Getting Our Licks In!

So I have been MIA because we still don't have internet at the house which makes checking in near impossible. I did get a chance to read a few posts the other day but ran out of time...so not going to go back and catch up but just jump in with two feet and post!!! Hopefully we can figure it out soon!:(

So day before yesterday I got Crosstrain Xpress and Body Max! Yippee!! So I did step & intervals from Xrpess cardio only plus abs and stretch. AND I LOVED IT!!! I found it fairly easy to pick up which was nice for me for step! Today I did the final STS disc for S,B, & T's but kind of struggled through some of the weighs, I definitely lost some strength from my vaca. Got another week and a a half of STS and I am done!!

I also took a nice easy walk with a good friend today for about an hour and burnt about 405 cals.

Hope everyone is well, and I will go back and try to catch up some...I did read about kitty's going to vets, and new puppies getting some potential new families and barefoot stepping, beach trips and power walks so I am sure I have missed a lot more! Missed ya'll!!

Walked Rolly 45 min. and did Step Heat. Burned 400 calories. Not bad, and I ate really well today.

Renee, I think hitting something like the bag really ups the workout. I was sweating from head to toe, and it was only 20 min. long. Had a ball. Great job on the kickBox. Karate kinks, I didn't know that you could have them. Still, one of these days, I want to learn Karate.

Michelle, Great job on HIIT 30/30 and STS ab circuits pilate abs.

Shoegal, Sending you energy over cyberspace!LOL:D Sounds like Qi Gong is just the thing for you. I would do it all the time if it worked like that for me.

I know it will be hard to give Gunner his forever home. (((((hugs to you.)))))

I've tried to read Sherlock Holmes, but the style for me is hard. I couldn't get through it, maybe another time I'll try.:(

Laura, Hopefully you'll figure out what is wrong and why it's so difficult to get on line. I sure miss hearing from you.

Great job on Xpress Cardio. Also great job on STS S,B&T. You are so close to finishing. Go, Go, Go! Isn't it wonderful to burn 405 calories like that? Good for you!

Janie

I'm very frustrated by this back pain - it is plaguing me even in the evenings which is unusual for me. Mornings are especially hard to take but after I get going it seems to ease up. So I was on the fence about working out because it was giving me trouble but I felt so guilty. I ended up doing Kari Anderson's Tone it up. A 40 minute workout that uses the band for strength training. I was happy I got that in.

Thank God for the weekend!!!

Laura - good to hear from you - wow - ending STS - that must feel good. Any idea what you are going to do next??? It is too exciting to get new workouts - I know - enjoy CrossTrain Xpress and Body Max. I'd love to hear what you think of that.

Janie - you sure are getting those walks in and I bet Rolly is in heaven. Good job on Step Heat too! I wonder if I have that one?

Hello to everyone - hope you have a great weekend.

Good morning all! Got back in at midnight, and am beginning to get things sorted out here at home :) I'll post more later ... just wanted to check and see how everyone is doing! Looks like by and large we're in good shape this week :D

Very nice walkabout with Ripken this morning. The air was feeling good--not sure what it is like out there now. Then afterwords, I did STS disc 5, back and triceps. I didn't redo my 1RMs, so I'm just using my STS spreadsheets from the first time and upping my weight amounts by 1/2 to 2 pounds for each exercise depending on the exercise. It's funny, I still feel my right elbow talking to me with the weight work for the back.

Very busy at work. It's nice to get a break and go through what everyone has posted.

Shadowpup: Welcome Back!

Laura: I forgot about your internet problem. I like Cross Train Express too--I really like the music on the All Step workout.

Shoegal: sorry to hear that your back is nagging at you. Mine has been feeling a little tight first thing in the morning but then it seems to loosen up once I get through the warm-up for my morning workout. I'm hoping the yoga will help with time. If you have a back stretching workout that helps you that is great.

Janie: you have a heavy bag too? Huh. I'm not big into hitting things generally, so I'm having a hard time ever seeing me with a heavy bag. I guess I might have to give sister's a try when I go over to the homestead next time (which will be Christmas).

Looking forward to the weekend.
Have a good evening everyone!

Did Forza today with Ilaria Montagnani. Really hit the arms big time. Also walked Rolly 45 min. Only burned 344 calories today. Will take a weekend rest, except walking Rolly and will start on STS with my Joey Mon.

Shoegal
, It's time for you to see a doctor about your back. Try stretching with one of Cathe's DVD's very carefully, but if it doesn't work, no use putting it off, see a doctor.

