Getting Our Licks In!

Did an upper ball exercise with Joey. Thought I would try a different instructor using the big balls. He doesn't like anything but TBS. Will have to think of something to do differently next time. He seems to not be able to get out of this rut. Well, maybe for me it's a rut. I love variety, I get bored so easily.:(

Laura, What is the name of your cleanse? I'm glad that it's so far working for you. Do enjoy the hot springs, it sounds so enjoyable in the caves. Great job on teaching your class. We are walking around the driveway because of puddles. The big dogs are smart and aren't out in this very wet climate of ours lately. Rain, Rain, Rain.

Elle, Great job with Shiva's yoga.

Michelle, Great job on STS program. You are doing beautifully. Would love to see a pic of Ripken and his new hair style. I bet he's adorable.

Shoegal, Great job on your exercises. The circuit blast will grow on ya. I'm glad that you finished it. Are you doing cardio in between your weight workouts?

Janie

Yesterday I did a premix from Lo Impact Circuit - called Total Body Sculpt - liked that a lot and it was fun - but difficult. DH and I went out to eat afterwards and I was very good on the eating. We came home and the entire family (girls and all) snuggled up to watch some tv except that I fell asleep instantly  and when I woke up everyone else was asleep. :p:rolleyes:

Laura - this cleanse sounds like it is doing great things for you - How did you learn about it? I think I'm going to look this up and give it a try. I have to admit that it sounds difficult but you seem to be doing quite well.

Janie - I have been trying to do workouts right now that have cardio & weights mixed in together - so more circuit training & boot camp type things - except that I haven't done boot camp at all - maybe tonight!! Right now I'm on such a strength training kick - well - I don't want to waste a whole day on nothing but cardio!!!

Hope everyone has a great day - hello to everyone!!:)

I got home really late last night so it was an unplanned rest day.:(

Janie: That's so funny that Joey is stuck on "TBS". It's better than doing nothing though!;) Is he like that with other things besides his exercise?

Shoegal: I have done the Total Body Sculpt premix. It is a lot of fun! LIC is one of my favourite Cathe workouts.

Laura: Your cleanse sounds a lot like a yogic fast. I'm all for getting people off of caffeine so great job on going "cold turkey". Enjoy the Hot Springs!
I only recently got into Shiva Rea a few months ago. I like her because her yoga is different from the style i practice but it is also very challenging. She inspires me and i don't feel i will outgrow her DVD's. There is a cool yoga matrix on a lot of her DVD's where you can mix and match different segments and she also has premixed selections as well. I find it has been a nice complement to my own yoga practice. Check out the clips on Collage.

Hi Shadowpup, Michelle & Renee!:)

Did a Firm workout today with Joey, then we did one of All Abs and a Stretch by Cathe. Glad it wasn't TBS.:) Used treadmill for 30 min tonight.

Shoegal, Glad you were good on the eating. Takes will power for sure. Great job also on Total Body Sculpting.

Elle, You are right, I'd rather to an exercise with him, than none at all. He's my buddy.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Janie

I never got back the other day, just crazy busy. I can't remember the last workout that I posted. I think it was week 3 of squat rack legs. Since then, it was Step Moves, STS disc 32, shoulders, biceps, and triceps, and then today was the cardio saver from Body Max 2. That's a great workout, but it has been a while since I have done Body Max 2 so I stumbled through it a little. I found that if I really listened to Cathe's cues, I did okay. We just got down to the boat about an hour ago. We are having another bonus weekend: clear blue skies, sunshine, and temps in the 60s. I could take this weather right through March, but it won't last.

Laura: Ripken will be very happy to hear that Misty is "getting her licks in." I've always believed that it is important to socialize pups with other dogs. We did that with Ripken and for the most part, he gets along with all other dogs. The only exceptions are other male dogs who are intact and he doesn't know or dogs who are not friendly toward him. Right now, he is curled up in front of the salon door here on the boat getting a nap in. Your cleansing week sounds interesting. Do you find that your blood sugar level drops dramatically? I have to watch that if I go too long without eating much. And it sounds like you are not eating too much this week. You picked a good week though--right before thanksgiving.

