Today I woke up tired and with a headache, I need a rest day. Even my puppy is tired so we just went for a short walk and will call it a day. I have allergies pretty bad today, so I guess that is why I have a headache.

What are your plans for the 4th of July? I think we will go for a beach walk early in the morning and then BBQ or smoke some meat and have a meal outside. I usually do not go out on the 4th too much, the traffic at the beach is insane. All the people coming to the beach from the inland to escape the hot weather causes no parking at the beach areas. Also, drunk drivers scare me, so it is better to be safe than sorry. Everyone gets on their electric bikes or golf carts because it is basically the only way to get around, but I do not own either one.

Debbie, great job on the workout today and enjoy your shopping!

Diane Sue, great job on your workout yesterday. Which ones do you like so far the most? I want to purchase some if you think they are worth it but I am not sure which ones to buy. I only want to get the ones that are similar to Meso 2 in the original STS.

Cam, great job on the workout yesterday.

Doreen, how do you like STS 2.0 so far? Good job on the weight workout and the dog walk.

BBL to read the other posts for the day.

Good morning,

No walk today, the air quality is 154 - unhealthy to be outside. Bummer! It's very foggy outside. I did STS 2.0 UB 2. Great workout.

Debbie - have fun meeting your friend. Great job this morning.

Jolie - STS 2.0 non of them seem similar to STS M2, IMO! They seem different than the original STS to me. Maybe UB 1+2 and LB 1+2? I have done STS rotations since it came out. I don't get the feeling of doing STS. I like the STS 2.0 a lot, they are just different. I am on week 5 of the 12 week STS 2.0 rotation. Unless I go up in weights each week on my own, I probably will not get much gain like I did in the original STS program. Cathe stays at the same weight the entire time throughout. I like the original STS for that reason, you knew when to go up in weight each week. Still I am glad I got the set, so much variety. They are still very good workouts. I haven't done any of the body parts workouts yet. That being said, I am glad I got STS 2.0. I enjoy the workouts. I probably will do the original STS afterwards. Oh, the workouts are not much shorter than the original STS.

I will be back later with personals. Need to get some stuff done around the house.

My grandson is supposed to be here soon. Today I did STS body parts legs, 51 minutes, 119 calories. I would feel better about weight workouts if I got close to what the workout manager has. It has something like 397 calories on this workout. That is it for me today. I had groceries come and now have to go order my collagen powder as somehow, I did not get it on my Walmart order.
I did not get a full nights sleep last night. My husband came in and I heard him fixing something to eat and light was filtering into the room. I do not always get woke up when he comes in. I did fall back to sleep and then somehow kicked something off of the bed and we heard it hit the floor. I went to bed at 1 am. Tried to get things done so I could enjoy grandchild time. Also fireworks were popping late and my dog came flying in the house barking and whining. Then every time a pop she would whine.

STS 2.0 Body Parts Legs (has 1 minute rests)
warm up is squats with 10,12,15# dumbbells (wish the workout cards were specific as to dumbbell or dumbbells)
Squats #1 25# dbs 8 reps
Squats #2 with medium fabric loop 20# dbs 10 reps
Squats #3 with medium fabric loop 20# dbs 10 reps
Squats #4 with heels elevated dumbbells racked 15# dbs 10 reps
Deadlift #1 30# dbs 8 reps
Deadlift #2 30# dbs 8 reps
Close Grip Sumo Squat 1 1/2 40# db 8 reps (I need to go up with this and use my dumbbell bar and plates or Bowflex weights)
Static lunge #1 R/L 20# dbs 10 reps
Static Lunge #2 R/L 20# dbs 10 reps
Side lunge with gliding disc#1 R/L 25# db 10 reps
Side lunge with gliding disc #2 R/L 25# db 10 reps
Elevated lunge using step 25# eb R/L 12 reps
Elevated forward leaning lunge R/L 25# db 12 reps
Barbell Hip Thrust # 1 (I did on the floor with a db rather than on the step) 40# db 16 reps ?
Barbell Hip Thrust #2 40# db 12 reps ?
Barbell Hip Thrust #3 40# db 8 slow reps
Side lying Hip Raise medium fabric boss loop 12 reps
Calves in a Box 15 reps each direction then 8 reps each direction(totals a lot of reps) 15# dbs
stretch

