Fatloss Check In May 2013

Happy mothers day weekend ladies :). I was supposed to do STS D3 legs yesterday but it was thunder & lightening so I decided not to be handling metal weights for an hour in the middle of it. I'm glad I did because I did the workout this afternoon and it was so much more pleasant than my usual late-night workouts. Plus when she said that's the end of STS legs, stay tuned for the conditioning drills, I actually stayed and did the drills. Had it been last night I would have skipped it. I think I'll keep to a Mon, Wed Sat schedule. I felt a LOT of fatigue in my forearms, I guess they need to be built up a bit. I tacked on stretch max, 1st section with no equipment. That really is my favorite cathe stretch. I also like the one at the end of turbo barre.

Tina bummer on no leg DOMS. I guess I didn't realize how bad your DOMS were last week. oddly today the only time my ankle barked was when I was stretching! I hope you're getting in some good rides this weekend :). what do your kids do for you for m-day?

Hi Shereta, how's your half training going?

Candice, turbo barre lower body premix would be a good hotel room workout for next week. How have you been this week?

Hi girls

Sorry I've been a little absent this week! It has been a very long week for me...lots of overtime at work (almost 50 hours total worked this week...not a lot to some people I guess but my standard workweek is only 38 hrs so it felt like a lot to me!) and also prepping for my trip!

Still really trying to focus on my eating/diet. I struggle w/ it so much. Anyway - I'm checking in today/last few days with...Horizontal Conditioning, Yoga Relax, and (!!!!) The FIRM Total Body Time Crunch. IDK why I picked up the FIRM today. I just felt like it. Now I kind of know why I love Cathe so much though!

Anyway, I decided on a rotation for next week! M/W/F will be one of the 10-minute HC workouts along w/ 45 minutes of Leslie Sansone (I downloaded one of her w/o's on my Amazon Prime) and the Tues/Thurs will be 60 min of Ballet Beautiful. I'm kind of excited. This week, with my easy rotation, I have actually been craving MORE workouts which I am totally loving that feeling!

When I get back from Chicago I am going to start one of the LIS rotations. :)

Hi girls

Checking in today with ...I'm not sure! I may take the day off...I was planning on getting a quick w/o in but I am feeling very tired so I might relax, especially considering the long week I've got ahead of me!

I am very proud of myself! So far today I've eaten NO GRAIN/BREAD products!! Which is great :)

Hope all you girls are having a wonderful mothers day

I hope you all had a nice mother's day, as a mom or for your mom. My surprise was a pair of bib style cycling shorts. The weather was a wash out, so I didn't get a chance to try them out. DH and I ended up doing STS M1D4 and medicine ball abs. It was the first time we tried the partner portion of MB abs and we both cracked up when Cathe says to Lorraine, "what, are you trying to kill me?". We had a few near misses with the ball toss too. We've decided that cycling is what keeps us together, cause too many basement workouts could easily end in divorce.

Eating was so bad today, I didn't even try to journal it. I plan on being better tomorrow.

Candice, good luck on your trip. Check in if you get a spare moment. : )

Good evening ladies. Last week I made some blender workouts to take some the dread factor out of cardio for me. The rule was the workout had to be 30 minutes or less & not include any moves i dislike. Today I did one I named "One Easy Tabata": warm up, frog jumps, three jacks + tuck jump, squat digs, air jumps, lateral hops, ice breakers, three jumps + turn, pop squats, apple pickers, high knee jog, recovery blast one, stretch. apparently I like to jump & squat :). that workout comes in at about 20 minutes. The only problem is the chapter transitions aren't in sync with the 20/10 timing so sometimes the rest was longer, a couple of times there was no rest at all. But I can see myself coming back to that workout whenever I need a hiit.

Tina I have massive DOMS from legs yesterday. I've slacked off leg work since I finished M3 in January and I'm really feeling it now :). I'm glad you had a nice day, I'm sure your relationship will survive whatever workout gets thrown at it :). I hope you get to try out those new shorts soon!

Bon voyage Candice! Congrats on going grain-free today.

Fembot- yay for new workout clothes! You're comment about basement workouts cracked me up too!

Sue- great job on making the blender workouts. I'm really finding that "owning" my workout schedule is getting me great results. And it is SOOOO nice that cathe has such variety so that it enables us to do that!

