Getting Our Licks In!

A couple of days of workouts to catch up on, I believe. Yesterday, I wanted to do something fun and familiar, so I opted for the Double Cardio premix from 4DS. HIIT 40/20 will have to wait a little longer. This morning was STS disc 20-Legs. Oh boy, what can I say--these STS leg workouts really get me good. Here it is only 12:30 and I can feel my leg muscles singing. I had so much fun with the double cardio workout from 4DS tomorrow, that I may stay with my walk down cardio memory lane for the week. We'll see.

Went to a birthday party yesterday for our neighbor's one year old son. I think the adults had a better time than the one year old. It was nice to have an afternoon yacking with the neighbors, talking about silly things that happened in our Circle during the snow storms.

Janie: I think Land's End and LLBean also have tankinis with skirts. Their designs are a little more traditional IMHO. I kind of like the selections in BP and Talbots. I know there is a Talbots in Seattle downtown--pretty good size store. Don't know if they carry swimsuits though. If you are going to do mail order, you probably need to start doing so to allow time for sending back and exchanging for dislikes, likes, and sizes.

Shoegal: hemming curtains--sounds like a good famliy/community activity. And you got Rex to do some honey dos. Sounds like a successful weekend to me.

Sister: I'll be calling later today to see what's up with your results. ((((HUGS)))) Love you!

Hi to Laura, Shadowpup, Ironlady.

Well, they didn't have my pathology report. Should be in tomorrow, so, I have no clue if its good news or bad news.

BUT, I did go see my GP and she decided it was time to go off the blood pressure meds! Hip hip hooray! 2008 I was pushing 200 pounds, I am now 135! Much better diet and life style. So, there's a positive. My doctor said I was the "poster woman" for making positive life style changes. Diet and exercise does work.

I did STS legs today. Poured buckets! It was great. I am sure I'll be feeling it by morning.

Janie, I need new swimsuits too! The one I got last year wasn't fitting that well by the end of the summer, and I know right now I'm already at least 15 pounds less from summer time. And by summer time I am sure I will have lost a few more pounds and inches. (Thanks STS and Cathe) I might have to look at the sites sister suggested too. I like tankini's, but not frilly things. Very much the "sporty" look for me.

The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

:(:(:(:(:(Sad day for me! I have had a very unexpected sadness. My beautiful Puppy, not yet even two, has been feeling blue and emitting a very bad oder. My DH took her to the vet and we got some very unexpected news, she is dying of kidney failure. They don't know why! Bo called me as I was walking out the door to teach my classes this evening and I am in shock! I called him between the two classes but didn't reach him. When I was leaving the girl at the desk told me he had called and the Emergency care said if she was to have a chance she would need to stay there for the next 5 days. So I thought that sounded like there was a chance, but I just spoke to Bo and he said we were looking at $5,000-$9,000 which we simply can't do. He was trying to get a line of credit when I spoke to him and now I am in the horrible place to have to try and talk 'sense' into him over something I am heart broken about. But we are in no position to even consider this kind of expense. AND they don't even know what is wrong....She is such a beautiful animal and so young and how can I explain this to the girls. Why does an animal come into your life for such a short time..that mommy was the one who said put her down...Oh so sad and heart broken and confused...

Joey and I did BBL High & Tight and BBl Tummy Tuck. It was really fun! Hard though.

Shoegal
, I know what you mean about being home. I'm a homebody my self. Sounds like you had a great time with friends and family. How did you get them to hem up your curtains? Oh, I'm just the exact opposite. I don't like to clean at all. But I do because it looks good when it's clean. I wait until I just can't stand it anymore.LOL:rolleyes: I think you have a hubby there that loves you.;)

Michelle, Great job on your exercises. Glad you had fun with the neighbors, it's always nice to visit. Bet you had a lot of different stories from the snow storms experiences.:) Good advice on the mail order. I think I may have got my swim suit picked out. It's from Spiegel. It's really cool. Let me see if I can get a link for you to see, then you can let me know how you like it.

