Getting Our Licks In!

Well - Hobi has been adopted. Last night Ryan and Melissa came to get him - they had bought him a new bed and were eager to bring him home. Surprisingly, when it was time to go, he immediately jumped into their SUV and made himself at home. I think he will be happy there - but I begged them to keep us posted on his progress with them.

I searched for something different to do last night and decided to do PS- Back, Biceps and Abs. I search all around for it - I knew I had it - and I did. I really felt it - and got a good workout in.

Getting ready for the garage sale AGAIN this weekend - so I'll be busy all day Saturday preparing. I'm actually starting to dread breaking down the set up. What am I going to do with the stuff left over? I'm hoping it all sells.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Ah Friday: break day, although I may do a stretch workout later this afternoon.

Had my yearly GYN checkup this morning. My NP said that I'm in perfect health. Sweet.

Janie: anytime is a great time to get a puppy. I'm happy you are going to have another: boy or girl?

Shoegal: it sounds like Hobie has found a very good home. I think it is a very good sign that he jumped right in the vehicle with them. He must have known this was his new family. You guys did a great job helping him to transition. Will you get another dog after your Italy trip? And how exciting for you to be going. Now you are guaranteed at least one pair of shoes. But then again, you are Shoegal, so maybe you better be sure to leave lots of extra room in your suitcase.

Laura: sounds like your neck and back are slowly getting better. Don't forget to do some good stretches.

Going to make the hotel reservation today for the Cathe roadtrip. Sister and I will be sharing a room. The feeling of anticipation is great. I'm going to check online for a place that does t-shirt designs. I want to get two sets of shirts done for the roadtrip: one that says "Virginia is for Cathe Lovers" and another that says "Getting Our Licks In!" with all our names on the shirt.

Sister: AC man come today?
Hello to Shadowpup.

Have a great day.

Did TBS with heavy weight again. It's good.

Shoegal, Hobi seemed to know where he was going then? He must have figured it out, that these people were his mommy and daddy. Awe, that is so cool. I'm so proud of you for doing that for him.;)

Great job on your workout, glad you found it. LOL

Michelle, So glad you take the time to check everything out. I usually do all that stuff around my birthday so I can keep track of it better. Seems a lot of people forget about themselves sometimes.

Thinking about another little girl. It will be fun again.

How exciting getting ready for Cathe's road trip. Wow.

Oh, I love the idea of a T shirt that says "Getting Our Licks In"! What a neat idea! I should look into that too over here. That is so cool!

Debroah
, How ya doing girl?

Janie

Hi, took the day off as my neck really did flare up yesterday and I was really tired all day. Looking forward to getting back home tomorrow and seeing a Dr and getting back into my routine. I do have to teach 3 classes Monday and I am concerned about that a little bit...;)

I have had a great time here in Atlanta, which is so beautiful now, and really enjoyed the 'cultured' life of broadway, country clubs, Center of the Puppetry of Arts, ect.. but am so tired from all the running around the town! LOL!

Michelle and Renee so jealous of you to going to Cathe!! How fun, glad it worked out despite the glitches! What is the cut off #? 100? If you do get a "getting your licks in" t-shirt can you can count me in for one as well?

Shoegal: glad Hobbi found a good home! I will miss hearing about him as well! I hope you have a good sale tomorrow!

Janey: we will be looking at puppies when we get home as well! I am still not ready but as the breeder is going to comp us a puppy we can't really turn it down...so we can trade puppy stories this summer! When is your trip?

Puppies! Puppies! Puppies! Janie, Laura, I am so happy for you :D Warm puppy noses, soft puppy fur :D:D:D little puppy alligator teeth on the ankle  You will both have such fun. Puppies are the best and most exasperatingly wonderful creatures, along with kittens and colts. What a wonderful stage :)

Michelle and Renee, it is great you will be there at Cathe! I think I saw that the cutoff was - 105? Something like that? Very glad you are both in. Definitely you can count me in with Laura if you want to do the tee shirt thing.

And Shoegal ... wow, Hobi gets his forever home now. You have done a wonderful, loving thing for him, helping balance out the hard times he had in the past and let him move on to a whole new life.

I have been reading a little more on our thread, in between getting a few work items caught up. It has been fun to see all the news. BTW, I'm having one of 'those' trips, where the flights are not exactly running as planned. Sometimes it is harder to get the one hour last flight leg home than to go clear across country! I arrived at the airport ten hours ago. But we are supposed to take off soon. I am hopeful but ... will believe I'm really going home when I get there, if you know what I mean!

