Interesting things about you

- I share Debbie's OCD behavior about locks and burners and must check them several times before leaving home
- I often turn around and drive back home to make sure my garage door is closed even though I know I checked it before pulling out of the driveway
- when I empty the dishwasher I put the clean dishes at the bottom of the stack so that we don't keep using the same dishes over and over again. I do the same with silverware. Yeah..I know...weird;-)
- I won't leave my house until I have located my kitty cat because I'm paranoid that I unknowingly shut him in a room or that the little devil slipped out the patio door (he is STRICTLY an indoor cat)
- another one who is claustrophobic in crowds and does not like large gatherings of people
- when dusting, all items must be returned to the EXACT spot on the table/shelf. I actually have little marks on my fireplace mantel so I know exactly where to return my decorative items
- sometimes the ^^^ obsessions are cumbersome even to me;(

Okay here goes.

I auditioned for Star Search when I was 14 years old and made it, but did not win.

I truly thought I would be the next Karen Carpenter,

I have to clean all of the counters before I do the dishes after dinner,

I LOVE windex and paper towels.

I worry about everything.

My biggest fear is getting cancer(noone I know has ever had cancer)

I will not leave the house without oil of olay moisturizer and lipstick.

Do not enjoy sex and never have(I know too much info)

very much an introvert, but hide it pretty well

That is all I can think of right now.

I have never admitted this out loud, but I guess I am kinda OCD in some things. I have this thing about odd numbers! Usually in threes. It is hard to explain. Like, if I see a number on the clock, I have to wait till all the numbers add up to an odd number. I hate 13. If I see that on a clock, like 1:13, I have to wait till it changes before I can leave.
I double, triple check everything too.
I ALWAYS have to check my kids before I go to bed (not that odd for a mother), but I have to actually put my hand on them and FEEL them breathing before I can go to bed.
Boy, I am really weird. LOL!!
I also have a severe fear of disappointing people, especially my parents. I don;t know why. They are the best parents around, never had issues, but it is weird.
Think it is because everyone I knew was SOO proud of me being in the service, that when I got out, I didn't have ajob right away. I eventually became a SAHM, which is what I want more then anything, BUT, sometimes I am afraid people think I am wasting all that training and doing nothing with my life. A slacker or something.
I know it isn't true, but I feel that way sometimes.
Wow, that is the first time I have admiited all that! LOL!!!

Okay, a few of mine:

*I am a compulsive reader...I must always have a book with me ever since I can remember....if not I will read just about anything...including the cereal box.
*My dad was a cop, and I am secretly (okay maybe not so secretly) obsessed with anything remotely law enforcement/forensic science related
*I adore the bagpipes and all Celitc music
* Show me a man wearing a kilt and my knees get all mushy....even better if he is holding a set of bagpipes
*Potatoes are my favorite comfort food.
*I am terribly, painfully shy, though those who know me can not believe this is true......just like how I would have never guessed that about Shelley
*I am married to someone that I should not have married and sadly met the man I should have married about 6 years ago.....big sigh
*Since I am so small(barely 5ft)I am terrified of crowds....can't see beyond the person in front of me....it really freaks me out.

OK, here goes...
1. I went to college with the guy who played Alan the rapist on Days of Our Lives--he asked me to go to Hollywood with him and I declined.
2. I had a radical hyseterectomy at Mayo clinic at 32 for cervical cancer. I should mention I went from normal pap to invasive cancer in one year--ladies get those paps!!
3. I love animals and married an avid hunter/taxidermist
4. My great great grandmother was never married and had ten kids
5. I have irrational fears like that my car is going to catch on fire if I throw a cigarette out the window
6. I try to keep a clean house, but have mellowed. I try not to sweat the small stuff too much any more.

How fun! Here goes:

1) I am a little shy/reserved when I first meet people and sometimes it is mistaken for standoffish-ness.

2) (Keeping #1, above in mind) once I get to know you, I am loud, fun (at least I'd like to think so), and don't shut up!

3) I have a weakness for 80s music - Hair Bands (Poison, Motley Crue, etc., and Old School rap music (think Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Vanilla Ice, etc., LOL). I have been known to drive down the highway blasting it in the car on my way to work.

4) I also like to work out to the music listed in #3, above.

5) I was a natural blonde until the age of 13, and have dyed my hair blonde ever since then, up until 2 months ago when I went brunette. Culture shock!

6) I had Lasik surgery.

7) I am a tooth fenatic and have worn braces not once, but twice. I whiten my teeth about every two weeks and the dentist has actually told me my teeth are "unnaturally" white and I should stop whitening them so much. Oh well.

8) I have never been overweight or had an eating disorder, but I am secretly terrified of becoming overweight. As a result, I am a bit obsessive about my diet and exercise program.

9) My boyfriend is 14 years older than me (I am 33).

10) I recently moved from Detroit, MI to Greensboro, NC for a new job.

Okay, here goes....

- Have only ever been with one man my entire life. Have been with him for 17 years, married for 10 this September.

- I have to check my daughters bedroom windows before going to sleep to make sure they are locked even though I know they are. Even if I get into bed and start dozing off, I get up and check them. OCD, like may of us!!!

