Oooookay...
The "reviewer" obviously ignored the muscle confusion principle... same exercises mixed around and intercepted by new ones... I wonder what she'd write IF she had actually followed the program... hmmm....
Besides, I think that editing the same exercise to appear as a back-off set or a 8/7/6 rep when it's actually a 12 rep takes some serious "Hollywood" editing.
It's one thing to do the same workout on a regular basis and another (and more fun I believe) to add variety to that workout by adding exercises or rearranging the exercise order.
For those of us who had spent time in gyms in the past, how often did we have our trainer change our workout regime completely?... From what I recall it was one or two exercises added or substituted every month or so or when we hit plateaus. Exactly what Cathe does in the STS series.
Cathe was pretty clear on the structure of STS and the sequences shot. She was also VERY clear on the weight load we should use and her not "disclosing" what weight load she is using.
So, my advice is: before you start reviewing a workout DVD sitting on your couch and playing with your remote control get your workout clothes, gloves and trainers on and DO IT! And, please, please, read what the creators have to say about it...
Cathe is hardly a person who would choose the easy way when putting out a new DVD series. Don't you agree?
Chris.
P.S. I've given my 2c on P90X in the past (not a favorite of mine by any aspect - too repetitive and narcissistic by my standards, what you get mostly at a gym with people showing off how many pull ups or push ups they can do...) but it is unfair to compare a 12-disc set to a 41-disc set. Guess who put more thought into their program?...
