Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for June 2023

It looks like I typed out my post yesterday and forgot to upload it so it is above this post. Today my husband walked the puppy for me so I was able to get in a workout in the gym! I started with and uphill walk on my TM, 5.0 incline and traveled 2.2 miles. I cannot believe how easy that walk was, since walking the hills again with my dog, I have some stamina now for walking inclines on the street or the TM. Next, I did my own upper body circuit and it was good, I wanted to lift slower and heavier today so I thought I better just do it on my own to avoid injury. I did two circuits and each set was x 12 reps and I did each circuit twice. Total workout time was 1 hour 8 minutes and I burned 593 calories.

Chest Press- 20's x 12, x 12
Wide Grip Cable Pull Downs- 60# x 12, x 12
Seated Overhead Press- 17's x 12, x 12
Bicep Curls Traditional- 15's x 12, x 12
Lying Triceps Ext.- 15's x 12, x 12

Chest Flys- 12's x 12, x 12
1 Arm Cable Rows- 50# x 12, x 12
1 Arm Lateral Raise- 10# x 12, x 12
Hammer Curls- 15's x 12, x 12
Cross Body Lying Ext.- 12# x 12, x 12

I listened to the Eagles in concert while I worked out and it was a great! I am going to try to get in one more weightlifting day this week over the weekend, I am trying to get back into lifting more going forward.

Debbie, great job on the workout today. Yes, my husband and I do a lot of stuff without each other, he likes to hunt, go to the gun range, go dirt bike riding, street bike riding and visit my son in college where it is all guys. I like to go to the beach, go to the wine country, hike and walk etc. and do more girls things. We try to take a vacation together once a year if we can. I don't mind and either does he, we like what we like.

Roxie, follow Bethany Frankel on Instagram, she was diagnosed with the same thing and is diving deep into it with the top doctors to see what you can do for yourselves. I get run away heartbeat ever since having Covid, but I know how to deal with it. I lay down flat and take deep breaths and it takes about a minute for it to go away. Covid vaccines have caused the worst Auto Immune Diseases and the CDC now admits that this is true. Heart disease is up 750% for people that got vaccinated, that is why they sealed the side effects of the vaccine for 55 years. Good luck with it. Take beet chews and it will help lower your blood pressure naturally.

Diane Sue, great job with the workout yesterday. I hope you have no knots today :)

Belinda, good job on your workout and I hope all went well at the doctor's appointment.

Have a nice day.

Good Afternoon,

I walked 2.17 miles this morning and it is so hot and humid. My heart rate got up to 105 just cleaning my bathroom so I know tonight it will sore watching two ballgames with no shade.

Debbie- yes there is a medication to help raise the blood pressure and I take it 3 times a day then at night I take something to slow my heart rate which lowers my blood pressure it’s a balancing act.

Jolie- I have been reading up on it and there isn’t a whole lot they can do. When my heart rate gets up I just have to take a break sometimes I have to lay down and put my feet up and I definitely can’t go from standing to laying down to standing back up again in a hurry also doing the plank position to standing has to be done slowly

Debbie- the blood pressure issue isn’t new it’s always been low just found a doctor that actually wanted to do something about it

I did Penny Barnshaw on YT this morning - modifying everything to low impact. My paid was back again last night (another kidney stone?) and it was hard to sleep.

I did Penny 35 min. Total Body Tabata Weights & Cardio. It was fast and furious and just what I wanted for today. It was hot in my workout room. Each circuit has 3 weight exercises and 1 cardio exercise. 20/10 2x. I liked it. I also took a 1.5 mile walk at lunchtime and will walk my dog tonight.

Debbie, hope you like Michelle. I think she is awesome and her workouts are pretty fun. Actually STS is pretty good. The 3 total body ones I have are well designed and it moves quick. I though 3 rounds would be a dread but surprisingly, it feels just right.

Roxie and Doreen, hope you both feel better soon.

Diane, way to work STS!

Jolie, yes the glider workout I did was a YT workout. It's weird, I was sore below my underarm area. Never was sore there before. My husband goes on fishing trips with the guys 2x a year, too. We also have our separate interests.