Renee, Your pathology report will be good news. Let us now though OK? OMG! You were almost 200 pounds? Congratulations for all that weight loss. High Five to ya! That's an incredible feat. I'm so very impressed and proud of you for doing all that work. Wow! And another congratulations on getting of the high pressure pills. I've never heard anyone getting off them before. You did good. Buckets of sweat is good during your workouts. Good job.

Laura, Oh dear (((((hugs))))). As you know my Molly had kidney problems too. It's really an older dogs problem. Poor little dog. I'm so sorry you are caught up in a situation like that. I wouldn't be able to pay much either. I don't think many people can. It just seems like so much. Talk with your girls and try to explain how difficult it is for you. I'm sure they'll understand that's it's not your fault. Sometimes doggies get sick and there is really nothing you can do about it. So sorry you have to go through this. It's such a shame.:( Wish I had better words to give to you, if Shadowpup were here, she would make you feel so much better.

Debroah, where are you? Do you realize how important you are (I'm sure I can speak for all of us) to us? Well, let me tell you. You have such a gift for words and making people feel wanted and bringing out our knowledge to share with each other. Your caring words give a lot of meaning to the soul. You have a way to let everyone know how important they are. I know you are traveling for 9 days, and I hope (from what I heard the last from you) that you will continue to be with our group. I think the 9 days must be just about up. It just wouldn't be the same without you. I'll stop the mushiness now, cause I just don't have the right words to express it fully. But, I think you know what I'm trying to say.

Talk later,

Janie

Laura - Oh - I am so very sorry. I can't tell you how much this saddens me - Maggie is still so very young - just a puppy - how could this happen???!!??! A coworker's pup died just recently from kidney failure - he was in the same situation and could not afford to keep his pup at the vet for a week - it costs so much!!! I could see how much pain he was in - and it must be exactly how you are feeling. I have no great wisdom to give you but I am praying that God helps you and your family through this. Big (((HUG))) this group especially knows the heartbreak associated with the suffering of a dear family member - we are all thinking of you and I am, again so very sorry. :(:(:(:(:(

So it has been a roller coaster ride for sure. Last night when Bo got home around 11pm he said that it might be treatable disease. So we got hopeful again, than this morning the vet calls and said she was not responding to treatment. They also discovered that she was only born with one kidney and that is malformed. So it looks like we will be putting her to sleep tonight!:(

So sad...

Well just to check in with my workouts briefly..

did end up doing a stretch day on Sat. 2 routines from SM. My body was really needing that as it was pretty sore and tight, did not do legs

Sunday did SC KB which I have to say I am liking more each time I do it and this time I worked up a good sweat.

Monday 3 classes, and very sore especially my legs today, which I don't understand as I didn't work them that hard, but man I feel them every step today.

Tuesday: pilates class and D #10 Chest, shoulders, & biceps, and Stability abs.

sorry I haven't done personals but I have read everyones posts and it sounds like everyone is rocking on with their workouts/

A Pet's Prayer

If it be I grow frail and weak,
and pain should wake me from my sleep,

then you must do what must be done,
for this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand,

don't let your grief then stay your hand,
for this day more than all the rest,

your love and friendship stand the test.
We've had so many happy years together,

what is to come will hold no fears,
you'll not want me to suffer, so,

when the time comes
please let me go.

I know in time you too will see,
it is kindness you do to me.

Although my tail its last has waved,
from pain and suffering I've been saved.

Do not grieve that it should be you,
who has to decide this thing to do,

We've been so close, we two these years,
don't let your heart hold any tears.

It breaks my heart yet its the right thing to do. My beloved "Noodles" had to be put down 2 summers ago. It was awful, I still grieve. He was my "soul kitty." Prayers and hugs Laura. I don't have kids of my own but I am sure its hard. My kids are my cats. Feel the hurt, but one day you'll be able to move on. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Today was STS disc 16 Chest Shoulders & Triceps. Later during mid afternoon I also did Cathe's Wedding Video. I had to, need to lose some extra pounds. I'm losing too, so that's good.

