I get it. If one has to focus too much on breathing and catching one's breath, then focus on the actual weight training is taken away. And it can increase the risk for injuries. I love the endorphin rush from cardio myself. But with aging, I now focus more on the benefits of weight-training. I still like some cardio though for heart health and endorphins, so 20-40 minutes gets me my fix. I seldom go longer unless it's an outdoor hike, bike, etc.I don't know how to explain it, but my ability to focus is hindered to the point that I know I'm not getting as much out of it as someone that can focus better during that type of workout. When menopause hit... my focus got even worse. lol So, I really like to stick with focusing on one thing (cardio vs. strength) at a time to guarantee I'm getting the full benefits from my workout.
