Getting Our Licks In!

Laura, So glad you are feeling better and have a back to normal classes. TBS is Total Body Sculpting. I think it's an easy one, but Joey and I use very heavy weight plus we do it twice over. It makes it a great workout for us. This is one of Joey's favorites.

Renee, Good for you to listen to your body. You can't go wrong with all that stretching.:) Love line dancing, haven't done that...well, I just can't remember the last time.;) I tried to do your instructions for line dancing and it was fun! You made that up? Fun! No wonder you are a teacher, and a good one too.

Joey will have plenty of time to practice while I'm away for sure. I guess they'll be just fine. I'm just a worry wart. Thanks for reassuring me.

Janie

Weird post ::confused::confused::confused: Did "donejerseys" post this on everyone's check in or just ours? Very odd.

Last night I did PS: legs. I enjoyed that - great workout. I found the leg presses on the tall box difficult actually and it disturbed me - need to work on that and get stronger.

Things are moving quickly with our yard sale. This morning DH proclaimed that we didn't have enough stuff to sell. I don't know how to rectify that. I think we are going to be ok. He has a way of second guessing himself that I find exasperating. He told me to find out the "cut off" day for advertising in the paper because if it was going to be a "total washout" then he didn't want to have it. I said - No way - it is this weekend - we have been working to put this together for weeks - I'm not backing out now!! Remember that debacle known as the "bonfire" last year?? It is on, it is off, it is on, it is off, it is on - it is off. I don't want to put myself through that again.

Renee - the dancing sounds like fun - I love to dance - great to do that for work too!!

Laura - glad the class got back to normal - they just needed to know you'd be there- that's all.

Janie - I don't have TBS - when I started my Cathe collection I wanted to be selective - and not buy absolutely everything she made because I had done that with The Firm and I now have a bunch of workouts I never do. What are you doing to prepare for the cruise?

Hope everyone has a great day!!:)

That is a weird post by donejerseys. I'm going to check some other forums and threads to see if "donejerseys" posted that on multiple threads. Didn't make me want to buy a jersey.

Yesterday was a busy day but I did get my exercise done. Like sister, I also did Low Impact Step yesterday and we didn't even plan that. Every once in a while we do that. This morning was Total Body Stretch #3, Core Max #3, and Stretch Max #3.

I was at a conference all day yesterday with a 2-hour "break" to attend meetings with our new General. I wore dress shoes with an inch and a half heel and my left foot was not happy about that. Today I have on more sensible shoes and my foot is much happier.

Sister: dance week--how much fun is that? I know this wipes you out by the end of the week, but you guys always raise alot of money. Hopefully, you and Ann will get some new music and PE equipment for your efforts.

Janie: practice does make perfect on giving shots. Joey just needs to not psyche himself out and he and Winkle will be fine.

Laura: Sister and I really enjoyed meso 2 and I hope you do too. Having that longer break time makes a difference. And I'm sure your regulars will come back to your classes. Let us know what the doctor says about your neck/back. I hope he/she doesn't recommend laying of exercise for a while. That would stink.

Shoegal: golly, how can you not have enough stuff for your yard sale. Sounded like you guys were going gangbusters on your organizational efforts. I'm with you, push on with the yard sale--don't let your DH siderail the plan.

Where is our Shadowpup? On the road again?

Top of the day to everyone.
~michelle

Joey and I did MM today.

Shoegal, That post is strange. I think it's only one post, why here I have no idea. Just ignore, it doesn't feel right.

Great job on Pure Strength. That's good you are aware of what needs work on your body and what doesn't. :)

Tell your Honey just to calm down. Everything will be a hit this weekend and you will reclaim some of the money you put into this stuff you don't use anymore. It's a great idea, and it will be successful.

I've been packing for the cruise for months now. Taking things out, putting them back in, remembering I need this and that. I'm going on line to get a list of things to pack for a cruise.

I can't wear heels anymore, just doesn't work out at all.:( By the way, How was the meeting with the new general?

Michelle, Good job on your workout. I love LIS.

Yeah, where is our Shadowpup?

Have a great day,

Janie

Hi all,

Just popping in - I'm in a hotel in DC again :) Got here Monday. This morning is a little lighter in terms of meetings, so I'm getting a chance to catch up on my inbox, which is truly scary ... The up side of having so many visits to do earlier in the week has been that I didn't need to look at it, but it's a little painful now :eek::eek:

It is absolutely gorgeous outside and fun to see the the dogwood trees in bloom, with tulips around them.

Workouts have been pretty good. This weekend I finished off Meso 2 week 3, and did  some of Jillian's new yogasculpt dvd  It was actually pretty entertaining if you didn't have any expectation of it being yoga  If you replaced 'warrior pose' with 'jumping jacks' the feel would have been about the same! All three horses got out this past weekend, and they badly needed it. Poor kids, they are lonesome and bored, even in their big pasture.