Anyway...checking in with a quick 20 minute circuit workout from The FIRM...I needed something light and easy lol. Next week ill be breaking from Cathe but when I get back the last 2 weeks of May will be spent in LIS overdrive! Goal is to work thru each non-yoga non-cycle DVD 2x, plus alternate YM and YR every day so that I can earn the "Om" badge on LoseIt! (You get the badge by doing 12 yoga workouts in a month and I want to earn it in May!)

I will check in with you girls this coming week!!

*hugs*

Yall, Im so sorry I've not been faithful at checking in. I just cannot spend too much time on the computer. MFP is working for me right now. I"ve never had a problem working out. It's the eating right that has always been my struggle.

Shereta, don't even stress about it! :) We miss you but I understand where you are coming from! Glad to see you've been successful w/ MFP...I myself am finding success w/ LoseIt so that is great!

Checking in tonight from Bloomington, Illinois...after a VERY long day of traveling, from about 5 am to 4 PM...I unpacked, relaxed a bit, grabbed a desert (oops) from TGIFridays along w/ a strawberry chicken salad (only ate 1/2 of each, thank goodness!) and then back to the hotel room for Workout 1 of my Travel Rotation...45 minutes of Leslie Sansone (3 mile walk plus I added 2 lb hand weights and more intensity so it was a great workout really) and also an HC workout. I'm proud of myself for putting in almost an hour even after such a long and exhausting day!

Hi ladies! Disk 4 chest, shoulders, biceps for me today. Lower DOMS, they've gone to the can't sit down or stand up w/o extreme discomfort stage.

Hi Shereta - so glad MFP is working for you. I did well for two months but now can't seem to get my eating inline with weight loss goals. my inner brat just wants to be fed!

Candice you should e proud of yourself for sticking with your plan after a long tiring day :). I hope this week goes great for you.

Hi Tina! how are you doing?

Good morning ladies. Yesterday was Kickbox Surge and the leg conditioning drills from KM in the a.m. and a chilly bike ride in the p.m. Doing STS on Sunday has thrown off my schedule a bit. Today I plan on STS legs, disc 6. I might throw in some barre work at the end. My legs are feeling overdeveloped in the quad area. Not from biking, but from EATING. I'm having issues with my inner snacker lately. Life just seems so hectic right now.

Candice, nice work squeezing in a workout after a long day of travel. Isn't the first day exhausting? I hope you're able to enjoy the city this week. : )

Sue, I hear you on the DOMS. I still can't get over the case I had after TS recently. It seriously hurt to sit in a chair or squat to pick something up off the floor for a few days. I'm really enjoying that we're doing STS at the same time. I'll need your encouragement when we get to Meso 3. : )

Shereta, nice job keeping up with MFP. My scale reads so much better when I keep faithful to it.

Hi to Addie, I hope you're doing well. : )

hi ladies! my cardio today was a walk, roughly 2.5 mph. I woke up this morning around 4 and I could get back to sleep, making it 4 hours sleep. I've been a little zombie ish all day. I decided to concentrate on my sugar grams today and it wasn't easy to stay away from the stuff. I got through dinner keeping sugar in check (32g), but just had to make myself a home-made Reece's peanut butter cup, that put me 7 grams over. I'll try again tomorrow and hopefully I'll be better rested do I can gauge how it's affecting me mood and energy wise.

Tina I can't wait to be your cheerleader in meso 3, not sure if I like that one or meso 2 better. it might be a toss up. meso 1 is super challenging for me but I'm doing better 2nd time through :)

Candice how is the windy city treating you? I hope you're enjoying yourself even if it is a work trip.

Waves to Shereta & Addie :)

hola :) no workout for me today, should have been back/tris but it's storming & my weights are metal. I'll fit it in tomorrow and then do legs on Saturday. I hit my sugar number today, right on the nose (32g). there may be something to the no/low sugar thing because I haven't had any cravings and even easily said no to donuts and brownies, like I wasn't even missing anything. we'll see how long I can keep this up. have a great thursday ladies :)

Good morning, I hope everyone is off to a great start today. I'm doing my day in reverse, so no workout this morning. I plan on meeting DH for a bike ride tonight. Yesterday was Athletic Training and a short ab section.