Laura, Renees beautiful poem says it all. Prayers your way, sweetie. Great job on your exercises, especially in this trying time.:(

Renee, The Poem says it all. I'm sure this will help anyone who had to put to sleep one of their pets.

I cried so hard in memory of my Little Molly. I did the right thing for sure. Thank you so much for this.

Take care,

Janie

Well on Monday I did Jillian Michael's Winning by Losing - I'm still not sure if it is called that - I can tell you that Winning and losing are somehow in the title - apparantly - there is a whole little series of videos by her that goes by that name - works different body parts and there is a KB workout. So I was interested in this. I have never done anything like it or by her and this particular workout focused on the lower body. She started off by doing high intensity moves to warm up - and counted everything out - we are going to do 30 butt kickers - 30 jumping jacks - 10 of this - 20 of that. The exercise would end - and we'd move on. The body of the workout - was in the same fashion - we are going to do 20 of this - 10 of those - then we'd repeat the entire section again. She did some compound weight work - moved relatively fast - and did not leave enough time to change weights. She said to use light weights - I chose 5's not knowing anything about the program - but even if I wanted to increase the weight for another exercise she really didn't leave alot of time to do it. She did jumping jacks in the workout - along with weighted bicep curls. So here I am jumping up and down and trying to curl by biceps with 5 lbs - I had to go to 3 lbs and in my personal opinion felt it was an uncessary and unsafe exercise. When it ended Jillian got up - said we were done and started to laugh :confused::confused: - she told us we did a good job and that it was a tough workout. Roughly 23 minutes had passed. 23 minutes!!!! I will not say there wasn't merit to this workout - but over the long haul I wouldn't continue to use it as my sole lower body workout. There isn't enough there to feel like you worked the entire lower body long enough or hard enough. Her beginning speech was motivating though. I will attempt her upper body workout this evening but I expect more of the same. I wonder what her 30 day shred is like? Hmmmmmm?

Last night I did Amy Bento's Advanced Step Challenge III - fun!!!! I have to say though - again - I get bored if she spends too much time breaking down something I know - Combo 1 - she took way toooooo long. When I got to combo 4 - which I still don't perform properly it is like I forget I'm exercising because I'm concentrating on learning the movements so hard. I love feeling like that. So when this ended - I was rather disappointed. I wanted more!!! I plan to do it again on Thursday.

Janie - did you just do the step portion of the wedding video? PLUS a weight workout too - wow - you are really working hard!!!

Laura - the thing is - with pets - you know going into this that you'll outlive them but during their lifetimes the joy outweighs the sorrow. There is comfort and solace, I believe, in knowing that you gave her the best possible life she could have had. She had a wonderful life sharing in the love and joy of your family - you made her short 2 years the best 2 years. At least, that has helped me through this. I'm thinking about you - and sending good thoughts your way. Keep up with your workouts - that will help.

Renee - lovely poem -I think of my pups as my children too.

Laura: I am just heart-broken for you. Maggie is such a beautiful, sweet, gentle dog. You have given her two years of living in puppy paradise--the long hikes in the mountains, the joy of two girls to play with, and a family who loves her dearly. Great big (((((HUGS)))))) to you.

Michelle

Thank you so much everyone! Renne that poem was perfect, I read it to my DH and he cried. He always takes on the responsibility of making the last call very very hard. So we went down to Boulder yesterday afternoon to go see Maggie, and to tell the girls (who have been staying with my mom during the school week). She was so sick, she hardly could wag her tail when she saw me. I sat with her for 45 minutes as Bo talked to the vets and looked at the ultrasound. It turns out she was born with only one very deformed kidney, there was absolutely nothing we could do for her. She was such a beautifully formed dog in every other way, a show quality puppy. Thank you Michelle and Shoegal, we are trying to focus on the wonderful life we were able to give her for her short time on earth. The vet is convinced it is the only reason she hung on as long as she did. He had heard of situations like this but had never seen one personally, usually a puppy with such a huge deformity, would never make it out of puppy hood. The breeder we bought her from offered to give us another puppy, it might take up to a year as she wants to give us another "Maggie" quality puppy not just the first girl dog she gets....

