Getting Our Licks In!

STS legs and KB Cardio only from 4DS. Oh yea my legs were feeling that combo for sure!

Elle: you are going strong and steady on your workouts! Hope checking in is helping!

Shoegal: love the pics, gorgeous! One place I need to go before I die!

Janie: how is he settling in to his new home?

Happy Friday!

Aww, Rolly is the cutest little doggie. He looks like he didn't miss a beat settling into his new home. And Joey doesn't look one bit unhappy either! lol

Yesterday was KickMax. Sister called just as I was getting to the blast. That was a short call...sorry sister. This rotation (Oct 09) I'm doing sure is taking a lot out of me. But its all good, just have major doms everyday. I flaked out on the standing leg conditioning drills. With the walk-a-thon tonight, I wanted to be able to do just that...WALK! lol

There is only 17 more school days with children and 2 more without. June 9th is the kids last day and the 11th is the teachers. I just can't wait. I love what I do, but I am ALWAYS ready for summer!

Every weekend since getting my wavemaster, I do the heavy bag bonus from SC:MMA:boxing. I sure hope I have the energy to do it this weekend. I am as sore as I was when doing STS meso 1. But the results are worth it!

Have a great Friday everybody!

~Renee

TGIF!!!! Yesterday's scheduled workout was either StretchMax OR Yoga. I decided to do yoga since i've been neglecting my practice now that i'm back to Cathe. It's always been a struggle to find a balance between the two. When i was away from here the yoga was going good, when i'm focusing on Cathe, yoga suffers. For the time being i think i'm going to try and fit in yoga where StretchMax would have been scheduled.

Shoegal: Woo-Hoo! Looks like you are getting the hang of the tech stuff! Beautiful pics!!!! I was picturing that being the setting for New Moon or something!

Have a great Friday Everyone!

Yesterday I chose to a premix of Step Blast - it was Combos 2 & 3 and the challenge. I was absolutely drenched with sweat afterwards. I worked my tail off - it was a great feeling. :p;):D

We also took the girls to work with us today - Dottie managed to snag some food from a coworker's desk!! What a naughty puppy she is -at least she has moved on from her shoe eating escapades.

I think I will attempt to plant some cannas this weekend - this task is definitely looming over my head. Just have to just dig in, I suppose. I also actually attempted to decorate for Memorial Day  Yeah, I know - I don't usually - it seemed like an odd "holiday" to decorate for - (don't worry I didn't do very much). But it got the decorating out of my system I suppose.

Elle - just saw your post after I posted this - must be on at the same time. Do you do a yoga tape or make up your own routine? I enjoy a bit of yoga - don't do it very often - especially like the parts where we just breath deep and stay still. lol
Who knew - I'm more technically inclined than I gave myself credit for.

Renee - do you find that the school year flies by? I am always ready for summer to - love it when its here. Good luck on your walk-a-thon!!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!!!

Joey and I did TBS as usual using heavy weight. Took Rolly out for an hour long fast paced walk.

Laura, The combo from Legs and KB cardio is intense. Great job!

Rolly is settling in like he's been here forever. He fits in perfectly, or should I say, we fit in perfectly. LOL:D

Renee, I agree, I do believe Joey cares very much about him. Actions speak louder than words for sure.

Great job on Kickmax. It's not easy, I know. Have fun in the Walk-a-thon tonight. What is it for?

I'm ready for Summer too, visiting, not being cold, flowers every where...:D

Love the heavy bag workout! If I know you, you will find the energy to do it.:)

Elly, Good idea on switching StretchMax to Yoga. I'm doing that as well. Got a get that yoga in somewhere.;)

Shoegal, Good for you for working so hard on that combo. Not easy for sure. I love the euphoria too, after a great workout.:)

Dottie sounds like a delightful doggie.

Decorating? You are so funny! Have fun.;)

Another picture of Rolly.

Good Saturday Morning!

The Relay for Life Walk-a-thon for the American Cancer Society is more like a celebration then a walk-a-thon. Each team sets up a table/booth and sells stuff. Perhaps food, or trinkets or longaberger basket raffles. Just a bunch a stuff to help raise money, celebrate people who have survived cancer and memorialize and honor those who didn't. So, I didn't do much walking. Danced, talked, ate a banana...and was home by 9:30! Central Virginia had a strong front pushing through so I don't think it went all night. There was thunder and lightning at one point, and everyone was urged to go into the gym. All in all, it was fun, and I will probably do it again next year. Hopefully I will be able to contribute more to the team. I joined late so wasn't fully in on the fund raising efforts. My team raised over $1000 over the last 8-9 months. Me...just $20, my entry fee and a "pledge" from my Mom. Now that I have a better clue of what its all about, I think I will be able to be more pro-active. It's such a worthy cause, and am thrilled to be a part of it.