Deborah, So nice to hear from you. See you soon with another adventure? Love reading about them.

Michelle, Daily walks are great, aren't they? I love it. Great job on back and triceps. I do the same thing on my spreadsheet as well. I don't want to retest, too lazy I guess. Seems to work though. A bag makes all the difference in the world. Wait and see when you do it at Christmas.

Have a good one everyone,

Janie

Must be the weekend--everyone is MIA. Guess that means everyone is either very busy or just chilling out. Either one is good.

We are back in the humidity here, but we had a nice breeze blowing today at the boat. Ripken and I had 3 really nice walkabouts. Did Shiva Rea's beginner yoga dvd again--all the way through. Getting the breathing right takes alot of concentration but I am enjoying it. DH and I also spend a couple of hours at the pool. Read a little, napped a little. Now, we are watching the Redskins play the Baltimore Ravens. So far, they are hanging tough. Only preseason though.

Janie: you're right, daily walks with the pup are the BEST. Ripken and I love our walks together. But Ripken also likes naptime too! I would have liked to do my 1RMs again but I'm just too busy right now. Sister and I kind of started STS again at the same time but my work schedule is pretty full so I'm a little behind on the rotation but plugging along.

Well, I know there are lots of family at my mom and dad's house this weekend. One of my dad's brothers and wife is visiting and I believe my cousin Naomi and her crew are there on their way back to NY from a week in Hilton Head. So, sister is probably busy sleeping, exercising, and doing the family visit thing. Hopefully, we will hear from her tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing and happy weekend.

OHhhhhhhh, what a feeling! Hiit Double Wave Pyramid...geesh, there's nothing like it, except maybe CCC. Which I get to do on Tuesday this week, because I did the week 3's cardio last week, so I'll do week 2's cardio this week. Ay-yi-yi.

Yes, very busy weekend with family. Its fun.

School officially starts tomorrow. All the little kids come back in their new clothes, smiles, and fears. Some will be anxious and scared while others will be thrilled and excited. I love the first day of school almost as much as the last day. Its gonna be great, because I refuse to let it be anything but GRRRRR-EAT!

Great quote for the day before school officially starts, Renee! Your students are lucky, and it is easy to see why you have kept such enthusiasm for teaching over the years. I'm also a fan of double wave. That's my go-to for an intense workout with a short time frame. Might need to do it tonight, either that or an Insanity.

Michelle, yep, this is definitely weekend and you can count me among the definitely busy on our list! Today we have rain, so am taking advantage of that for inside tasks.... a nice change.

Janie, thanks for the welcome home! I will have to think about whether we've had any story-worthy activities lately! One nice thing is that my new squat racks are supposed to be here tomorrow, so I think I'll indulge in a heavy Cathe Legs workout of some kind :D BTW, did you see that Ilaria is coming out with new workouts, including a Forza II? Should be available in September ...

Laura, you motivated me to get out my CrossTrain last weekend, and I tried the Upper Split again. I hadn't tried it before - usually used Leaner Legs on CrossTrain - but it's really good!

Shoegal, I'm really sorry to hear about your back. Is there anything that reliably makes it better? Massage therapy ... epsom salt baths ... foam rolling ... yoga? Wish you were close enough to lend you equipment - I found that my TRX back workouts really helped me reduce back pain, but then my issue was that my lower back wasn't as strong as it needed to be. The foam roller, applied to upper back, helps keep it limber and reduces the stress from sitting. But it's a bit much to buy extra equipment unless it helps you.

Yesterday was productive outdoors and it needed to be! We cleared out the barn again, moving something like a ton of manure to the garden and putting it down as compost. I did Slow and Heavy Chest/Back because I decided all that shovelling was going to mean my back would need a rest for a few days, so best to get all the DOMS in at once!

We are also having a few fireworks with Clara ... nothing unexpected and not bad. Frankly my feeling is that she's doing amazing well all things considered. She's gone from believe that college preparation just meant filling out an application form, to: daily work with her math and vocabulary to get ready for the SAT, weekly reviews with me of how her college prep is going, seeking a better job that she can keep during the high school year without hurting her grades, finding ten-ish colleges that might be suitable and narrowing them down to three, working on the idea of how one pays for college, learning about scholarships, tentatively choosing her likely majors, setting up an appointment with her high school counselor a few weeks before school to get more information about college prep courses ... it's really an amazing turnabout. She is not doing these things because we are making her. She is following up on our advice as to where to look, but really the learning is her own volition. Mainly what I've done is help her envision her ultimate goal, and then figure out what needs to happen (in a broad brush way) for her to get there. This lets her go at her own pace and make her own choices. Regardless, my living room is now a 'how to go to college' independent studies classroom :) We're also dealing with the family issue, and that's okay too. Made good progress there. It's been quite a month.

