Getting Our Licks In!

3-10-14

Had dental work done on Saturday. I was in too much pain to workout. Sunday didn't feel much better but I did go ahead & start Zuzka's Kettlebell workout #1. Saturday watched the demo dvd on all the moves. Workout 1 concentrated on legs & chest & obliques. After my kettlebell workout I did Turbo Fire 30 Class.

Tonight will be workout #2 + 21 Day Fix 10 Min. Abs. I have no idea what's on workout #2 but will soon find out.

I took my measurements Saturday morning & to my surprise I lost 2" from my waist, 1" from each thigh but unfortunately no loss from my hips. However, I think I'm more in proportion now. Autumn's little containers really do work. I'm still using them even though I have a different rotation.

Janie Sis: I'm sorry that you're down with a terrible cold but glad to hear that your finally turning for the best. Glad you started in again making jewelry for the art fair. Its always fun & uplifting when you do something creative.

Michelle: Good job on M3 & using the squat rack & for doing Step Moves. I'm still trying to get over my little Tuxie. Its hard when I do the grocery shopping & look down the pet supply aisle. I hope Tuxie, Lex & Ripken met each other by now & are friends.

Cindy: Hope the water receded & didn't show up in your house. I hope you didn't come down with a sinus infection. Hope the kids are doing fine too.

Take care,
Kathy

I've been battling this cold all weekend, it's in my sinuses and most the time I feel OK but by night I'm exhausted. I really enjoyed the Pilates Equipment class on Friday, definitely feeling muscles I don't normally hit. I'm contemplating signing up again for Friday since that's the last class time this month I can make. Saturday I took the day off and yesterday I did P90X3 CVX, it was brutal but felt great. This morning I planned to get up to do Yoga but I forgot and hit snooze too long. My SIL is staying with us since she's flying to Colorado tomorrow but I'm hoping she and Dave get out for a run so I can do my exercise while they're gone.

Water has gotten a little better for most but we have rain and snow planned for today so we'll see what it does.

Michelle - I think a puppy is a great reason to help with allergies :) Hope this week isn't as busy for you and happy you're not sick!

Janie - Sorry you got so sick, hope this new week sees you feeling better. I've been taking teas and airborne trying to keep this at bay and get it licked as quickly as possible! I hate how when mom's sick it doesn't matter I still have to do everything :(

Kathy - Ouch on the dental work, I hate the pain it can cause afterwards. Great job starting Zuzka & I hope the mouth is feeling better.

Cindy

Kathy Sis, Awe, dental work is hard to go through. Great job starting Zuzka's Kettlebell workout 1 and Turbo Fire 30 class. WooHoo! Loosing those inches is amazing! Congratulations on all your hard work.

Cindy
, I'm battling a cold as well and I'm finely feeling a tad better today. Great job on Pilates equipment class on Friday. And for doing P90X3 CVX. It sounds brutal! Hoping Airborne is helping for you. Hugs.

Take care,

Janei

STS disc 27 today, shoulders, biceps, and triceps. Still very busy at work, but taking a "mental health" break to do my check-in. Spring-like weather expected here in Va for most of the week--Yeah!

Kathy: dental worth is a pain in the mouth; literally. Hope you've fully recovered from the experience. I'm still waiting on my 21 day Fit. Not sure when BeachBody is supposed to ship. I don't recall the order confirmation email indicating a ship date but I could have missed it.

Janie: Positive sign that you are feeling a little better. Maybe a little yoga would help chase the germs away for good.

Cindy: Hope you are able to get your workout in today. Sinus colds can be absolutely miserable.

Hi to sister who is on her second week of STS meso 1.

Last night felt better so I did Zuzka's kettlebell workout #2 + 21 Day Fix 10 Min. Abs. I finally was able to do the bonus round. I don't know what I looked like but I'm sure it wasn't pretty. Tonight b/c Zuzka's workouts are short (15 min.) I'm going to do #3 & #4 + one of the X10 workouts for my cardio. Zuzka has yoga poses for your warmup which is great for me. Her cooldown/stretch is excellent too. Her form is impeccible.

Michelle: I don't know how long its going to take you to receive 21 Day Fix. Great job on Disk #27. Its 62 degrees here. We can't believe it. Not for long though. Rain & sleet expected by Wed. night into Thurs. Will it ever end!!!! Glad your having spring weather too.

Janie Sis: Yoga might help but depends on how your feeling. Rest is fine too. Glad your feeling better & soon on the mend.

Cindy: Feel better. Sinus colds are miserable. Hope you don't have to run around too much w/that cold.

Waves to Renee!

I took last night off since my nose was more plugged than it's been with this cold so I spent the time reading a book on how to get rid of ovarian cysts with diet. I have quite a bit still to read but I'm hopeful it can help me get rid of these darn things. They thankfully aren't causing me any pain but I've had enough of the bleeding and it only seems to be getting worse. I am feeling a bit better today but I will probably take tonight off also and try to get to bed early.