Today starts week three of Cathe's October 09 rotation for me. STS Disc 15, back and shoulders is on the docket for today. And yes, Janie, I will add not only the heavy bag bonus, but the entire SC:MMA: boxing dvd today to my scheduled workout. Sleeping an extra hour and half later then usual, and it being the weekend and all...its rare that I don't find the energy to "pump" it up.

Rolly is so cute. He does resemble Molly. I am so happy for you Janie, that you all found him. Nothing like an animal to fill that special place in the heart.

I think that I have missed a few days. The end of the week got very busy. I think my last check-in was Wednesday after having lunch with Shadowpup. Exercise report first: Thursday, Body Fusion; Friday, total body stretching; and today standing legs/glutes and abs from Buts and Gutts. Sounds like everyone is staying busy and sticking to their exercise.

I've been at Quantico every day this past week. Whew! Doing lots of interviews for a new study. Yesterday, the traffic leaving base was horrible. It took me 45 minutes to go about 1 and half miles from the building I was in to the back gate--then another 45 minutes to go about 4 more miles to North Stafford. Headed straight to the boat--another hour and 30 minutes but no traffic. Joe and Ripken were already here. Had thunderstorms all around us last not, but nothing came through Solomons. Today, the weather is absolutely gorgeours: clear, sunny, nice breeze, mid-70s. Ripken and I have had 3 dog walks today, I exercised, gave the exterior of the boat a quick cleaning, and then I lounged on the bow for about an hour. We've got a marina mixer to attend in a little bit which is an annual event.

Sister: the relay for life sounds like it was fun. Not all about walking, huh? Go figure.

Janie: Rolly and Molly do look alike--it's the ears and the face.

Elle-p: stretching or yoga sounds good to me. I've started doing a Cathe stretch dvd on my break days. Makes a huge difference. You are doing great getting back into a regular exercise routine.

Okay--DH is making noises about getting ready to go to the marina mixer--be back later.

Quick check in as I am running late to a party....

I was unable to make it home last night due to snow and had a scary time on my road getting stuck and unstuck for 45 minutes before miracously getting turned around in a one lane dirt road in 1 foot of snow and went to my friends house with the girls to spend the night. DH snow mobiled home and got the road plowed but it is an absolute mess. So I am going to spend the night out again tonight!! Not to happy about it but I have to go as it is for one of my best friends...

Yesterday was my day off and today I did STS Meso Cycle 2 Week 3 Disc 21 and the ab section from Cardio & Weights...

I will come back later to catch up on everyone when I have more time!

Renee, I think The Relay For Life Walk-ATthon is truly needed. It's great that it can be fun, visit, remember... If I see one in my area, I'll be sure to join in. Thanks you for that.

Congratulations for almost finishing the rotation. Sounds like a heavy duty workout today. I'm impressed, but I always am with you anyway.;) Love your quote for the day.:)

Michelle, OOOOOOO, how did lunch with Debroah? Wish I could have been there with the both of you!

Sounds like you had an extra busy week at Quantico Air Force. It also sounds like you all had a busy wonderful day yesterday at the Marina.

What do people do at the Annual Marina Mixer?

Your workouts are great, good for you. I'll most likely have a rest day today. Poor Rolly.:(

Laura, Did you have a good time at the party?

Darn that snow anyway! So glad you escaped injury from traveling in the snow. Also glad that you have a friend that helps out in those situations. Wow!

Your workout looks great. Seems you are keeping up with that. Good for you.

Take care everyone and have a wonderful Sunday.

Janie

Hello Everyone,
Friday i completed Turbo Jam + Stability Ball Abs Add On from BS. Saturday i decided to sub in Jari Love's Ripped to the Core instead of the UB + LB Add on's from BS. I forgot how good that workout is and i'm feeling it today!

Shoegal: I usually do my own yoga routine when i want i thorough practice. When i want an easier or shorter routine i sometimes use the Namaste series that i have on DVD and i also like Ali McGraw's Yoga Mind and Body.

Renee: Glad to here the Walk-A-Thon went well even if it wasn't all about walking!;) Your weekend workout plan sounds tough but it makes sense to push harder on the weekends.

Laura: I can't believe you are talking about that much snow in May! I hope Spring finds you soon!

Michelle: Sounds like you have been enjoying the nice weather where you are spending time outdoors at the marina.

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone.

