Help me get my motivation back!

I seem to be struggling to get my motivation back to pick up the weights consistently.

I cycle about 75-100 miles a week as I commute off road to work so I'm not too bad on cardio but I just can't seem to get up to enthusiasm for hitting the poundage.

I'm working very hard at the moment plus redecorating the house following serious remodelling so I've been tired and off form for a while now. I can only manage one to two w/outs in a week if I'm lucky so it's really very VERY intermittent.

Maybe it's the long dark evenings. Anyone else feel the same or am I just lazy?

What Cathe DVD's have you used in the past to get you back into the swing of things if you've lapsed???

Claire

Hi Claire, I found I had to push myself more then normal when the time changed. But now that we are in almost full swing winter, I've found my rhythm and am not having trouble staying motivated. Why don't you try doing the Pyramids or ME? You could just do one of these twice a week. I think these are great because Cathe seems to be having a lot of fun in these workouts and I think that's very motivating. Or another option, would be to get back into CTX where you can just do one body part a day (we're talking 10 minutes here except for Leaner Legs) - sometimes a little goes a long way, so maybe that would help you get motivated.

Thanks Jo

They're great suggestions. I know I'll enjoy it when I get going but it's just that first push I need.

Weird how you forget what you have - I always tend to gravitate towards S&H and PS as I'm a heavy weights girl but they just don't rock my boat at the moment. Your recommendations sound just what I need.

Cheers

What really helps to motivate me is if I log on to Cathe's website right as I am deciding whether I feel like working out. I look at a couple pics and read a couple threads, then it motivates me. But then I tell myself that I can do any workout I want and any length of time. Even if I just do 20 minutes, it is better than nothing. So I usually choose a premix on her dvd or use the Workout Blender. At first I wasn't taking advantage of the workout blender, but what a great feature - you can make you workout as short or long as you want.

I was going to recommend Pyramid Upper Body, too.

I just did that one today...I've kind of made it a staple in my first Cathe fitness program rotation (I'm a "newbie" here). I thought about doing Muscle Endurance or Supersets, but I find that PUB is just perfect for me as I'm just starting out.

I also find the website really motivating for me. I check in and get all pumped and look forward to my next workout.

Thank you all for your suggestions everyone.

I think your ideas about picking the "fun" ones will be the key.

Cheers

Power Hour! It's fast, it's fun and the music is great! If you just do a song or two per day, it takes very little time. I simply don't know of a more motivating Cathe strength workout. Try it and you won't regret it.

Why don't you copy some of the hardcore pictures?.I have the desk box of my computer full with cathe's pictures. They motivates me.Since I discovered Cathe I don't have problems of motivation. My problem is the clean eatin. My favorites are ME, Bootcamp , IMAX 2 and the terminator. If you try any of them you are going to enjoy.Have a great sunday.

I ams also going to suggest what two other posters suggessted. The Pyramid workouts. These are so flexible . You can work just one or two body parts a day ...excellent for someone with little motivation to do a weight workout. You can also choose the pyramid up or down only option. Surely anyone can do something for only a few minutes a day... and that is why I recommend these workouts. If nothing else they will prevent you from losing the muscle you already have.

It sounds like you have plenty of good input, so this is probably unneeded. But, as one who always has trouble with the weights part of working out (esp. upper body), I suggest you start even easier -- Supersets is always motivating for me. I love Bootcamp too, which, weights wise (not all around, of course!), is also on the easier side I think, since the exercizes are so short.

Thank you everyone for your fab suggestions.

I think they are all great - looks like I have no excuses and will have to get my butt in gear!!

All the best.