Janie: I know that your Joey loves TBS. I would be thrilled if my Joe got stuck on one workout and wanted to do it every day. Since he has kicked the smoking habit, I suggest about once a week that he might want to start some very light exercise like riding his stationary bike or walking around our Circle that we live on. No actual exercise but he at least seems open to the suggestions. Count your blessings with your Joey when you do TBS together.

Shoegal: MIS is hard. That's a workout that I have to be super energized to take on. And I think that I have not yet done SC: Circuit Blast yet. Will have to put that one on my "to do" list in December after I finish STS next week.

Elle: I am not crazy about mango either. Everyone raves about mango--but I just don't get it. I have not been doing my Shiva Rea dvd as much of late, but I have an active recovery week coming up, so maybe I will include her in the rotation that week. I believe Laura was asking about Shiva Rea--and I have to say, I have been happy with her Beginner's Flow dvd that you recommended to me.

Sister has been at a musci teachers' conference the past couple of days--which is why we have not heard from her. I think she will be home later today--She was hoping that when she got home her new Cathe dvds would be there, but I think we will not see those delivered until some time next week.

Hi to Shadowpup-hope we hear from you soon.
Michelle

Greetings!

What a busy week, and then it was a few days away at the Virginia Music Educators conference in Norfolk. I wasn't all that crazy about going, but it gives me recertification points, and its just nice to get away from the kids for a while. Surprisingly I had a lovely time, discovered some new resources and ideas, re-connected with teachers I used to work with. So, all in all, it was better then I expected.

Last Friday, I do go out with friends, get pizza and beer (Lion's Head Lager) and bowled, (just one game). Everything was great. Good times and I actually didn't over indulge. Enjoyed the beer, pizza and friends but didn't do anything "stupid".

This has been my recovery week. I took Tuesday and yesterday off completely. I did lots of easy step cardio and stretches. While I was at conference, I used the hotels "gym" and walked/ran the treadmill for 32 minutes. Worked up a fairly good sweat. Then I spent a good 10-15 minutes just stretching. I feel like I could benefit from some more of that...stretching.

I plan on doing some lifting, perhaps mixing in a bit of circuit workouts until those new dvd's arrive. Only have one karate class this week due to the holiday. That's okay, I can always practice at home. I did Rhythmic Step this afternoon. Its been a while since I did that, I really had a "good ol time" doing it.

Hope everyone is doing well.

~Renee

Rolly and I walked on a trail today in snow. It's so beautiful. I got to pet the two dogs I'm friendly with and gave them treats. Why didn't I do this years ago?:(

Michelle, Even though you are busy, I'm so proud of you for keeping up the exercises. Well done too. Don't get sunburned OK? LOL 60 degrees. It's snowing here, small flakes and it's sticking. Don't know if it will last or not. It is beautify though.

I know your right, I am very grateful that he exercises. No matter what. Just, you know, variety is nice sometimes. I'll get what I can get out of him. Love him so. And I will count my blessings.

Renee, It does sound like you had a very busy and successful week. Your plan for exercising also sounds like a good one. Love those circuits.

Take care everyone and be safe,

Janie

Thought I would check-in to see what folks have been up to this weekend. Everyone must be super busy because we are a little quiet. Today was my rest day but I'm not sure I got much of a rest. We packed up the boat, loaded up the Expedition with coolers, boxes, and bags, and rolled home. Then we unloaded the coolers (put away the food) and the bags with clothes and a few boxes. I did one load of laundry and that is it for today.

What is left in the back of Joe's SUV can come in little by little during the week and be washed/dried and stored away for the winter. Joe didn't sleep too good last night and all the activity today has his wiped out. Ripken didn't get much in the way of nap time today so he is a pretty pooped out pup too. I'm still hanging in for a few more hours but I am sure that I will sleep good tonight.

Tomorrow starts my last week of STS. I'm kind of excited about this being the last week. My new Cathe workouts should be here by Wednesday/Friday at the latest. I can preview them during my rest week and then work them into my December rotation.

Joe is planning on filling the hot tub tomorrow--YEAH! We cleaned it out at the beginning of summer and then cleaned it again a few weeks ago. It might need a quick wipe down before he fills it--but it should be good to go for the winter season.

Hope everyone is doing well. Nice to have sister back.

