Getting Our Licks In!

Hello everyone -

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter. The entire weekend - very very busy. Saturday we set up for our little garage sale. I began gathering things, cleaning things - going through boxes and boxes of stuff I had brought with me when I moved in and never unpacked. Found my pizza stone!!! I thought I had left that back in my apartment when I moved out - I was totally bummed about it but I had it all along. Actually we have some decent things for the sale - 2 coffee makers - practically new - 2 toasters but honestly, I kept thinking - who is ever going to buy this crap??? I feel like just giving it away along with a cash gift for my gratitude that you actually came and hauled it away. All I know is that I wouldn't want it. Afterwards we did a home visit for GSP rescue and evaluated the couple looking to adopt Hobi. They are a lovely couple and their other dog is well taken care of. The 2 dogs seemed to get along well. Hobi has a vet appointment on Tuesday then he is free to be adopted. We think this is possibly the best place for him.

Easter was chaotic - but fun and loads of work. I left my house at 7 in the morning and didn't come home till 10 - I was bushed. All of the pups were mega tired too - none of them wanted to get out of bed this morning. Hobi was hysterical at my Mom's house - he would lay down in the middle of the living room, in the middle of the kitchen, in the middle of the hallway - he just found the least convenient and most crowded area to set himself down. All of my nephews and nieces fawned all over him and appeared to be rather content to be the center of attention. He also appeared to be cat sharp - caught site of the cats on the back porch and was definitely on edge about it.

Janie - sounds like your birthday was wonderful - and Shadowpup is right - you and Joey look like a great couple. It was a nice picture of the 2 of you and you looked like you were having loads of fun.

Michelle - I tried to get Rex interested in cleaning off the deck and putting our furniture out - I thought perhaps it was early but the weekend was very beautiful and warm - I was excited about it. He said he wanted to stain the deck so we decided to wait.

Renee - a whole week off!!! I'm jealous for sure. Well - enjoy yourself - hopefully you'll have wonderful weather and can enjoy the outdoors as much as possible.

Shadowpup - tried to log in today for the Presidential Challenge and couldn't remember my username or anything!! It took quite a bit of thinking before I came up with it - whew!! I wrote it down - I think I'm good now.

Laura - Hope you are enjoying yourself - sounds like you are -just check in every once in awhile - when you have some time. Must be a nice change of pace.

Ok - off to do some work. I think I'll sleep extremely well tonight!

For a moment, I thought the Cathe site burped because this screen wouldn't come up. But here we are: STS disc 35, plyo legs--it is history. Thank goodness. It was the first week of plyo legs all over again and it is definitely the tougher of the plyo leg routines for me. My hip flexors have been talking to me since I finished. Have to get up and stretch--sitting is going to be hard today.

Shoegal: I hope you all got rid of alot of stuff at your yardsale. They take lots of work. DH and I managed to get the windows, screens, front porch, and porch furniture cleaned up. Our back deck needs to be power washed and stained again too. THAT's a big job. Easter sounds like it was great for you and your family. I'm glad that Hobi had such a good time. He sounds like he has adjusted very well.

Shadowpup: maybe I read the directions incorrectly. So, I have to sign up as an individual first. Geez, I don't think the Presidential Challenge site makes that very clear. I will give it another try. Thanks for helping out. BTW, are you coming to town next week? And how are your equine children?

Laura: are you in Atlanta this week? You should have an absolutely beautiful week. Enjoy!

Janie: Hope you had a great weekend. You and Joey are starting a new rotation this week, if I'm correctly remembering.

Sister: Did you get your screens and windows washed? Going hiking or bike-riding this week?

~michelle

Well Easter was wonderfully over the top for the girls. Their great-grandmother is the very definition of a Southern Genteel Woman and she put on the sweetest party ever for little kids. It was every children's dream of what Easter should be like. We also went to brunch at the Country Club and there were plenty of Easter Eggs to be found around the house as well.

I just entered in all my activities from my ski trip, and although I really wish I had not wrecked my car at all, the timing was fortunate in a way, as I don't have to teach for 2 weeks which is a very good thing and I wasn't planned for lifting, so I don't feel like I am getting to far behind. Lots of fun skiing, snow shoeing and X-country with my family last week and then Friday my neck was all jacked up so I took, Friday(packing cleaning), Saturday (travel) Sunday (Easter) off. My neck has setteled back down a little so I decided to take an easy jog today. just under 3 miles. at a slow pace. I brought some KB tapes but thinking that throwing punches might not be a good idea yet so might stick with running and the elliptical instead.