Hi to Elle, and now I'm off to the rest of the weekend!

Still very humid and the wind has died down. Ripken and I have had two very nice walkabouts. He had been in snooze mode since the second walk. I did MMA KickBoxing. That was fun. Otherwise, just been lazing around, reading Bones by Jonathan Kellerman. DH just left to run to the grocery store to pick up a few items. Maybe pup and I will go for another walk in a little bit. 're staying on the boat until tomorrow. I'll drive in to work from here. The marina really clears out on Sunday and it's nice to have the facility pretty much to ourselves.

Shadowpup: Clara sounds like a very focused young person. She definitely has alot on her plate to deal with and is lucky to have you and your DH for friends and a home. Moving manure does not sound like a good time. Hope the weather clears a little and you get to spend some time with the four-legged equine kids.

Hope everyone enjoys the remainder of their weekend.

Did 30/30 and walked Rolly for 45 min. Burned 483 calories. Tomorrow is STS disc 1.

Michelle, Great job on the walks and yoga. Poor Ripken, the weather must really get to him. Glad you keep him active and healthy. Great job on MMA KickBoxing. I like that one too. Enjoy your Sunday and the solitude for a little bit.

Renee, Great job on HIIT DWP. Awww, I can just imagine the little ones expressions. How cool it that?

Deborah, Enjoy your new squat rack tomorrow. It should be a lot of fun. Let me know how you like it. Where did you see it advertised that Ilaria is coming out with Forza II? I see that PowerStrike II is coming out and I already preordered Ilaria's Atletica Workout. Wow I would love Forza II. Tell me more!

That's a lot of maneuvering. LOL Glad to see you are taking care of your back. Great job on S&H.

You are so good with Clare. I wish someone would have sat me down like that and helped me make those kinds of decisions. I remember having a teenager living with me at one time. Challenging.

It's so hard to get back to work!:( I had a great weekend but now it's back to the grind.

I did not exercise at all since last week and i fell yesterday and hurt my leg! I also had a booster vaccination shot on Thursday and my arm has been so sore and irritated since then.

I lost track of my ww points so i hope i did not do too much damage. I'm going to try and not stress about it too much. I had a great weekend and enjoyed myself but i'm back on track today.

I have no plans to workout today but i'm looking forward to doing some yoga as soon as everything stops hurting.

I'll try and get back for personals later.

Today is a break day for me. I haven't taken an honest to goodness day off from exercise for two weeks, so I figured it was about time. I really have been enjoying my new yoga workout and want to thank Elle for getting me motivated to try yoga again.

Elle: sounds like you've had a few rough days. I hope you get all healed up from head to toe and get back to your yoga workouts soon.

Janie: if I do nothing else, Ripken and I always get some good walks in every day. The weather is starting to moderate a bit--in fact, this morning it was downright gorgeous walkabout weather. Hated leaving the marina this morning, but back to work I went. This past week must have been HIIT 30/30 week. That's such a great workout.

Okay--Somebody help me muster my courage for 40/20--I haven't tried that one yet. It's only 10 more seconds of HIIT and 10 less seconds of rest--how bad can that be?

Hope everyone has a great new week.

Well- I had a very wonderful and eventful weekend. See below my beautiful new neice, Scarlett Kathleen 9lbs 1oz. She came on Friday at 7:20pm - and she is just a perfect little bundle of joy. My entire family is just in love with her.

And if that wasn't wonderful enough - on Saturday Rex and I drove to the middle of the state to deliver Gunner to his new parents Jan & Ron who live near Philadelphia. He now has a new sister too - "G" to play with as well. I think he is going to be very happy. Rex and I were very sad to see him go - we both just adored him. I miss him already. Gunner is the pup on the left - black & white. G is almost completely brown.

Today was STS disk 1, chest, shoulders, and biceps. 50 min. also abs and speed walked Rolly for 30 min. Total calories burned were 553.

Elle, I'm glad you had a great weekend. What did you do? Sure hope your leg mends quickly. Poor thing, then a shot to boot.