Sue, great job on the sugar intake. My biggest downfall. Kudos to you for being able to keep it in control! : )

Hi girls!! I'm checking in from Chicago...tonight is my last night here...YAY! :) :)

I am SO EXCITED to be going home. I did not realize how much I would miss my home, boyfriend, kittens, friends, my own desk & office...everything. The air in WA is so much cleaner...boy, I am so ready to fly in to Seatac tomorrow. :)

I have done well with my workouts...jet lag has kind of affected me, and I have felt very crappy the whole time here...very dehydrated and kind of stiffy and achy. It's so weird because I haven't really eaten *that* bad...I've been under 2000 cals each day, with carbs around 200 g/day and I haven't pigged out or eaten much different than I would have anyway. So that is another reason I am eager to get home. I also have not slept well and I think that has affected how I am feeling.

My work stuff is going well but I have not made many friends on this trip sadly - the younger girls seem kind of stand-offish when I told them I don't drink and some of the older ladies here, I overheard them talking about me while waiting for the shuttle. I think one of them was making fun of me for talking about how I brought my workouts with me on the trip...how rude. Oh well. I guess you can't please everyone huh?

Thankfully I have done each of my workouts as planned...Ballet Beautiful is on the schedule for tonight and then tomorrow is a Leslie workout along with HC. I am LOVING LOVING LOVING my HC workouts!! I don't know what it is about them but I love them so! I'm also excited to start my Cathe rotation when I get home on Saturday :)

One big thing I've noticed is that....I think I am really off on my nutrition goals - I was kind of trying to start with a modified Atkins/paleo diet when I got here and also the day or two leading up to my trip...well, those diets encourage a lot of fat consumption. I think part of my problem is the half and half I've been putting in my coffee...and the bacon and sausage and eggs...it just seems so heavy. I don't think my system is agreeing with it very well. When I get back to WA it will be lots of light salads with summer fruits, iced green tea, outdoors, Cathe (of course!!) and TONS OF WATER!! My hotel does not have water available for free (I can get it from the bar but that's very inconvenient to walk all the way to the bar each time I want my water bottle refilled) and it is $3.50 a bottle to get it from the mini-fridge and I don't have a rental car....and the tap water here is DISGUSTING (seriously). Anyway, it will just be good to get home. And good to eat some whole foods. :)

Sorry I haven't posted much girls but I have been so busy and tired/feeling crappy. Hope all is well :)

Hi Ladies,

I just re-joined WW for the ....well many times. Anyway, I was wondering if you would mind if I joined in on your thread? I have about 20-30 pounds to lose, love Cathe and am in the middle of tri-training for 2 upcoming triathlons later this summer.

Thanks,
Diana

Hey ladies :). I got day 5, back and tris done today, feeling good & hoping I get some DOMS out of it. tomorrow will be cardio, not sure yet what I'll choose. I've kept my sugar under control today & again no cravings and it was easy to stay w/in my calorie budget. I went shopping tonight and bought some zero sugar almond milk which will replace the cows milk I've been making my protein drinks with. That will give me a little wiggle room to bring fruits back in. I'll just have to use more protein powder because the almond milk has almost no protein.

Tina how was your ride tonight? you're so good about doing abs. I keep saying I need to do them more often and then I don't do them :( you should try limiting sugar. I know it's early in the experiment for me but I feel like I've taken myself off the cravings hamster wheel (and it's been remarkably easy).

Candice rock on for keeping to your workouts! too bad you didn't like the city :(. some people suck, trick is to avoid them. Travel safe tomorrow :)

Welcome Diana! There's always room for one more :). Have you done triathlons before? what's your training regimen? I've lost 16 lbs since joining this checkin, would have been more but I went a little crazy over the holidays! Glad to have you join us :)

Hi Shereta & Addie!

Have a wonderful Friday, all :)

Hi guys, I hope you're all having a great weekend. My life has been at a frantic pace lately. We finally managed to get a 50 mile bike ride in today. Hopefully another one tomorrow. Yesterday was M1D5 and I have nice soreness in my upper body today. We did abs from KPC when we can home this morning and the pikes nearly killed me. I'm loving STS! : )

Welcome Diana, we'd love to hear more about you. I don't know how anyone can do the swimming portion of a Tri. All those other bodies splashing near by would put me into a panic!