While here I've done my cardio coach workouts twice, so today I'm thinking TRX a little later. I am having *far* too many business meals and can really feel the sodium.

Well, I'd better get back at it! I miss the daily connect with our team. It has just been too long evenings and too early mornings to get connected before now.

Hello All -

Last night I did Stepsational - yes - again. All the way through - and there were problems :( - lost my focus and was all over the place - and couldn't wrap my mind around one part of one combination. I kept thinking - I've done this before and I know this is doable - but I missed it more times than I got it. There are a couple of things I fudge a little - I know I'm probably adding in a couple steps - or I'm going the wrong direction but I always end up on the correct foot at the right time by the time it ends. ;) One day it will all click with me - but I'm having fun with it. :)

Countdown to Garage Sale - DH is all tied up in a knot about it - we need to place the signs Friday night for the sale - but apparantly - this is going to take all night long to do.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: He has cleared our schedule and plans to do nothing else that evening. We are also supposed to scour the house for more things to sell. I thought about all of my seasonal items and perhaps there is something there I 'd wish to part with - but actually I don't want to get rid of any of that now. I am told that as I get older I will scale way back and perhaps that is true - but I can't imagine ever wanting to part with some of my treasures.

Shadowpup - Good to hear from you. Some of the pictures of DC in the spring are breathtaking - enjoy your surroundings while you are getting some work done. I bet your kids are missing you!

Michelle - definitely having the sale. Silly not to at this point. Some of the neighbors are coming by to "pre shop" tonight!! Ridiculous! Great minds think alike when you & Renee choose the same workout!!!

Janie - before I travel I think all about which clothes I'll take - I sort of run it through my head all the time - despite all of this pre thinking - sometimes the actual packing process does not go smoothly - there have been times I get to my destination and wonder what I was thinking when I open my suitcase!

Hello to Laura - and Renee!

I didn't do exercises today, was kinda packing, or at least somewhat. Thinking mostly what to bring.

Deborah, Will you be glad one day to quit traveling so much?

There is so much to see in the DC area, will you be sight seeing, if time allows it?

Good job on your continued workouts. ;)

Glad the horses got out. Poor things. But, I'm sure you more than make up for it when you are home.:)

We miss the connection with you as well. Perhaps later when things aren't so hectic with your job.

Shoegal, Good job on sensational. That is a fantastic step workout and lots of fun.

I always thought I wouldn't want to part with my treasures too. But, as I get older, and collected so much stuff, it's refreshing to get rid of some of that stuff. Seems I can breath easier after wards. I need to go through my stuff again and do more of it. I give it to the kids or Goodwill or another second hand store.

That's what I don't want to happen when I get to the boat. I'm going to really do this right, I hope. LOL:D

Soon your garage sale will be over and all back to normal. Just go with the flow until then. Enjoy, it should be a lot of fun.

See yas,

Janie

Last night I went over my sister's house and had dinner then to have my hair cut & colored. I got home after 9pm. I did PS: Chest, Shoulders & Triceps - I was happy that I got that in!! Rainy right now - Rex is all worried about the rain for tomorrow - but it will be fine. The neighbors already bought a couple things - so if anything we got rid of some things and made a bit of money already. :)

Everyone must be busy - Where has Laura been?

Janie - well - at the very least - we know that you have a handle on which bathing suits to take!! Also important - a cover up - PJs - possibly a robe - after that there is an assortment of tops and bottoms you'll need to put together - either that or sundresses. That will get you started but I'm sure you'll be fine there - at the very least there is probably a gift shop on board and ample opportunities to buy thing when you dock!!!

Hi to everybody - hope you all have a great weekend!

Just got down with getting cleaned up after doing the Lowmax cardio premix. I took my break day yesterday and felt like a little step today. It felt good and went by pretty dang quickly.

Janie: I think the anticipation and getting ready for a trip is at least half of the fun.

Shoegal: glad the yardsale is off to a great start. The rain is supposed to be gone by later this evening around here, so you guys should definitely be good to go with the weather in the morning. Hope you all make lots of money so you can buy lots of shoes in Italy!

Shadowpup: sorry we weren't able to match our schedules this week. Sounds like you have been busy. Fridays are usually telecommute days for me. We'll have to keep trying. One of these days we'll hook up.

Sister: hope the school dance was a success today. I know you've got a long day today with multiple activities, so get a good nights sleep. Dream about what workout you will do tomorrow. I'm leaning toward a weight workout--not sure which though.

Need to go walk Ripken.
~michelle

Shoegal, Have a good time at your garage sale this weekend. I'm sure it will be more successful then you think.;)

It's always nice to get the hair colored and cut. How did it turn out?