Michelle, Have a really nice rest day. You see, having a doggy is worth it. Mentally and physically! :) Love the walks when it is great weather outside, as you know. ;) I love 30/30! You can do 40/20, you are right it's only 10 less seconds of rest.LOL:eek: You are going to do just fine.

Shoegal, Scarlet is a living doll baby, she is so adorable! Gunner and G looks so cute. Congratulations for finding a forever home for Gunner. Yeah! And a sippling to play with, can't get better than that.

Have a nice evening everyone,

Janie

Good morning Ladies!
My arm is finally feeling better but my leg is still tender. I tried to stretch it a little yesterday and rubbed in some tiger balm which is helping.

Michelle: I'm so happy to hear you are enjoying your new yoga workout. :D How many times a week are you doing it?

Shoegal: Congratulations on the new addition to your family! Scarlett is absolutely adorable! I'm happy you found a permanent home for Gunner as well.

Janie: Great job on your workout! On Friday i spent the day at the spa and had a massage, facial, manicure & pedicure and then I went to Niagara Falls and Buffalo over the weekend. I went shopping and enjoyed eating out. It was a nice getaway before coming back to work.

Hi Renee, Laura, and Shadowpup!

Have a wonderful day.:)

Great walkabout with Ripken this morning. Actually had to put on a light jacket. Then I did STS disc 6, legs. I have become so fixated on the dang STS leg workouts that I dreamed about it last night. Obviously, I need to chill.

Shoegal: Very cute niece--no wonder we didn't hear from you all weekend. You were very busy with important family stuff. Gunner looked very happy with his new family. You guys obviously have the magic touch for being puppy foster parents.

Elle: sounds like you are healing up. That's good news. Right now, I'm doing the yoga at least once a week, sometimes twice a week.

Oops--got to run and get a quick bite to eat before heading out for a meeting down south. I'll try to get back later.

Two days of school, and everything is just as I suspected it would be...WONDERFUL! The kids are very good, and eager to learn and have fun. We do both in my classroom.:) I always find kindergarten the most challenging because they know nothing (duh). But they are adorable and just need to learn the ropes. I am getting up at 4:30 and getting the exercise thing done very early. Its working pretty good for me so far. I like getting home and being able to relax and not worry about finding the energy to exercise for an hour. I'm in bed and lights out by 9:30, I'm getting around 7 hours of sleep which works well for me.

I even managed to go to karate last night. (Found my second wind) We learned Universal 2 which involves flip kicks and round house kicks! Well, imagine that. Thats what we worked on last week. I can remember exactly half of it but will definately benefit from some review. Looks like Thursday, Saturday morning and Monday are going to be my karate days. We also learned a ridge hand strike and horse stance.

I did Cardio Core Circuit this morning. Golly, no equipment, but lots of sweat. I could barely make it thru the 5th and final circuit. 51 minutes of great cardio endurance exercise. Tomorrow is STS disc 9, legs. MMA Fusion to finish off week 3 on Thursday. Can't believe how fast meso 1 is going by.

Shoegal loved the pics. The niece is a cutiepie. And Gunner and his new family look very, very happy.

Janie, how are you liking meso 1?

Elle, I'm glad you're on the mend. I have a friend who runs, and pulled her hamstring back in June, and she is still recovering from that. I honestly think, she pushes herself too hard and doesn't give it enough time to heal, tries to run, and then strains it all over again. But I know I would have a hard time from not exercising too.

Hope everyone is doing well. Take good care of yourselves.

The fact is that in order to do any thing in this world worth doing, we must not stand shivering on the bank thinking of the cold and the danger, but jump in and scramble through as well as we can. Sydney Smith

Joey and I had dental appts. today. We live out in the boonies so it took us all day to get there and back. No time for anything else today. I'll have to make up for cardio somehow. Tomorrow is disk 2.

Elle, I'm glad you are feeling better. Your Friday sounds heavenly. Enjoy.

Michelle
, It must be getting close to Fall if you are wearing a light jacket to walk Ripien. Great job on disc 6, legs. Dreaming about legs...hmmmm. LOL:). I think you are doing great.;)

Renee, I'm so glad you are enjoying school. That's why you are the teacher.:) I am such a night owl, that waking up that early for me is insane. Karate and Cathe has a lot in common. Love the descriptions of your Karate classes.

Great job on the Cardio Core Circuit.

I love the STS Series, and all those pushups. It may not have looked pretty, but I got the job done. Whew! Tomorrow is disc 2. Can't wait.

Janie