- Lost our first child when I was 5 mos pregnant and even though my husband and I agreed that we didn't want to know the sex, I found out without him knowing. I just had to know to find peace.

- Have been making the same wish on the first star I see every night for as long as I can remember. So far, so good!

- When I'm working out, I pretend I am teaching a class. Sometimes I talk outloud by accident and my daughter wonders who I am talking too!! Strange I know, but it keeps me from calling it quits on an especially hard workout!

Not too exciting, but truthful! No one knows these things about me.

Have a great day!

Melissa ;-)

I thought of one more thing; I will not answer my door unless I am expecting company. I think its rude when people stop by unexpectedly or uninvited. If I hear someone at the door I will go to a place where I can see out without being seen and I will only answer if it's a delivery. Also, I don't want to deal with solicitors trying to sell me things or religious types trying to buy my soul. I used to think this was peculiar behavior until I fessed up to a couple of my neighbors, only to learn that they do the same thing--lol!

Cool thread!

* The older I get, the more I dislike shopping.
* I have a paper addiction.
* Before I go to sleep, I have to see what's on CourtTV and A&E.
* I think Alton Brown is cute. He's nerdy, funny, sarcastic and knows his way around the kitchen. My kind of guy.
* I can't cook to save my life. ;(
* I have to do something creative every day or else I'd go nuts.
* I'd like to write a memoir one day, too -- Standing on Razor's Edge. I do like Robin's title better, but I've never had Sex in Danish Ruins. Okay, that'st TMI. :p :+
* Michele, I have the same beef with solicitors, especially religious types. Oy.
* I'm OCD, too. Omnivorous, crazy and deadly. :+

I can touch the tip of my tongue to the tip of my nose.

I am not shy now but was so shy as a child and a teen that I could barely interact with anyone outside my family.

I wash my hands endlessly, after posting or touching the computer, the phone, a door knob and over and over when cooking.

My ribcage is so large it is freakish an I have no breasts. Bummer.

I am extraordinarily disorganized but obsessed with organization.

I straighten rows of candy when checking out at the store, most of the time.

I have suffered from anorexia intermittantly since I was 17.

I suffer from manic depression.

I live for my children and am grateful for that love because it has made me very careful to seek treatment when it was needed.

My children are well and do not show signs of any of my "issues". And they are growing up nicely. :)

I am very happy right now. ;)

I am just popping in here again to say OMG!! Pinky!! I LOVE your new avatar and you look fantastic and amazing!! I know, it's a lot of !!! but really, you look awesome!! You are one HOT mamma!!

Waaaahhhh, I can't see Pinky's new Avatar here at work. I am amazed at everyone's, dare I say it, weird quirks. And I thought I had issues! But I love all of ya. I'll just remember to call first if I ever drop by at Michele or Pinky's. And MarlsyMom, I'm so glad you have nearly as many loves as hates. Otherwise the earth's orbit would be skewed and we would all be thrown into outerspace. This thread is so enlightening.

This is fun. Here goes:

I am an identical twin. When we are together, people constantly stop us and ask if we are twins. Sometimes we tell them that we aren't twins, just sisters. Someone once thought my twin was my mother!!

I twice accepted rides from complete strangers, both were men and nothing happened. I consider myself very lucky.

I hate the word tunic and will not wear anything described as such.

I hate sales and shopping at outlet malls.

I talk to myself when I'm alone in the car.

I was in a deep depression when I was a teen but credit the music of the Bee Gees for saving me.

My grandfather owned a tavern in Chicago, which became a speakeasy during prohibition. He was held-up, put in jail and was constantly hounded by the mob.

Good morning all,

Here it goes;

Cleaning is not one of my favorite things to do. Although I have a clean house it's just not spick and span. Maybe even a little dusty in areas. I have better things to do.

Can not sleep before 12 at night, and need to wake up at 8am.

Worked at The Boeing Co. for 13 years. Three times I've had to create a job for myself and three times it was taken from me by people that was higher up on the ladder than me.

When I eat sweets, it is usually chocolate, but I eat so much of it, can't seem to quit, until I almost get sick. Sometimes at night when trying to sleep, the indigestion is awful. But I do it again anyway when that urge happens. Not a healthy thing to do. Certainly not good for my figure per se. It is a problem.

Janie

Here goes,

I work full time and play full time and yet my house is so clean you could literally eat off the floors.

I love speed. My first job was riding race horses. Now one of my favorite extra-curricular activities is driving race cars.

I bond with men very easily. My husband is first and foremost my best friend. Women are much more of a challenge to me. I think it is because of my interests.

Which leads to - I don't like to cook, sew, gab on the phone or go shopping. These things are like torture to me.

My other extra-curricular activity is shooting guns. All types. I become the center of attention at every gun range I have gone to. My nickname by those "in the know" of this skill is "Annie Oakley"!!

Fun thread...

Here goes:

* I LIKE getting older (Who said that?). I like knowing that personality is what matters most and what you give you get back tenfold. I'm a much more relaxed person now.

* I'm an avid reader and will read anything.

* I'm a closet romantic.

* I am almost to the point where my weight is not as big of a factor - as long as I'm in shape and can do what I want. I love food too much to ever be thin.
