Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for April 2023

Today I did CDorner workouts again. I did today's Knee Friendly Leg workout,54 minutes, 110 calories, heart rate 87/119, 503 steps.I then did a short Cardio to the Beat Low Impact Disco that she put up 2 weeks ago, 22 minutes, 119 calories, heart rate 133/166, 2,193 steps. I finished with Stretch after Step 19 minutes, 33 calories heart rate 80/98. Knee friendly leg day was good as far as not requiring squats. I had a problem with my knee on the staggered single leg dead though. I had to pause and work on form not letting my knee bend and not going too low. There is a problem with my left knee the last few days. It kind of worries me because certain positions hurt and putting pressure on it at those angles makes it feel like it is going to give out. It has been a log time since I have had it want to give out like that. It did it off and on after I had the miniscus tear. Not sure what is going on. It also made it hurt when I went outside to do some more work with shrubs and plants. I did not kneel this time, I just squated down and tried to do stuff that way. It feels okay now. Chris used 30's for the deadlifts.

Stretch

Knee Friendly Leg Day
45 seconds each move using dumbbells, tubing, and a stability ball

Deadlift series
deadlift 20# dbs
staggered single leg deadlift 15# dbs right
staggered single leg deadlift 15# dbs

bridge with feet on the ball
roll ins with ankles on the ball
roll in/bridge
pulsing bridge

Deadlifts series
same as above

Tubing
lying single leg extension 1 foot in handle wrapped around other foot to right length right single count
2 up 3 down
4/4 count
repeat on other leg

Deadlift Series with the option to do the single leg balancing

side lying inner thigh work
lift leg foot flexed
lift toe pointed pulsing
flex and point lifting
side lying tree pose lift

Belinda, I hope that you are in less pain today.

Debbie, I really like that workout. I searched some of them out and have them in my watch later folder. She calls the workouts one thing on her web page and emails, but they have a different name on YouTube. Looking at the Playlists is hard as she has more than one low impact section. Also she does not call it walking workout on the title, but it shows in the rest of the description. I like the Save a Horse Ride A Cowboy too. The short cardio I did today is all low impact and not over the top. I put up the stretch I did today because it is pretty much all lower body other than a brief neck stretch at the end. I like this stretch after step better than the other one she did. So far I am pleased with the shoes. I was worried as I switched to a wider shoe. My toes are much happier. There was a bit of discomfort at the sides of the forefoot, but once I loosened the laces towards that part of the shoe it quit bothering me. I have two pair of one style of dressier flats that are Danskos that my husband got me that are comfortable. I stayed up late last night clearing out shoes that I cannot wear anymore. I think we never know about a shoe till we have had to wear them all day having to walk in them a lot. Just to see if they are going to rub somewhere, or feet swell.
I have tried Sketchers in the past and they never worked for me at all. I was reading some stuff on what all of those numbers mean on the Hoka site for sizing and fit. People's feet and activities make a difference in the shoe needs.

Doreen, that is nice that you got to try out a Peloton when you were at your daughter's volleyball tournament. Nice work on getting Perfect 30 in.

Jolie, yes, appliances are super expensive as is everything I think. Our dishwasher was not working about a year ago and I ended up paying 350 dollars for control board and components installed. It was still cheaper than buying a new dishwasher. It quit when I had the shoulder surgery and my husband was hand washing dishes. Covid was going around and it still took awhile to get appliances delivered and finding available. I have looked at refrigerators and boy do they cost a lot. Our icemaker quit dispensing the ice and the door seal is coming off. It doesn't seem like we have had it that long.

Cam, nice work with Penny 321 hiit strength workout today and the walk. The weather is so unpredictable. We were sitting here yesterday afternoon with the fan on and then it got cold last night. It did manage to get to 60 today, but dropping to 37. I got outside to do some work though.

Roselyn, good job on the lower body workout today.

I had an excellent workout this morning, it was like the old lifting days. I found a great lifting workout from DC Fitt and she doesn't have any cardio in it. As far as I can see on her channel, this is the only one like that. All her other workouts have HiiT in them as well. This one is called 45 Minute Upper Body Workout - Superset Smash - excellent workout.

