Getting Our Licks In!

Its hard to catch up with everyone, when I 've been so busy with December school things. Plus I have another belt graduation coming up this Friday! I will be moving on to BLUE. Wow! How did that happen so fast?

Peppy is fitting in and doing well. The big cats are accepting him into the pride. Though, Tiki is still a bit peeved that he is no longer the "baby". But even he is beginning to soften a little towards Peppy. Peppy is sleeping with me now, every night. The other cats come and go. They won't stay long yet, but I am sure that will eventually change.

I have been doing pretty good with the exercise thing. Almost skipped it this morning and put it off for the afternoon. But then I thought "are you crazy? get it done now so you don't have to deal with it after school, and enjoy the afternoon". So I did LIC cardio premix. I love that!

Its so stinkin' cold in the mid-Atlantic. If its gonna be this cold, and with the programs behind me, it could at least snow! rofl Only 3 days of school left and then 2 glorious weeks! Its the most wonderful time of the year! With the kids jingle belling....la la la laaaa!

Will catch up later. Children are coming and I gotta go teach now!

I did Lower Body Blast - timesaver premix last night. Fun!!! I absolutely loved it. It is so odd of me to do the premixes before I've done the entire workout but it was so late - I decided it should be a bit shorter. By the time I finished it was midnight. :p I have some DOMS - and my goodness - it feels great.

I went shopping last night and discovered that one of the items I was going out to pick up was completely sold out!!!!!!!:mad::mad: I was bummed. I decided to order it from the internet - and had to pay more. :p:( - but I got it now. So now I have like 3 or 4 more things to get and everything to wrap and more to decorate. Gee - I sure wish I could get my act together and get it all done!!! I did manage to finish the calendar of the girls for Rex that I do every year - so at least that is something I can check off my list.

Renee - Oh I love that Peppy is sleeping with you - How sweet!!!! Now blue belt - wow that is fast - you are really moving up there. Black belt can't be that far off!!

Janie - I did go out and it was majorly snowing - it is very very cold!!! It kept everyone out of the stores so I had them all to myself. I'm hoping that I can start wrapping this evening. Good job on the wedding video - I've always wanted it - but I have only done it once since I got it!!:eek: I'm going to have to give that another try.

Laura - sounds like you are really enjoying the holidays - and I think you have to give in to that and just go with the flow. It makes it nice for your girls and for you to spend some quality time!!!

Elle - so sorry you've been sick. At least you will have some wonderful time off - oh my goodness - I would so love that. As it is I get the Friday before Christmas off and nothing else.

I'm cold right now - brrrrrr!!! I need a heater in here!!

I was here yesterday--typed in my post and also hit the wrong key and whoops--it was gone. I'm still feeling DOMs from STS total body which I did on Sunday. Yesterday, I did 4DS LIS, ab work and cool down. Felt pretty good AFTER it was over. Today was a weight day and I'm going to do Slow and Heavy the rest of this week because my legs are still screaming from STS total body. So today was S&H chest and back. Tomorrow is a cardio day--what to do, what to do. I guess I'll figure that out on the drive home tonight.

Sister is correct. It is just too dang cold here in Virginia. Ripken and I are taking shorter walks until this cold snap breaks. He seems to understand--at least he seemed to get the message this morning. We'll see how he reacts tomorrow morning. We did have our first snow yesterday morning--just the way I like it--a good dusting but the sidewalks and streets were not slick. Very pretty for about 2 hours and then the wind blew it all away.

Shoegal: whew-wee you sure are busy. Don't forget to stop and bask in the glow of all that decorating--okay? I'm sure it's beautiful but I worry that you are working so hard that you miss enjoying what you have created.

Elle: glad you are feeling better. Gosh, if it's single digit wind-chill here in Va, what must it be like in Canada. I just can't imagine. Hope you are staying toasty warm.

Laura: sounds like you had a wonderful weekend with your girls. How did the violin recital go? If I remember correctly, your girls have been playing the violin for a while, so they be getting pretty good. Violin is one of my favorite instruments.

Janie: boy--you guys are really getting slammed with the rain out there. It's just crazy, isn't it. I hope you all are on high ground and don't have to worry about flooding.

Hi to Shadowpup--wherever you are.
~michelle

Did premix 4 blasts from Low Impact Circuit. A headband wringer. LOL:D It was great.

Renee, A blue belt next Friday, congratulations! So glad to hear Peppy is fitting in. Great job on the premix LIC cardio. I did that one today too. Headband winged out sweat. It was great! LOL:D you are to cute, La La La Laaaa to you as well.

Shoegal, Great job LBB. Love your determination! Christmas for you is coming together, and I bet everything will turn out just peachy. ;) How nice to shop without a crowd. Stay warm.