Oh yes, I'm outfitted for bathing suits for sure. LOL:D

I'm looking forward to shopping at the ports. Will also take a couple excursions as well, maybe see an insect museum or butterflies, or perhaps a hike to see a waterfall while going on a very weary looking bridge. It's going to be fun.

Michelle, Good job on Lowmax Cardio.

Have to agree with you on anticipating the cruise. I'm so excited I just can't stand still!

Have a great weekend everyone,

Janie

Finished PowerHour about 30 minutes ago. PHEW! Had alot of stopping and starting trying to figure out the weight amounts. After doing STS, I thought: okay, I can go heavier on everything. Well, maybe not. Powerhour is definitely about muscle endurance so my weight increases were only slightly higher than before STS and a few were the same. And I'm back to really hating lunges again rather than just mildly hating them-I guess that's what a heavier weight will do.

Now to figure out what to do the rest of the afternoon. I still need to take my shower. I'm pretty stinky at the moment. Maybe a little work out in the garden. Not sure.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Yesterday was Rhythmic Step. Today was Power Hour. I wanted to do both yesterday, but I listened to my body. After an hour of step, my lower half was going "UGHH!" Perhaps it had something to do with dancing all week on a no-give, very hard gym floor. Like sister, I upped my weights in Power Hour. Nothing stayed the same for me. Some weights got increased by 5 pounds, some by 10. It was killer, but I loved every moment of it.

I've got to do "Yard-Max" today. But thats pretty easy. Mow what needs to be mowed and water the grass seed...the sections that don't need to be mowed! LOL. We are in desperate need of some precipitation. Very dry lately.

One busy week down, 3 more to go! At least I will be in my own classroom from this point on. Dancing is fun, but a week of it is more then enough for me!

Hope everyone is doing well.

~Renee

Morning, all! I am back at home for a few days - got home Friday evening and leave in the dark of the morning on Tuesday. I am really scrambling to get the house in order for such a quick turnaround, on top of all of the work activities piling up.... hope to come by later tonight for a longer hello. This trip will be a little lower pressure than the last few, thank goodness!

Today's exercise was the Low Impact Kickbox premix from KickMax. Wanted to do a low impact cardio plus some leg sculpting work and this premix was just the right thing. Love those leg drills at the end.

Went through some shorts and mini skirts ealier this afternoon with my DH and decided to let go of a few items that either don't fit anymore (too big) or I don't wear because I don't like. I'm getting another pile of clothes for sister and for ebay.;) Thinking I might work on my bathroom this afternoon--see if I can get that awful area behind the commode painted.

Shoegal: how did the yard sale go yesterday. Ya''l had great weather for it.

Shadowpup: welcome home. Take some deep breaths, play with the kids, and hire someone to clean the house.

Sister: sounds likes you had more fun with powerhour than I did. I'm thinking I might try the Pure Strength workouts this week.

Okay, got to go get the wet laundry out of the washing machine and put it in the dryer. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday.
~michelle

Ok so I still don't have internet access, and we haven't figured out why yet, so I am at my friends house for dinner and jumping on really quick to let you all I have missed you, I have thought about you, and I can't wait to catch up with you. I won't be able to spend time tonight, but hope to catch up soon.

I am doing well with the exercise, First week of Meso 2, I wasn't feeling worked during the workout with back and biceps but I was certainly sore from it the next day, yesterday was legs and definitely have serious DOMS!! I ran on Friday, Pilates and big mountain hike on wed, so things are back on some routine!

No workouts to update everyone on - But did Yard Sale MAX!!!! all day Saturday and Sunday!!!!!! It was absolutely brutal because it was FREEZING!!!! It didn't rain - but managed to snow a wee bit. I'm talking high 30's - low 40's type of weather. I stood outdoors all day long - on that concrete floor and froze my butt off. There were tons of people. Our first sale of the day - this gentleman came by the name of "Bob" very early - before 7 to check out the sale that was supposed to start at 8. He had a huge pile of stuff he was buying already set out when I walked down there. He bought nearly $450 worth of merchandise. Can you believe that??!?!?! Steady stream of people all day long on Saturday but the day wore on quite long and by 4pm I was so ready to go inside. We made $1465 on the first day. On Sunday the traffic died down considerably and we made about $400. I can in no way take credit for the magnitude of our sales - the stuff that made a beeline out of there was all Rex's. His years of flea market shopping and antique buying paid off. He sold stuff he didn't intend to sell because it was simply in the area and people were looking. None of my stuff went very quickly - in fact - the coffee makers didn't go at all and the stuff I did sell was extremely cheap. I thought someone would buy my purses - nobody wanted those. I sold some sheets though. Unfortunately, despite the great day we had - we had a bit of misfortune as well. Rex had his Ipod and docking station sitting out - he wanted to plug it in and play some music but the people were coming pretty quickly and he never got a chance. A little bit later - he told me that someone had stolen his Ipod. :( So - I suppose we'll have to get him a new one with our sale money but it put a damper on our day. Overall - our rewards were threefold: we made money, got rid of alot of stuff and enriched other people's lives with the items they purchased - well, supposedly. We thought maybe now somebody else could enjoy the items we didn't need any longer. :) At the very least - I'm glad it is over.