She does a heavy set and then a light set to burn out the muscle. This 40 seconds on 20 seconds rest and she does 2 sets of each superset:

SS #1
Overhead Press: 15's/12's
Alternate Overhead Press: 8's
Repeat

SS #2
Alternate Biceps Curls: 15's
Double Arm Biceps Curls: 8's
Repeat

SS #3
One Arm Row: 25#
Double Arm Row: 10's
Repeat

SS #4
Lateral Raise: 10's (she did 15's again! Yikes!)
"L" Raise: 5's
Repeat

SS #5
Chest Press: 20's
Chest Flies: 15's
Repeat

SS #6
Close Grip Press: 15's
Alternate Close Grip Press: 10's/8's (killer!)
Repeat

SS #7
Reverse Flies: 12's
Alternate Reverse Flies: 8's
Repeat

SS #8
Upright Rows: 15's
Alternate Upright Rows: 10's/5's (killer!)
Repeat

SS #9 (BW)
Pushups (I did Crunches)
Planks (I did Russian Twists w/8#)

Damn, this was a killer. That woman is strong, she uses 20's for a lot of exercises. Workout was 56 minutes, burned 442 calories (holy smokes!), HR was 131/166.

Doreen - How did you like the Peleton?

Jolie - You need to try the workout above, you will love it. It reminds of the Glassboro workout. Was the subscription you got for Cathe live a sale or is that the normal charge? $10 a month isn't bad. Hope your dishwasher arrived and is installed. Love mine!

Cam - Great job on your workout. How is your mom doing?

Roselyn - You no longer work at the senior facility? I didn't know you quit working there. Nice job on the lower body work.

Diane - Thanks for posting that stretch workout, wish I would have seen it this morning. I will do it for sure, it looks like a good one. Great job on your workout! Wonder what is causing your knee pain? Maybe you should get it x-rayed? Sorry to hear that!

Have a great workout and day everyone!! I have to get through today and then I'm off spring break for a week! Yippeeeeee!!!!

Today I did Cathe Live, All In Upper Body and had a great workout. I did the same weights as I did last week so I will not post the workout again. Workout was 50 minutes and I burned 397 calories.

Debbie, that workout that you did today looks great! I will try that on either this weekend or next week, thanks for sharing the link. We used to be that strong when we were her age too! What do you have planned for Easter?

Diane Sue, great job with the workout yesterday. That one looks really good, and it looks long. What do you have planned for Easter? I am going out for Sushi overlooking the ocean, it should be a beautiful day. Our weather is finally warming up and I am a happier person because of it. The weather in the mid west has been crazy!

I have Sciatica again on my left side so I will have a visit to the Chiro on Monday to get some relief. I think that my weight lifting belt for back support is causing it to happen, too much pressure on the Sacrum which causes the nerve pain. I guess I need to stop using the belt while lifting weights.

Have a wonderful day.

I did a 30 minute bike ride this morning and wowza the instructor was putting on the mountain biking moves and we were climbing!

I liked the peleton bike. It felt a lot like my Nordic track S22i for pedal, handlebar, and seat feel. I think the Peleton has more adustments that can be made to the seat height, etc. It is a crank resistance and the monitor tells you with resistance level you are at. My NT S22i has automatic resistance, incline and decline which I like better than the Peleton. The Peleton screen was bigger and more HD than my S22i and has more graphs and stats while in a ride. The picture obviously looks clearer and the graphics don't block the screen view like they do on my S22i. But the way the film the outdoor rides is really weird. Ifit does a "follow" type camera where it looks like you are riding behind and following the instructor. Peleton does a side angle were its like you are riding beside the instructor. And for some reason that side shot looks fake and weird. Both do scenic overhead shots and drone shots to show the scenery, nothing too different there. I didn't do a studio live class on Peleton - I'm not a fan of the studio style classes.

Today I did the workout Diane did yesterday - CDorner's 30 Minute Low Impact Cardio - which I've done a few times and love it. It has really fun music, I especially like "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" LOL! Love the moves she does to this song. I'm not even a big fan of country, but that is a cool song. I didn't go crazy with this workout and wore my knee brace. I still got a good workout in, though.

Workout was 33 minutes, burned 287 calories, did 3631 steps and HR was 136/164.

Diane - Thanks for posting that workout link, it would have taken me forever to find it. I wanted to do a lower body stretch afterwards but couldn't find one from Chris. She does a lot of mobility ones and I just wanted a stretch. Oh well, I did my own. I've purchased a real expensive pair of Hoka's before and at first I loved them but after about a month my feet started to hurt really bad. Made me mad because I couldn't return them at that point. I am in need of some comfortable dress flats, like Skechers but have a hard time getting the correct size when I order online. I hate that. I'll probably go to Kohl's or something so I can try them on. I have zero luck with shoes anymore. I hope your knee is feeling better today. I know, 15's on lateral raises is just crazy. I never did that when I was at my peak. So dangerous.

Jolie - I want to do the 6 month subscription for Cathe Live as well, I might during the summer. I want my knee to get a bit better before I spend money on the subscription. I love the Glassboro workout, that is a great heavy weight workout. Great job with your workout! It's 71 here this morning but unfortunately it won't last. :(

Belinda - OUCH on the finger!! OMG. I hope it heals fast, that had to hurt!! How long will you be in FL? I hope you have a good time even though your finger hurts. Don't workout, just relax and have fun!! You'll get a lot of walking in, I'm sure.