I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning -and I find I can't wait - I want my new workouts NOW!!! I'm all excited this morning. I wasn't really counting on them but now that everyone is talking about it - I'm in a tizzy! Ok - need to take a deep breath and calm the hell down. Some lucky people got their downloads and are giving these workouts good reviews. I am hoping against hope to get my workouts tomorrow - I know that is a pipe dream but I can hope can't I?

I also saw HARRY POTTER on Friday - I was all excited about that too!!!! Now that I saw it - I would actually like to see it again. I thought it was sooo good and was a rather faithful depiction of the first half of the book - but DH was rather lukewarm about it. Not a true Potter fan, that one. I don't proclaim undying loyalty no matter what the product - but this was good!

So - Rex and I went to Brockway, PA to pick up a surrender - some poor family is having to give up 3 of their dogs because of financial difficulties. They used to be successful breeders but have fallen on hard times. The little girl we picked up was a 2yr old female - her name was Athena. Beautiful girl - so lovely and unfortunately, so very thin!! Rex and I took her home, fed her (she ate it in a flash), bathed her (she smelled and we could feel the dirt on her coat) and trimmed her nails. I thought she might be an aggressive dog because she had been described as an alpha female but she seemed fine. She was picked up from our house and taken to West Virginia to a new home. Hopefully, she'll be happy there. We also did a home visit for a potential adopter in Hermitage - so it was a busy GSP weekend.

I will be doing The Firm Volume One on Tuesday as a tribute to Anna Benson - a bunch of exercisers on VF organized this so I thought I'd join in. Today -I'm not sure what I'll do - but would sure like to do a new Cathe!!!

Hello to everybody - hope everyone checks in soon!!

Did nothing yet today, most likely cardios until Thanksgiving is over, then start fresh again. We need the week off from weight lifting anyway.

It's snowing: Here is a picture right outside off the deck.

Michelle, It's like moving getting everything back home. I know the feeling, tough work. One last week on STS , YEAH! Then the new workouts, YEAH! My Joey has turned on the hot tub so we can sit in it while it is snowing. I just love that! Enjoy yours, you deserve a nice relaxing break.:)

Shoegal, I think I sometimes talk to much. Anyhoo, I'm really excited about the new workouts coming too. Mine was shipped out today. WooHoo! I do hope you get yours tomorrow, dream or not.

We have Harry Potter on our Netflix list. Thank you for the review, I'll look forward to it.

I love how much you care of orphaned dogs. It just warms my heart knowing that there are people out there like yourselves, making such a difference in their lives. WoW.

I love Susan Harris, Vol. 1 is such a great workout. Enjoy, you will have DOMs.

Take care everyone,

Janie

Hi Everyone!

How did it get to be Monday already?/:eek:;) So I had a great week with the cleanse and other than my classes I did not do any exercise. I found out about the cleanse on FB, and it was great! I want to use FB for more things like this! It was pretty intense and I did modify it slightly to meet my needs.. I was so surprised that I did not have blood sugar issues, which I normally do, and I am still thinking about why that might be, especially as it was mostly just fruit in the middle of the diet. I think that maybe I don't tolerate wheat that well and I am thinking about limiting it after the holidays.

Yesterday I did the all upper body mix from Cross TrainXpress, which I like since it is new to me I find I get some good DOMS. And one of the ab sections..I did find my strength diminished, especially with the pushups which I could barely do.

Tonight is Pilates and Ski Conditioning and then we leave for AZ on Tuesday...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

Oh and I am so excited for the New DVD's but doubt I will get them until I get back! Anyone making a rotation with them that we could do together!?! I bet Cathe will have something for December!

So I couldn't help myself, and although I already had DOMS from yesterday's Cathe upper body workout, I popped in High Reps after my two classed & did the Shoulders, Biceps, & Triceps. I would have done more but the Rec Center was closing so I had to stop. I am so excited to have two more full body routines as that is what will work best for me with my current class schedule, which has been seriously cramping my Cathe workouts! And a new leg routine plus a very versatile cardio DVD!! Now I can hardly wait to be back from our trip to AZ to do them all!!!)

Just a quick check-in: I have been alternating yoga with the treadmill these days. I've been doing an hour on the treadmill and i find the time goes by quickly since i just pop in a DVD and zone out while i watch TV. I like not having to think....just keep going until it stops, which is about three episodes of The Golden Girls.:p My mom has all kinds of DVD's and i borrowed The Golden Girls from her. I'm on season 2 so it's going to take a lot of hours on the treadmill to get through all those seasons.