So I tried to ski today but just could not get into it. I missed my friend, running late, by a few minutes, literally saw her getting on the lift as I was walking up, waited for 4o minutes and got supper cold just standing there, finally decided to warm up with a run, didn't have a great run, the snow was supper hard which isn't great for telemark skiing, came down still didn't see her went to the bathroom and was going to call it a day, as my legs have been and still are supper sore from my classes on Monday. (SERIOUS DOMS) but decided may was well take a few more runs as I was there and geared up. Ended up catching up with my friend took a run together and decided to bail.

I don't know what is going on with my legs, remember how I took Saturday off of STS legs? I stretched instead so I thought they would be feeling better. I didn't do a heavy leg day on Monday by any stretch of the imagination (especially compared to STS legs) but they have been so sore yesterday and today...any insights?

Have pilates class tonight.

Thanks again for the support through this sad time ((((HUGS))))

Oh forgot to mention that we went and got the girls and let them decide wether they wanted to see Maggie to say goodbye. They did and so we took them and had a wonderful, beautiful, loving and sad time with her. The vet hospital was very nice and gave us a nice room where we could be alone with her and we all sat around her loving her and petting her....the girls wailed and wailed her name as we left, heart breaking, but I think it is good for them to express their grief, and afterwards they felt better. Eliza sad she had let her sadness out and she no longer needed to cry,.

Did STS Disc 23 legs today. Whew! Still going strong.

Shoegal, I rented one of Jullian's workouts, and I really couldn't get into her style. She seems arrogant, bossy, somehow street smart I guess. I'm not used to that kind of personality. I only viewed it, but that was enough for me.

Good workout with Amy.

I only did the step portion in the Wedding Video. Sorry, it did sound like I did the whole thing. LOL

When it comes to a good energy day and workout, I sometimes don't want things to end to soon too. LOL

Laura, Awe, just not the same these days is it? I'm sorry. I'm still thinking of Molly and when the UPS/FedX man comes, I go and try to stop Molly from barking, but she's not there. Hits me right between the eyes, the realization that she's gone.:( Hopefully you will do better than I have.

Wish I could give you insight about your legs, but I'm stumped. Let us know if you figure it out.

I'm glad the girls decided to say their goodbyes to Maggie. Such a bitter sweet and sad time. Rest In Peace Maggie girl.

Janie

I paid better attention and the name of that video is called "The Biggest Winner" - there are 4 to 5 workouts she does with that name. The 2 I did work the front and the back. So all the muscles of the back I did on Monday - all the muscles of the front I did yesterday. Circuit type workout - counting out the reps of each exercise. Only lasted maybe 30 minutes - she moves too fast in my opinion - nothing wrong with quick reps - but sometimes there isn't enough time to fully execute the movement - especially during the lunges - way too fast!!! There are bursts of cardio in between the weight work - doing mountain climbers - jumping jacks - this time trying to lift weights up over my head while jumping. I put down my weights then - no need to do jumping jacks holding weights!! That is a recipe for disaster - what instructor will have you throwing/ flinging weights around? The only option really is use tiny weights for this entire workout - she transitions sooo super fast - there is little time to change weights. Alright I have the same complaints all over again with this workout. Jillian is goofy - when she talks sincere - I like her - but when she gets silly it is too silly and I've had enough.

Janie - you keep going on those weight workouts - way to go!!!! I agree Jillian seems to be arrogant and bossy - I don't think I'll be looking to purchase any more of her workouts. It was interesting to try but I can see why my sister got rid of those DVDs.

Laura - Your description of Maggie's final hours was very touching - I shed some tears reading that. I think you did right by her - she went peacefully and with her family around her. Your girls sound like they have wisdom way beyond their years . . so mature for Eliza to tell you she let her saddness out and didn't need to cry anymore. It's a lesson for all of us not to hold our feelings inside- just let them out and move on.

Shadowpup - Where are you ???? Can you still be on the road - well - we are certainly missing your special way with words. Come and tell us what you've been up to!!!