Debbie, nice work today. Isn't there a premix that omits the band work on that one? I kind of remember us talking about that in the past as some of it aggravates the trap and upper back area. I am getting better with this with all of the band work at PT and in Boss bands and with Chris. Not that I do not still get that pain sometimes. I still think a lot is posture. I just cannot look down for any length of time before I start feeling the pain hit. My shoulders, upper back and neck have been sore quite a bit with these new workouts though. I feel pretty good in that area today. I forgot about crazy 8's and 21's till she added them to the Upper Body workout in the new series. It is tough after doing the other biceps moves.
Have fun at the craft store and lunch with a friend. When I get into Hobby Lobby or a craft store I can spend hours and dollars! My children and I used to have fun going to the big Hobby Lobby complex that is now not there. It was like a craft mall that went from room to room.

Doreen, nice work with 2.0 Upper Body 1 first half and the dog walk today.

Jolie, enjoy the rest day and you and your dogs relax time. I have my grandson till Monday. The 4th of July my husband works and I will probably spend the evening consoling my dog through all of the fireworks. Those electric bikes are expensive. I don't see how they can give someone much exercise. My husband has one in his wish list though. I thought I was getting past allergies as I went through 3 months instead of weeks with an allergy reprieve. But they kicked up big time recently even when pollen was low. No allergy meds work including the Astepro which pretty much knocked me out that my doctor suggested since it "works for things other than pollen as well". I am thinking maybe mold or air quality that has been off and on warned about. But, something is doing it. I ended up the last two nights sleeping with my wedge so my head was elevated. I have had a headache more like sinus along with it.
At this point I like most of the workouts in the new series. They are not fast paced workouts. More concentrated moves. I will probably not do the total body workouts a lot. just prefer to concentrate on a part or two at a time. Upper and Lower was good except for I was still juggling around equipment even after doing them once. Most stuff can be done with the option of dumbbells or a barbell and there are substitutions with dumbbells or various ways to use the tubing for moves. I think that I am going to prefer the Body Part workouts and those were the ones I would have purchased if I was going to choose individual workouts. I like the abs workout that uses the weight plates, but all of the abs are on one dvd so yes on the abs. I have been posting the workouts so those that are interested can see what they are like. With a few notes. Be aware I am going lighter that Cathe. Those Hip thrusts are done by Cathe with her shoulders on a step and 75# barbell. It just hurts my upper back to do that. I am sure I can go heavier than the 40# dumbbell that I used. I do not have a bar pad. I think there are more form pointers and alternatives in the new workouts than STS had.

Belinda, that is a high number for air quality. Ours is good today at 42. I never thought I would look at that, but with allergies acting up for some reason I started trying to find the culprit. Actually I am not coughing and sneezing has let up. Pollen is very high, so go figure. I don't think we often have bad air quality here. Food job on STS 2.0 Upper #2 today. Sorry you do not get a walk in.

Good Afternoon,

I went for a walk this morning 2.36 miles and it was humid, we have been running in the 100’s the last couple days and sitting at ballgames was tough tonite should be our last one.

Belinda and Diane, thank you so much for your opinions on the new STS 2.0 program. I think that I am going to not buy them and when my Cathe Live Subscription expires, I will purchase the On Demand subscription and do them that way without buying all of the dvds. I am so glad that you two both like the program, but there is no way I am doing hip thrusts at my age, I so no need for that exercise in my routine. I still love doing the original STS, it is my favorite workout program that Cathe has ever produced. Thanks for taking the time to give my our opinions :)

This morning I did RAW Heavy Bag/Shadow Boxing with Kelly and Zach. Love this workout. I did the shadow boxing with Kelly. Such fun combos and not a fast paced, kill yourself workout. And excellent music as well. I used my 1.5# egg weights.

Workout was 39 minutes, burned 350 calories, went 2754 steps and HR was 139/163.