Just finished dusting the upstairs and cleaning the bathrooms. I did the vacuuming last night, so I'm a little ahead of the game. I've already vacuumed the first floor, so I just need to dust everything down there and I'm good to go with the pollen/dog/people dust for another week. I hate dusting--I'd much rather vacuum.

Deborah and Laura: yes, the cutoff for the Cathe Roadtrip was 105 attendees with another 105 allowed on a waiting list. Hope you both get back home safe and sound.

Deborah: I believe that I have successfully registered on the president's challenge site and joined our group. I've been logging my exercise since about Tuesday or Wednesday of this past week.

Janie and Laura: new puppies this summer. You guys are going to have so much fun. Ripken gives this news a major tail wag of approval. He is also prefers girl dogs.

Getting Our Licks In! t-shirt: I did a little looking on the internet for an on-line site that you can design and order t-shirts from. Once I find somthing that I think seems workable, I'll let folks know. It might be easier for me to order 6 shirts and have them sent to each of us (if everyone wants one). More to come on this little endeavor.

Sister: first day of active recovery, although I feel like that started on Thursday, the day after our last STS workout. I'm going with the stretch from Total Body Stretching, Basic Step, a Core Max workout, and then a stretch from Stretch Max. At least, that's the plan right now.

Shoegal: How's the prep for the yard sale? Bet you and your DH have a busy day ahead of you. Great weather for doing it. I've got a bunch of stuff bagged up to take to the Goodwill Store today. Then I can start making a new pile!

Okay, enough procrastinating--on to the workout.
~michelle

Michelle - definitely count me in on a t shirt!!! And Yes - worked all day on our yard sale. It is hard to price - what does one want to pay for a coffee maker - barely used??? I don't know.

Laura - hope neck feels better - home feels good - no matter what. Super nice to get away and enjoy Atlanta - glad you had fun.

Shadowpup - goodness the airport - all those flights - I don't know how you do it!!!

Janie- we are looking to get a new foster puppy after Italy - but I'll be envying you and Laura - with sweet little ones. We get so much joy out of our girls - I can't imagine life with a pup in it.

No exercise today - but am going out shortly - worked too hard.

Laura, Sure hope you are OK. If I were you, maybe you should cancel classes? Don't want you to hurt more than necessary. :(

Seem you had a wonderful time in Atlanta. Good for you.

I'm looking forward to comparing our puppies too. It's going to be so cute, gives me fluffies in my tummy. :D

Deborah, Yeah, I'm looking forward to a wonderful time with a puppy. They have the breath of oatmeal you know. I will never forget that wonderful smell.:)

Sometimes flying just is not fun at all. Hope you get home soon.;)

Michelle, I'm with you on the dusting. Vaccuming is a much better job to do. :)

Tell Ripken thank you for the vote of approval on getting a puppy this Summer (middle of July).:D

Oh, I would love to know what you come up with on the T shirts. That is so cool!

Shoegal, I can't imagine life without a pup too. So glad we will be getting one. Yeah!

Janie

Ah puppies, so cute, fluffy and full of energy. I sometimes toy with the idea of getting a dog, but deep down I know I am a CAT person through and through. I was watching Animal Planet yesterday, and it said that there are 15 million more cats in US households as pets then there are dogs. What??? Then it went on to say that 37% of US households have dogs for pets where only 30% have cats. Huh? Then it went on to explain that people tend to have more then one cat. Uh, ok, I have 4 but some people have more then one dog too! I'd like to know how they come up with these numbers.

Today is the last day of my Spring Break. It has been a very relaxing week. I accomplished what I set out to do around the house. The next month at school will be very busy and hectic. Then the final month will slow down quite a bit. Only 2 months of school left and then summertime, summertime, sum, sum, summertime!

Yesterday I did Power Max. That is a fun step routine. Today I think I will do the step portion of Body Max 2, some abs and segment 1 from Stretch Max. I am trying to do some different step routines during active recovery week. I am gearing up for all those Cathe dvd's I haven't done since last year. Yippy skippy, hooray! I looked at some rotations on the forums and October 09 looked pretty intense. An undulating rotation. Hmm...

Every day do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow.
Doug Firebaugh

Have a great day, everybody!

Hi all,

Fortunately the third flight was in an airplane that did not need repairs, and I got in about midnight. I actually could have driven the distance in half the time I spent at the airport ... but then, it would have been in the dark, without my cell phone, on unfamiliar roads, and my return time would have been about the same given that I didn't know how much wait time was going to be involved! So probably for the best. This was in a place where I have friends, so I got a little work in and had dinner with them. Turned out to be fun and unproductive in an unexpected way.