Sounds as if everyone enjoyed their weekend. I will get back to a workout this evening - I'm dying to. I'll check back in later for personals if I have some time.

Between the kick max leg drills yesterday and powerhour on Saturday, my body was still aching this morning. I was set up for Pure Strength but decided to do 4DS LIS and then the first stretch from Stretch Max. I really needed that stretch. Pure strength chest, shoulders, and triceps will be tomorrow's workout.

Shoegal: congratulations on the successful yard sale. Can't believe it was so cold up your way. Brrr. I'm wondering if you guys inadvertently sold Rex's Ipod and didn't realize it at the time (I'm trying to look on the bright side here). Sold or stolen--it's gone and that stinks.

Laura: good to hear from you, if only briefly. Hope you get your internet connectivity issue resolved soon. Sister and I also felt like meso 2 was less intense than meso 1, but you definitely are still working.

Been a bit quiet here on the check-in. Guess it is just a busy time for everyone. Keep exercising. Ripken and I will be here when you stop by to Get your Licks In!
Michelle

Ugh! Still no internet connection, waiting for Bo to have enough time to hike up to our tower and see what is going on!

Did my first Pilates class this morning, the regulars found their way back, which is always a good thing. Have one more pilates class and my Total Tone tonight.

Man my legs and deep glutes are still so incredible sore from Saturdays STS Legs! Guess those 3 sets really add up for all those squats and lunges! Hope it pays off to be in so much pain!! Always good to work that lower body, right girls?

Catchick: great thing about teaching is SUMMERTIME! Do you travel? Sounds like you made some great strides in muscle strength through STS 5 -10 lbs is significant!

Michelle: love KM as well. Those legs drills are killer and I think really help to balance out the smaller muscles of the hip/glutes and thigh as opposed to the bigger muscles used in squats and lunges.

Shoegal: THAT ROCKS you made so much $$$!:D Certainly makes all the time and effort worth it! A big bummer about the ipod though..

Shadowpup: welcome home! Looking forward to hearing more when you ge a chance, I think there was a story to be told about one of your horses...

Janie: have fun on the cruise!

Last night I did yet another Christi Taylor workout "Totally Cool Step." It was very enjoyable and I was able to keep up on all of the combinations - it was kicking my butt though and I was bushed afterwards! I was thinking that now for step I'm always looking at Christi because she is so much fun - and those particular workouts I've already used over and over because I like them so much. I have another bunch of workouts I've done once and have no desire to do again. So it is nice for me to think that those Christi purchases were a good thing for me and well worth it. It was also great to be able to move and push myself after several days of standing around.

I also got in a bit of cleaning last night. I had to push aside my usual cleaning habit on Saturday to prepare for our sale - but the house looked dusty and out of order and it bugged me. So I swept the carpets, dusted the furniture, wiped nose prints off the windows - that acutally felt good too.

Michelle - so many different ways to train your muscles - for strength, endurance, flexiblity - it is fun to mix it up and see how it effects you. I happen to really like LIS from 4DS - that is a super fun workout. I just finished up doing a round of PS - another fun one too.

Laura - I knew those students would come back - and I suppose you are getting back into your usual teaching routine -too bad about the internet. There was a huge storm in Pittsburgh & my girlfriend's power, phone, cable was all knocked out. She ran out and got a generator because she said she was tired of throwing away the contents of her fridge everytime the power went out. She lives on a dead end road and they are always one of the last people to get their power restored.

Janie - packed yet??? I'm going through my wardrobe in my head for my trip to Milan - that is coming up sooooo fast. On Saturday I'll be on a plane (well, hopefully).

Hello to Renee and Shadowpup.:)

Pure strength chest, shoulder, and triceps this morning. I've only done the PS series once before and my memory is that I wasn't too crazy about it. However, I think I will revise my assessment to a more positive light. I'm not sure why Cathe calls this Pure Strength because the reps are pretty fast and it's really more muscle endurance, but I was liking the pace this morning and I was happy with my work. It's not a real long workout (41 minutes) but it works everything pretty darn good. I'm sure I'll be feeling my triceps (again) later today.

Shoegal: So, I've been wondering if your trip to Italy might be affected some way by the volcanic ash that is wreaking havoc with flights into and out of Europe? You are giving some of Christi Taylor's step workouts such enthusiastic reviews that I might have to write down the ones you like and check them out.

Laura: happy to hear that all your regulars have returned to your exercise classes. Those STS leg workouts are great. Are you thinking plyo legs or squat rack for meso 3?

Hi to Janie, Shadowpup, and Sister!