Well - I posted and then lost it all!!! Oh well. Here i go again!

Laura - I am so jealous - I wouldn't have been able to help myself either and would have popped that new workout in as soon as I got it. Perhaps today - oh I can't wait!!! I am glad your cleanse worked out so well and that you suffered no ill effects. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving too!! Have fun on your trip. So did you enjoy High Reps??? Need a review!!

Elle - well, I love the Golden Girls - great show - I would think the time would fly by watching those shows while using the treadmill. I think my Mom has a season or 2 as well!! Isn't the treadmill loud?? I always had trouble using mine with the tv - it was drown out the sound for sure!

Janie - glad you are having fun with the dogs!!! Now going out seems like it is a entirely new experience for you. So happy that worked out. I love helping out these dogs - Rex & I are hoping to get a new foster soon. I loved the picture of the snow outside your door - beautiful!!!

Michelle - You seem to be finishing up STS in a knick of time!!! I hope your workouts come soon too. It is like Christmas coming early - don't you think?? You seem to squeeze out every last drop from the boating season - which is nice since it shows how much everyone loves it!! So making a turkey - or something else?

Last night - I did the Firm's Cardio Step Mix (VHS) to see what the big deal was. This is a very old workout but everybody seems to want it. I think I may have done it once before. I have to tell you that it was quite enjoyable -they are very simple step routines compiled from all of these other old Firm workouts so I knew them all so it was like visiting old friends - and the music was also very good. Tonight the Firm Volume 1!!!! Who couldn't love Susan Harris?

Hope you all have a great day.

It's 20 degrees outside and sunny! It was colder than that last night, around 15 or 18 degress. Here is an updated picture on the deck. The snow got denser, because it was deeper before I went to bed. Will be out in it very soon and will take another picture of the snowman I will be building and Rolly's new jacket. LOL:eek:

393580737.jpg

This snow is very unusual for us. The norm is it will snow and melt as soon as it hits the ground. Sometimes it will stick and have one fun day in it, then it's over. In the last couple of years we've had snow here and according to the measurement of our table on the deck it was actually 26 inches two years ago.

Elle, Great job on yoga and the treadmill. An hour on the treadmill is some accomplishment. Well done. Aw, I use to watch the Golden Girls all the time. They are so funny.:D

Shoegal, I get so frustrated when my posts get lost!:( Wonder why it happens? Great job on Cardio Step Mix. You have a VHS player? Wow. I love The Firm, most of them are great. Say hi to Susan for me.:D Anna Benton is in my mind and prayers.

Laura, Keep us updated on those wonder new DVD's! I'm so excited too.

Have a great day everyone.

Janie

On the road! Finally! Of course it took us longer than we thought to get it together. Misty is snuggled between the girls in the backseat. We decided to rent a car because I just put $400 worth of snow tires on my car & driving it 790 miles would pretty much destroy the studs!

I didn't get a full experience the High Reps but I did like what I did and I certainly felt it. I had to play around to get the weight right.

Elle: yep that is how I have to get through the elliptical as well, although I am really loving Cardio Coach. It might be a nice X-mas gift for you.

Shoegal: I have never done any firm workouts pretty much all Cathe for me. A few body bar workouts, and P90x although I would like to get Insanity & the TRX system one day

Janie: it does seem unusual for you to have snow so early in the year... Good thing Rolly has his warm sweater! Snuggle up & enjoy the beauty of the snow.

Hi all, I am at home this week! Have a few minutes before I'm due on the phone again, but I wanted to share that my dvds came too! I see Laura has hers also. They arrived yesterday. Thank goodness it's safe now to do some workouts with care, for up to 30 min. I started that mid last week and if I stick with 40-50 1RM and put in plenty of breaks, half an hour is doable.

Celebrating that with new Cathe dvds seems just perfect :)

Last night I did the lower body part of High reps, and this afternoon I will do the upper body part of STS Total Body.

While it seems strange to feel weak as a kitten, it's so nice to be doing real workouts again that it's just fine with me. And kitten-weak seems to be rough equivalent to lifting I was two years ago (just not for as long), so really, can't complain!

More later, looking forward to reading your posts, and hope everyone here is well and looking at a great Thanksgiving week :D:D:D