Janie - Glad you're feeling better!

Michelle - Enjoy the nicer weather :) We just got a few wet inches last night but it will melt away soon enough.

Kathy - Glad you're enjoying the Zuzka workouts and I'm sure you looked awesome doing the bonus round.

Cindy

Low Impact Circuit Step only premix today and JM 30 day shred with my boss at work this evening. I don't do all of the JM workout--just the cardio and the abs--not the weight work. Yoga tomorrow.

Cindy: boy, you are having a rough time: a cold and ovarian cysts. Not fun. And I hear that ya'll are having a major meltdown in Montana--more flooding expected. Geesch!

Kathy: I'm not in a hurry to get 21 day fit and I forgot to check the Beachbody email again. We've got the same cold snap coming on Thursday but no frozen stuff expected here and only cold for one day and then the temps are supposed to moderate. More power to you on getting through a Zuzka workout. She is tough.

Janie: hope you are feeling better.

Hi to Sister who enjoyed Cardio Core today!

3-12-14

Last night was kettlebell workout #3 + Jennifer Nicole Lee's Fusion Speed & Agility. I'm loving Zuzka in these workouts. She's showing me moves that I've never seen before + the pace is perfect. I could definitely see myself purchasing a 26# kb soon. JNL's cardio is far easier to do than the 21 day fix cardios. JNL's was a lot of jumping & it was sports oriented.

Tonight will be kettlebell workout #4 which is the end of Disc 2 + 21 Day Fix Pilates Fix.

Michelle: I know your not anxious to receive the 21 day fix workouts due to not completing STS yet. And that was nice of you to do JM Shred workout w/your boss. These kettlebell workouts are not like Zuzka's strength workouts. These so far are easy but knowing Zuzka it does climb in intensity w/each workout. Have you ever done kettlebell workouts?

Cindy: You are having a rough time w/it lately. Sending good vibes your way that you find a solution to those ovarian cysts. You definitely need to rest.

Janie: Feel better soon! <<<<HUGS>>>>

Kathy

I read more last night and was in bed a little early, I'm feeling really good today and I think this cold is heading out the door! The diet to get rid of the cysts includes a cleanse and it will help me clean up my eating - no dairy at all and little meat that must be organic if I do (that's not a problem since we buy a 1/4 buffalo every year that is organic). I have to really push the veggies and I already buy mostly organic. When it rains it pours!

Temps are getting below freezing at night so that's helping us with the water situation, we have most of the state under flood watching so hopefully there won't be moisture with the high temps that are coming this weekend. I am planning to start my last week of the P90X3 tonight, there will be some doubling up so I can get through it in half a week :)

Michelle - Great double up for the day and it's so nice to be working out with your boss!

Kathy - What do you think of kettlebell workouts? I've wanted to try them but haven't motivated myself. Great job on seeing an increase in the KB weight coming your way!

Janie - How are you feeling?

Cindy

Last night was Zuzka's kb workout #4 the last on Disc 2 + I did 21 Day Fix Pilates. Zuzka definitely has increased the intensity w/this workout. I must have done 120 one-arm swings. Some new moves which I've never seen let alone done. I worked up a good sweat. Tonight's yoga. Much needed too.

Cindy: Glad to hear that your feeling much better. I never used to like kettlebells before. I only had in my collection Art of Strength's Rainmaker dvd & I only have one kb that's 15#s. However, since doing Zuzka's kettlebell she introduces you gradually to new moves & the pace is excellent. I love these workouts. Let me tell you I worked up a good sweat w/that workout in only 15 min. The only one draw back is I need to purchase arm bands. I have a big bruise on my right arm from all the clean presses. Your doing great w/P90X3. I'm still on the fence about purchasing it. I'm praying that you'll be able to rid those cysts through diet.

Janie Sis: I'm sorry that your still sick. <<<HUGS>>> Feel better soon.

Waves to Michelle, Laura & Renee!

I felt great yesterday and did Istometrix last night and got up and did PilatesX this morning. I plan to do Agility tonight and signed up for a Pilates Equipment class tomorrow after work. This is the last one I can make it to on the schedule so I figured I better just do it :) I then plan to do Yoga tomorrow night and I'll be caught up from having Mon & Tues off!

My two big kids are going to stay with my IL's from tonight through Saturday afternoon, I hate when they're gone and I'm really going to miss them. Lucas will enjoy the spoiling with all of our attention at least!

Janie - Sorry you're still down, hope things turn around soon for you!

Kathy - I'll have to give the kettlebells a try when I feel the itch to do something new, they look like a great way to work the muscles in a new fashion. I have enjoyed P90X3 more than the original and I'll keep it in my rotation for awhile but I am ready to get back to Cathe for a bit!

