Fatloss Check In May 2013

Hola! I'm feeling great today, I ate well all day and still was low on calories. Spot on for sugar and actually hit 100% for iron which is very difficult for me. D7 chest, shoulders and bis today - in the beginning I could bang out 8 pushups on my toes at a time, by the end I was mostly on my knees.

Tina on Wednesday I'm going to add the 100 rep tricep extensions to the end of D8, it'll be my first 100 rep challenge, I haven't done any yet! You mentioned your ride over the weekend was inland, does that mean you're close to the coast? Jealous :). I hope your family stress resolves without too much difficulty.

Hi Candice, Shereta and Diana, I hope you're doing well out there :)

Hi Ladies,

I've been on track with WW points all week. Tomorrow is the true test when I weigh in.

This morning I'm tackling Cardio Leg Blast and tonight is tri-training. Not sure if we will be running or biking. Our coach prefers we bike outside. Unless it rains, we'll be biking outside and swimming. He's also timing us on our swim times as they need to be submitted to put us in the appropriate waves. This first Tri is not sanctioned as it's a mini tri. You have a 10 minute time limit in the pool. At the 10 minute mark they simply ask you to exit the pool and continue on to the bike...no penalty.:D

I have a 10K on memorial day and haven't ran more than 3.5 miles as of late. It's a fun run though and I'm not running for time anyway.

Sue-great job staying in check with your sugar! Do you track on My Fitness Pal? I've used Fitday for years but have heard that MFP may have some additional features. It's daunting thinking about having to add all my food labels again.

Tina-Well WW does have what the call activity points. My issue is really with food and overeating. I've been exercising most of my life. It's a real eye opener seeing how little food your body actually needs. This is coming from someone who had to "clean your plate". I see you dabble in yoga. I try yoga off/on, but it has never become part of my regimen. If I'm going to w/o, I want to sweat or lift heavy weights. However, the girl that cuts my hair is also a Core Power Yoga instructor and her arms are amazing!

Candice-did you make it back home???

Shereta-what race are you training for???

Hi girls...sorry I've been MIA a few days. It was rough re-adjusting, resting, and getting back on schedule. Work has been very very busy with a ton of overtime required. I also have school work to get done, and started a new shift at work that's taken some getting used to. I hate to admit but I've honestly not worked out for almost a whole week. But my body just hasn't been feeling it. tomorrow I will pick up back with HoCo (LOVE THESE WORKOUTS BTW) and maybe some light cardio...I'm also dealing with some "problems at home" so that's kind of been affecting my workout mojo, lol.

Hi all! Today I did D8, back and triceps. Tacked on 100 rep challenge tricep extensions. That was brutal (my first time with a 100rc). I started with 5 lbs and had to drop to 3 after the first stop. I really needed Cathe's "we're no quitters" motivation because I was thinking about quitting just as she was saying it. She's got great timing :).

Last night I went out for a walk/run but only got a walk in because I came upon a stray dog that was just sitting in the middle of the road. one of my neighbors was backing out of their driveway and I wasn't sure they could see the dog so I called to it to come to me. it came over pretty slowly and let me pet it, no collar & just skin & bones, filthy paws, so it was away from home (if it has one) for quite some time. well the dog followed me on my walk so I'm trying to figure out what to do, I can't just leave it out in the street. Thankfully a neighbor that already has dogs took him in for the night and was going to call animal control today. I assume animal control looks for a chip and if they don't find one the dog goes to the pound? Anyway the point of this story is I can't get this stupid dog out of my head all day. I'm going to call animal control tomorrow and see if they found his owner. I can't shake the feeling that our paths crossed for a reason.

Diana congrats on the points! how did your weigh in go today? Do you always do 2 workouts a day or is it just during tri training? Yes, I am on my fitness pal, I've never used fit day so I can't speak to feature differences. I will say I like the MFP app better than the website, it's easier for me to use. food entry isn't too hard, there's an extensive database and you can add your own foods & recipes. I don't know how it would work with weight watchers points though. there are a bunch of cathletes that you can friend and get nutrition feedback, along with overall moral support. Tina & Shereta use MFP too.

Candice, I'm sorry things just don't seem to be going your way! I hope your problems at home resolve to your satisfaction. This is a good time to just do what you love. have a hard time getting a workout in? just go with your favorite (sounds like that would be hoco right now) and do that, don't worry about any rotation or what you think you "should" be doing. you'll be back in the swing of things soon enough :)

Tina you probably did legs today, right? I've still got slight DOMS from last Saturday's legs! I'm pretty sure my arms are going to be in pain tomorrow after the 100 rep challenge! I can't remember if you've done any of those yet?

Hi Shereta & Addie!

