Getting Our Licks In!

Walked Rolly and that's about it today.

Michelle, I can imagine you on that boat and a beautiful day. How nice.

Great job on your workouts and walking. I love walking with Rolly, makes me get out there, you know?

True, Cathe's workouts are all fantastic.

Laura, You did good with your bike ride and a run. Hey, I haven't done anything the last two days, tomorrow is another day though.

Your right, any workout is a good workout. ;)

Janie

Its such a good feeling, that I don't have to get up and go to work tomorrow! Nah, nah, nee, nah, nah! :D

So, as planned, I hit the weekend hard. Pushed myself in the exercise department. Today was Insanity Core Cardio and Balance. A bit more intense then the abs and recovery but not as intense as Pure Cardio. I had a nice sweat going on. Every pore of my body was eeking out water. (I sure did drink a lot of water today) Then I did Power Hour. Yes, thats right and boy that was a test. Chest and back yesterday so I went fairly easy with it today with those body parts. Didn't quite make it to triceps...that last little bit before the abs section. I listened to my body say "no more! no more!" OK. I feel very fatigues this evening. Only plan on doing the cardio premix to LIC tomorrow. 48 minutes of fun step! Then later in the day I have my first Karate class. Oh boy!

I am also planning on having hardwood flooring put in later in the month. So, I will be going to Lowes to set that up, delivery, ya da, ya da, ya da. Home improvement. Yippy skippy. It will be 3 days of mess and chaos, and 4 unhappy cats. And this too, will pass. I know it will be worth the inconveinence for a few days. This will also force me to switch where I exercise during the process and after it is done. I have a great room (kitchen, dining and living area) and its the dining/kitchen area that I do step. The living area where I lift weights. After the new floor, that will change to downstairs in my finished off basement. On the plus side, I will move all my equipment downstairs instead of having it in 3 different rooms upstairs. Getting set up for exercise at my house is a "warm-up" to the real deal. Soon it will be centralized. It will take some getting used too, but in the end, I know its gonna be just fine.

Everybody sounds busy and living life to the fullest. Keep on keepin on everybody!

Just a quick check-in to let you know i'm still kickin'.;)

Wednesday; Kick, Punch, and Crunch! I am so not a Kickboxer...yet! I felt like a bit of a klutz but i'm sure i'll catch on eventually!:p I made it to combo two and then skipped ahead to the abs and stretch.

Thursday: Took a rest day. It was a looooong day at work due to month-end deadlines. i was there from 6:30am to 6:30pm. I went to bed early.

Friday: Yoga! :D

Saturday: Low Impact Circuit first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. That's a big deal since i am so not a morning person. I made it through although i took some breaks here and there. This is a really fun workout and i'll be looking forward to doing it again.

I haven't caught up on all the posts but i hope everyone's having a great weekend.

I am enjoying my last few moments with my Gracie Girl. I must say - she is a handful. She gets up very early - and when she is up - well - no keeping her down. She just wants to Play Play Play!!! She is also a real joy to have around - she seems to love with all her heart. My family all got to meet her on Sunday and that was nice - it was bittersweet though - hello - then goodbye. :( Just bear with me these last couple days - It is all about Gracie for me right now. Thanks for all of your kind words and the hugs!!!

On the domestic side - I managed to bake banana bread. I didn't really have a doubt that I could do it - but you know - I don't bake too often. We had tired looking bananas around and Rex wanted to pitch them but I said NO - we shall make banana bread and I got out my best recipes cookbook and found that we had nearly every ingriedient except for walnuts and baking soda. Long story made short - I forgot to put the butter in there but it turned out great nevertheless. Rex will even eat it!!

The weekend was sort of low key but I did buy a new pair of shoes!! :):rolleyes::eek:

CatChick - Good idea to centralize your workout space - and I know you will just love your hardwood floors. Towanda!!! 2 hours of exercise is GREAT - bet you feel good!!! I had a 2 hours step video from CIA that I never did in its entirety (don't think I ever will now - the step got ridiculously over the top complex near the end with poor cueing).

Shadowpup - your life sounds super interesting and now add politics to the mix!! Wow - you just amaze me. Making a speech using an avatar sounds like so much fun - I bet you had a blast doing that!!! Glad you are back with us.