Renee, I was raised dogs and always was horse-fixated, but now there is a cat who owns me and that's pretty special too! You might surprise yourself and love dogs - though the lifestyles are different and it can be a real challenge to intermingle the needs of the herd/pack/pride.

Michelle, Renee, it is terrific that you've gotten into the road trip. The tee shirts will be fun! What made you both decide to take the plunge and do this?

Michelle, since you had that recent compliment about looking like Cathe, the timing is really good to go. We will want pictures of you there! We are working out the final details of my trip next week. It got longer and added more people/locations/meetings, but still in/around DC for the most part. I need to firm up two things and see if the gaps I planned in managed to stay at all.

Renee, interesting noteon the cat populations. I'd also wonder how they count those rural outdoor cats. We have neighbors who support cats - that's the only way I can think of it. The cats live in their barn, don't like to be handled, and essentially keep down the mice. They periodically get vaccinated for things like rabies and they are spayed usually - but in no sense are they pets. They are working animals, more or less, like chickens. I think there are about 5-10 cats at any given time.

Janee, how do you make those anemone rings? That's what I wanted to ask about earlier. You are so creative. The oatmeal puppy breath - it is just fun to have them around. Summer is a good time to get a puppy! You will have the housebreaking done well before the weather gets nasty again.

Shoegal, it's good in a way that you are having the garage sale while Hobi is enjoying his first days with his new family ... letting go of many things all at once. For pricing, we used to go with best-guess and then lower the price of things at regular rates. I used colored dots on things so as not to have to rewrite the actual price so many times. In thinking about your decorating skills, I am imagining a garage sale that's been arranged to look like a beautiful home all crammed in one space, kind of artistically cluttered. Am I at all close? And another foster pup - very good! Very glad to hear you enjoyed this experience enough to do it again!

Laura, those neck sorenesses can last so long. This is from the accident, right? Sure hope it is something that will come right with rest. In your job, that's hard to come by. Atlanta sounds like it was wonderful. We've been watching golf on and off (well, DH is, I see it when I pass the tv) and it appears to be gorgeous there, with cascading flowers all over. What a contrast to all the snow you'd had at home, though am guessing spring is breaking loose now ...

I'm going to post this and come back to update you on personals, and finish the note to Laura, because I'm worried my post will go into the great cyber-bucket and be lost if I don't save soon!

We are having some exceptionally wonderful spring weather in Virginia. I guess mother nature figures we are due after all the snow this winter.

Today I did 4DS Lower Instensity Step, cardio premix. That's such a fun step workout and I love the music in it. Ripken was licking puppy on point. He has really learned just where to sit/lay while I'm working out so he is just within petting or licking reach. Right now, he is sound asleep at my feet. He was chasing something in his dream a few minutes ago. Silly pup.

Growing up, we always had a dog and a cat for pets. Sister has always been partial to cats and over time I gravitated to dogs. Sister keeps talking about maybe getting a dog, but I just don't know about that. Puppies/dogs are different from kittens/cats in lots of ways.

Laura: I'd be so bummed out if my neck/back were hurting. Seems like we all have those little bouts of boomeritis every now and again. It's probably not that easy to give up doing the classes since that means foregoing income--be careful and get those stretches in.

Shadowpup: welcome home. Are you back on the road this week or do you get a break? Seems like you've been scurrying from one place to another lately. The kids must really be missing you.

Sister: nice job on the workout today. It's been a while since I've done a body max and I think I more recently did the orgininal body max, haven't done BM2 in a while. I'm enjoying the active recovery time.

Janie: how many days before your cruise? It's soon, yes?

Hope everyone enjoys the remainder of their weekend.
~michelle

Renee, Joey is a cat lover too, but I'm a dog lover through and through. Not that I don't enjoy kitties, but I'm more connected to doggies.

Yeah! Only two more months of school, then enjoy Summer. Any plans for this Summer?

Good job on your workouts by the way. Enjoy the Oct. 09 rotation.

Deborah, Midnight is sooooo late from getting off the airplane. So glad you enjoyed your friends and made it home just fine. It's nice to be unproductive sometimes.;)

Look up sea anemone paper rings on the internet. There is a tutorial on how to make them. Very interesting to watch. Of course they are using paper beads, but the rings can be made of regular beads as well. They are fun to make and fun to shock people. People don't know whether they like them or not, but eventually, they seem to want one.LOL:D At least my sisters did, so I gave them some of mine (I had a few), except for the crystal one I was wearing at the restaurant.

I can't wait for an oatmeal breath puppy. You only get that aroma while they are little.LOL:D;) I agree, having one in July would be perfect to get for all the reasons you said. Every time Joey and I go out somewhere, I'm looking at puppies that go by. They are so adorable.