Good morning ladies. Yesterday was STS legs, disc 9. For some reason, it just about did me in. I was huffing and puffing through the whole workout. Today I have growling doms. Tuesday was a day off, due to a visit from the insominia fairy. Today will be kickboxing. It's my sons 16th bday today, so more cake will be in my future.

Candice, I'm sorry to hear your dealing with so much stress right now. I'm in the same rocking boat here. What ever needs to give, just let it go until things calm down. I've let go of nutrition logging for now, but I'll go back to it after life returns to normal again. You should be so proud of yourself for all you're doing. Kudos for taking classes while you're working full time! : )

Sue, the moment I started reading your post on the stray, I thought the same thing. Could you take in a dog right now? Are you going to keep tabs on it at the shelter? It could be a wonderful walking companion for you. ; )
I will surely try the 100 rep tri challenge tomorrow. I've done that once before, but only made it to rep 75 or so. On Monday, I ended up doing M1D6 twice. DH is trying giving STS a try again, so I repeated it in the evening with him, I don't think I'll be doing that silly trick again soon. We do live on the seacoast of NH. It's only 13 miles long, but it's gorgeous coast line. When we cycling along it, I'm always aware of how lucky we are to live along it.

Diana, your training schedule is awe inspiring. That weight you're trying to drop should be melted off in no time. I'm with you on workout intensity, I find it hard to do yoga or barre style workouts. I always feel like, boy I should have done something else that made me drip sweat. That's why I'm going to try a few weeks of just yoga, barre, and circuit workouts this August, try and shake things up. I hope your weigh in went well. : )

Good Morning Ladies,

My darling granddaughter's (5 yr old twins) are here for their summer visit. They got it around midnight so I'm letting them sleep until they wake on their own. Today and tomorrow are vacation days for me so I can take care of them. After having 3 sons, having girls sure is fun!

Yesterday I did a 5 mile run in the morning. Trying to work on my endurance a bit since I have a 10K on Monday. It's a fun race and I've done it numerous times. It has over 50,000 runners so it's not really a race for time situation if you will. My faster running times are far behind me, but running is what tends to work best for me when trying to lose weight.

My weigh-in was good, down 3.6lbs for week 1. I'll take that, but hope it continues next week. The constant up/down on the scale for the past 5 months is very frustrating. That's the reasoning for going back to WW.

Candice-give your body some time to get adjusted to the new work schedule, and homework. I feel for you. I didn't get my degree until I was 32...UGH....and working, going to school, being a wife and a mom to 3 was probably the most difficult time in my life. I'm guessing HoCo is Horizontal Conditioning??? I have one of those and it kicks my butt (abs too) everytime I do it. Hope your stress issues resolve soon.

Sue-Nice w/o...adding the 100 rep challenge..we'll it's always a challenge. Mostly double workouts are on my tri-training days and the weekends. I try to lift weights on my tri training days since that is mainly cardio. I tend to get soft during tri training since there really isn't much time for weights, but I do what I can. Oh my gosh, that poor dog. What did you decide to do? I may look into MFP again. MFP seems to have integrations with other apps that Fitday does not. I used to use my GoWearFit but got tired of the monthly fee for the computer app and am looking into getting a fitbit flex which appears to do the same thing but there isn't a monthly fee to use the app.

Tina-you are amazing, tackling an STS disc twice in the same day...Kudos to you. If it helps get your DH working out then it was probably worth it. Happy Bday to your DS! My youngest DS is 17, soon to be Sr. in HS. Sad to say, but I'm really looking forward to being done with school. My boys are 25,23,17. Your area sounds beautiful. I have an uncle in Maine who lives on the ocean. I call the ocean side his back door, but he explained to me that what I call the back of the house is really the front of the house. My DH actually helped with my tri training while we were visiting him last year and I swam in the ocean. Just beautiful!!

Today was M1D8 back and tri's. I tacked on the 100 rep tricep challenge (thanks for the push Sue!) and then figured the disc was in, so I did Tabata as well. The weather is a total wash out this weekend, so there won't be many (or any) riding miles this weekend. Best get as much cardio in as I can.

Sue, how is the doggie saga going? I just watched a clip of a mother dog and her pups being rescued over at Wimp.com. Made me think of you. ; )
I can feel my triceps already tonight. Did you tack on hip thrusts today?