Well me and my friends and all of our daughters had a wonderful evening together, with a little dance party thrown in, all our daughters love to dance and so do their momma's so it was really fun. I had another social event today, mom's getting together for a friend who just had her second baby. It was fun, but I didn't get my work out in...again...I need to be careful because my calendar is getting so packed I need to make sure exercise is a priority again! I make sure I get my STS in, but my cardio is suffering, partly due to the weather....

Janie: love your new pup! He is the cutest little guy every! I am with you, seriously ready for warm weather. Fortunately today was beautiful and lots of melting...but that only means another cycle of mud...

Catchick: that sounds like fun! Glad the weather didn't get to ugly for it. Sounds like you are Rocking it ROCKY style with the wavemaster

Shoegal: Step Blast is the Body Blast series right? Did you think the premix was harder than the Original?

Michelle: hate traffic! One blessing of rural living, but then again we have to deal with dirt roads and winding mountain roads, and ice and snow....
how was lunch with Shadowpup? When is the Road Trip? Any progress on the T-shirts? Do they come in lady cuts?

Elle: I have the same problem with getting my personal Pilates in with Cathe rotations, not to mention Yoga. I have the Am/PM Yoga from Giam which I do fit in some times as the routines are very very short....

Shadowpup: miss you!! Check in when you can

Happy Monday!

Yesterday i managed to get my yoga practice in. I didn't really feel like it because my legs were feeling sore from Jari Love but i knew i would be glad afterwards so i managed to get it done. I am glad since i don't have very many Yoga days in the rotation i'm currently doing.

Laura: Sounds like you had a lot of fun dancing with your girls! That's should count as cardio right?;)

Have a great day everyone!

Joey and I did MM today. Will be taking Rolly out for a walk soon.

Elle, Joey and I have done Jari Love and think the workout is a tough endurance DVD. Your weekend workouts are great. Very proud of you.

Laura, I can just picture you and your girls dancing. I bet that was fun. I hear ya on trying to fit everything in. But, your right, exercise is a must and need to fit it in. Sometimes working/scheduling workouts around life can be a challenge but when done it's a blessing.

Yuck! Mud! So sorry you are not getting the weather you shouldn't be getting. I feel for you.

Elle, Good job on your yoga practice. I know how it goes when your body is feeling the effect of the days before workout. Glad you stuck with it. You did good!

Janie

Happy Monday! Yesterday I did the floorwork and abs premix from Buts and Gutts and this morning I did the upper and lower body sculpt plus stability ball abs from the Basic Step/Body Fusion dvd. I'm feeling like I need to kick it up a notch this week. Never did do IMAX last week, maybe this week.;)

Janie: our yacht club and the marina co-sponsor a marina mixer each May on the weekend when we have our flag-raising ceremony. It's just a big picnic: everyone brings a dish to share and the yacht club and marina split the cost of hot dogs, hamburgers, fixings, beer, wine, soft drinks, and bottled water. Flag raising was Sunday morning and marks the "official" beginning of boating season although many of us have been enjoying our vessels for the past month or two. It's all about good boating fellowship. Muscle max sounds like fun. I've got to put that on my short list of dvds to do--as I'm adding back in the weight work--slow but sure.

Elle-P: I personally feel that yoga is hard and good for you on doing it regularly. You know that is the one thing to which Cathe has not devoted a dvd. She mixes yoga into alot of her workouts, but doesn't not yet have one devoted to yoga.

Laura: you are dealing with snow, and sister and I were laying out in the sun this weekend in our bathing suits. Crazy. And I haven't done anything about tracking down a place to design shirts for our group. I need to get on that little task. And I definitely prefer a ladies cut shirt vice a traditional t-shirt.

Shadowpup and I had a nice visit last week. I just wished all of us could have been together. Never say never, on that one--you just never know what might happen.

Howdy to sister, Shoegal, and Shadowpup.
Have a great week.
Michelle

Very busy weekend - one - worked very hard to plant all the summer bulbs. I finished all of my indoor work and came outside (absolutely beautiful day) to plant. I decided it was way way too ambitious of me to think I'd get anything planted since the beds were in such a state - I swear I had just weeded them. I defintely need a bit of mulch. Well - DH was out working on the boat and he has done a fantastic job - it almost looks brand new but - it became apparant that he wasn't about to help me plant anything - and usually he is out there with me. The boat consumes all of his time - sometimes late in the evenings on weekdays and I told him it was complete mistake to allow him to have a boat. Now - that is his project - and absolutely eveything else suffers for it.:(

So half of the bulbs went in - still so much more to do. Anyway, we call about a surrender to GSP Rescue recently - these people live near us - and go to visit the 7 month old puppy they want to give up. Gracie is just a pup - extremely high energy - full of vigor - on the go - go- go!!! I really think the older couple who owned Gracie didn't give her enough of a chance - but they claim that she completely dominated the other 2 passive Labs they that own and was just too much for them. So she is with Rex and I now - and seems rather happy. She is certainly a handful. The girls seem to like her just fine - I will post a couple photos of Gracie when I take them.