What the heck ia Max Trainer? Is it a piece of equipment?

Belinda, how are you liking your new flooring?

Good workouts everyone!

No workout tomorrow. DH and I are getting together with a friend we haven't seen in 25 years.

Have a good weekend!

This morning I wanted to do CDorner's Arms and Abs workout that was live but it didn't start until 9 and I'm usually done by 9. So I did her 25 Minute Not Boring Toned Arms Workout with Weights and it was a really good workout. I liked it a lot. This is the first time I've done a weight lifting workout with Chris. I want to try the Arms and Abs one next week.

This was 16 reps each exercise and she did the list of exercises straight through and then repeats them two more times. Tough workout.

Up/Out/In/Down Curls: 10's (Chris used 15's for all three sets. These are hard on my elbows so I just used 10's. Still challenging)
Alternate Kickbacks: 8's
Alternate Arnold Press: 12's
Hammer Twists: 15's
Overhead Triceps Ext.: 15#
Alternate Reverse Standing Lateral Raise: 8's/5's/5's (these were hard, you hold the dumbbells up and lower them instead of holding them by your hips and raising them. Tough!! She used 10's I think and 8's killed me)

Repeat all of this two more times. Fun and it went quick. Workout was 32 minutes, burned 280 calories and HR was 135/166.

I walked on my treadmill first to get warmed up. I walked for 21 minutes, burned 219 calories, went 1.04 miles, did 2487 steps and HR was 153/180.

My HR has been up lately which is weird. I think my old BP meds that I was on slowed my heart rate down a bit because they thought I had Aortic Bicuspid Valve disorder (but after 10 years of echos they finally admitted that I didn't have this). So maybe my new meds are why my HR is up.

Jolie - Did you see I got on my Max Trainer this week? Not sure if you saw my post. It was fun getting back on that thing again. I hope to use it two or three times a week. Good job with your workouts!!

Roxie - So weird about your heart rate. I hope you can get it under control, at least it seems like you know what to do now. Just listen to your body and you should be fine.

Doreen - Hope you are feeling better today. I hope it's not a kidney stone, those are horrible sometimes.

Diane - Great job on your leg workout!! You are killing it with STS!!

Cam - That's a good thing to hear about STS. They seem so long. Eventually I will probably get me a couple of the DVD's. Great job with your workout! The Max Trainer is by Bowflex. This is what it looks like: Max Trainer It is an awesome piece of equipment. Jolie and I both have one.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Today I went for a 4.3 mile walk with Rowdy, 1 hour and 22 minutes through the hills and burned 782 calories. This puppy walks so fast, I am walking as fast as possible the entire time to keep up with him. I love walking with him, it is fun and it really makes me go far, compared to walking on my TM in the gym. Also, it is so beautiful out at 7am and the view of the ocean makes it nice too!

Debbie, great job on the workout today. I did not see that you got on your Max Trainer this week, good for you! How did I miss that post? Was your knee ok with it?

Cam, the Max Trainer is like an Assault Bike except you are standing upwards like on a stair climber, but you use your arms and legs. It is killer!!!! It is by Bow flex and Debbie got one a few years back and loved it so I wanted to get on too :) Great job on the workout yesterday.

Doreen, Sorry to hear that you are having that pain again, maybe do a Kidney Flush. Nice job on the workout yesterday.

Daine, great job with the STS legs workout. There is no way that was your calorie burn for that workout with those weights. No way! Something must be wrong with your fitness tracker, right?

Have a nice day, I hope the sun comes out today. Tomorrow is a rest day, I am meeting my parents for breakfast and to meet their new dog.

I did a bike ride today up Cheyenne Canyon on the Palmer trail. 2.5 miles of climbing and then turn around and fly back down!!

I'm really feeling stuck on loosing weight. I still have 15lbs to loose and have been here for over a year! Nothing seems to budge. I seem to do ok during the day and then eat too much at night. I tried a free trial of Noom but not sure I want to have to track all that stuff in their app plus its expensive - about $56 per month once out of their free trial periods. I guess that might incentivize people to loose weight quickly and get off the app.

Hi,

I did STS UB 2 today. I‘s raining nonstop here, no walking.