Diana, you don't seem the typical grandmother, training and running races like you do. Those girls must be adorable! Congrats on your weigh in, that's fantastic! : )

Candice, I hope everything has smoothed out for you and you're back to your routine. : )

Hi to Addie and Shereta. : )

Hi ladies! Yesterday & today have been walk/runs. I'll be doing legs tomorrow (d9 i think). I haven't caught sight of my neighbor to ask her about the dog, hopefully I'll see her this weekend. tomorrow I have a scheduled "anything I want to eat" day, it will include a banana split :)

Tina I can't believe you doubled up on STS! How bad are your DOMS?!?! Tell your hubby that M1 gets easier :)

Diana I bet you're having a great time w your granddaughters! I don't have any kids, love shopping for other people's kids, little girl outfits are sooooo cute! Good luck on your 10K, you'll do great :)

Candice I hope things are settling & you get your groove back :)

waves to all the MIAs :)

Tina looks like we were writing at the same time... I've been doing legs on Saturdays to give myself more time to do a better job. I may tack on the hip thrusts with just the bar... Intimidating though. Have you done them?

Good morning Sue. : ) I've attempted those hip thrusts once, but my lower back was not having it. If I try them again, I think I'll try it on the stability ball. Good luck! Le me know how you make out.

Hi Ladies,

Trying to remember what I've done....Thurs-0ff, Fri-PUB, Sat-14 mile bike ride, Sun-Tabatacise and Core 1 and 2. My darling granddaughters did tabatacise and both core workouts with me this morning. It's alway a lot of fun!

Tomorrow I'm running in a 10K, and hope to finish around the 65 min mark. I used to be able to do this race in under an hour, but with my limited training that's probably not possible....and I don't really care about my time.

I've kind of fallen of the WW tracking wagon for this week. It's really hard to catch up if you don't track as you go. Hopefully my weigh in won't be too bad next week.

Tina-have you tried doing the hip thrusts simply laying on the floor with a weight plate or barbell? I prefer this method and use a 65# barbell without issue..well it's hard...but doable!

Sue-I bet your triceps are super sore!! I love the heavier tricep work in Xtrain and GS too. Hope the dog has been rescued. I'm not really an animal lover, but definitely do not believe in abanding your animals. Especially when there a so many other ways. We used to have a Jack Russell Terrier and after it attacked one of my kids (in my case the child provoked the dog) we gave it to the Jack Russell Terrier adoption group.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Memorial Day weekend!!!

The weather finally broke and we were able to get 44 miles in today. Yesterday was a rainy ride on my old clunker bike. My tri's are still sore from Friday's workouts. Those 100 rep-ers really do work! Sue, did you do the hip thrusts? I'm going to try them on the floor like Diana suggested. I have them on the calendar for Wednesday.

Diana, both Xtrain core workouts in the same day? That's awesome! Think of the positive influence you're having on those little girl's. I wish I had had at grandmother like you! I hope the 10K went well today. : )

Sue, how was that banana split? Hope it was tasty! : )

Hey ladies :). I went off the deep end with food this weekend. Tina by the time I got to my banana split on Saturday I had eaten so much junk I only went through with the split because I'd been thinking about it all week! Of course there was leftover ice cream so I continued to eat that (and other usually off-limits items) on Sunday & Monday. An added reminder that I shouldn't behave that way is my salt-induced kankles :(.

I did M1 D9 legs on Saturday, made it half way through the extra leg conditioning and my legs couldn't take it anymore. I didn't have it in me to attempt the hip thrusts. I did nothing Sun & Mon, D 11 chest shoulders biceps today. I'll probably walk/run tomorrow.

I caught up with my neighbor and learned the dog from last week escaped from her back yard. I feel like a jerk for not taking him home myself. Keeping my eyes peeled...

Diana your granddaughters exercising with you is priceless :). How did the 10K go? I'm in awe too of your double core workout :). I'm like you, if I don't log my food when I eat it it gets really hard to track, my memory just isn't what it used to be!

Tina I bet this crazy spring up/down weather is driving you crazy trying to get in some rides. Are you tracking your cumulative miles again this year? how is hubby getting along with STS? any progress? Do you do the protein w/in an hour after your workout? I'm already trying to think of what rotation I should do after this round of STS.

Toodles!

Hi girls!

I've been a little MIA - I apologize! I'm just kind of in a weird spot in my life right now but I am trying hard to keep up with my exercise and eating habits. :) Glad to see all you doing so well. I did Supersets tonight from Body Blast series...it was good ... I enjoyed doing something that wasn't cardio for a change. I am going to work on incorporating at least 2 full-body weight workouts in each week.

Can't believe May is almost over!

Today was M1D11 legs and 100 rep hip thrusts. I used the stability ball, boy that was way more comfortable. I only used 45lbs to be safe, and I'm so happy I didn't go any heavier. It was hard to walk for awhile after. Yesterday was M1D10 and STS no equip. abs. The weather continues to be damp and dreary. Weather for this weekend is supposed to be in the mid 90's. Talk about extremes!

