Getting Our Licks In!

Uh-oh, only mid-week and everyone is busy again. But that is life....
This morning, Ripken and I had a really nice walk. It's been raining off and on the past couple of days and we have been lucky that our walkabout times have been mostly rain free. The trend continued today. After our walkabout, I did pyramid upper body. My right arm felt good up until the bicep work, at which point I lowered the reps at the tip of the pyramid and going back down.
Contemplating tomorrow's cardio. Maybe step blast.

Not much else going on other than the regular work/home routine. Hope everyone has a great day.

Last night I went out with the intention of tiring out little Gracie with a big long walk and initiating some training. No tiring out that pup- she walked (pulled like a frieght train) played inside running back and forth - had me throw her a ball over and over - then it was time for bed and she got a burst of energy and wanted to romp around in the bed with the girls. She is BUSY with a capital B. I do think that Gracie is super super sweet though - and full of life and just what a puppy should be. Nothing is wrong with her - she just needs trained and loved and lots of exercise. Unfortunatley, Rex and I have both noticed that our little Dot isn't herself at all. She dislikes the pup - and is now very mopey - wants to spend lots of time laying in her crate - won't play - it is simply is breaking our hearts. :(:(:(:( I want Dottie back the way she was - we love her so much. Perhaps she just needs more time to adjust.

Last night - I did manage to do a premix to Cardio & weights -- it was an all step workout - (no weights). Can't help but love C&W - one of my favorites. The step was easy to learn but still quite interesting to do. I actually had to coach myself along through the entire thing  - I was thinking up reasons to stop pretty much the entire way through. My back started to ache and I thought - well, that's a good reason to quit  but then I thought - gee, if I can't make it through this then I'm pretty bad off. Well, we all have days like that - tonight will be better.

Michelle - raining here too and I'm sick of it. So - back with the weights - did you feel like you lost a bit of strength or did it just feel good?

Everyone must just be busy- hi to all.

Did Upper and Lower Pyramid with Joey. Walked Rolly.

I can't believe where the time has gone. Sorry for not catching up with the posts. I'll do better. (Hanging head in shame.)

Michelle, Great job on your workouts. Sounds like the marina is a fun place to be.

Shoegal, Boating is a lot of fun though. You'll work it out, you always do. I bet the bulbs will look great this Summer. Pictures?

Awe, you are fostering another doggie. You guys are amazing, that's all I got to say. What breed/s is she?

Have a great birthday dinner for your friend.

Laura, Love Kick butt days. Take it easy, and just merge back into things. K? Proud of you for getting back to eating right.

Shoegal, Everyone should miss a day of exercises every now and again. It's OK. Glad you had a good time with your Mom and at your sisters house.

Deborah, How ya doing girl? We miss you.

Elle, Good job on Body Fusion and SB abs. You are doing great.

Renee, Yes indeed IMAX3 is tough! Whew! Great job.

Michelle, The weather is really good right now, but will be blustery later this afternoon.
Awe, those Pyramid workouts are fantastic! Great job on those.:)

How is Ripken doing these days?

I'll do Step Blast with you tomorrow (Thursday), I need to do a great cardio.

Shoegal, Gracie seems like and endless bundle of energy. You are doing really well with her. Hope Dot becomes more herself soon.

Great job on C&W, one of my favorites as well. I have days like that too. You are right, you have to just get through it.

Take care,

Janie

Almost past the mid-week hump!
Last night i got home at 9pm and just wanted to curl up and relax. I managed to motivate myself to complete my scheduled workout since i knew it would make me feel better. I did Lower Body + StretchMax Routine # 1 and i did feel much better afterwards so i'm glad i made myself do it.

Thank you very much for all your encouragement. Checking in definitely helps me stay on track.

Shoegal: Hopefully once Gracie is fully settled into the daily routine Dot will be back to her old self. Sounds like Gracie is a very happy and playful pup.

Renee: Imax3! You go girl!

Michelle: I like your priorities: Walking Ripken & exercise....the chores will always be there!;)

Have a great day.

Elle, You are so good doing your workout and stretching when coming home so late. I'm so proud of you!

Have a great evening,

Janie

hmmm guess I missed checking in yesterday, I sat down to do it and got distracted by a phone call and never made it back!

Yesterday was my beginner Pilates class and then I stayed at the Rec to do my STS Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps. I just used my STS workout card. I like using the squat rack there for the Chest Presses. It has a safety catch so I don't need a spotter and they have heavier weights than I do at home. Than I decided to do a quick 30 minute cardio and I did Cardio & Weights step only as well! It was fun and the perfect length and challenge.