Hi out there to Michelle and Renee !!!!

Did Insanity Max Interval Circuit. OM!

Shoegal, Jillian's DVD's does sound awful flinging weight while doing jumping jacks. My Lambs! But it didn't stop you from exercising, wished it could have been better for you. You are lucky you didn't hurt yourself. Stay safe.

Renee, Did your test results come back yet?

Will come back later to hear more,

Janie

School is going great, and keeping me very busy these days. It won't slow down until mid-May. I'm getting my first graders ready for their April musical. Its a whirlwind to say the least.

My results were NEGATIVE! Yes, lets all do the happy dance. Its just scarring of the gum tissue from when my wisdom teeth were removed years ago.

Next hurdle is a mammogram and an ultra-sound of a bump under my arm. Again, my doctor doesn't think its anything but a lymph node or a veiracose vein that may have popped. OK, but lets make sure...yippy skippy.

One week left of meso-cycle 2. I'm loving this meso-cycle. Its very challenging but very fun. Today I did Step Moves...so much fun.

Laura, I hope everything is going OK. Kids and especially animals are my major weakness and major love of my life. Sounds like you are the same way. I know your Maggie is healthy and whole, wagging her tail, waiting patiently for you at the rainbow bridge.

Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.

A co worker is embarking on a new career and is leaving the company - DH & I went out last night to wish him well along with many others from work. I had 2 really really good Cosmos - the best I have had from anywhere in such a long while. However - I did not work out yesterday evening because of them. But I knew that going into the evening. There is still time to make this up with a good thorough workout this evening.

This check in has been awfully quiet lately - I hope it isn't winding down :( - I really like checking in with everyone - it is quite helpful for me. Perhaps everyone is just really busy right now or spending all spare time watching the Olympics. There is lots going on - that is for sure.

DH and I took Scout out to the vet this morning for a visit - she has been yelping when jumping up into bed - and has actually had to pull herself up into the bed or has been hesitant to jump into the truck. She had torn out her ACL before and had surgery some years ago - so we thought we would have her looked at again. We thought perhaps trying to run out in the heavy snow has brought on some of the pain poor Scout has been feeling. The Vet said there isn't anything with her ACL - favors it slightly - doesn't know what is wrong but says whatever it is - it isn't serious - and we could just wait and see - this could all just clear up with some rest and restricted activity. So - both Scout and Dot are here with us at work.

Renee - glad test is negative!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!! We need some good news here.

Janie - Insanity Max Interval Circuit - oh my is right!!! Is this still part of the rotation you are doing. Sounds tough!!! Well - I wasn't sorry I tried Jillian - though I don't think I will willingly pull it out very often.

Laura - hope you are getting along alright - Are your legs feeling a bit better??? Not sure about the soreness - you have been working them really hard lately with STS & all that Skiiing - perhaps you should maybe go a little easier with the weights - I wouldn't stop all exercises completely but I would train around it a little bit.

Hello to Michelle and to Shadowpup - And Ironlady - hope everyone has a great day!!!

Hi everybody. It's just been one of those weeks. After my meetings at Quantico yesterday, I was so mentally exhausted that I didn't check in.
Yesterday was MMA Kickbox. It was the first time I did the workout and I hadn't previewed the dvd so I just went with the flow. Liked the workout alot and I'm sure that I will like it even better once I get that 3rd combo down. Love the challenge of learning a new routine.

Laura: you and Bo must be doing something right because your girls handled Maggie's passing with incredible integrity and honor. The breeder sounds like a good person. I hope you all take her up on her offer of another puppy. I think the best way we honor our pets who are no longer with us is to continue to give loving homes to another pet. Ripken agrees.

Shoegal: hope Scout is feeling better. Maybe she has a little arthritis and the cold weather is aggravating it (is Scout older?). It's terribly distressing not to know what is bothering our pets. If only they could talk to us. At least you can take then to work with you. Do you and your husband work together? It sounds like you do.

