How the heck...?4DS Bis and Tris

I need a tip for how to get my feet up on the ball to do tricep dips. I struggled so much, the I think I got a workout just trying to get up there - haha!:p

I already tried flipping my riser over so the wide part was up, rather than the way is was demonstrated in the workout (the ball kept rolling away from me that way).

How did you measure the distance between your high step and the ball to get it correct and comfy? Did you have trouble getting one foot up on top of the ball at a time? How did you manage?

Thanks for any advice/feedback!

Sue,

I can't do this move either. I tried it with one leg up on the ball, one leg on the floor. That's my suggestion. But I'm sure you will get much better ones.

I don't care for dips I feel it in my wrists. I can never get my hands comfy to enjoy the move. But I keep trying. I guess one is better than none.

Hope you get some good suggestions to help you with this move.

I just put the ball approximately the lenght of my legs away. That part wasn't an issue at all. However, I could only do about 4 or 5 of the suckers - they are hard! And I did notice it more in my wrists - likely because you are supporting more weight. I just did what I could, then took my feet off the ball and did a few regular dips - then watched Cathe do the rest! haha

I am still just intermediate level and I couldn't do them at all. I just ended up cracking up at how silly I looked attempting them. Then I did some regular dips instead.

Oh, it *was* so funny how I kept rolling all over the place - haha! I'm so glad no one was watching! :p

Maybe it's just another one of those moves where the risks outweigh the benefits?

I'm glad I'm not the only one. It took me about 3 minutes to get in place and then I did about 2 fell off!! I'll probably just do regular ones off the step from now on.

I used the purple section of the fanny lifter (Firm)to hold the ball and did the dips from my sofa, which is higher up than the high step.

I had trouble with the ball rolling, too, until I took it OFF the riser it was on (like Cathe and crew have) and did it without the riser to hold the ball in place. Kind of counter-intuitive but it worked for me! :)

I didn't have a riser to put it on b/c I own a Reebok step. Anyway, I set the ball against a wall and put a dumbell in front of the ball. Once I got my feet up and balanced it wasn't too bad. I had the remote so I could hit play once I got the length between step and ball figured out.

That's a great tip - thanks! How many times did you have to try before you got the distance right?

Thanks,
Susan L.G.

You also could try not using the riser, and putting four dumbells around the ball. That way, you can adjust how stable/unstable the ball is by how far away the dumbells are (someone here--or at VF?--once posted about doing that in some other workout and it sounds like it might help with this move).

Hmmm...I don't really know...it didn't seem to take that long but I did pause the player. The distance may not have been perfect but when I felt "comfortable" and stable enough to hit play, I just went for it! I looked at Cathe's feet/leg to see what parts were touching the ball. I also don't see why you couldn't maybe kind of keep your needs bent with your toes or forefoot just resting on the ball until you get used to it. That works in my mind but it may be complete folley if one actually tries it!