Michelle, I know how frustrating it is to lose a post.:( I think I'll do STS TB Saturday, you make it sound irresistible. Great job on 4DS LIS ab work and cool down yesterday and the S&H chest and back. We are on high ground, the only thing that get flooded, is the animals enclousure. But just for a short time, until the rains subside. We are so lucky compared to others.

See you all tomorrow,

Janie

SNOW DAY IN central Virginia! Yeah, I know, we will be out for 2 weeks, but getting out a day (or two) early just makes it a little more special. And to celebrate this day, I did all of BodyMax 2. The cardio is so much fun, but by the time you get to the end of it and start the upper body weights, my energy fizzles...BUT! I did it, all of it. Yippee!

I wonder if belt graduation will take place tomorrow. I have my doubts, but it has been rescheduled (tentatively) for Tuesday.

My cats are loving the extra human time. Tiki was a big help while I exercised. That seems to be our time. Peppy doesn't like all that activity and makes himself invisibile. Tiki on the other hand, has always hung out with me during exercise, so we get to "bond" more without the little interloper. LOL

I have yet to wrap presents, maybe I'll consider that task for later. Hmm?

Stay warm and dry everybody!

~Renee

From the Basic Step and Body Fusion DVD, Joey and I did all of the add on's. Upper, Lower body and Stability Abs. We used heavier weight.

Hmmmm, I really thought I posted yesterday.

Renee, It's going to be so nice to get that extra time off. Have Fun! Great job on BM2. Way to Go! Congratulations for earning another colored belt. Awesome! Can't wait to hear about it on Tuesday. Higgin, one of our cats will not go into our theater unless it's off. She just refuses. Our other cat (Whinkle) is a lot like Tiki, when we are in there exercising, he likes to be spinned. We call it spin the Kittie, and spin him (while he gets into position on his side) and spin him around and around. He loves it.

Have a nice day everyone,

Janie

Hello Everyone - checkin in to wish you all a grand weekend!!

When I get home I have all this enthusiasm for decorating and I get right to it. Still have more to go but things are coming together!!! I have wrapped maybe a total of 6 presents and and have a wee bit more shopping to go but I consider myself way ahead where I was at this time last year so its a good thing. :D

Exercise has taken a back seat to all this, unfortunately. On Tuesday I did a premix from Intensity - there was HITT and Boot Camp I believe. I loved it - it was super fun - I really enjoyed myself. On Wednesday I drove to Portersville to pick up a present for Rex right after work - then came home and started to decorate. I was at it till Midnight then I collasped into bed. Yesterday I began decorating - and Rex arrived home from out of town. We sat and talked for awhile catching up and then went out for dinner. We got home late and immediately went to bed.

Rex's birthday is coming up soon too - Tuesday of next week!!! And one week to go before Christmas. Anybody excited????

I intend to shop this evening - and hopefully pull the rest of the house together. I will wrap all of Saturday and I'm rounding the corner to the finish line!!! Hope you all have a really great day.

Hi everyone. I keep managing not to get here to post, but I have kept up with my exercise. Wednesday I did 4DS HIS cardio only, yesterday was S&H triceps and biceps, and today I'm going to do Cardio Fusion all step premix. Gosh--haven't done that one in a while--ought to be fun.

Like sister, I was home yesterday. I didn't take a day off, just worked at home. Also working at home today--but Friday is my normal telecommute day. I'm working on revising a paper--want to get it done by Monday--should be able to do that. Also need to do a little Christmas shopping and then I'll be done with it. I have a list and a plan of attack--so, the items on my list are sold out, I'll be good to go.

Janie: I like doing those add-ons from time-to-time on the BS/BF. They are good workouts for when we are on the boat. When will you be starting your holiday travels? Soon or not until sometime next week?

Shoegal: you know that old adage: slow and steady wins the race and you have definitely been steady at the decorating and Christmas shopping. Don't forget the pups! How many do you have right now? Any foster pups?

Ripken gave me an early Christmas present because he felt I needed it for our walkabout in the snow. He gave me a pair of boot attachments that give you extra traction so I don't slip in the snow--kind of like snow chains for your boots. They worked really well yesterday and this morning. Most of my neighbors shoveled their sidewalks and the sun is shining and melting the residual snow on the sidewalks, so I probably won't need them on my mucklucks when we walk later today. We only got about 1 1/2 to 2 inches of snow. So the neighborhood kids could do a little sledding and play, but the removal process was a light job. We lucked out and had some neighbor boys knock on the door and offer to shovel early last night. We were happy to pay them to do it. Love motivated kids. I hope they come back the next time it snows, which could be this Sunday. The weatherman is doing the mid-Atlantic snow dance--a coastal storm is expected to form by Sunday, so depending on how close to the coast it tracks, we could get alot of snow or not so much. I'm hoping for not so much.