It has been so smoky here. Wednesday I couldn't even see across the street the smoke was so thick. I stayed home all day but had to go out to put letters in my mailbox. I couldn't believe how bad it was. The air quality was 250 at that time and 300 is the very worst. Yesterday was a bit better and it dropped to like 160 so not great, but I was able to go with my friend and we had a great time. Today the air quality is 159 so still very unhealthy. I have the AirNow app on my phone and it tells you how the air quality is around you. It's an awesome app.

Diane - Sometimes I do experiments with chickpeas, I'll make something with them in it to see if I get a rash and yep, I do. Sucks because there is so many things you can do with them. I found some organic pasta at Costco's yesterday that came from Italy so I bought that. It was 6 packs of different types of pasta for like $10. I couldn't believe it. I didn't even check the premixes on the 4DS workout I did, I'll have to do that next time. I really want to avoid anything with the band and the upper body. It will probably be another 5 years before I do that one again. LOL!!

Jolie - We don't have plans for the 4th. We don't usually go anywhere for fireworks anymore, there are enough of them going off around us here at home. We'll go outside and watch them and that is usually fun. We are having a cookout at my mom's on Monday, so looking forward to that!! My DH is off next week so I might be taking the week off from working out. We really don't have plans to go anywhere, but we might at the last minute go somewhere.

Roxie - Dang, you guys are in the 100's! Yikes! We finally hit 80 degrees here, hope it lasts. It's been downright cold here.

Have a GREAT WEEKEND everyone! I might not be around much next week as my DH is on vacation. I'm hoping to get some workouts in, though!!

Today I went for a 3.5 mile walk, 1 hour and 2 minutes and burned 619 calories. My puppy walks so fast I can barely keep up with him. The good thing is, I get in more distance in a shorter amount of time :) Next, I did STS Meso 2 disc #15 Biceps only and had a good workout. Total workout time was 1 hour and 33 minutes and I burned 745 calories.

BB Curls- 30# x 12, x 10, x 8, x 13 TF
Seated Alt. Curls with a Twist- 15's x 12, x 10, x 8, x 12 TF
Preacher Curls- 15's x 12, x 10, x 8, x 10 TF

Bonus
W Curls- 12's x 12, x 10, x 8

Debbie, great job on the workout today and using the 1.5 pound egg weights. I hope you have a fun time with your husband next week whatever you end up doing. Bummer about the smoke, this situation is ridiculous. All of those fires in Canada were set at the exact same time, Fox News should a clip of it happening from a satellite so I guess you should thank the Canadian Government for your air quality. What they will do to push the Global Warming agenda. Are you going to purchase the new STS 2.0 program?

I hope you all have great workouts today. I am hoping the sun is going to come out soon, it is dreary here this morning.

Hi,

STS LB 2 and stretch today.

Debbie - I do buy a lot of organic at Costco. You also can find some at Home Goods/TJ Maxx, Wegmanns, Whole Foods…a lot of grocery stores carry an organic/plant based section if you lucky. Our grocery has a good selection on organic foods. Glad you found some.

Jolie - you are welcome. STS is one of my favorite Cathe programs too.I think thats a great idea to try them On Demand first. I do think you would love them if you buy them. The workouts are very good. Cathe shows modifcations on the hip trust. I usually do them on the stability ball, feels better on my back

Diane - we usually don‘t have bad air quality her in WV, ever since the wild fires it‘s so high, you can‘t see the sun or sky. It‘s suppose to clear up buy Saturday. Fingers crossed. Sorry your allergy are bordering you. My DD has a lot of allergies, so is my DS and DH. I am the only one that doesn‘t have allergies. Been tested so many time. I have other problems, lol. Great job on your Body Parts Legs yesterday.

Waving Hi to everyone that checks in after me.

Today I just did the STS 2 premix Active Recovery + Total Body Stretch which was 35 minutes. We took our grandson to lunch and then out for ice cream. My neck and traps hurt all day and I was definitely not ready for the next workout which is body parts shoulders. I looked at the moves and thought no!! It is late , but I wanted to read your posts.