Michelle, We are having great weather here too. I just weeded the asparagus bed. Already they are coming up. One is already 6 inches long. When I get back from the cruise, we should be having them everyday for awhile.

You and Ripken are doing so good on the exercises. LOL:D

7 more days before I go on the cruise. Joey doesn't want me to go on the computer. He says to just have fun and don't worry about computer stuff and enjoy the many unusual things the cruise has to offer. In other words, go on vacation! He has a point there. So, you may not hear from me until I get back. Then watch out, I'll have pictures, events to talk about, and all the fun I had. Maybe I should put all that stuff on a blog. Yeah, that's what I'll do.

Have a great day everyone,

Janie

Finished with the preparation for the yard sale - finally we are getting to the selling part - still have to advertise - anybody have suggestions on how to advertise? Going to place an ad - put up a couple flyers - anywhere else? Is there a place online?

Renee - I'm both a cat and dog person. Love both. I always say people who don't like cats never really had them. They are too sweet not to like. DH though is definitely anti-cat - so doesn't look like there are any sweet little kittens in my future. Enjoy the different Cathe workouts out there!!

Michelle - the yard sale prep has taken me away from cleaning - did some dusting upstairs but none down - and no sweeping either. Bummer - I like to get all my cleaning done on Saturdays - hate to do it during the week - but what choice do I have? Howie (my sister's pup) had his 1st birthday yesterday complete with a doggie cake, presents and a little party. Boy - time flies!

Janie - the cruise is sure coming up fast. Are you all set to go? Excited? I agree with Joey, I don't think you should worry about the internet or checking in - just enjoy yourself and go with the flow. But we will sure miss you here!

Shadowpup: you are correct - started to decorate at the sale - had a chest of drawers I accessorized with a lamp - thought it looked more attractive to buyers that way. I put a picnic basket with the bikes to make it look like a pleasant recreation outdoor section - and we plan on putting a cutting board and wine bottle out with the barrels we are selling. Yes - I know I'm a geek but you are right - it is nice to clean house and get rid of things. I suppose you have to be in the right frame of mind. When I moved in I wasn't ready to get rid of the things I couldn't find a place for - Now I want to purge myself of nearly everything and be uncluttered and free from things - except from seasonal decorations. You haven't told us about the flowers coming up - how do they look?

Laura - let us know how your neck is doing! Glad to be home?

Off I go to work - hope everyone has a great day.

Happiness is active recovery week and good long stretches. This morning Ripken and I had a great walk--we've decided this is optimal mommy and puppy walking weather--and then I did the first and third stretches from Stretch Max. It felt oh so good.

We've got lots of dignitaries in DC for the next couple of days for the Nuclear Reduction Talks. Lots of roads are blocked off and the traffic lords were warning that traffic today and tomorrow could be horrific. Actually, traffic this morning was nonexistent. I don't know if people are telecommuting or what, but my commute was super.:)

Shoegal: Sounds like you are ready for a yard sale. Since yard sales are pretty much local events, you probably want to advertise in your local paper and put flyers up around your neighborhood. Don't know about posting it online. If you put an ad in your local paper, wouldn't it be posted online as well? Something to check into, I guess.

Sister: Back to school today--how did it go? What is your exercise plan today?

Janie: one week to your cruise. I'm with Joey, ditch the computer and enjoy the cruise. We'll be here when you return.

Shadowpup and Laura: where are you guys?

~michelle

Did TBS yet again. Joey really likes that one. For me, I'm ready to do something else.:( When I get back from cruising we will for sure.

Weeded the asparagus bed yesterday.

Have been giving lessons to Joey on how to give a shot to Winkle. It isn't going to be easy for those two. Winkle meows and Joey is uncertain.:(

Joey told me, while I was gone for my mother's furneral in January that when he gave Winkle his shots it was very hard. Doctor Dan (our son) would hold winkle while Joey gave him the shot. Once, Winkle somehow escaped from Joey and Dan in the middle of his shot and there was the syringe stuck to him. Reminded Joey of a bull being stabbed with a sword and walking away while it (the sword) was tangling from the bulls back. Not a pretty sight in my minds eye.

They are just going to have to manage without me somehow. Joey says if things get too hectic he can always go to the vets at least once a day to have them give Winkle his shot and try his hardest to give the last shot himself. I hope Winkle survives this.:(

Shoegal, I'm learning from you about garage sales. I'm thinking we need to do that as well. Sounds like a lot of work.

I am sooooo excited about the cruise, but worried about getting sea sick. I have patches, anti nauseous pills and ginger candy all ready just in case.

