Hardcore Fitness Maniacs November 2024

This morning I did STS 2.0 Lower Body 1 and had an excellent workout. I haven't done this one since early August.

This is how it went - 1 minute rest between each exercise

Squats: 20's - 2 sets/10 reps
Front Squats: 30# - 2 sets/10 reps (those were tough on my shoulder)
Barbell Deadlifts: 40# - 3 sets/10 reps
Dumbbell Reverse Lunges: 15's - 8 reps
R/L Reverse Lunges: 15's - 8 reps each side
R/L Static Lunges: 15's - 8 reps each side
Close Grip Sumo Squats: 30# - 10 reps
1.5 Close Grip Sumo Squats: 35# - 2 sets/6 reps
R/L Side Lunges: 15# - 2 sets/8 reps
R/L Static Side Lunges: 15# - 8 reps
Barbell Hip Thrusts: 30# - 3 sets/12-10-8 reps (really felt these!)
Barbell Calf Raises: 40# - 20 reps
Elevated Barbell Calf Raises: 40# - 2 sets/12 reps
Barbell Calf Raises: 40# - 15 reps
Stability Ball Hamstring Roll Ins - Skipped
Stability Ball Quad Raises: Skipped

I had to skip the last two exercises due to time. Workout was 47 minutes, burned 257 calories, HR 116/150.

Belinda - You should try some of Wil Yeung's recipes, they are good and easy. I love to watch him cook, it is so fun to watch. He cuts vegetables like nothing. Wish I could do that. Nice job with your workout!

Roxie - So sorry to hear about your right eye. Do you have macula degeneration? I hope they can do something to slow down the vision loss. Nice job on the treadmill walk!

Diane - I also cut my own veggies, frozen just isn't the same to me. They usually end up being all mushy after they are cooked and I don't like that at all. I know what you mean when you say your fingers lock up, mine do that from time to time as well. It scares me and I hate the feeling. I get a lot muscle cramping in my hands too. Aging sucks!! Nice workout yesterday!

It's cold and windy here today, in the 30's with 55 mph winds. Yikes!! The weather is certainly changing now. Boo!!!

Good morning,

JS Walk Strong: Build and Balance + Inner Strength DVD: Core Control = 30 min + SBF Lower Barre Circuit = 28 min is done.Getting tired of doing my PT exercises.

Diane - great job with Step # 413 + Raw Glute Finisher and CDorner stretching. Thank you…I hope the weather is good too when we pick up the RV.

Debbie - since you like his cooking I will give it a try soon. LOL, wished I could cut veggies like him too. He makes it look so easy. Great job on STS 2 Lower Body today.

Roxie - sorry you having eye problems. Great job on your TM workout.

Waving Hi to every that checks in after me.

Yesterday I forgot to check in, I had an early appointment and I ran out the door without posting. Yesterday I took the pups for a 3.5 mile walk through the hills, pushing a baby jogger with my senior dog in it was a workout!!! I must be pushing at least 30#s up the hills that way, my hamstrings are feeling it today. Today's workout was CL #351 Intense Upper Body and I had such a great workout. I like this one a lot and you can either go heavier weights with less reps or go with Cathe and do lighter weights and more reps. Today I did heavier weights and it felt great. This workout you do each body part by itself, and you repeat the round 2 times.

Debbie, great job on the STS leg workout, wow you are strong in the legs. I cannot do a whole workout for just legs anymore; my knees would be destroyed. I am moving my Max Trainer into the house this weekend so I will start using that to get my legs in shape for ski season. I am also using my rowing machine and if I use the highest resistance, wow, what a leg workout. The recipes sound delicious!

Diane Sue, so sorry that you still have that pain in your rib area. Have they done an ultrasound to see what is causing it. I am sure you have mentioned it in the past, but I do not recall. Great job on getting in your workouts even though you are dealing with these issues. I like lite weight workouts, there is no dread factor for me :)

Roxie, sorry to hear about your eye. Way to go on the TM workout!