Otherwise, it is quiet and happy in Ripken's world. I think right now the pup is concentrating on the the inside of his eyelids.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Kick, Punch, Crunch for me today! So much fun. Even though I don't agree with Cathe on what she calls a round house kick, its close enough to qualify for all intents and purposes.

Had another day off from school, and now will be off until the new year. Hip hip hooray. Belt graduation is definately postponed to Tuesday of next week. A plow finally came thru the neighborhood. Life is good, and slow and uneventful. Ahhhhhhhhh.

Everybody enjoy their weekend, because next weekend is the BIG one!

~Renee

Hi!

So my Christmas trend so far this year has been to exercise heavily Sunday- Wednesday & then I don't get around to it again to the following week! Oh well! Got to go with the flow!

Funny thing - I have a box of new dog toys that are ready to go out as gifts to all of our doggie relatives. There are also some in there for Dot & Scout. Someone has been sneaking in that box and taking out the new toys. I find a tag here - and then a snow covered one out in the yard - sopping wet!!! Yesterday Dot came to bed with a toy in her mouth - it was a brand new one!!! I have to hide the box now. Those girls are peekers - just like their mother!:p;)

Shoegal, that is so funny! What clever dogs you have. LOL! I put the cats presents way out of reach, on the top shelf of my closet. Never have had a problem. And shame on you, a PEEKER!?! That ruins the surprise. LOL I loved this post Shoegal, thanks!
~renee

Joey went for his dermatology appointment and I did STS Total Body. Wow, that is a great workout. Oh, by the way, on the Christmas cards, I spelled cozy wrong. Sorry, You are either a great speller or not one at all. I'm the latter.

Shoegal, You have a really nice weekend too. Yeah, being ahead with Christmas is awesome, congratulations.;) It's a very busy time for normalcy, just know you can catch up on the exercises after Christmas and after the New Year. During Christmas I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and just plain having fun with everyone. Had to laugh about your animals taking the pet Christmas gifts. That is so funny! I'm still giggling.:D

Michelle, Great job on keeping up with the exercises. Not easy during this time of year. Great job with 4DS HIS cardio only, S&H Triceps & biceps and todays, Cardio Fusion Premix. Whew! You have been a very good girl. Sounds like you are making big headway through the weekend in getting a lot of things done. Good planning. On Christmas day Joey and I will travel north about 90 miles to join our kids at one of their houses, to celebrate Christmas with everyone. Then, that night will go back home. I'll drive, Joey will sleep. I have some boot attachments, but never tried them. Next time it snows here, will have to use them. Sounds like the neighbors kids are having a good time in the small amount of snow so far. That's good.;) I love that kids motivate themselves in that way. They certainly stay out of trouble and make money at the same time. Those are really smart kids. Stay warm and cozy during the snow and stay safe.

Renee, Great job on KC&P. Enjoy your time off with the slow and uneventful time.

Laura
, Very proud of you doing your exercises. Sounds like a really good plan during this time of year. Your right, go with the flow.

Take care everyone, and have a nice evening.

Hi everyone! I am working from home for awhile again, and want to get back into the habit of regular posts! This one is just to kind of prime the pump, and let you know I still exist :)

Will be home for perhaps three weeks: working next week and half of the one following, and taking my vacation the first week in January. Christmas shopping is done, thank goodness.

Janie, thanks for the card. Very nice surprise to find it when I returned home last night!

Rest day for the next couple of days.

Deborah, Wishing you well sweetie. We miss you. Got your beautiful card. Love seeing your animals and your place. Had to revise this above because I wrote this in the Lurkers Forum. I'm getting senile. Scary!

Glad to see you will be with us for a little while. Can't wait to hear about your animals, home life, work life... My Christmas shopping is done too. Yeah.

Janie

Happy Sunday everyone. Well, this is the big countdown week for all the kids, young and old. Yesterday was a stretch day. I did stretches 1 and 2 from Stretch Max and today I did Lower Body Blast. That sure is a fun workout, but I have to say that I was not loving the static lunges at the very end of the standing leg work. The workout is alot like the lower body workout that we did with Cathe on Sunday morning of the Roadtrip. And I'm highly recommedning the Cardio Fusion All Step premix. That is a great step workout--majorly fun.

Janie: got your Christmas card. My DH was a little confused as to who it was from and saw was I until I saw the return address and then I knew exactly who it was from. Yes--you really should try to boot attachments if you have them. Looks like you guys are getting alot of rain again. Maybe you will need to invest in hip-waders before this winter is over. Geesh!

Laura: It's better to get in 4 out of 7 days of exercise than nothing at all. Plus, it probably helps your knee to have a few days break. How is it doing by the way? And I'm guessing that you are getting some skiing in on your non-exercise days, so you are still staying active.

