Last night while at youth soccer game we ran into the family who bought our best male choc lab puppy. I have been wondering how he has been doing since they are the only ones who live in town that bought one of our puppies.
He started off by saying "you may not want to hear this" I looked at him & could tell it wasn't a happy ending story so I went to the truck & he told my DH who later told me. Now I wish I had stayed in the dark - I like it better there sometimes.
Basically here' s what happened. According to the owner the puppy was left inside one day while they were at work. They came home & no puppy. They looked inside & out & could not find him. They called the dog warden & somehow he had him saying he picked him out of their yard. No tags - licencse or rabies. Mind you at the time the puppy was not old enough for either!! They went to a kennel in the next town over & picked him up. They said something was not right with him. Large knot on his head & he wasn't right. They took him to the vet (the bestone in our area) & he was there all day getting checked. If you don't like sad stories STOP now!! This poor puppy had a dislocated leg, his lungs were filled with blood & his neck was broken. When DH told me this I started bawling. They obviously had to put him down. They are filing a law-suit against the town & the kennel. They have 3 kids who were heartbroken! He said that was the best dog, he foloowed him around, always listened & came when he was called.
I told my husband I am so glad we got Maggie fixed. For reasons like that I will never breed again.
I feel terrible for those poor kids.
Thanks for listening gals!!
Forgive any typos - I can't reread this to check.
