Horizontal Conditioning Bootcamp.....Wowzers!

Just let me say this workout is not for the faint of heart. I have to say this is one of the hardest workouts I have EVER done! Has anybody else had experience with these workouts? Whew......TOUGH!!!!!

I just tried this the other day, and can't say I like it too much. To copy/paste my FB rant.....

Horizontal Bootcamp - first person to message me with $10 can have it. The good news is it cured the headache, probably because I was so damn bored the headache couldn't take it anymore. Gah!!! Every time we hit the floor, it felt like we were doing the same thing. Production values sucked. Bad editing, very choppy in between camera angle changes, unless I got a bad DVD. Instructor can't count,, 4 more means 4 more, not 8 or 16 more. Instructor doesn't know right from left, she cues her right instead of my right, except for the girl in the back right who was actually on the correct side. Nasty gray dishrags for gliders (ok, she said they were felt, but they looked like nasty gray dishrags). Plastic corner protectors on the back wall of the set where the wall stuck out a little bit??? And black baseboard paint bleeding into the red wall paint. Oh, and they had on baseball caps. Women in baseball caps bother me. Made it the 1st 40 minutes and quit due to boredom. As far as effectiveness, I suppose it would be if you don't keel over from boredom. And......there's voices talking with no lips moving!!! Especially noticeable during the jumping lunges with the side camera angle.

I'll give it another whirl, there are some workouts I've not liked the first go-around, that have been ok on the second attempt. And I was kind of cranky that day, not feeling 100% But after all the woo-hooing about the workout, I don't think it lived up to the hype. Easy? No. Worth $20? Not so sure about that.

I love HC! I've been doing it 2x/week for over 2 months and i've never seen so much definition in my arms! I have all her 101's and I'm a subscriber to her Hardcore workouts so I get a new one each month. I was burning out from weights so this was a nice change for me. I'm sure eventually I will burn out of these and go back to weights but these workouts are tough and a great challenge!

I love HC too!!! The Bootcamp workout is my current "Mount Everest". I have to pause the dvd many times to make it through and catch my breath! I will conquer that sucker before the end of the year...that is my goal! lol

I do agree the production values are not up to Cathe standards. I think this is because Sandra is just getting up and running with producing videos. She originally didn't make her videos for sale to the public. She started by selling her workout ideas to other trainers and workout instructors (she created Horizontal Conditioning). I think now that she realizes there is a market for her tough workouts she'll make more dvds and her production will get more polished with time.

Didn't get sucked into this one, yet, but it could happen...nice cokonkel, when describing it that way "Mount Everest" ha, everybody loves a challenge. they look like complete plank-fest, not bad but all planking could spell boredom, not if it really works on your core & arms, though, that would be worth it.

i just glanced at a few of these on youtube, there is something I don't like about them, and the hats. I think that's why i nixed these when they first got so much discussion at VF, yeah, it may be a good workout, but, there's definitely something there I don't like, at all.

When I took a look at these video clips what struck me is the high incidence of repetition and sameness between DVDs in the series. One would be all you'd need.

I must say, they are all similar but yet completely different. I can't really explain that any other way

You would think that would be the case but when you do the workouts they aren't. She does tweaks and variations on different exercises that hit totally different areas of emphasis or manages to make what your doing much more difficult. I'm constantly amazed at the creativity of her moves. Her gliding work is like Cathe's on steroids! lol

Can someone help me understand what horizontal training is?

Not to be a total enabler but here ya go! :p
Total Fitness DVDs - Your Total Source for Fitness
At total fitness, you can use the coupon 10off to get a 10% discount or you can go on Sandra's site and get the same discount with VFROCKS.
Horizontal Conditioning : Home
You can also get her club workouts on her site which are basically just her taping her in her classes or by herself. The production and sound aren't as good on those but she has so many unique moves and the workouts are so incredibly effective I don't mind.

The 101's are great! They use only one prop per workout (weights, step, or ball) and are 30 minutes in length. There is no warm-up/cool-down. She jumps right in and they pack a punch.

Enablers!

I just ordered Volume 2,3 and 4. Not that I think I can handle them but they do look different ... and it does not look like we will be looking up at the screen much to care about the hats. I am just wondering what I'm going to do with all these new workouts! It's like I'm squirreling them away because I anticipate weight gain over December!:p

I discovered Horizontal Conditioning on this site. Thank you to all who have given your advice! I am addicted to them! They are really tough! I started with her 3 beginner dvds and thought they were hard. I have volumes 1-4 and bootcamp, and now the 101's. The production value is no where near Cathe, but I find I barely look at the screen. My heart is beating and I am sweating like crazy. They are a nice change of pace. My core is so much stronger. If you don't like planks and push ups these would not be for you, but I have found is that most of the things I hate to do is what my body needs me to do.

I got HC getting stronger and vol 1
So far im not sure if I like it yet since I have only done one workout. I did getting stronger... Very hard for me. I am weak what can I say? Lol I will say my ribs are sore even my inner thighs my back. Ouch. But I like getting sore as long as it isnt my joints ..anh yea buddy ..im sore.
Im going to do the same workout this week for second time. Then see how I like it then.

I found my best results with HC is when I do them consistently twice a week. After about a month of that, my core was more "drawn in", flatter and incredibly strong. These moves work the abs (especially obliques), lower back, arms, shoulders and butt/legs extremely well. When I tried to increase my HC's to 3 times a week though, I found it was pretty tough on my shoulders, especially considering a lot of my other workouts also incorporate plank and push up work. I had to take a break for about 3 weeks and let me tell you, other ab work is just not the same! I was so glad to be able to get back to HC and my core strength quickly bounced right back. :) I can't wait until Sandra films some more volumes and/or bootcamp! :D