Shoegal: love the puppy story. That is so funny that Dot and Scout are bringing out one toy at a time. Pretty smart on their part. They were obviously hoping you wouldn't catch on--LOL! Ripken is pretty good with the presents. I wrap them up and put them under the tree and he might give a gift a sniff, but then he waits until it is time to open them.

Shadowpup: welcome back--we sure have missed you.

Speaking of Ripken. He seemed to like the Lower Body Blast workout too. He stuck right next to me so I could pet him on the head while doing lunges, and the plate exercises. And of course, floor work is his favorite because he can get right up next to me. I have to admit, it's nice to focus on petting him while I'm doing some of Cathe's killer leg work exercises--it's a nice diversion from the pain.

Elle: I think that you are on vacation right now. Are you doing anything special?

Hope everyone enjoy this week before Christmas.

~michelle

Baked 4 loaves of bread in the last two days.

Very quite here, lets drum some stuff up.

Rolly is doing very well, Joey is doing very well, so am I.

Lets see, been watching "24" Series and Joey and I find it intense. We are on the 3rd season.

I think I'll finish up with the bread and take Rolly out for a walk.

See yas,

Janie

I am glad I sneaked in that short post the other day! Been busy, busy, busy around here mostly with social things. Friday the girls and I had our hair-done and it looks great! The girls stayed at my mom's and Bo and I had a date night. We were going to go out to a band at the local joint but decided to stay home. Saturday I ran to Boulder and picked up the girls and began cleaning the house until I went to a girlfriends for dinner and Bo took the girls to new Harry Potter movie at our community theater. Today my mom took us to the Denver Ballet's Nutcracker Production, which was fantastic. We went out to dinner at the Denver Chop House and stopped by for the girls to visit Santa at the mall....

so still no exercise! tomorrow I have to finish cleaning the house and then I teach my two classes. Tuesday we are going to ski as a family with another family from the girls school. Wednesday I have a couple of clients in Boulder and I have to finish my shopping!

Merry Christmas Everyone! And good job keeping up with the exercise it keeps me motivated

Good morning! Hope you're all having one terrific day :D

It's a little surprising how hard it can be to re-establish even good/fun habits, isn't it? Somewhere my habit of regular posting online disappeared, but it is sure fun to be back again. Missed our group, that's for sure!

Quickie post this morning, since it's a work day - just wanted to say that the weekend workouts went very well. I've been super careful of my back, but this does not mean taking it easy. Went from mainly slow movements and flexibility, to doing a little body weight work, and then picking up vastly modified versions of regular workouts on the weekend. STS total body is great for that. The TriSet-higher rep format is easy to modify: I can skip part of the triset, put the dvd on hold for a longer rest, or do fewer reps. Also, with the timesavers, I can cut way back on the length (30 minutes in a row is still my very max endurance level). Having the printout of what my weight 'should' be gives me a useful target. That said, I was very proud that I'd worked myself up to doing squats at 157 pounds again ... just a few reps ... well, considering I hit 170 last summer that may not sound great, but then, considering that 60 pounds felt like a risk in late November, I've come a long way towards recovery. My goal is to end up in better shape than before the fall, which I think is possible, since more flexibility work has crept in.

Whew! Longer than I'd planned to sit here - best go get the workday started. Take care, all!

Good Morning my Fitness Friends!

I have a quite minute this morning so I thought I would pop in to say hi. I am teaching my 2 classes later today and I am excited for them as I haven't worked out in a few days and been eating rich food and drinking to much good wine!

Shadowpup: It is really nice to have you back! We miss you when you are gone! Great job on slowly and carefully recovering! I was wondering if you could remind me of those books/DVD's you had on flexibility that you mentioned some while ago. I am beginning to notice that the more I work out the tighter I become and that I need to spend more time just maintaining the flexibility that I do have. Thanks! Are you having a mild winter in Idaho? We are here in Colorado.

Janey: yummmm! More bread! I bet your house smells delicious! I never got around to PM'ing you my address! I am glad Joey is doing well and that you are taking such good care of him.

Michelle: thanks for asking about my knees. I still have bursitis on the right knee and it still looks slightly swollen. However other than being a little 'creakier' than I am used to and more tender after High Impact work they are ok. I haven't actually skied yet this year and since I am a Telemark skier I am concerned about how my knees will handle that, which is one of the reasons I haven't made it out yet. We are supposed to go tomorrow as a family so I will let you know how it goes. Maybe you are right that it is good I am being forced to take 4 out of 7 days right now to keep babying them for awhile longer!;)

Catchick: sounds like you are enjoying a well deserved break after all your performances! Enjoy your new kitty! How did the green belt go?

Shoegal: your pups sure are smart! I loved the post of them being peekers!! Are you all ready for Christmas now!

ElleP: I sure hope you are feeling better and can join us again! I miss hearing from you!