Michelle: yes beautiful, beautiful here, the spring is a little retarded from the cold winter which is perfect as last time (2yrs) we were here we had already missed the bloom for Easter but this year it is just starting! The pollen is really bothering me this time, which I don't remember from my childhood, maybe it is just arriving into the full force of it? Yikes getting nervous about those plyo legs.

Shoegal: garage sales are so fun to go to, but not so fun to do! There was some great recipies in March issue of Clean Eating for pizza's that you might want to check out now that you have your Pizza stone. I want to get one to, we eat a lot of pizza with the kids and it would be good to make a healthy one I don't have to feel bad about serving them. I hope Hobbi will love his new family!

Shadowpup: ok I have not signed up yet, ,my computer died during my ski trip and I didn't have my charger with me, but I will do it this week!!!

Hi to everyone else!

Hope everyone had a great Easter. Joey and I did The Firm Vol. 1, Susan Harris. It was good.

Deborah, I make sea anemones rings, usually out of paper but this one was out of crystals. It's a lot of fun. Had to wear this outrageous ring for my sisters to see their reactions. LOL They liked it so much I gave them one (made out of paper, but very unique, and not at all what you might think). Love this kind of stuff anyway.:D

Michelle, Morning walk on Easter sounds terrific. Waching life go on, is really nice especially children having fun.

I also need the password for the presidential challenge thingy.

Hope everyone is doing okay in their world. Take care.

Renee, Great job on STS and cardio. Insanity is great! It's OK to get away from Cathe now and then, but your right, it doesn't sound quite right. Why is that? LOL

We must have your weather and you must have ours. It has been very dreary here. Not at all normal at this time of year.:( Enjoy the weather we sent you.;)

Michelle, This year in June, Joey and I will have been married 19 years.

I have had that experience from time to time.LOL Just mean you are working very hard.

Enjoy your Spring cleaning.

Laura, Spring Fever is here. Love this time of year too.

Deborah, Thanks for the info about the President Challenge . I'll try to log in today sometime.

Shoegal, Did you make any money this weekend with your garage sale? Sounds like a very busy time for you.

Hobi sounds like he will be with a great family. Good for him! He has such a great personality.

Michelle, STS legs is very hard. You are doing such a great job on it. Keep up the good work.

Joey and I won't be starting a rotation, but just picking from our never ending supplies of workouts. We'll have fun.:)

Janie

Hi everyone! I see all kinds of interesting news ... garage sales and sea anemone rings and adoptions and clean houses and all kinds of STS. Very badly want to comment and ask questions, but I'm disciplining myself to only ten minutes online to update here and on fb. That's because I have a high pressure talk tomorrow, and a panel, and I need to agonize over my slides ...

So as to sleep well I did STS Legs today. Meso 2, week 3, and I increased the squat weights a smidge as well. That should do it :) I will be much more normal when we get to Wednesday

Last night I did Christi Taylor's Solid Gold Step - had practically no trouble with it - did the first 4 combinations - blew through them like I had done them a thousand times before - it is mega amounts of fun and frankly - I was kind of tired. Whew!!! Then she had added some little segments with other instructors working other body parts - so I did something with the resist a ball - then did the abs portion.

I was going to put Easter stuff away - and then decided that I didn't want to. I'll do it today. I like to flawlessly and quickly transition to the next holiday or to just get it back to normal or to the next season. Nothing is worse than leaving a rotting pumpkin on your porch or leaving your Christmas lights up till July. :D Well, there are worse things - but I'm a bit anal about it anyway.

Shadowpup - you are so disciplined - limiting your time online!! Hope your presentation goes well.

Janie - Garage/Barn sale isn't for 2 more weeks - Rex felt that we ought to really prepare - which is why I'll be fretting about it for the next 2 weekends!!!

Michelle - it is nice to get those chores done - too bad they never stay done - it just feels like I finished cleaning off the deck when I have to put that stuff back out there!! I love watching the things come up in my yard - I love that about spring. Please give a report about your impressions of STS and what you have gained from it - I can't wait to hear. (Renee - you too!)

Laura - your Easter sounded heavenly!! Yes - baby your neck - I wouldn't do any KB workouts either!! You definitely don't want to injure yourself anymore. It sounds wonderful there - sorry about the pollen - that is one thing I don't really have too much of a problem with.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!:)

Cardio Core Circuit today...whoo-wee! Thats a killer after Plyo legs yesterday. The last plyo...and it was incredible to say the least. One last sts workout, then a cardio, then recovery week. Then onto those Cathe workouts I've been missing. Yippy!