STS Meso 3, week 2, disc 28, chest and back today. My lower left back is a tad sore from the workout but I'm hanging in. Supposed to do yoga this afternoon with my boss. That should help.

Janie: Okay--maybe it is time for you to go to the doctor. You do not seem to be getting better. I'm starting to worry a little bit about you. Take care.

Cindy: One kid instead of three sounds like a little break for you. I know that you will miss your older children but hopefully while you are spoiling Lucas, their grandparents will be spoiling them. If so, then the kids are winning all around. It sounds like you already eat a pretty clean, organic diet--I hope making it more so works for you with the cysts. Glad to hear that you are feeling better and back to getting your licks in.

Kathy: Two out of three of our sick-list feeling better. How are you getting bruises on your arms from the clean presses? That sounds not right to me. Everyone has yoga going today; maybe even sister but today is her break day so probably not unless she is extraordinarily inspired.

Last night was great doing Yoga Mix. Muscles needed the break & to stretch it all out. Tonight I'm resting altogether. No workout at all. I may just workout drinking some Moscato! LOL in a bath too.

Michelle: Your doing great w/STS & your almost finished too. That went by fast. Hope the yoga poses help out your back. Its very common to bruise your arms during kb training. Zuzka wears an arm guard. You have the kb in front of you a few feet, you squat & pick up the kb w/one arm & swing it up & it slams into the side of your arm. This is why people get bruises when they don't wear the guard. I'll have to purchase one. I also tend to break blood vessels in my fingers too. But that hasn't happened yet thank goodness. :)

Cindy: That will be a nice break with having only Lucas to look after. Glad your enjoying P90X3. My girlfriend is also doing the rotation. She has such a dread factor for Incinerator. She claims that one's a killer. I'm sure you enjoyed your Pilates class. Was this the pilates & wine class? Have fun w/yoga tonight. If you do decide to do kettlebells Zuzka's dvds are cheap but the kettlebells unfortunately are not. I doubt I'll purchase any more of kbs due to the cost. But it is a totally different way of working your muscles.

Janie Sis: Like Michelle I think its time you went to the doctor. Feel better soon.

Waves to Laura & Renee. Have a good weekend everyone!

TGIF!

It's been another busy week. And very trying on my usual happy go lucky attitude towards life and work. I've been working with my first graders this week for their music program. Today was dress rehearsal and they did better then what I thought. They get too talkative when they are not suppose to but they are just little kids and there's just so much to say (I guess). Any how, they will do fine Monday and I will have another one in the books. Then on the 25th I have Honors Chorus, which will make for a long day since I won't be getting home until 8 in the evening. Then it's bust my butt and make sure my 74 Orff kids are ready for their concert April 10. Then it's Spring break and I can rest from all the craziness. Busy, busy, busy but I do manage to get my workouts in. I think it is what keeps me sane.

Kettle bell workouts sound interesting but I don't like the idea of black and blues. The older I get the easier I bruise and the longer it takes for them to heal. I've got bruises just below both my knees, I can't for the life of me figure out where they came from.

Janie, please go see the doctor. It's not something I enjoy doing, but it's better then suffering and feeling bad.

I have a teacher friend who likes P90X3 a lot. Maybe she will let me borrow them later...much later in this year, so I could try it. She wasn't a big fan of the original, she likes the shorter workouts. But, honestly, tony Horton is not my favorite trainer. Don't know if I could stomach another round of him talking. Oh well.

Hope every one is doing well. Find some time to relax. Keep up the fight.

Renee

Cardio SuperSets today. Such a fun workout. Like sister, also very busy except I'm not dealing with elementary school children. The Marine Corps is keeping me very busy these days and there is no sign of any let up. I'll be happy if the current hectic pace doesn't get even more so. Fortunately, Marines are fitness nuts so they understand when I tell them that my daily schedule includes my exercise time and I don't like to miss it.

Janie: I hope that you are feeling better today. Just keep resting and let Joey take care of you. That's what DH's are for and you've got a super good one.

Kathy: thanks for explaining about the dynamics of KBs. Like sister, the bruise factor sounds like a disincentive to me, but if you like the KB workouts and don't mind the bruises, then good for you. I did JM's yoga meltdown with my boss and another coworker late yesterday. Really helped my sore back. Woke up with no soreness this morning.