Today I walked with my mom on a Golf Course 2.11 miles according to her pedometer. It was a gorgeous spring day and we wanted to explore the neighbor hood where she has just put an offer on a town house. AND she got a call from her Realtor that someone is writing an offer on her house so hopefully it all works out beautifully! We are al very excited.

I also taught my Pilates class this evening, and while waiting for my DH to pick me up I decided to hop on the treadmill until he got there. (my car is getting worked on) The first 15 minutes were hell, but I decided I would keep going at a lower speed. Before I knew it I had run for 50 minutes + plus a 5 minute warmup/cool down so a total of 60 minutes. That is the longest run I have done since last spring. When I was running more consistently. I always stop running in winter to ski...

Anyway long post but glad everyone is doing their due diligence and getting their workouts in when they can even when they aren't 'feeling' it...

Did Step Blast today. Whew!

Laura, Great job on your classes and all your workouts. How long did it take to do your workouts yesterday?

So happy for your mom. Will she be closer to you guys now?

Congratulations on running the treadmill for an hour. Wow! It's very impressive. And you did it just waiting for your hubby. Wow.

Have a great day,

Janie

I did TravelFit last night. I wanted to do "band" work. I actually have several workouts that use the band exclusively for strength training and I thought of doing a little rotation using those workouts.

Took the puppy out of doors to play again - she sure knows how to tear up the toys. I told Rex that by the time she leaves we won't have a single toy left. It take her no time at all to demolish something. We had a bit of drama too with her -Rex took her out and snapped her onto the lead outside because we wanted to put her out one last time before bedtime. She slipped out of her collar and took off. I'm FREE, I'm FREE!!! I thought - dear God this is bad. It is dark and late - and she's probably far away by now. I go running down the driveway - not sure where she went - Rex jumped on the quad. We stood there for a bit - I'm shining the flashlight around - and there she was!!! Thank you Lord. You can imagine how happy we were to find her.

Janie - Step Blast - Whew is right - that is one good workout - it is actually one of Cathe's hardest. Love it.

Laura - I'm happy to hear that your Mom might be close by. I hope that all works out just as planned. Good job on that treadmill - just have to get over the initial hell phase of a workout - you just hit your stride!!

Elle - You amazingly get all your workouts in despite being tired or having low motivation!!! Whatever you are doing is working - do you think because all your workouts are written down keeps you on track???

Hopefully I can garden a bit tonight - I am going to see my nephew right before he goes off to prom tomorrow. I remember when he was born - where did all the time go?

Step Blast here too! I love when a couple of us do the same exercise dvd on the same day without any planning. Ripken likes Step Blast because it is a high-sweat producing workout--and he can get lots of licks in during the cool down portion.

Shoegal: I'm thinking Dot feels a little left out and jealous, like Gracie is getting all the attention. Hopefully, she will snap out of it and realize that she has a new playmate.

Elle-P: good for you sticking with your exercise even though it was late. I love those stretch dvds. I'm planning on designating Saturday as a stretch max day.

Laura: so is your mom moving to Colorado from another state or does she already have her home in Colorado? For some reason, I'm thinking that your mom has a place in Atlanta--or is that another family member?

Janie: thanks for asking about Ripken. He's doing great, after all, he does live the life of Ripken. LOL! But that is the way it should be for all pups.

Speaking of pups, where is our Shadowpup? And sister--where are you? I know you are exercising--we are missing your guys on our check-in.

Here I am! I've been here, just not writing anything. I know...naughty me.

I did premix cardio only of 4DS Boot Camp. Its only 34 minutes, but Cathe packs it with high intensity drills to really get your heart rate up and the sweat pouring. Hooray! And tomorrow is my "rest" day! Cathe's October 2009 rotation is definately (IMHO) one of those that really push you hard. I have enjoyed it and will check out the rotations for next month. I am considering Fitness Freaks "Get Ready for Summer 2010" rotation or Janie's "Insanity/STS" rotation. Or perhaps I'll find another killer of a rotation on my second "look-see".