We came home late last night. UPenn wants me to get another CT scan in 6 month instead of year. They want to make sure, it‘s not RP related. They said it rare to have an enlarged atery with RP, it‘s been reported. They also want me to get a lot of tests done before I see them again in 6 month.

My neighor invited us to their house on Saturday, she got shingles last Friday. She said, she is done with her meds but still have a rash. Is she still contagious? I read online, once the rash has developed crusts, which can take 2-4 weeks, the person is no longer contagious. I already canceled last week. I never had the shingles shots or chickenpox.

I will be back later to catch up on personals. I am beat.

Debbie, I went and looked and checked Kelly's Youtube just in case that is where the protein balls went. It was not there either. Here is the recipe.

Protein Balls
1 cup steel cut oats
1 cup protein Powder
1 cup peanut butter (crunchy or smooth)
1/2 cup agave or honey (I always use about half that much honey)
mix it up, they used their hands
add 1/4 cup chocolate chips and mix in.
I think she said to refrigerate them. She says she grabs one when she goes out in the mornings.

I have been busy and trying to get to bed earlier and still get things done. Great job with Cardio Core Fusion. I did that one the first time with four risers and lowered to 3 as well the second time. I think if I remember right I did not care for the protein bars as much. I think it was the difference in using water in them and quick oats. I like the crunch in the balls with the steel cut oats. I should try the bars again and adjust ingredients. That CDorner Hip stretch did help a lot.

Belinda, 3 hours one way is an awful long trip. I bet it was tiring. You should stay away from the neighbor till the shingles is gone. I got the Shingrix vaccine several years ago. You do not want to go through that. Nice work getting in STS Upper Body 2 today.

Roselyn, nice work with STS 2.0 Upper body 2.

Jolie, that was a good long walk today. I used to always do a cardio workout before weights to get loosened up good and it did help burn more calories. Not big time though.

Hi,

I walked this morning and STS mobility 1 plus SBF posture workout.

Diane - when do you workout? What time you do usually get up in the morning? You stay up late. I am already in bed sound asleep, lol. Nice job with your workout. Yeah, it‘s for research. I hope one day by doing it it will help someone else with RP. Thanks for the recipe.

Cam - we are done in the living room. We are doing the kitchen with will take longer. My kitchen is huge.

Have a great evening.

Today I did Raw Box for your waistline, 32 minutes, heart rate 132/163, 169 calories, 1,444 steps. I used 1# shoe weights holding in my palm. I then did STS 2.0 Premix Standing Ab: metabolic core warm up + core floor. I like the way this one uses the 5 and 8 # weight plates and gliders. I had to do it in my other workout space so my dog was sort of worried over me taking over "her room". This was 25 minutes, heart rate 128/153, 123 calories, 772 steps. I finished with 2.0 mobility 2 with a couple of hip flexor stretches added on, 22 minutes, 40 calories, 284 steps. Total time spent 79 minutes, 332 calories, 2500 steps.
I got up early this morning and pulled grass out of my planter before it gets hot and the front of the house is in the full son.

Jolie, my calorie burns seem weird to me as my heart rate gets up, but it does not show in my calories. Maybe because I am at 105 lbs and it makes account for that? Weight training in the past with other heart rate monitors have always been low on calories. The workout manager has always showed much higher calorie burns and if I do the math and figure out what met value I had with my burn, I would be working out in the yoga met value zones. I feel like I am working hard though. I have had fitness trackers that gave even lower burns. Another thing is it takes a lot to get my heart rate up and keep it there. Walks early in the mornings and seeing the ocean would be beautiful.

Cam, nice work with Penny Total Body Tabata Weights and Cardio. I hope you and your husband enjoyed your visit with a friend you had not seen in many years.

Doreen, I have heard others say Noom is really good. That is a lot of money per month. I just log my food that I eat in My Fitness Pal. I also have my net diary. Both of these apps have more to them if you pay extra. Almost any program or app seems to require logging plus if you use a recipe that does not have the macros you have to build the recipe yourself. I am not sure how Noom works. I hope that you can find what works for you.

