janie, Sarah, and Romona- I hope your weekends were great!

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope most of you have the day off for Martin Luther King, it is nice for me to be home with my girls for an extra day. We went skiing yesterday at our little mountain Eldora, and it was one of those glorious Colorado days, bright blue skies and sunny and relatively warm for being out on the snow.

I wore my heart rate monitor because I was curious how many cals I would burn. I burnt 745 cals :eek:in 2:30 hours which is amazing since I only did two runs on the green slopes because the girls brought two friends with them who my DH and I were teaching to ski, {since their parents don't ski} That blew my mind it was absolutely no effort for me, but I guess you are still up and about walking around in those inefficient ski boots! Now I am curious how much I burn when I am skiing for myself. I am going to try and get out tomorrow and do some runs and see....

Shadowpup: I have been very curious about kettlebells, there is quite a lot of buzz about them on this website and I see Cathe sells them, but she doesn't have a DVD with them does she?

Tracy Lynn: Have fun in Mexico I am green with envy for a week on the beach!

Elle: I am curious about what your work out week looks like. I teach Pilates Class 2x a week and Privates 5 x a week and a Ski Conditioning Class (1 X a week} And I have trouble working my own work outs into that structure. Do you have any advice?

Hi to Janie, Ramona & Sarah.

Good Morning,

Hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoying the day off today.

Laura, The way you described your skiing trip sounds so majestic. I can visualize the beauty of the mountain. 745 calories burned? How wonderful is that? Were you able to get out by yourself and ski.? I do snowshoeing when I can , during the Winter mouths in the Olympic mountains. When I'm lucky enough to go this Winter, I'll try and find out how many calories I burned too. I think since it's so much fun, I may burn a lot of calories as well. We'll see.

Shadowpup, I'm with you on STS. Don't know if I want to do 3 or 6 months. I'm leaning towards 6 months. Your wourkouts look awesome! I still have several pages of the 1RM's left to do. Can't wait to get STS in the mail.

Tracy Lyn, Congratulations on completing the hi/low extreme. It's great to be improving, isn't it? Bull heads, I think, are related or are catfish. Joey and I sometimes fish for them and cook them with cracker crumbs. They have NO fins or tails on them. We fillet them, so there are hardly any bones.

Elle, I love kPC. It takes a little getting use to, but once you do, it's a fantastic workout.

Sat. I did a couple of pages testing my 1RM's. Sun. was Rhythmic Step. Fun!
today might be a rest day. Don't know yet.

Hi to Ramona, Sarah and Tracy.

Talk with you soon,

Janie
