A few months ago, I said I wanted to do things differently during my second 45 years of my life, and I am. This is just the start.

Today, at the age of 45 and 190.5 lbs, I've run my first 10K! I was cheesing from ear to ear as I neared the finish line and crossed it at 1:19.45. I did quite a few walks during the race, but I finished!

I spent 9 1/2 years in the Marine Corps when I was younger. I marched, hiked and ran many miles whenever and whereever they told me to. But, today, I've never been more proud of myself. I never, ever do great, big things just for me; just because I want to. Never. But, I did today. This run for totally for me. I did this for me, and me only. And, I feel so accomplished.

Yahooo...Good for you and well done!! That is a huge jumpstart on the next 45!!!
Enjoy the rest of your Holiday!!

Shereta--CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm so excited for you. I know exactly what you are feeling and there is NOTHING like it, right??:D:D:D
Keep up the momentum!

AWESOME, AWESOME job!!!!!
Keep finding time to take care of yourself (you are worth it!) and you will be amazed at how much more energy and patience you have to take care of those around you.
You GO girl!!!!
Congrats!

Thanks Everyone for the well-wishes. I went on to cook dinner, dessert and clean the kitchen. I'm glad I kept moving, because I think it loosened up my legs and feet.

I just passed my running shoes and the timed-event tag is still on my laces. I think I'll leave it there as a reminder of this wonderful day.

Thank you so much for your Marine Corp service...:)...and Congrats on the great time for your 1st 10K Shereta!!...:)

WTG on your accomplishment, Shereta!

Good for you! I'm so proud of you--what an inspiration. I love your attitude. Enjoy the euphoria--you've earned it!

I will keep training. I'll be looking for my next 10k tomorrow. It's motivating me even more to drop more weight which will help my run time.

I think I want to work up to a half marathon (13.1). And then I'll be done.