Deanna, welcome to the group of some old ladies with a bunch of re occurring injuries and health issues LOL! Not really, we have all been lifting heavy weights for a long time and no some of us are feeling it as we are getting older. I have been in this group for well over 15 years!!! Great job with the workouts.

Roselyn, nice workout.

I hope you all have a great day. We have sun the next few days and then it is getting cloudy. :( It should be 72 degrees today so I am laying in the sun for a bit and reading a good book.

This morning I just walked on my treadmill because I just didn't have it in me to do an intense cardio workout. My legs are so sore I can hardly get off my chair!! So I thought best to just walk.

Workout was 41 minutes, burned 354 calories, went 2 miles, did 4737 steps and HR was 143/167.

Belinda - I know what you mean about getting sick of PT exercises. OMG, you can only do them so much and then it's like I'M DONE!! That's how I felt with my back PT exercises. They do help, though. Great job with your Walk Strong workout.

Jolie - Great job with your workouts! My knees haven't hurt is some time, which I'm glad. There are times they are sort of tweaky, but not too often anymore. I'm having more issues with my IT band than anything else. My left side literally hurts. I've been stretching it and rolling it and it gets better for a while but then it gets tight again. It's very uncomfortable. I should get on my Max Trainer, too. One of these days!!

Roselyn - Nice workout!

Roxie - Nice job with your walk. Is there anything they can do about your eye issue? When you think of the name, let me know. I'm just curious.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Good morning,

JS TB Super Circuits is done. I also did SBF Dynamic stretch.

I talked to my doctor yesterday about my shoulder/ biceps. He thinks I may have a small tear in my rotator cuff. No matter how much PT I do, it just doesn‘t seem to get any better. He wants me to get another xray done. I can‘t lift my arm up. I can‘t lift a 1# DB on my left arm. I need to figure out what is going on with my left shoulder/biceps. This is getting old.

Diane - how are you doing?

Debbie - i am glad I am not the only one getting sick of PT exercises. They do help. I started doing JS workouts, she incorporates a lot of body weight exercises like I did with the PT. She does a good amount for shoulder mobility. Great job on your TM workout. You worked those legs good. Stretch them out good.

Roxie - what is your doctor doing about your vision? Poor thing. What is the condition called?

Roselyn - nice job on your HiiT workout.

Jolie - great job with your weight workouts. Did you sign up for CL?

I will be back tomorrow. Have a great Friday and workout.

Good Evening,

I walked on the treadmill again 2.45 miles.

Belinda & Debbie-she didn’t really say there was anything they could do but I don’t think there is. I wish I could remember what it is I know it started with a C.

Yesterday I did CDorner Basic Step #432 increasing some of the intensity myself as it was really basic and a bit slow, 180 calories, 3,205. I also did STS 2 Mobility 1, 20 minutes, 27 calories. I also did the back pod and exercises with light tubing and neck strengthening.
Today I did CDorner Cardio Barre 35 minutes, 164 calories, heart rate 123/152, 1877 steps used 2 and 3# dumbbells during second half. I some weights on my own with 10# dumbbells 3 sets 12 reps each move, biceps curls front, hammer 3 times, triceps kickbacks 2 sets single kickback, 2 sets double arm kickbacks and band work squeezing between shoulders 3 sets. Back pod and finished with STS 2 total body stretch 24 minutes, 29 calories. Total time today 76 minutes excluding back pod work, 252 calories.