Michelle, Looks like you are very happy with active recovery week. You need it, continue to enjoy with Ripken.

Sounds like it's very busy with the Nuclear Reduction talks. How are they going? Glad the traffic was not so bad and instead good.

Well, it does sound like I should just enjoy the cruise as it is meant to be. I can't wait!:D

Have a good Monday everyone,

Janie

Hi Guys! Back in Colorado! Took Friday and Saturday off and did Step Jump & Pump, minus the ab work yesterday. That is one hard workout for sure! No one came to my class this morning :( which happens after I leave for awhile, so hopefully they come back soon. but I have one less class to teach today which might be a good thing for my neck! The girls and I see the Dr tomorrow!

I just caught up on personals, and sounds like everyone is staying on track with their workouts!! I am going to leave off the personals as I have gotten so behind!

Still reading Sherlock Holmes on the ride to and from work. Good stories - very interesting that I didn't want to stop and thought I could perhaps finish before I arrived home. Well - the ride gets kind of bumpy when we leave the highway and I usually stop before then. So it made me sick. When I got home I laid down thinking the feeling would go away pretty quickly. I had to go put up signs for the yard sale with Rex - so we went out and posted a couple notices around the area. I still felt sick to my stomach but it wasn't terrible. Well after I got home - long story short the feeling never went away and I didn't work out. I feel fine now - but upset that I missed my workout. :(

Janie - I'm sure Joey will get the hang of giving shots to Winkle - he just needs more practice and more time.

Michelle - sounds like you are really enjoying active recovery week!! Stretching sounds good to me too and of course - nice long walks - rain here today - lots of it - it is pouring out.

Laura - when I would teach classes - and they would run for a number of weeks and then end - the last couple nobody came to - sometimes one person!!! They will come back - tell us what the doctor says.

Hello to everyone else - will definitely work out tonight!

Did TBS today. Joey just loves this one.

Laural, Awe, no one came to class? Darn. Do you remind them that you are back?

You did good on your workouts.;)

Let us know what the doctor says about your neck.

Shoegal, Motion sickness leanger on and on. It takes it's sweet time going away. Poor thing. I'll be reading Holms on the cruise. Hopefully I won't get sea sick.:(

Thanks for the encouragement for Joey. I wonder why it's so difficult for him?

Janie

Feels so good to be back at STS and a Meso Cycle 2!! Yippee! I didn't feel like my body was quit as worked as Meso 1 but maybe that active week really did make me feel stronger? My last two classes went well with the normal amount of people in them and same as today. My neck feels ok but looking forward to the Dr today

Shoegal:Ahhh so sorry you got sick, I always get sick when I read in the car!! UGH no fun, glad it passed though!

Janie: what is TBS? You have been doing it a lot so it must be good!

Hi to everyone else out there!

I think TBS is Total Body Stretching, but I could be wrong.

Speaking of stretching. I did quite a bit of it (for me) yesterday. I did Core Max #2, Stretch Max #2 and Total Body Stretching #3. I felt like I really needed it. First day back to school and the PE teacher and I have teamed up to do dance this week. Not bad if we were on nice floor...but nope, its concrete slab with a fake "hardwood" top. Terrible on the feet. I felt like someone had whacked my lower back with a 2 by 4 by the end of the day. Core Max and stretching was EXACTLY what I needed. Today, my schedule was different then yesterday, and I only had one "dance" class. Tomorrow I will have 6! Oh boy! I'm taking different shoes, with gel inserts to help me thru the day. Its fun though. Friday after school we are having a school dance (fund raiser) so there is a reason for this madness. LOL!

This evening all I did was Low Impact Step. 40 easy and enjoyable minutes. I will probably do the cardio premix to LIC tomorrow. Love the music and the moves and I will definately need something with that special flair to keep me going after all that dancing. Mind you the dancing is fairly simple, since it is kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth and fifth grade. The older kids like to do stuff like Hannah Montanas "Throw down, Ho down" and line dances. I'v been teaching a super fun line dance the kids love for almost 20 years. I call it the modified slide, but its just a goofy side 2, 3, 4...other side 2,3,4 repeat, then forward 2, 3, 4, backward 2, 3, 4, (Repeat) then a 4 step turn step to each side and then 4 back and forth steps and then repeat that. Kids love it! Its fun, and I get to pretend I'm teaching aerobics. (Giggle) I also get to dress like a gym teacher, so its fun.

Janie, I can understand why Joey finds shot giving hard. It can be intimidating at first. But he just needs practice. And its what the kitty needs, and must be done. They will both be ok.

Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
Willing is not enough; we must do.