Trying to motivate and do the yard work which consists of spreading grass seed, fertilizer and lime is a few places that has massive moss invasion. Grass seed in those areas will have to wait. Yesterday I mowed and got things ready. And its gonna be a HOT one today in central Virginia....well, yippy d---m skippy! Fun, fun, fun.

Michelle and I are planning on the Cathe Roadtrip this year. I am so excited. I will be on the computer Thursday at 1:45 waiting, for the 2:00 registration opening. Sister and I were discussing how much Aleve we took during meso 1, much less in meso 2 and even less in meso 3...until this last week. Good golly miss molly. Interesting to see the effects are similar for the both of us.

I guess this is almost mid-point for Spring break. So far, so good.

Hope everyone is doing well in their worlds.

~Renee

Well, my body is really feeling the joy of the last week of meso 3. Yesterday, my hip flexor muscles were cramping all day. Finally worked through that. This morning I felt pretty good getting up, walk with Ripken was good, then hit Athletic Step. I've had a little nagging twinge in my left heel that became a bit more vocal this morning right at the end of the workout. I actually put ice on my heel for about 10 minutes which helped and then I popped an Aleve. After weights tomorrow, I may go straight to active recovery with a good stretch on Thursday and forgo MMA Kickbox. We'll see how my heel feels.

Everyone seems busy and content--must be springtime.:)

I just finished Hiit Pyramid for the first time, I babied my neck and limited the upper body motions and then I did Travel Fit. I thought I had grabbed a band but I couldn't find it so I had to use my ML's which was to short and to stiff for some of the shoulder exercises so I dropped a few of them. I wasn't expecting the little cardio in their but it seemed like a good workout to me. I will probably just jog tomorrow again and maybe do one of my ML's Challene Turbo Jam workouts the following day, she only uses weights up to 4 lbs so it will be gentle. I am looking forward to getting back to STS though. My abs felt super weak today..

Janey: I noticed your ring as well! I loved it!

Shadowpup: I need to limit my on line time as well! Hope you have a good speech.

Shoegal: got to enjoy those decorations for a little longer!! What is next? The 4th of July?

Catchick and Michelle: how in the world can you guys be done with STS!?? Wasn't it just yesterday ya'll were doing 1RM's!?? How fun to do a Cathe road trip! Maybe one year we can all go and meet in person?

Hi all - went well, had a packed room with overflows into the hall! I'm glad I prepared. It is always a rush when a big room like that focuses on you and really starts to think about what you are saying ... Did a panel this evening too, two hours on stage with some pretty high powered people. Tomorrow will be all at the same meeting, but less to do since my hard part was today :)

Well, I'm pretty worn out now so am going to bed :D

Went to dentist today and will garden tomorrow. Also will do some form of weight training, possibly MM.

Joey and I were talking and decided to get another female chorkie (something part something and small) after I get back from the cruise. Is it OK to be excited?

Deborah, I hear ya about wanting to ask questions and have no time. When you do have some time and not a high pressure talk the next day, half at it! LOL Great job on your workouts.

Shoegal, In two weeks time, you will have everything in order, I'm sure. Great job with Christi! You are doing really good.

Laura, You did good. Keep up the good work on your exercises. LOL, I loved making that ring. It's so big and bold, and it shocks people.LOL

Deborah, Wow! An overflow into the hall. You are good! Wish I could have been there.

Have a nice rest, you deserve it.

Hello everyone!!

Took Easter down yesterday - managed to get it all down and put away - but didn't get everything else back out. I have to finish messing with the items I display on top of the kitchen cabinets. Some look good - having some difficulties with the dishes I put up there - the white ones look so blah - I'll get it right - just need more time to do it. My goodness what gorgeous weather we are having here and the lady bugs are invading the house yet again.

Hobi went to the vet - he is all up to date and ready to go. We spoke about taking Hobi to his new home by Friday - he has come such a long way though - I am really sad to see him go. He has changed so much in the weeks we have had him - he is a wonderful puppy. I will really miss him.

Last night I did the Total Body Sculpt premix from Low Impact Circuit - it got late (took me awhile to put Easter away) and LIC was still sitting out - it is quite an active sculpting program - it was getting my heart rate up there!!! I will probably do Christi Taylor again tonight - just loving those step workouts!

Janie - I couldn't miss the ring either - Beautiful! My mother had given me a spider ring and bracelet one year to wear on Halloween - your ring reminds me of them. What are you going to do out in the garden? I love watching things come up. Hope things went well at the dentist!

