I think Cathe has ruined me...

About a month ago, I started working out with Cathe on a regular basis. The new Collage Video catalog came in the mail yesterday. As I have been looking thru it, I have found myself looking at all the vids and all the instructors and turning up my nose! Like I am some kind of workout snob!! That seems so bad. The only instructors I can tolerate now are Cathe and Christie Taylor, maybe Mindy Mylera. Will this snobbery last forever? Am I the only one who feels like that so many other instructors pale in comparsion to Cathe??

I think they are some other great instructors, too. However, I do find that Cathe's tapes fit the bill for me better than any other tapes. I like her style, energy level, and level of fitness with her tapes. I like splitting my cardio and weights and find I have a lot of options/variety with her tapes, too. I rarely do anything else now altho I haven't thrown the others away yet.

No,I don't think you are alone. My first workout video (when I ventured back into fitness) was Keli Roberts.I can't beleive that I did the same workout EVERYDAY! Then I played with a couple other videos I found at wal-mart,and eventually I started running again.
One day, while reading my fitness mag,I came across video ratings and thats when I found Body Max.I ordered it shortly after and I have been in love with Cathe every since.
I have bought a few other workouts while I have been waiting for Cathe to release new workouts. And I am sad to say,I have wasted alot of money.I do enjoy Mindy at times, when I am in the mood for her energy,I have done a couple of Kathy Smith quick workouts, and Powerstrike.Powerstrike is a awesome workout but I am not a kickboxing fan.
I only order Cathe workouts at the moment b/c unless something as the same intensity, I feel like it is a waste of time to do.I like to have a good workout everytime.
I don't think our problem is a bad one....:)

I'm kind of a Cathe snob too - LOL!! I'm using Tracie Long's new workouts and I really like the workouts and the instructors, but they're the only other ones. I've tried others in the past year plus since I first discovered Cathe, but I just can't into anyone else. I think it does last forever ... LOL!!

Same here. Cathe has ruined me for all other instructors! :) I do like to try a variety of workouts, but I always come back to Cathe as my mainstay.

I think I am a Cathe snob as well. I have only recently started doing her workouts but presently I cannot see doing any other work outs! I feel that I need her intensity, results, variety and am afraid that I will not get that from others. I like that her tapes are made for advanced users. I hated it when I was working out with others and had to listen to instruction over and over again everytime you do a work out. I just want to get it done!}( }(

I prefer to think that Cathe has made me a more loyal and focussed person when it comes to exercise (i.e. I'm a Cathe snob too!). I think it's a good thing. I no longer collect tons and tons of exercise videos, only to trade them later for more videos that I probably won't use. I just stick with my Cathe workouts (and maybe a few that I still like from one or two other instructors).

I don't even bother looking at the Collage catalog anymore. If it isn't Cathe or Christi then I won't buy it. The complexity and intensity between the two instructors are the perfect mix for me. I have done the CIA's and Mindy(which I use occasionally) and ended up selling most of them. I feel as though noone else provides me with such excellent workouts. Besides the fact that the cueing is right on with both instructors!!

I'm a Cathe snob, or what I prefer to call a Cathe Monogamist, myself. Funny that you should mention the Collage Video catalog; I got mine in the mail last night too, and it almost put me to sleep.

Cathe's combination of effective, high-intensity workout programs, pioneering use of DVD technology, and matchless on-camera personae is unparalleled. I'm very careful with my money, which is why I'll never buy from anyone else but her again for workout DVD's. And I'll always buy the whole taco on the first day of presale.

Ditto here--I can't even get an effective step aerobics workout in the gym anymore. They're all total sissies compared to Cathe.

I'm a total Cathe snob. I got my catalog yesterday too. I didnt even look through it. I'm so excited about the new series coming.

Yup, Cathe and Christi is about it for me too! I will look through the collage video catalog, but I never find anything that I'm interested in.

Just another self-proclaimed snob here!! I have told one (all but only one listens) of my friends about Cathe's videos and one day I was talking about KPC w/my friend Kimmy. A week later I saw her out and she was like...."Oh Ashley!! I bought that Kathy Smith kickboxing video and I absolutely love it!!" I GASPED in horror:eek:    !!! I told her right then and there that I was a fan of the one and only Cathe Friedrich-----AND NO OTHER!! I haven't spoked to her since. (Just joking:D )

I pretty well stick to Cathe for my home workouts. Although, once in a while I do Gin Miller's "Intense Moves" -- love that woman, great voice, "approachable" body-type, upbeat but not too perky. I tried a Mindy tape, but found her too chatty & perky, plus it took up too much workout space.

Why stray? Cathe covers just about everything I need to do to stay fit!

Your post made me smile. Glad to know *I* am not the only one. I hear a lot about P90x and am very interested, but between that and Cathe's upcoming series, I choose Cathe. I used Billy Blanks while I was recovering from knee issues in the spring and although I came to like him and his low-impact workouts a lot, I've been reaching for Cathe's kickboxing workouts since I recovered. I have Christie Taylor DVDs. I've viewed them but haven't used them yet. I believe that there many wonderful instructors out there, and I use their workouts when I, for some reason, CAN'T use Cathe. But when my body can take it, Cathe is it. I love her teaching style. She gives lot of tips, plenty of encouragement (she always says "Yes, you can!" at the right time), and she works as hard as we do.:)

Cathe's just the best....nothing compares.

I like Powerstrike 1, and Billy Blanks advanced stuff for Kickboxing...but they are only to add more variety to my KB workouts.

Can't wait for Cathe's new KB workout.

If this makes me a Cathe snob...so be it:+

Cathe snob here. Funny, I did the same thing with my Collage catalogue. Flipped thru once and threw it in the recycling...can't wait for Hardcore!!!

I work out exclusively with Cathe, and own everything she's put out since Step Heat, etc. I stick with Cathe because she does such a professional job of making her workouts complement each other. She has plenty of variety, and makes her workouts so flexible, particularly in her recent series (CTX, IS, BB). I love being able to so easily put together segments from different workouts, allowing me to tailor my workouts to my specific needs.

Cheers,
Sandra

I have been a faithful FIRMie since Jan 2003, but I read so many posting on the FIRM boards about Cathe that my curiousity was piqued. I had ordered P90X, then read about Cathe's HardCore series, so I decided to pre-order since her series sounded a lot like P90X. My husband was sitting with me at the computer when I went to pre-order Hardcore, and he said, "why not get all of Cathe's DVDs?" So I ordered the 44-pack, even though I had never done any of Cathe's videos.

I started with Basic Step and Body Fusion, did Step Heat, then started the Timesaver series. I love them all! Her step routines are so much fun and I enjoy her weight work. I just don't feel like pulling out any of my FIRMs right now!