Candice, I hope you're home safe and sound. Great job sticking to your workout schedule. That's tough on the road.

Hi to Shereta and Addie! : )

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for letting me join you on the weightloss journey!:) Are you all following some kind of diet/nutrition program?

As I mentioned, I'm training for 2 upcoming triathlons this summer. One is very short: 300 yard swim; 12 M bike ride; 2 mile run. It's for beginners as an introduction to triathlons. It's a fun one to help prepare for the Sprint distance in August: 750-meter swim, 20k-bike ride and a 5k-run. For me the swimming is the most difficult as I'm not a very confident or strong swimmer. Also, the second triathlon is an open water swim which is kind of scary. I did it last year for the first time so I know I can do it.

To prepare for these events I'm taking a tri-training class twice a week where we run/swim one night and bike/swim the other night. In addition to this I'm taking swim lessons and biking/running on my own. Once the pools open after Memorial weekend, I'll swim on my own 2 days per week. Oh, and I run occasionally too. I'm participating in memorial day 10K.

Fembot40 (Tina)?-Wow, you rode 50 miles...that's awesome. I did a 27 mile ride on Mother's day. I hope to head out today for a 15 mile ride on my own. It sounds like you are doing STS, one of my favorite workout series. I particularly enjoy Meso 2! Keep up the good work.

Sue-are you also doing STS? I have a chocolate addiction which I try to keep in check. Limiting works better for me than eliminating. Eliminating chocolate brought on binging which is not good for someone trying to lose weight.

Candice-were in Chicago for work? I'm so sorry people were rude to you. That's awful. Be proud of yourself for taking your w/o's with and doing them in your hotel! Why do people have to be so judgemental.

Hi ladies! i haven't checked in for a few days so here's what I've been doing: Friday took a walk, Saturday STS m1 d6- legs, today my one easy tabata premix + yoga based abs (can't levitate though :) ), and 10 minutes of yoga max (still prefer yoga relax but was trying to give that one another chance). Down with sugar is going well and I haven't fallen off the wagon yet :).

Hi Tina! I didn't get as much soreness as I was expecting from d5 even though every exercise was challenging for me. my tris are my weak spot, what do you think of throwing in an extra day of tris or maybe tacking on a 100 rep challenge? good job on the rides :)

Diana - all I can say about the triathlons is WOW! You go :). Yes, this is my 2nd time through STS. My cardio endurance isn't great so I find M1 super challenging, I'm handling it better this time. I know how you feel with the chocolate/eliminating/binging, I'm that way with almost any sweets. I'm using my fitness pal to calorie count, I have done a decent job of keeping my calories in line but my sugar intake was way too high. Finally last week I decided to focus on keeping sugar low (~36g/day) and it has had the effect of stopping my cravings. I'm still eating some sugar and chocolate, it's just low & controlled :). I've switched from cow milk to unsweetened almond milk & lowered my fruit intake. I also haven't had any sugar crashes, my energy has been stable throughout the day. I'm kind of happy with my weight right now but I have an apple shape so I'm looking to get my waist measurement lower.

Hi Shereta, Candice & Addie!

May we all have an excellent week :)

Howdy girls, I am ready for a non-cardio day tomorrow. Today was a 34 mile bike ride. It was inland and very hilly. I'm so tired, I feel hung over.

Diana, your training schedule seems tough! Does the WW plan include a point system for training that hard? You'll melt that weight off in no time.
Shereta is also training for an intense race coming up soon. Sue and I have started this STS round together this time through. It is hands down my favorite fitness purchase ever (besides my bike), I can't seem to stay away from it for too long.

Sue, I'd love to add in some extra body part challenges. Just let me know what you're adding on and I'll join you. On those yoga levitation holds, I had them down pat for the longest time, but I can't seem to pull them off any more. I'll see if after Meso 2 I can get the mojo back. Someday I'd like to be able to do the straight leg version. Congrats on your sugar willpower. I have about six weeks of major family stress left to go, then I'll be back to focusing on nutrition.

Candice, I hope you've caught up on your sleep and are back to your normal routine. How are you enjoying HoCo? I keep eyeballing those workouts, but I'm so not a big plank fan. Is it tough on your wrists?

Hi to Shereta and Addie! : )
