Heartbreaking story

MAYNARDSMOM

Cathlete
Last night while at youth soccer game we ran into the family who bought our best male choc lab puppy. I have been wondering how he has been doing since they are the only ones who live in town that bought one of our puppies.
He started off by saying "you may not want to hear this" I looked at him & could tell it wasn't a happy ending story so I went to the truck & he told my DH who later told me. Now I wish I had stayed in the dark - I like it better there sometimes.

Basically here' s what happened. According to the owner the puppy was left inside one day while they were at work. They came home & no puppy. They looked inside & out & could not find him. They called the dog warden & somehow he had him saying he picked him out of their yard. No tags - licencse or rabies. Mind you at the time the puppy was not old enough for either!! They went to a kennel in the next town over & picked him up. They said something was not right with him. Large knot on his head & he wasn't right. They took him to the vet (the bestone in our area) & he was there all day getting checked. If you don't like sad stories STOP now!! This poor puppy had a dislocated leg, his lungs were filled with blood & his neck was broken. When DH told me this I started bawling. They obviously had to put him down. They are filing a law-suit against the town & the kennel. They have 3 kids who were heartbroken! He said that was the best dog, he foloowed him around, always listened & came when he was called.
I told my husband I am so glad we got Maggie fixed. For reasons like that I will never breed again.
I feel terrible for those poor kids.
Thanks for listening gals!! :(
Forgive any typos - I can't reread this to check.

Darn it - I didn't want to read this, now I'm crying! I've been following your puppy threads though so I wanted to read it. I'm so sorry to you and the family. Who the hell would treat an animal like that, especially a little puppy??? Oh, oh, oh - the world is sometimes not a very nice place. Poor baby - he is in a better place now. Just tell yourself that. I think God keeps a special place for animals, especially those who had a rough life here...and I also think there is a special place in hell for people who mistreat those animals. Prayers, hugs, and peace for you and that family.

OMG, I hope that the people (person) who did this gets the death sentence. Or have someone do the same thing to them! It blows my mind that anyone can treat an animal (or another human being) in such a disgusting way. I would personally go down to that kennel and give them a MAJOR piece of my mind!!! BTW, my fiance was trained in explosives in the army, we could blow up their car if you want, lol!

I'm so sorry Tami!!! This is the kind of thing that just makes you ill! I had something similar (no abuse, just a bad outcome for an animal I had placed) happen recently and it just makes you sick at your stomach. (((HUGS)))

Thanks for the offer but we'll pass this time. I will keep that in mind.

I also keep telling myself he is in a better place & try not to dwell on the bad. It is so hard. I know it's ahrder for those kids who had made him their's.

I just don't understand harming a creature who only wants to give give give. What must be missing in the brain of such an inhuman human being...

i am so sorry to hear about this puppy.... karma will find the person(s) that did this and deal with it in a way that is appropriate....believing in that is how i get through this sort of thing....he is now running and playing with all of the other dogs that have gone on before him, and he doesn't remember the bad things that happened...

(((HUGS)))

Poor little puppy :( :( :( :( :(

That's all I can think to say. I HATE THAT happened to him. It's just not right.