Janie: are you still doing that crazy rotation that you posted? I have to admit, that rotation looked a little scary to me. Do you think you will get another pup?

Much of the snow has melted here in Virginia. Walking Ripken has become fun again because I don't have to worry about huge frozen ice flows on the sidewalks. Neither one of us is slipping and sliding. I'm hoping the yard dries enough by Sunday that we can remove some of the tree branches that broke off from the snow. I guess if stuff freezes overnight, we could gather up the limbs in the morning before the ground thaws. I just don't usually motivate for yard work that early. I wouls also like to start assessing what needs to be done to get the yard back in shape this spring.

Shadowpup: where are you?

Sister: can you say "ahhhhh, break day"?

~michelle

Today was SC MMA Fusion and Insanity Cardio Recovery. I just didn't have a lot of strength today. Everything was so hard! Tomorrow is my rest day. Maybe that will help.

Renee, My sister is really busy with her first graders too. So much to do as a teacher. I just had no idea.

Oh, I'm so glad that your tests came out negative. Our prayers were answered. Now to pray again for the bump under your arm. (((((hugs))))). Try not to worry.

Good job on Step Moves. I like that one too.;)

Shoegal, You planned on the Cosmos, so enjoy, and just get back into it the next day as you said. Good for you.

I agree how this check in is quite. I'm missing Shadowpup, Ironlady, Elle. Also the others that dropped out.:( Hopefully it will get back to normal soon.

Sure hope Scout feels better soon.

Yes, I'm still doing that rotation. I'm almost done with the second week.

Michelle, Do you think Shadowpup left us?:(:(:(:(:( I sure hope not.:(:(:(:(:(

Sounds like you are doing really good on your workouts.

I'm thinking about looking for another doggie when I get home from the cruise. I promised Joe I would wait for a year before I get another one, but that would be this Fall. I'm missing a doggie around. Wonder if I could possibly talk him into one before then. We'll see.

Yard work does sound like it will be in my very near future. Especially when it comes to gardening.

HI Everyone!

I didn't post yesterday. I had a rough day and just couldn't bring myself to exercise or anything...:(:( I did teach my Pilates class in the morning and everything seemed very hard...;);) I meant to wake up early and make up my workout but slept in...:eek:;) So I had clients all day and than picked up the girls and drove the hour home. After unloading all the stuff from the car I did manage to motivate for Disc #11 Back and Triceps and it actually felt REALLY GOOD to workout! I didn't think of Maggie once and really got into the work. So that was good.

Tomorrow I will do legs and I also have my refresher for CPR and then down to Boulder for a hair cut and partial highlights and out for dinner with my mom and the kids and DH at a great restaurant in Boulder. Me and the girls will stay the night with mom and she is going to take us to the Natural History Museum in Denver. She went with a friends of hers and is really excited to take us there. She is really spoiling me and the girls with all this Big City cultural stuff! LOVE IT! I think I will take Hardcore Kick Max down with me to do on Sunday morning before we leave...

Shoegal: I am so happy to hear your review of Jillian's workouts as I have been curious of them. I have seen lots of people on SP mentioning her workouts and that had peaked my interest, but now I can pass on them! PHEW another workout I DON"T want. Thank goodness! I sure hope your puppy feels better soon!

Janie: well I am not surprised you felt tired with TWO hard cardio workouts in one day! PHEW! When is your next cruise? Do you have a breed of puppy in mind? I know what you mean about expecting your Molly to be around, still very hard for me...

Catchicks: My new FB friend! :D Doing a happy dance for you about your results! Sounds like another round of fun for you in the near future! Good luck and don't pass out on us again! (((HUGS))) Wow only one more week of MESO 2?? I am still in Meso 1....

Michelle: your work seems busy lately! Is it a seasonal thing? Thank you so much for your compliment, we are blessed with our girls they are extremely sweet and special. Most the time we do the best we can and hope we are doing minimal damage! LOL! I did SC KB again this past weekend and really enjoyed it. I was luke warm to the first time but now that I have done it a few times I like it a lot more.

Well I hope Shadowpup didn't leave us!;)