Michelle - what glowing reviews you've had!!! "Cathe esque" & a fabulous sister to boot. I never had any doubt though. All this talk of Body Max and Body Max 2 has me scheduling BM2 for this evening. I could use a good 90 minute workout.

Janie - all those walks sound glorious - and tons of fun with Rolly trotting by you. There is a lot of talk of bears in my neck of the woods too - but I have never seen one or any evidence of one either. We met up with a neighbor though whose said he has seen one - so they are out there all the same.

Laura - I bet your hair looks great - and fun to have a day of beauty - or just a couple hours worth. Do the girls get their hair cut at a salon as well??? Is Bo back? Did he have a good time at the reunion? I can imagine that he was very close with those guys - especially since they all boarded together.

Elle - good job on getting through those workouts. I am a morning person - but to be honest I rarely do a full fledge workout in the morning. I much rather do it at night - just the way I'm wired.

Got to get going - do hope you all have a great day.

Have my Grandson Cody with me for a couple of days. We went to pick him up in Tacoma and brought him back here. He will be hiking with me tomorrow in the woods. We will be very careful.

Renee, It is a great feeling to wake up when you want and not listen to that awful alarm. Yuk!

You did an amazing job on your exercises this weekend. Good for you!

Wood floors sound so wonderful to me. Perhaps when we need to change our flooring we will do that as well. Sounds like it would be less work anyway.

It's really cool:cool: to have a designated space just for exercises, all in one area. You are going to love it!

Elle, Great job on your exercises and the very important days off.

Shoegal, That banana bread sounds great, even without the butter, which isn't good for ya anyway.

Awe, a new pair of shoes. Why doesn't that surprise me? Are they wonderful?

Bears do scare me, so I always make noises and hoot and hallor when I'm out a about. I sure hope I never face one. Makes me wonder sometimes if I should be doing that.:(

Take care everyone,

Janie

Greetings and salutations!

STS 29, plyo legs this morning. I always start out thinking, "gee, not so bad, its kinda easy." Ask me how I feel two thirds of the way through?!? Good golly, plyo legs is such a kick butt routine, no matter what disc you are doing!! lol

I am now a student of Karate! I have signed on for the next six months. I like the discipline and goal setting set of mind. Of course learning how to defend myself, be more focused is pretty important too! Master Ally was impressed with my power. Well, I was flattered, but I think I'm sure I've got more of that somewhere, just gotta tap into it. By the end of six months I should have my green bellt, and if I continue could be a black belt in 2 -3 years. Yeah, well, I'll see how it goes and if thats something I REALLY want or not.

Shoegal, banana bread? Good for you. I don't bake at ALL! I like to grill, make salads, cook, but not bake. And I love bananas. I'll only eat them on the slightly green side. If they've got brown spots...ha, forget it. To ripe for me. I eat very little bread, so combining the two is very unappealing to me. Different strokes for different folks.

Janie, how old is your grandson? How long will he be with you? Enjoy your time together.

Elle, keep up the good work with your workouts!!!

Oh, and by the way...I never or rarely use an alarm clock. During the school year I wake up between 4:30 and 5:00 every morning. My internal clock is great! And now that I can sleep in...ha, ha ha...I haven't made it past 6 am yet! I'm just a morning person, and I'm A-OK with that!

"The great and glorious masterpiece of man is to know how to live to purpose." Michel de Montaigne

Take care...

I think I did not check in yesterday. And I missed wishing Laura a happy birthday yetsterday too. Happy Birthday Laura--one day late.

Yesterday I did Kick Max and after KPC on Sunday and then Kick Max, my glutes were feeling the glow. This morning I did Step Blast which is becoming my second favorite step routine after Rhythmic Step. Of course, they are somewhat alike. My Step Blast dvd is sticking and even with cleaning, it is sticking. I hate when that happens during a workout and it happens everytime I do step blast, so I'm thinking I will purchase a new one. I can't do the trade thing with SNM because this one came from ebay. The new one, however, will come from SNM.

Elle-P: stick with the kickbox--practice makes perfect. When I first did Cathe's kickbox dvds, I felt like a klutz too. And quite frankly, sometimes I still feel like a kltuz, but I feel more comfortable with most of the moves and I have found the leg drills on kick max to be very helpful with my form.