Jolie, that walk pushing one dog up the hills and walking the other would be a lot of work. Good job on yesterday CL #351 Intense Upper Body. I went to my primary doctor because the pain was so bad. She checked everything sent me for x rays and said it is costochondritis, which is what I thought from researching, but did not say as I wanted to see what she came up with. Arthritis did not do anything, but suggest it was maybe from the arthritis and the pleura around the lungs being inflamed. I did not think that was it as I have had it happen off and on for several years. Usually I get rid of it. This time it is a battle. The arthritis doctor gave me a steroid injection, but it has not helped with this. My doctor gave me meloxicam to keep me from using too much ibuprofen. I was only using it at night though to try and get some sleep. I have read everything that I can read. It can be caused from the Rheumatoid arthritis. I bought the back pod that many have got results from. Read PT stuff. Hopefully I get it under control soon. It hurts to lie down flat at night. Ribs wrap around into the back and most suggestions are to loosen adhesions in the back hinge and stretch the front.

Roselyn, nice work on the HIIT workout.

Roxie, good job on the treadmill walk.

Debbie, I am sure your legs needed a break today after yesterday's STS 2 legs 1.

Belinda, nice work on Jessica Smith Super Circuits and SBF Dynamic Stretch today. That is the way I was several years ago when they did the first shoulder mri and did not see the tear, but the pain was bad. They sent me to PT and that was painful. It bothered me so bad that they finally did that last mri and I had a complete tear. When I researched, some smaller tears can heal with the right care. I hope they can help you with this. I have some problems in my left shoulder now and keep hoping it is not going to be another bone spur cutting into my shoulder on the left this time. I do not get why my arthritis dr did not do x rays. He just went straight to an mri. Maybe to wanting to use their lousy mri machine. The orthopedic surgeon did x rays and you could see the tear.

I get bored with PT exercises too. I sure worked extra hard on them after the surgery. If I had not used a good physical therapist, I doubt I would have my range of motion back as well as it is. Still can put my hand behind me mid back do arm circles etc. He pushed hard to get the arm to move and would hold it there for a time, even though I was fighting tears. Anyway, it worked, it was just a real long process and I still stop and do some of those exercises often during the day.

roxie do you take eye vitamins? i take presavision because my mom has macular my eye doc said its the best thing to do for your eyes and it has been proven to hep eye health

Today i did legs/shoulders mishmosh

Hi,

Today I walked outside and did a nice stretch afterwards. We dropped off DS at the airport this morning.

Diane - nice job on Chris Basic Step #432 + STS 2 Mobility + back pod and exercises with light tubing and neck strengthening. Plus CDorner Cardio Barre 35 minutes. You did a lot of workouts. I have constant pain in my left shoulder/biceps, even if I don‘t do anything. Sorry the steroid injection didn‘t help. I hope you get it under control soon. Once I get another xray, I should know more. It‘s getting old. Although I do enjoy JS workouts, eventually i would like to get back into Cathe‘s workout. Right now I am better off doing JS workouts, she does a lot of body weight/DB‘s workouts. I do like them. Some of the exercises remind me of my PT exercises to strengthen my quad/knees.

Good job everyone on your workouts

I did the door frame stretch but, did not do the back squeezes since I worked upper back in the workout above. I skipped and altered whatever I was feeling in my ribs.

Roselyn, nice work on STS mish mosh legs and shoulders..

Belinda, good job getting in a nice walk and stretch today. I understand on wanting to be able to do the workouts that you love, but have to avoid them. I am trying to move a little light weight back in. I feel like I have been avoiding things that could hurt for what feels like a very long time. I decided I would try a little upper strength work. I just want the pain to all stop.

Hi,

I went for a long walk earlier. The weather wasn‘t to bad.

Diane - great job on your arms and butt workout. I know if I do a Cathe workout, I pick up heavy weights. I hear you on wanting the pain to stop.

Great job everyone.

Roxie - I just looked that eye disease up. Wow, 1 in 10,000 get it and both parents have to have the disease in their genetics. Does this run in your family? I'm sorry to hear this but since it hit at a later age, it says it means it's not that aggressive. Maybe look into so vision supplements like Roselyn said, that should slow it down.

Great job on your workouts everyone!! Hope you all have a great day!