Roxie - I agree, I need to get moving as well. Although I haven't gained weight, I feel heavier if that makes sense. Not sure why.

Roselyn - LOL on watching your grandchild. They are a handful!!

Cam - Good job with your workout. I am glad I can finally do some leg moves without pain. I like DC Fitt, I just wish she had some lifting workouts without HiiT. It seems like that's the only kind of workouts she does. I like them, but at times I like to just lift. I'll have to comb through her channel to see if I'm missing the just lifting workouts.

Doreen - Where are you?

Have a great day everyone!!
Thank you! We will be in Florida for 3 weeks. I can’t work out with my fingers wrapped like this. We walk early in the mornings. I broke all my fingernails from the impact too. Today my entire hand hurt, I am sure it’s from the impact. They did an X-ray from my hand.my finger is still pretty swollen. If it doesn’t get better by next week, I will see a doctor. Great job on your workouts.

Today I did Michelle 1 hr. PiYo Full Body Low Impact Cardio, Yoga & Flexibility. The hour flew. My legs and arms got a workout without weights.

Belinda, you can't catch a break! I hope you heal fast and enjoy your vacation.

Diane, I almost did Chris's Cardio workout from today. It looked good. Good workouts.

Jolie, I am always tempted to subscribe to Cathe Live. Someday I will. Please post your workouts and give me your opinions on workouts you do.

Debbie, good workout. Glad you are enjoying workouts w/out pain.

Rainy, windy, awful weather here for the next couple days. I keep hoping we'll get some warm sunny weather, but it doesn't seem to be happening.
Thank you! I am making the best of this situation. My hair is a hot mess

Today I did CDorner Low or High Impact Cardio to the Beat following Chris who did the low impact and a friend there that did it higher. This was 28 minutes, 150 calories, heart rate 130/158, 2,987 steps. I then did CDorner Easy 20 minute back stretch/ lower back refresh, 18 minutes, 20 calories. Total time was I removed the wedge I sleep with to elevate my legs, but then this morning my back was sore. Probably due also to the deadlifts. Total workout time was 46 minutes, 170 calories.
I had groceries delivered from Walmart and had to hurry to get showered before they got here. They messed up on the order, but I just let it go. For some reason I ended up with two quarts of whipping cream  I did not order and an extra bag of broccoli slaw along with being missing kombucha tea. I let it go through. The last couple of times I notified them when this happened, they did not want to pick up the items and they made me make a list of the things missing and prices so they could give a refund. Not sure what I will do with all of that cream. I usually buy a pint of Organic cream and it lasts at least a month as I use 1 Tbs a day in coffee and some when I make my husband's scalloped potatoes. I have frozen cream before for recipes and it still works in cooking. Walmart brand cream has carrageenan and additives.
Hopefully I am up for more of a workout tomorrow.

Debbie, that looks like a good workout. I added it to my watch later list. I am not sure about the knee pain. When it first started it was after I was kneeling in the yard cutting back shrubs and doing clean up. Then it just seems when I turn my leg at a diagonal and put some force on it it hurts. Today, stepping down into the garage carrying a pack of water hurt. I am hoping it lets up. I have my arthritis appointment later this month and my primary check up the first week of May. Most everything is on my left side. Most of the rib and sternum pain issue is on the left, the knee, and the foot issues. Bones in the foot are pronounced along the big toe. I am afraid they are going to want to give more meds and I have been trying everything I can to manage without stronger meds.

Jolie, great job with the Live All In Upper workout today. I plan on going to church for Easter services and then hanging out with my husband when he wakes up. We are doing Easter family day a week from Sunday at my son's house. I am glad you are getting some sunshine. We have sun right now, although Sunday a rain cloud found me when I was out. It was funny because I could see the sun shining on the road ahead of me, but rain was pouring on my car. Our weather has had ups and downs. I almost took the electric blanket off of the bed, and then saw it was getting down to 37 and decided to wait.

Belinda, I feel so bad for you. Hoping the pain lets up. I am glad you are able to get out and walk. Hopefully since you are on vacation for 3 weeks, you get some pain free time to really enjoy yourself.

Doreen, that is interesting on the differences in your bike and the peloton. Nice work with the climb today.

This morning I had an excellent cardio workout. Or workouts I should say. First I started with RAW Heavy Band/Shadow Boxing (with Kelly's and her son, Zach) and then followed that with RAW Heavy Bag Finisher. Then I also did the RAW Stretch Finisher. Great sweaty workout.

total workout was 64 minutes, burned 470 calories, did 3251 steps and HR was 124/160. I feel good today!!