Shoegal: I know parting with Gracie is bittersweet for you, but think of the good you have done for her. Just outstanding. You obviously have an ever expanding heart.

Janie: will you be able to exercise while Cody is visiting or does he provide enough exercise? Bet he is having fun with your Rolly.

Sister: I'm glad you can still get up early on vacation. You can wake me on during the Cathe Roadtrip. 45 more days--oh boy!

Howdy to Shadowpup.
~michelle

I did do BM2 but not the 90 minutes version  - I did the 62 minute Cardio Blast premix. After you finish that - I was going to go back and do the 30 minutes or so I trimmed off - at that point - all the hard stuff is over. Oh well - was quite satisifed with my workout nonetheless.

Okay - everyone in this check in has to tell me their birthdays - mine is June 23rd - I have to write all this down so I don't neglect any more of them. Today is my nephew's birthday and tomorrow is my sister's. June is actually packed full of birthdays - May too - this is my family's birthday season - it lasts all summer long!!!

Last day with Gracie :(:(:( - this evening the new owners come to meet her. I have decided that if for some unbelievable, incredible, miraculous reason they don't want her & this adoption falls through - then she's mine. Only fair. (I can dream, can't I?) I was trying to have a tender moment with her yesterday to tell her how much I will always love her and miss her - she really didn't want to hear it - and wanted to play fetch instead. She is definitely ball crazy. I hope she forgets all about me and has the most wonderful life with her new parents.

Renee - yeah, I didn't actually eat too much of the banana bread - I was letting Rex handle the consumption end of it. My baking is also quite limited - my cooking too as a matter of fact.:eek::eek: Wow - a student of Karate - that is exciting - are there children in the class too? Is this a 6 month course?? Is there any splitting of concrete blocks with your head type stuff going on?

Michelle - lots of kickboxing workouts for you!!! I don't actually think I have KPC!!! How is the crunch part of it - is it hard? Worth having? I think you'll need to get another copy of STep Blast - it is too good of a workout not to have a decent copy.

Janie - enjoy your grandson!! How lovely to have him around for visit. What activities beside the walk - do you have planned?

Laura - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! What did you end up doing on your day??? What did the girls get you?? Did you treat yourself to a new Cathe workout?

Hello to Elle & Shadowpup!!!

Yesterday i did LoMax Premix 1-4. Today i went to a WW meeting and weighed in: 3.2lbs lost!:D

Laura: Happy Birthday! I'm sorry i did not even know until Michelle mentioned it. Hope you had a great day!

Renee: I am the same way with bananas. i like to eat them when they are unblemished and slightly green. Once they turn brown i do make them into bread though. I hope you enjoy your Karate classes. That reminds me that I want to try and see the new Karate Kid movie this weekend.;)

Michelle: I think i need to include StepBlast in my next rotation. I remember i liked the music in that one.

Janie: Enjoy your time with Cody. How old is he?

Shoegal: I'm sorry you have to say goodbye to Gracie but glad you found a great home for her. From choosing a good home to saying goodbye, i don't know how you do it but i think it's great that you make such a difference for these dogs.

Hi Shadowpup!

Have a great day everyone.

Thank You for the Birthday wishes!! I had a wonderful mellow day with my daughters on our 1st official day of summer, I took off of work, and DH asked if I wanted to go out, but I had food that needed cooking at home, so he brought home a delicious wheat free chocolate cake and Champagne with Chambord. We will celebrate with my Mother up at here place at the end of the month.

Today is the beginning of Meso Cycle 3 and I switched up and did the Shoulder, Bi's & Tri's first because I still don't heavy enough weights for Chest & Back. I thought I could also do Plyo legs here at home but it looks like I need heavier weights for that as well...:( I wonder if DH will buy me some for my B-Day??They really are expensive! I think he will laugh at me! Only you guys would understand the desire over big heavy weights over jewelry or something typically girlie!~

Unfortunately I had some weird popping in my right shoulder on Lateral Raises and know it is bothering me and radiating into the shoulder!
Not happy about that at all!

Janie: I hope the weather has cleared up for your walks! Enjoy your GS!
How are is our DD doing? I hope your son-in-law is making progress with his problems! (((((HUGS)))))

Catchicks: So are you doing Karate on days you do other workouts? It seems like it would be a good fit for you. I have played around with the idea of doing some kind of MMA but don't know where to fit it in to my schedule. I love banana bread, pumpkin bread, carrot bread!! YUMMY I wonder if you know of any clean recipes for those? Do you not eat bread for weight or for personal taste?