Laura - I was just thinking of looking up the next holiday - Mother's Day - Memorial Day (don't really decorate for those) yeah - I do decorate for the 4th -so the house will be back to normal for awhile. I have a couple of new decor items that need hung - I have been nagging Rex - he's like - no -no - when the weather is good outside he doesn't want to come in!!!

Shadowpup - glad to hear the talk went well - sounds intimidating - but we all knew you would do well. What did you talk about?

Michelle - I'm amazed at how quickly STS went too - did it seem to go fast for you?? Thinking about boating yet?? The weather is so nice now.

Ok - off I go - need to get started here. Hope you all have a great day! :)

Drum roll please: STS is done! And now I am ready for active recovery week. Has STS made a difference. I think so. I'm lifting heavier weights in all exercises and last night my husband gave me a wonderful complement. He said, "You are starting to look like Cathe and I really don't want my wife looking like Cathe." Uh-huh, right. That's his way of saying I'm exercising too much. Made me feel good even though that probably wasn't the response he was after. I told him that I just had one more day of STS and then it was active recovery week. I don't know if that worked or not.

Shadowpup: I'm not surprised you had an overflow audience for your presentation. If you do presentations as well as you converse with us here on the forums then you probably are mesmerizing at conferences. And goodness knows most conference speakers are not all that great at public presentations.

Laura: yup, done with STS. Travel Fit sounds like a good workout for active recovery week. I haven't done that since my trip to NOLA in January. Thanks for mentioning it.

Shoegal: you crack me up: decorations up, decorations down, decorations up, decorations down. It's like a workout rotation. This month you have Earth Day (22nd) and Arbor Day (30th), then May Day. Do you do any of those or just prepare for Memorial Day? Total Body Sculpt might be another good workout for active recovery week although we are not supposed to lift. Dang.

Janie: how exciting, a new puppy! How sweet of Joey to give in to the urge so quickly. You were thinking it might take him a while.

Sister: You indicated that you were going to splurge and go get pizza when you finished STS--will that be tonight? How's the yard work going? Don't forget, registration for the roadtrip tomorrow at 2 pm.

Hope everyone has a great day.
~michelle

Ah, its so nice to put STS on the shelf for a little while. All done, and daggone proud of myself and sister for this accomplishment. Joe, Michelle's husband, makes me laugh! To be told "you're beginning to look like Cathe" has got to be the greatest of all compliments ever!! Tomorrow is MMA:Kickbox and then an active recovery week.

This week has been fairly laid back. I got all the mowing, grass spreading and fertilizer down. Tidied up here and there, clean a room here, another there, a few cat boxes, and just plain chill out. I have been craving pizza, so that is hopefully in the works on Friday. Tonight I had a yummy steak, half a baked potato, green beans and a salad. YUMMY! After making such progress with my fitness and my "diet" lifestyle, I am not about to revert back to the old "bad" ways. Its only onward and upward.

This should be the last HOT day. When the AC is on the blink, one is thankful for the last HOT day to soon be over. The repair guy should be by tomorrow, so when I really need the AC, I will know it works.

I plan on revisiting STS in August, and to complete another 3 and a half month rotation by Thanksgiving. Still considering Insanity, or a mixture of Insanity with Cathe is more like it. 60 days without Cathe is like going without oxygen, I just can't do it. LOL

Shoegal, Sounds like a kinda Spring cleaning. Lady bugs already? I've been missing our hummingbirds, they are usually here by now. Hmmmmmmm

I'm so happy for Hobi. Finely a forever home. He deserves it.:D Yeah!

You did great on those workouts. Good going!

Too rainy today for gardening. Darn, I need to plant some plants.

Michelle, Congratulations to you and your sister for finishing STS! Well done. Husbands, Hmmmmmmmm. Don't get it sometimes. He didn't realize how wonderful that compliment is. Wow.

I convinced Joey that if we leave for our Fall trip in Sept, then I need to be able to potty train her before we leave. And she needs her shots. That all takes time. It will be better to get a puppy in July or August, there is so much going on before that time. Then a month to train her, that should be enough time.

Renee, I bet you are so glad to finish STS. But, I bet you also see lots of improvements. Enjoy your active recovery week and beginning with MMA Kickbox, you are still serious.;)

I love how you phrase "diet lifestyle". May I use that? That's perfectly said.

Janie

yesterday I decided to try MMA KB and see how it felt on my neck, I definitely babied my neck and held my punches back a little, surprising how much the arm work increases the cardio impact. I heard somewhere sometime a go that arms are up to 30% of your cardio capacity. I felt ok, modified some of the ab work and didn't do some of it at all. So today I was going to jog but it is raining so opted for MMA Boxing, not such a good idea, my neck and upper back really are sore now.:( I had a feeling as I was doing it that it wasn't such a great idea, but as I got into the workout it felt better but now much worse! Can't wait to see the DR!