Candice, it sounds like you have a full plate right now. Nice job keeping up with your workouts and making more goals. I haven't done Supersets in so long, I love that workout. And I vote for the city. ; )

Sue, glad you let your hair down and enjoyed your food this weekend. I tried doing the 100 rep challenge for bi's yesterday and only made it to 80. I started with 32lbs, switched to 30 and then quickly switched to 24. Next time I'll start at 24lbs and try to finish the set. I do try to fit in my protein within the hour after I workout. I can tell when I skip it. Did you pre-buy the new workouts? I'm hoping they'll be shipping in Sept. or Oct., so my plan is to try a rotation with them. Can you believe Meso 1 is almost over? I'm looking forward to cardio next week. : )

Diana, how goes the training? Do you still have your tiny guests? Hope you're enjoying every second.

Hi to Shereta and Addie. : )

Hi ladies,

This morning I did All Out Low Impact HIIT from Xtrain. My body was tired from the 10K on Monday, Xtrain Ride/Swim on Tuesday. I know it's all in my head, but I like to do a cardio w/o on the morning of my weigh ins.

Speaking of weigh ins, my weight was unchanged from last week. :) I'll take that considering I didn't track much at all except for my exercise! I'm back to tracking though since that makes a big difference for me.

Tina-aaahhh yes, those hip thrusts will get you everytime! Being pear shaped I'm always on the lookout for exercises to lift and firm the backside! Wow 44 miles is awesome. Maybe someday I'll ride that far. My darling granddaughters will be here until July 6th! Their Mom and her whole family exercises or participates in sports so they love to workout!

Candice-good job with supersets, haven't done that one in a while. I'm also finding it hard to get in weight training with tri-training. I tend to get a little soft since I don't lift weights as much during tri-training season.

Sue-sorry about the junk food binge....that happens to me sometimes too. Oh my gosh, I can't believe the dog got away from your neighbors yard. Hopefully someone else found it and called animal control or took him to a shelter. Well I completed the 10K but it was probably my slowest time. I wasn't concerned with my time though. One my GD's wanted to do the second core w/o and after the first couple of exercises she sprawed out on the floor and said "my tummy is so tired". :) This particular GD loves to do pushups and always wants me to put in GS Chest & Triceps...she loves the drop sets of pushups!

Hi girls

Checking in with a rest day today...life is just so crazy! I am glad I have you girls here to help me stay accountable and on-track though. Lately I've really been trying to focus on how to change my habits...not just for health and fitness but also for my outlook/attitude, work, spending, studying, etc. I have been so focused on changing so many things that I think sometimes I overwhelm myself.

Anyway...June is around the corner! Summer is here (kind of! it's been pouring here in WA the last few days!). My goal for June is not to worry about the number on the scale but instead to focus on my health by swearing off of sweets! That means no donuts, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, pudding, sweet cereal (ie: lucky charms, frosted mini wheats), candy bars, chocolate, etc. I don't *LOVE* Sweets so I think that will be a doable goal. I am going to check in each night with you girls about this to help hold myself accountable and at the end of June I expect to have gone 30 days without extra sweets! I'm also going to be attempting to study a minimum of 5 minutes every day. I know that sounds piddly but right now my study habits are so poor...darn senioritis. You may be wondering why I care about building study habits since I graduate this year but I am starting my insurance industry education on June 10th...and I have 2 designations I'm shooting to for. The first will take about 1 year and the second about 2 years...so there will still be lots of studying ahead for me!

Tomorrow I am going to do Low Impact Step. Saturday will be Push Pull. :)

Hi girls!

Hope you all had a wonderful day :) I know I sure did.... recently I decided to hire a housekeeping company to come clean every 2 weeks. Today was the first clean and OMG...I can't beleive how much BETTER my whole house feels! it is truly amazing. I feel like I am in such a great wonderful mood. I love it.

Anyway - checking in w/ Low Impact Step (well, I'm about to do it right now) and then also checking in with some good eating. It's TTOM so I am hungrier than normal but I managed to have specific meals today instead of mindless snacking. I'm really proud of myself for that!

Hi ladies :). Checking in with M1 D 11, back & triceps. Nothing extra this time. I'm on my phone so I'll be back tomorrow for personals, TGIF!!!!!

Yesterday was a 31 mile bike ride, and as the saying goes, there was no chain on the bike. The strongest ride I've had this year. : ) Today was the last disc in Meso 1. I added the 100 rep scarecrows and XT core 1 &2 (Diana, I had to try it).

I'm down 2lbs, but with the heat, I'm thinking it's water weight. Starting today, I'm cutting way back on sugar.

Candice, my DD is having major seniouritis (high school). I feel like a drill sergeant/cheer leader right now. She only has six days left, phew!

Diana, congrats on your 10K! Fantastic! : )