Shoegal: such a loving heart to love someone enough to let them go! Enjoy the last few hours with Gracie! If it doesn't work out she can come back to you! I confess I bough two pairs of shoes last week! Both on sale and go both of them for less than the cost of one! One pair are black stilettos' with a black and gold criss-cross pattern that covers the top of the foot (does that make sense??) and the other are these ridiculously wonderful silver sparkle high heel sandals. I wasn't kidding you when I said you converted me to a shoe gal! High heels really do make legs look longer and leaner! I just need to practice walking around in them! Maybe I can wear one of them Friday night for my friends Bacholerete party!

Michelle: Lots of kicking going on over at your place! Love KB! And I LOVE KPC!! You are so sweet to remember my B-Day! 45 days and counting!! Is it super Hot and Muggy there?

ElleP: WOO HOO Congratulations on your weigh loss! I need to redouble my weight -loss efforts again, the scale has been moving the wrong direction!:( I don't think it is fat though as my clothes feel the same or better, I am hoping it is muscle mass from STS!!;):rolleyes:

Hi all,

Had to make a 'quick' unscheduled trip - left Sunday afternoon, just got back. My goodness. I needed to get a few biz things back on a positive track that had slipped loose. That's now accomplished, and we all heave a sigh of relief. It is nice to be back home! One advantage of being constantly moving around like this is the keen appreciation for home and family :) I never used to be quite so happy to be doing chores around my very own house; it's a pleasure now, usually, rather than tedious. Unless there are more unexpected happenings, I should be here through Monday morning!

Hope everyone is having a good week so far....

My 14 year old grandson Cody and I walked for around 2 hours near a school trail called "Huff and Puff". It is in the woods and has loops upon loops of trails. We did enjoy it today. Tomorrow I take him back home. He has been such a joy and man is he smart. We also had a lot of fun watching a marathon of movies.

Renee, I know what you mean about leg workouts. Oh boy.

A Karate girl, How Fun! That is soooooo cool.

Michelle, Good job on all your workouts. I'm always impressed with you. A great inspirer. (is that a word?)

Shoegal, Your workout was good. Proud of ya.

Yes, I would like to know everyone's BD too. I missed out on Laura's BD also and would have liked not to have done that.

Gracie will have a great life, you made sure of that. (((((hugs)))))

Elle, Fantastic job on your workouts. Congratulations for losing weight. I bet you are so proud of yourself. Keep it up!;)

Laura, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to Laura, Happy Birthday to you. And many more.;) It sounds like you had a lovely time with your family. Can't get better than that.

I hope your wish for weights will come true. Also hope your shoulder does better the next time around.

My DD and son-in-law are doing OK. It's working out very very slowly, but he is doing better according to my DD. He still needs a lot of help, and both are continuing to see a councilor. Thanks for asking.

Deborah, So glad to hear from you. And really glad that you don't have to travel again until Tuesday. Enjoy the domestic life while you can.;)

Have a good one everyone,

Janie

Yesterday i did Muscle Endurance Express workout premix. it was still 53 minutes long. I find the premixes seem more doable after work. The full workouts sometimes feel daunting after a long day.

Laura: with your active life i'm sure you are gaining muscle weight from STS not fat. I'm glad you had a great birthday.

Janie: I'm glad to hear you had a nice visit with your grandson. Sounds like you had a great hike on those trails.

Shadowpup: Welcome back. I can see how ordinary housework would be enjoyable when you are away from home so much. Makes you appreciate the simple stuff.

Hope everyone's having a great day.

It's nice to have everyone back on the check-in.

This morning Ripken and I had a nice walk--very cloudy and it sprinkled rain a little but we didn't get wet at all. Having showers here off and on. Given that it is raining, I would say it is humid which translates to a bad hair day. Fortunately, I have a hair appointment later this month. Back to the exercise. This morning I did maximum intensity strength. 75 minutes of sweat. I have to admit that when this workout is on my rotation, I'm not real excited about it. I'm not sure why. Maybe just because it is a long workout and those abs at the end. Eesch! Ripken stuck with me through the chest work and then moved to the tile floor in the bathroom. He didn't even come back for the cool down lick. Not sure what was up with that.