Wow, Elle, I am impressed...working out around 9 o'clock at night is dedication and determination. How do you do that? I am usually getting ready for bed! I like to get up early (4:30ish) and really need at least 7 hours of sleep. I don't have to get up that early, its just habit which will soon break (I hope) with the end of school and the beginning of summer. I will still get up early...between 6-7, what can I say, I'm a morning person. :)

Icky poopy...running? Really? Good for you Laura. I have tried (ask sister) to get into running but I just don't do that well. What's the point? Nothing is chasing you...no bad guys, no mean dogs. I have a co-worker who lives to run...OK, whatever floats your boat! ;) I like to hike (long hikes in the mountains) and bike, and may try that running thing again this summer. Who knows? But, I would rather try some MMA classes, grav maga, kick boxing and karate. I absolutely love my Wavemaster and use it every weekend. I know there are great benefits from running but I have yet been biten by that bug. lol

The great and glorious masterpiece of man is to know how to live to purpose.

Cheers!

Shoegal, A band rotation sounds like great workouts. When you have it all figured out, please post it, I would love to do a rotation with bands. That's really a good idea!

Sounds like the puppy needs a lot of attention and obedience training. What breed is she? Just curious. Sounds like you have your hands full this time. You guys are great for doing this for doggies. ((((hugs to ya.))))

Were you able to garden? Time does have a way of getting out of hand.

Michelle, You are the one that inspired me to do Step Blast. Don't know if I want to thank you, or...It is a hard workout! Thank you.;) Glad to hear Ripken is doing well. Got to keep in check, you know.

Renee, I'm not a runner either, but sometimes for me it's OK.

Great job on Cardio only of 4DS Boot Camp. I know it isn't as easy as it sounds. It's a great workout. Good for you.

Take care and have a lovely evening,

Janie

Didn't get a chance to post yesterday, my whole day was scrambled due to forgetting the girls violins, which I had to run down to Boulder, which you guys know by now is a 2 hour round trip, so I decided to take a nice hike while I was down there, it was a beautiful spring day....straight up the foothills and down in 1:24 and 634 calories! Saw a herd of deer and a GIANT snake on the path!:confused: I then ran home and got in my STS legs, so legs are sore today between the hour run on Wed, and the hike + legs yesterday.

So today is my scheduled day off and I plan on taking it!!

I have to run now to Boulder for my private clients but I will be back later for personals! Hope everyone is doing well!

Getting a late start today and since Joey is gone babysitting his grandson Anthony, thought about one of the STS cardios (heavy bag) and long walk with Rolly today. Have to talk to him about peeing in the front room while I was getting my breakfast.:( I didn't say a word to him, I thought it was all under control, but it's not his fault, I wasn't watching him properly. Just a little more reinforcement and he'll be fine. Two accidents in two weeks is pretty good.

Laura
,

Know exactly what you mean when you have to go back home because you forgot something. With all the wonderful walk/run and STS you did, were you able to get back to the girls on time with their violin?

Good job by the way, and in fantastic weather. What kind of snake was it?

Love it also when walking in the woody area of the Christmas tree farms, and seeing nature first hand. Don't see herds of deer very often, I only got a chance at that once so far in 19 years. Guess it's getting just too busy around here. I do see a lot of Gardner snakes and slugs, and some possums and raccoons every now and then.LOL

Have a great rest day,

Janie

I was thinking I would lift weights again today, but my body was screaming STRETCH this morning, so that that's what I did: stretches 1 and 2 from stretch max. Maybe I'm just getting acclimated to doing the stretch routines on Friday--my body sure does enjoy the break. I did talk over next week's workouts with Ripken during our walk this morning and we decided it will be a mix of cardio and the Slow and Heavy weight work. Looking forward to it.

Janie: I agree with you: housebreaking a puppy/dog really is all about the owner paying attention to the dog and being ready to scoot them outside. We have been very fortunate with both of our dogs (Plug our previous yellow lab and now Ripken). They didn't make very many mistakes in the house because DH and I made sure they went out every 2-3 hours the first couple of weeks. I've always wondered if small dogs, particularly when they are pups, have to go out more often because their bladders are smaller.

Laura: the snake siting would have been a bit too much wildlife for me. You crack me up--today is your day off but you really are still exercising with your private clients. Too funny.

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Hi all!

The long sequence of travel is nearly over ... and the most challenging trip is just now over. I have a shorter one on Tuesday, and then a two day in June. Hurray!

Right now I need to go clean up for dinner. It is fun to be home

Michelle, Great job on those stretches! ;) Did you do the mix of cardio and S&H?

I've been taking Rolly out every 2-3 hours. I just happen to be to close to his schedule and wasn't paying that close attention. He's doing great now and it won't take too much longer before he'll remind himself to do it.

Deborah, Nice to see ya! Can't wait to hear all about what you've been up to. Glad your home.

Enjoy your dinner,

Janie

Nice relaxing Saturday. I did the Low Impact Kickbox premix from KickMax and stability ball abs from the Basic Step/Body Fusion dvd. I enjoyed the cardio and ab workout today. More abs tomorrow with Butts and Guts.