Sister: I have faith in your first graders, they will rise to the occasion on Monday when it is showtime. The next couple of weeks will go by fast and then you will have spring break. If I'm lucky, I'll get my break in the fall when/if we get a new puppy.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Second week of STS squat rack is done. Made good use of those long 2+ minute breaks in between each set and really stretched my legs good. My left glute is feeling the best that it has in weeks. Very happy about that. Spring weather here today in Virginia, winter returns tomorrow. I'm still hoping not to get out my snow shovel.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday.
Michelle

A friend of mine went to the Pilates class with me yesterday and it was fun having her with me :) I can feel my glutes already today and with the pain with a few moves last night I know my abs and legs are going to be sore soon enough today. It's a beautiful 45 degrees today so I have the sliding glass door open and I'm cleaning the house, I love the crisp smell in the air and it feels good to air the house out. My IL's are bringing the kids back this afternoon so we'll get to visit for a bit too, I think they want some Lucas time :) My MIL kept the bigs busy yesterday (candy store, park, snow fort building, and the library where they went through 18 books with her) hopefully they didn't wear her out. Tomorrow I'll run errands in town and a friend is coming by in the afternoon to talk about essential oils - fingers crossed there is one that will help my bigs with focusing and Brodie with falling asleep. He has a hard time letting his mind relax and fall asleep.

For exercise I have AgilityX and YogaX to get in this weekend and Monday I'm starting my 2 week Cathe rotation that I put together. Can't wait to hit my muscles in a whole different way. This new diet has the scale going down already and I'm hoping to be to my pre-preg weight by next week, I'm so close!

Michelle - I think the biggest killer to my diet has been the sugars and carbs I love so much and I've cut all dairy out so we'll see if that helps. The dairy we do have is 90% organic but maybe none at all will be good for me - we'll see. It's nice to have people around that understand how important it is to exercise. We just hired an ex-marine and he was talking about getting some of my crew running at lunch, a few of them really need it!

Kathy - I hope you enjoyed your Moscato and a bath! Sounds so nice and relaxing :) I'll keep Zuzka in mind when I give KB's a try. The Pilates was without the wine but it was the same instructor that did the Pilates and wine with us. I really like her and enjoy that she works muscles I seem to not get to normally - it's probably just the reminder from her to isolate those muscles.

Renee - I'm sure those 1st graders are exhausting but the parents do enjoy all the work you put into giving a great performance. I think Tony is a little less annoying in the P90X3 - maybe because it's only a 1/2 hour? There is the option to just listen to cues if you get tired of the same ole jokes.

Cindy

Thank you so much for all your concerns. It was a really bad whatever I had. Symptoms were between cold and flu. Not sure what I have but things seem now to be on track of getting better. Whew! I feel when an older person like myself gets sick, it's worse to endure than a younger person. At least that's what I've experienced lately. I truly need to stay away from people who are sick and I've learned now to ask if anyone is sick before I visit with them. It's just simply too hard.

Michelle, 2nd week already of STS? Wow you are moving along like a speed demon. Good for you on squat rack. And for stretching afterwards. I'm glad your left glute is feeling better too. Yea! It's been Spring weather here as well, and if it continues will have some walks in as soon as I can.

Cindy, Great job on you and your friend doing a Pilates class. Also I'm glad to see your weather changing for the better. Sounds like everything is under control with family and had a good time shopping, visiting the park, building a for and the library. Sounds like so much fun. Aw the plan for two week rotation with Cathe is exciting. You are doing so well on your eating too. Keep up the good work.

Renee, Hey, I love the happy go lucky attitude. Sounds like the first graders are doing very well. with the dress rehearsal. Have a good time with Honors Chorus, the up coming concert in April and Spring Break. OOOO, how I love the words "Spring Break" Enjoy that rest time. I sometimes can't figure out where I get bruised either. LOL I know what you are talking about Tony Horton not being your favorite trainer.

Kathy Sis, Great job on doing Yoga Mix, it's always nice to do them when the muscles need it.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Party Rocking Step 2 today, just because I felt like I need a good step challenge and I sure did get it. After hitting 70 degrees yesterday, we are supposed to get a wintry mix and snow later today. Go figure. I have the Aviator back in the driveway and the windshield wipers on both SUVs are "up."

Janie: I'm keeping my figures crossed that you are on the mend once and for all. You are correct: as you get older, best to avoid visiting households where people are sick. Washing hands first thing after being out shopping (or anywhere that is public) is also a good practice. Really does cut down on getting sick. I hope you feel well enough this week to get a little exercise back into your daily routine.

Cindy: you know you live in Montana when you think it is okay to open the door and let the air at 45 degrees. Brrrrr. Still a little too cold for me, but I do prefer 45 to 25 degrees. I say let the grandparents go for it with their grandchildren. The kids will only be youngsters for so long and 10-20 years from now, the grandparents will be that much older as well. BTW, there is no such thing as an ex-Marine. Once a Marine; always a Marine. It is just a matter of status: active-duty, drilling reservist, or retired. There is a reserve unit in Billings, MT; used to be a reconnaissance unit but the Marine Corps changed its designation and I forget what kind of unit it is now. Going to have to check now because it will bug me until I do. Let us know what your 2 week Cathe rotation includes. I always like to see what kind of rotations others put together for themselves.

Hi to Kathy and sister.