Very busy at work and my team leader is going on vacation for two weeks, so I get to be acting while she is away. The joys of being the senior person on the team. Oh well, the time will go by quickly and then I will be on vacation for 2 weeks. I think I can hang with that.

Elle-P: you are doing great with your weight loss. Slow and steady wins the race. The premix workouts that you've been doing sound like fun.

Shoegal: your Gracie solution sounds good to me. My birthday is October 16 and sister's birthday is September 8. Sister actually reminded me that it was Laura's birthday. She noticed it on Facebook.

Laura: I think weights for your birthday is a perfect gift. Let us know what your DH ends up getting you. And I found that the weight scales went up for me during the last STS mesocycle. I wasn't thrilled about that, but it was temporary and my weight came back down after 6 weeks. Hopefully, you are experiencing something similar.

Janie: you hadn't mention your daughter and her husband in a while but I'm glad to hear that they are still working on getting better together. Sometimes life really throws you a major curve ball. Sending good thoughts and (((HUGS))) your way for your family. I'm wondering if you think 14 year old grandsons are easier than 14 year old nieces?

Shadowpup: I hear you--sometimes it does feel good just to scrub something. Hope you get some time with the kids while you are home. Still raining out there?

Sister: it's Wednesday and I think you had some outodoor activity planned today. Hope you don't get rained on.

~michelle

Hi Lovely Cathelites!

I had a very odd experience with my workout today. I had a client this morning, and my stomach was a little queazy but ignored it. Than I got really tired afterwards and actually lied down for a minute. I got up and decided to motivate to workout and choose Low Max, which I haven't done in a long time, partly due to a thread I read last night about Cathe making a low impact series on the Cathe Suggestions thread. Any felt nauseous about 15 minutes into it, and actually threw up a very little bit of my breakfast, than felt fine and decided to keep going, I would feel fine for a few minutes, than nauseous pause the tape walk around a little bit, feel better than keep going...wierd, now I feel tired but not sick. I probably should have stopped but I kind felt like it was sweating whatever this thing is out of me!

I guess we will see. I have two parties tonight, I am, at this point still planning on going unless I feel worse later this afternoon!

Welcome home Shadowpup! I wondered where you went off to! What are you doing for workouts these days?

Janey: I am so glad to hear your DD & SIL are working things out and making progress! Sounds like a lovely hike! Thanks for the B-day song!

Elle: 50+ minutes doesn't sound express to anyone less than Cathe! Good job! I haven't done ME in a long time, but I remember it being tough!

Michelle: Hope Ripken is feeling ok, not like him not to get his licks in! 75 minutes of any kind of Cathe might have a little dread factor for me as well!:p:p:p What are you doing for your vacation? The Cathe road trip?

What a crammed pack day! I was up by 5:30, and out of the door by 7:30. Sort of did my morning thing in slow motion cuz I knew the rest of the day was gonna be busy, and boy was I right. It was very hot and humid today in central Virginia. Two friends and I went to Crab Tree Falls...nice 3 and half mile round trip hike. I nearly melted from the humidity, I sweated gallons of water. It was a beautiful hike and will post pics on my Facebook page soon. I got home around 1:30, showered, ate and then went shopping with my Mom. Just to Sam's and Starbucks. I needed coffee desperately and had a gift card burning in my pocket. Can't wait for tomorrow mornings coffee!

Finally got home around 4:30 and did STS 30, tri's, bi's and shoulders. Wowzers, and did I ever feel it in my shoulders. I think its because of my trekking poles. Which I was glad I had today, because the trail was wet and slippery and having poles to help plant, balance and shift weight is very helpful. Also helps you from losing your footing and falling on your butt! lol

Had a little dinner and now I am just chillin at 7:30 in the evening. A fun day! And tomorrow I start group karate. Very excited about that.

Laura, I hate when I feel like that! But like you, will push through it more times then not. Hope it was just one of those fleeting things and nothing serious.

Elle, keep up the good work. You are doing great!!!!

Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true. Leon J. Suenes

Hello All -
Gracie went to her Forever Home Tuesday Evening - I felt very good about her new home and I think she will be very happy. They sent me an email to tell me that they love my little Gracie already. First picture is Gracie on the boat - she fell in again - (frightening!!) but was a trooper and swam toward the boat - her life vest had a handle so it was relatively easy to grab her.

388639187.jpg

The second picture is her new forever family. Dan & Tess- the older couple at the end are the adopters - Dan and April (the younger couple) is their son and daughter in law. Gracie out in front - it was hard to get her to stand still to take this picture.

388639186.jpg
This is just another cute picture of Gracie. The funny thing is I cried about it before they came to get her - but when they were there I didn't cry at all - I knew it was right and I was just very happy for them and for her. I just want her to have a nice life.

Wow, what a beautiful dog! I love that breed! One of my favorites. You should be very proud and happy Gracie has a wonderful new forever home. Kudos to you, Shoegal.

Today I did SC MMA kickbox. Super duper fun!

Karate this evening. Oh Boy!

Relaxing at home today.

Baking homemade sourdough bread today, then will work out in the garden all day after Joey and I do TBS. Rolly will be helping me in the garden.

Elle, ME premix is fabulous, you did good.

Michelle, I feel the same way with MIS. It is a long one and so is the MIC, but they get the job done.

Congratulations for being team leader for two weeks. How fun! Remind us before you go on vacation because in two weeks I won't remember. Where are you going?;)

Thank you for the hugs for Tina, Chasie and Sid. That was nice and feel better.

I don't have any 14 year old neices near by to visit us, but I love having our 14 year old grandson. It was a hoot. He is ssssssoooooooooooo young trapped in a young mans body. LOL Even his voice is cracking. Cute, Cute, Cute.

Laura, That is a weird experience with your workout. Hope you a doing better and can enjoy those parties.

Renee, You did have a full day. Seems you accomplished a lot too. Thank goodness for those trekking poles. I always use them when I snowshoe, so I know what you mean. I can't wait for you to tell us about the Karate class!

Shoegal, I'm so glad Gracie got a fantastic home, you should feel proud. She is so lovely and full of life, her pictures are beautiful! The people she went to look like they are full of energy too, and they all came together to get her. How sweet.

Renee, I love MMA kickbox, good job.

Have a great day everyone,

Janie

Back again to tell you that I did LIC total body premix. Went well - had to work really hard on those push ups. They do me in - enjoyed that ab work though. Before that - I did some gardening - oh gee - I love making the yard look nice. Daunting task though - DH cuts the grass and thinks it looks nice -he'll even ask - "I cut the grass -doesn't it look good?" I think - NO - you don't do any trimming so I think it looks a mess. So in addition to the planting - I get to trim too. (It helps that I like doing it :)) I can plant some things now that Gracie is gone since she's not there to sit all over it.

Elle - yes, I tend to shy away from the really long workouts - especially lately - and I search for shorter options. I actually feel guilty about that but when I get home and the hours go by - I'm less gung ho about 65 to 90 minute workouts!!! Way to go on the weight loss.

Laura - Love the description of those shoes - I saw these sparkly silver pumps in the store, they were like a pair I saw on Carrie's feet in the Sex & the City 2 movie. The black stilettos sound fantastic - I don't know what it is but the higher the heels the sexier the look. I need new ones with a rounded toe - I've been looking.:eek::eek: Sorry you had those nausea episodes - hope that has passed but you pushed through - I give you credit.

Renee - yes - tell us about karate. We need to know how that goes. Your hike sounded lovely - I'd love to spend the day like that - used to do that more often than I do now. When DH first got together we'd go out and about hiking alot - but now we have kayaks, canoes and boats -we usually opt to do that instead. Must get back to hiking!

Michelle - Where are you going on vacation? Is this a boating vacation or are you traveling? It has been awhile since I've done MIS - probably should do that one again - I just remember it being not as bad as I think it is going to be - just have to make sure I don't avoid it because of the length.

Janie - Sourdough bread - Yummy!! Do you have a bread machine or do you do it all by hand? It is a good think you have Rolly to help out in the garden - my girls help too by sniffing out toads!! Your grandson sounds too cute - glad you enjoyed your time with him and that Tina & Sid are doing well. Takes some time - but it heals a lot of those wounds.

Hello out there to Shadowpup - I hear you - I enjoy being home - sometimes it is the best place to be.