Been a steady breeze/wind out of the SE today here at the marina. Went up on the bow to read and catch some rays but it was just a bit too nippy in the wind so I hung out in the cockpit instead. I get a little more privacy up on the bow of the boat and tend to prefer to do my sunning there but that's the way it goes sometimes. Not too much of a hardship, quite frankly. Very quiet here this weekend at the marina. Not sure why, but we are enjoying it because next weekend will be crazy.

Janie: I figured that you are a well-seasoned puppy trainer. Sometimes us puppy owners just lose track of time or aren't paying as close attention as we should be. Sounds like you and Rolly are doing pretty good with the house breaking. Ripken is laying here at my feet getting a snooze in before we head out for our evening walkabout. Might get a little rain later--hard to say. With this wind blowing out of the southeast, the rain that is coming down at home might blow north of southern Maryland.

Shadowpup: glad to hear that you are home safe and sound. Hope you get to spend some quality time with your DH and the kids.

Shoegal: have you gone boating or are you busy with the Dot and Gracie?

Sister: I'll call you later. Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Laura and Elle-P: hi ladies, where are you?

~michelle

Howdy!

Yesterday I did STS 29 plyo-legs. Love those anaerobic power drills. What a sweat-fest that one is. Today I have the pleasure to do STS 10 Chest Shoulders and Biceps. I will probably do the heavy bag bonus from MMA:boxing first as a "warm-up". Tomorrow I get to do Power Max plus ab circuits med ball. Yippy Skippy! I have enjoyed this rotation, love how it pushes you. Still haven't decided on the next rotation, there's time for that yet.

Enjoying a nice weekend. Went shopping with my Mom Saturday morning, and out with some girlfriends Saturday evening. Today I will get the household chores done and just chill out with the cats. I love when my 4 cats and I just lay around "watch" TV and hang out together. Its my family time! lol

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, as much as I am enjoying mine. Take care!

~Renee

Hi all,

I'm enjoying the weekend home :) It was very cold yesterday, so we had the unexpected bonus of a nice fire in the fireplace, and grilled steaks on top of it. Yum!

Also, I realized midday that I'd been saving STS Meso 3 for the end of this travel ... and most of the travel is over ... so no reason not to start! No time like the present! And so start I did  It has been a month since I did a real STS workout, and I really missed having a target weight. It would be great if we could print target weights with Cathe's other dvd... a lot of work to set up, though, and it's possible to do it by hand.

Anyway, last night I started Meso 3 with Squat Rack Legs as it was time for a legs workout. I was actually able to push the weights up a little above what the workout sheets said for squats, which was pretty amazing given all this time off. Also, I'd had to back off about ten percent on my upper body workout earlier this week, so I'd thought I'd have to do the same on Legs ... While my form was not quite as deep as it could have been in the squat, it was pretty decent, and I was able to squat a PR of 150 pounds (vest 40, two 55 pound dumbbells), and equal my previous PR for deadlift 133 pounds for eight reps each. I dropped my lunges to 100 pounds since I was wobbling a little by the end of the workout, and did those with good form. Very fun!

All of the animals are in various degrees of needy-ness, and the poor horses are getting the least attention right now, because the weather just isn't cooperating. We can't go riding til the ground dries again and that is now going to be next weekend :(:(:( The cats are beginning to calm down, and so are the dogs. And so is DH :D But no one will be happy when I leave again on Tuesday.

Hi to all, and soon I can get caught up on personals too! After this next trip

Hi Everyone,
Here is my recap of the last couple of days:

Thursday was supposed to be a yoga day but i was so tired that i went to bed early and skipped the yoga.

Friday i had a day off from work and spent most of the day at the spa:D I had a full body massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure. Lunch was also included. I also completed my scheduled workout which was 45minutes on the treadmill.

Saturday I decided to sub in another Jari Love workout instead of the tubing workouts from BS/BF. I did Slim & Lean which is a really good full body workout.

Shadowpup: Welcome back. Sounds like you had a great workout too.

Renee: LOL, I feel the same way about running. I've tried to get into it but so far I haven't caught the running bug. I'm definitely not a morning person and i would rather workout at 9pm than get up at 4:30am.

Michelle: Stability Ball Abs from the Basic Step DVD is a great little ab workout. I always feel good after i do that one.

Janie: Sounds like Rolly's training is going well.

Well it sounds like everyone is having a great weekend. enjoy the rest of it.