I have to go to my Mom's this evening - we are hosting a little birthday dinner for a friend of ours - that should be fun. Got to run - hope everyone has a great day.

Happy Monday,

Got my own butt kicked by my self today with my 3 classes! Definitely feel the results off babying myself after my accident especially with the core work, not as strong as I was before that. Getting back on track with the eating as well today. I am looking at ways to adding in more cardio, which has been suffering with our weather!

Shoegal: a new doggie friend for you as well! Hope she settles in nicely and you can find her a good home. Good job on the yard work. The snow is melting fast now and my yard is a big mess...

Michelle: sounds like a fun get together at the Marina. Yes looking forward to warm weather, all though I am trying to be good about now getting to much sun and have been using a tanning lotion to try and resist the temptation of sun bathing, which I LOVE, but at this altitude and the amount of time I spend outdoors recreation I need to be careful. How fun to meet Shadowpup in person!

Janey: Love MM! But killer on those legs! Enjoy walking Rolly!

Elle: so need to do more yoga myself! Good for you for doing your practice even when you were sore!

No exercise - went over my Mom's house and had dinner. Lots of fun - slept over my sister's house, I was very tired after getting up quite early yesterday. DH had an early flight and of course, he woke me up too! So I am remembering the posts about balance in our lives - and as long as I am consistent - missing one day won't kill me.

Laura - I don't think the premixes of Step Blast are harder - for one thing - they are shorter (well at least the one I did). The first combination was completely eliminated. But I was surprised to find that workout under an hour. You'll get your strength back - and quickly too - your muscles will remember. Dancing with your girls sounded just lovely. That's a way to get more cardio into your workouts!!!

Michelle - Marina Mixer sounded like fun - did you have a nice time? Quantico traffic sounds absolutely lousy. Rex would be enraged sitting in that. (He can be ridiculously uptight about traffic ) IMAX would definitiely ramp things up a bit.

Janie - Rolly is a lucky pup - I bet he really enjoys those walks. Good job on MM - I like that one a lot too.

Elle - We all have days where we aren't exactly motivated for one reason or another to do the workout we have planned (or just a workout in general) - but we manage to push through and get it done. So good job. I do have a couple of Yoga tapes -Rodney Yee I think - I'm think I'll dig those out - all this Yoga talk has got me interested.

Hello to Shadowpup & Renee.

Good Morning,
Yesterday's workout was Body Fusion + Stability Ball Abs Add On. I found all those lunges around the step tough so i'll know i've made some fitnesss gains when i can get through them easier.

Shoegal: You spent time with your mom and your sister so that's time well spent. It's not like you decided to blow off your workout to sit on the couch and eat cake!;)
I need to work on balance since i often start out strong but if i get off track it is really hard to get back on schedule. That's why i entered all my scheduled workouts onto my phone. It's been helping me to get it done and if i do ever have to miss a workout i know there's another one to do the next day.

Laura: I didn't even know you had an accident! :( I'm glad you are ok and getting back to "kick-ass workouts".:)

I hope everyone else's weeks are getting off to a great start! Have a great day.

Hello everybody!

Yesterday I did IMAX 3, and is that a tuff little workout! It made me feel like I did when I was doing Basic Step two years ago...totally spent, and looking like I just got out of a swimming pool! LOL And this was after disc 3 STS 1 the day before. My legs and glutes are not happy, but they will thank me for it later! LOL

I was giving sister a hard time about the upper/lower body sculpt. Told her she was wimping out! I guess its difficult to ramp it up on a boat, so she does what she can.

Elle, you are doing a great job getting back into the swing of things. Keep up the good work! It takes time and devotation.

Keep on keepin on!
~Renee

Sister is right, I was feeling a bit wimpy yesterday. So I decided to kick it up a notch today and did IMAX2. It felt so good to be dripping sweat. Tomorrow is feeling like a Pyramid Upper Body day.

Shoegal: ah, welcome to my life, my boating life, that is. I barely squeeze in the regular household chores during the week and then it's boat weekend chores. Top priorities still remain: walking Ripken and exercise. Glad to hear that you have a new foster pup. It sounds like you and Rex really are well-suited for the challenge and have just the right family setting for helping these dogs.

Elle-P: I remember how tough Body Fusion was to get through the first few months--those uneven lunges--WHEW! Stick with it--before you know it, you will have it mastered.

Hi to Shadowpup, Janie, and Laura. Hope you all get some warmth and sunshine out west.
~michelle