Getting ready to do some grocery shopping and then me and my mom are going to Good Friday mass.

Jolie - I think you will like that DCFitt workout I did yesterday. I am so sore!! She's a fun instructor and not annoying at all.

Doreen - I've heard pretty good things about the Peleton, I don't think I'd get one, though. My Max Trainer is pretty much all I need. Glad you were able to try one out.

Belinda - Yea, I figured you wouldn't be able to workout with your hand like that. Have fun in FL!! I hope it's warm there.

Diane - That is why I hate ordering groceries. I have done that through Meijers but I go pick it up. They always get something wrong. Very frustrating. Great job on your workout. I hope they can figure something out with your knee, that isn't fun.

Well, you all have a wonderful Easter! God Bless you all and I'll see you on Monday!

Morning all. I did Perfect 30 upper body pump this morning. It's been so long since I've done these that I've forgotten the moves!

Today I did CDorner Toned Arms with dumbbells and tubing, 48 minutes, 94 calories. I also did her Stretch Full Body Static Stretching meant for after workouts or before bed and added some foam rolling, 44 minutes 59 calories. I decided the give the legs a rest today, but wanted to do something. Total time was 92 minutes, 138 calories. I liked this workout as it was not so rough on my shoulders and some interesting ways of using the tubing.

Debbie, nice workout mix. I like the ones you put together. I am usually pretty good about choosing, monitoring etc. with Walmart and Whole Foods. I put in substitutions for some items to be sure I get what I want. So, not too many flubs.

Doreen, I have a lot of Cathe workouts that I cannot remember the moves on. I have tried refreshing my memory on the old ones by looking at the workout manager. The ones that have the guides and worksheets I just pull out the folder with them in it. One I did recently I forgot the push ups and things in between the weight work. I might not have wanted to do them if I remembered that. I could skip them though. Nice work with P30 upper body today.

I forgot to check in yesterday with my workout. I did a 1 mile walk on the Treadmill uphill but not a high incline because my low back is sore from working in the back yard. I then did Caroline Girvan's Epic 2 20 minutes Arms with DB's but it is actually 51 minutes long. This is the best workout, and I will do this over and over again. 40 seconds on, 20 seconds off alternating between Biceps and Triceps. I burned 441 calories, and I lifted heavy weights. I am not going to post the exercises because I am short on time, and it is 45 exercises total.

Today I did a 45-minute uphill walk on the TM, traveled 2.5 miles and burned 452 calories. Next, I did Caroline Girvan's 20 minutes Intense DB Shoulder Workout at Home 30 seconds on for two exercises each and a 30 second rest, then on to the next two exercises. Total workout time was 78 minutes and I burned 610 calories.

I did not do the 3-minute plank challenge at the end, I stretched instead.

This is a great short shoulder workout, and I cannot wait to do it again.

Great job on the workouts yesterday and today everyone, we are killing it even though it is a holiday weekend! Make it a great day. I plan on working out tomorrow, no plans for Easter because my son is at college, my other son is working and my husband and I are just going out for sushi at the beach. It will be 70 degrees so we are going out for some sunshine. I hope you all have the best Easter with your family or friends.

Today I did CDorner Step Class 80's #278, 59 minutes, 267 calories, heart rate 121/148, 3,553 steps. I then did the stretch after step, 17 minutes, 30 calories and decided to do the Ab workout that she had up this week, I did 15 minutes of it and it was 25 minutes total. I stopped at the side plank stuff as my wrist was hurting with the bird dog, knee in and hold. This was 36 calories, heart rate 81/115. Total time was 91 minutes, 333 calories, 3,576 steps. My knee is much better today. I did adjust and modify some of the moves on the step like a cross back across the step, mainly anything that could pull the knee to the side.

Belinda, I bet it was nice hanging out at the beach after lunch. Have a good day!

Doreen, I am sure that you are anxious to get back outside for your rides. Nice work today.

Jolie, great job on the weight workouts yesterday and today. Weight workouts always take me longer than the time they say they will be. I have to stop and switch out weights and write things down. Have fun tomorrow. I will probably work in the yard after church.

Happy Easter ,

we hang out at the beach again yesterday, glad we did. Today it’s raining and it’s kinda chilly out side.

Diane - it was nice at the beach. Although I can’t lay in the sun, I still had a lot of fun. Sadie loves the beach. I am glad I bought the beach tent, it keeps me covered.

Happy Easter!

We did church last night because my daughter was working this morning (Easter on Saturday night is weird - lol).
I did Perfect 30 mobility flow this morning - it felt really good - I need to do more of these types of workouts. Then I took the dog for a short bike ride (don't want to over do him because we haven't gone all winter) and then hubby and I took him for a short walk as well.