Belinda, nice work with 2.0 Mobility 1 and SBF posture workout. I usually have a goal to get started on my work out by 11 a.m. Today it ended up being since I went outside to clean the planter first. I have to start my morning with coffee, checking emails and then devotions before I do my workout.

This morning I did Michelle's 55 min. RIP Full Body Strength Beat Driven from her member channel. It was good. It was broken up by muscle groups with varying rep patterns using moderate to light weights. What a muscle burn! I really like her RIP workouts. Again, it reminded me a lot of Cathe's older weight style workouts.

Diane, good job with RAW today. We had a nice visit with our friend. So much catching up to do and not enough time. He is an electrical engineer and designs software for Ford. He had some interesting stories about the workforce.

Belinda, we need your rain! Hopefully we will get some tomorrow as is being predicted. The grass is brown. Its hot but low humidity and not many mosquitoes. So we are able to sit outside.

Doreen, I bet you can take the weight off on your own. I just lost a few pounds this Spring, that I gained from the holidays. For me it's also portion control. I eat healthy, but I started cutting everything in half. It took about a month and a half. My stomach loves it and I feel good. Can you walk at night? The thing with "programs" is, what happens when it's done? I think if you maybe incorporate metabolic cardio and strength too, you will shed the pounds. I got in the habit of eating applesauce (which I love), for my sweet tooth. I eat more vanilla Greek yogurt too. I don't do vitamins or supplements, but I like healthy food. I just eat too much of it. Ha! Good luck. You got this!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Hi,

45 min yoga is done. It‘s too humid to walk outside today. Getting lots done around the house.

Diane - that makes sense! I thought for a minute you do your workouts late at night. I like getting my workouts in the morning, otherwise I talk myself out. You and I have the same routine in the morning before we workout. Great job on Raw Box. KCM is coming out with new workouts on DVD‘s. Does she have all her workouts on demand?

Cam - our grass looks pretty brown too. It‘s raining off and on the last few day‘s. I hope you get some rain soon. The humidity is very high here. I took Sadie outside this morning, around 7:30am it was so hot ouside already. I am skipping my walk today.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Today I did a Fitness Kaykay 40 min. No Repeat Standing Cardio Hiit. It was ok, but not very creative. It was a no-repeat, but a lot of the moves were similar to each other, so I did my own thing. Oh well, thought I would try a different trainer. It was 30/30, but the 30 was an active rest. I made it more like a 40/20 and didn't do any flying air jacks or tuck jumps. What is it with high knees in these Hiit workouts? So boring!

Well Belinda, we got some rain overnight and I think more is to come. It looks like it's going to rain soon.

I have a long work day tomorrow, so I may just take a walk with the dog when I get home, unless its raining then I will do a short weight workout. My dog has had an upset stomach and needing to go out early in the morning the past 2 days. Ugh! Not sure what the problem is. She has teeth issues and maybe its effecting her digestive system.

Today is my rest day and then Mon and Tuesday is Upper and Lower 2 of STS. My grandson is coming Thursday to stay for a few days so I will see how the Body Parts days start out,
It is really hot outside today.

Cam, nice work with Michelle RIP workout yesterday. I have had some friends that I do not see or talk to for long periods and when we do talk even on the phone the conversation goes on for hours. I am glad that you had a nice time catching up. I have looked at Kay Kay workouts, but had not heard anyone mention doing them so I figured they must not be that enticing. I never did do a complete air jack as it really is tough on my knees when I land, and my feet are not in the best position on the landing. If it isn't those moves it is a bunch of burpees and mountain climbers.

Belinda, nice work getting in a 45-minute yoga session. It is very hot and humid outside today. My preference is to get in the workouts in the morning. That is why when I have an appointment early, I just take a rest day as I never feel like doing it after I get home. Even if I get home about the time I normally would work out. Once I have showered, I do not want to do it again the same day. Kelly puts all of the new dvds on the Raw channel. It takes a little time before they are actually up on Raw though. Generally if there are two workouts on the dvd they are both put together, you just have to find the spot from workout one and workout 2. One price and you get her dvds and her Raw workouts. She even put some of the premixes from a few of the dvds up. There is a few of her first workouts that she did not put up.

Roselyn, nice work on 2.0 biceps.