Shadowpup: congrats on the talk! Sounds like it was a big hit!
Janey: oh a puppy how fun! Of course you should be excited!
Shoegal; Michelle said it all! A decorating rotation! All year every year!
Michelle: I think that is the best compliment ever as well! Why do men not like beautiful muscles on woman???
Renne: yum! Enjoy that pizza, you earned it!!

Sister and I are officially registered for the Cathe Roadtrip--YEAH! She was number 85 and I was number 98--whew, just made it.

This morning was a stretch day: 1st routine from total body stretching, 1st routine from core max, and the 1st routing from stretch max. It felt so good.

Now, I need to go do my happy dance.
~michelle

Holy moly, talk about butterflies in the stomach. It was 1:50 and I'm clicking on the link to go to the registration page for the Cathe Road Trip. Finally get in at 2:01, phone rings, its Michelle. She can't get to the registration page, I try to register myself, 2 times unsuccessfully, 3rd time it worked. Michelle still can't get on from work. So I register her from my computer. She gives me all the vital information. I get in at # 85, oh god, please, let sister make it in...she opens her confirmation e-mail...#98! BIG release of breathe! Two very happy sisters indeed! AND that is the reward we get for all our hard work. Good karma! Good something, I don't know what, but thank goodness we made it! YA-HOOOOO!

I did MMA: Kickbox today. It was a blast. Felt really good. Tomorrow is "rest" day, and maybe some pizza too!

Not so hot in central Virginia today. Mid 70's instead of high 80's, low 90's. I haven't heard from the AC guy yet, but I'm no longer sweltering. Very brisk breeze, cloudy, and rain is on the way. Need the rain, so my grass will grow. Downside, if it grows, I've got to mow, but at least it won't be patchy red clay splotches...that is if it grows. LOL

Now I've got to call my Mom and tell her the good news.

~Renee

Logged in twice - wrote down some stuff - had to close the site twice to get some other things done. So third time is the charm.

Michelle - I consider the comment to be a compliment as well - definitely. I would kill to look like Cathe so Congratulations!! I am very jealous that you are going on a Road Trip!!! Hope you both enjoy yourselves. It is so nice you both love Cathe together and you can share this experience.

Renee - Pizza is my absolute favorite food - I could eat that any day of the week, twice on Sundays. I don't have it very often - think I will look into the clean recipe for pizza Laura suggested - a good way to have some without the guilt.

Janie - Oh do get a puppy!!! I could not imagine life without my girls - I love them so. I am feeling a little low about letting Hobi go :(:(:( - what a sweet sweet boy. We called the new family and they might come this evening for him. I really don't want to see him go.

Laura - I'm sorry about your neck pain - I really hope that heals quickly for you so you can get back up to speed - you need more time though - so as hard as it is (believe me I know) - just be very careful! I think I actually like my house decorated for the season than undecorated. When I took the Easter down - I thought it looked so unfestive. I agree - we should all plan on a Road Trip together one year!

Shadowpup - Just a big hello out there - How are the time management goals coming along - haven't seen an update?

Well - new development: After a bit of discussion yesterday Rex and I decided that I could go to Italy too!!!! At first I was hesitant - I really didn't want to wander the street of Milan alone while DH was conducting business. But turns out - it would be only be a day or so that he would be busy and another co worker is bringing his girlfriend along - so now I'm going!! Well - let's just say - that is what it looks like right now - it could still change.

I did Christi Taylor Solid Gold Step combos 5-8- it is one of her "combination platters" (her name for a premix). I know I say this all the time but LOADS of fun. It feels like dancing. Not sure what I'll do tonight - thinking about finishing up 1RM. But we'll see.

Planted today, no cardio.

Laura, So sorry you are having problems with your neck and upper back. Darn! Let us know what the doc says.:(

Michelle/Renee, Yeah! You both made it! Congratulations for being able to go on the road trip. That's fantastic.

Good job on the workout today Renee and enjoy your rest day tomorrow.

Shoegal, Life is very strange not having a doggie around. I miss that so very much. But, in the middle or end of July, I will have a puppy.:D

Awe, I know you are going to miss Hobi. What a gently little soul. I'm even going to miss hearing about him. Darn!

Italy, Oh My, how wonderful. You are going to have the time of your life ENJOY!

Great job on Christi. I better do one in the next couple of days. You have inspired me to do one. LOL
