::::: CHEETAHS ::::: Thurs., 2/1

*slinking in quietly* This Cheetah had a bad migraine y'day afternoon & it's still lingering on. I took my Imitrex but it doesn't seem to be working. I had thought about taking a rest day, but I'm going to try some yoga/ pilates later. We'll see how I feel. I wanted to run errands today but I just can't handle it. Allison is having too much fun playing w/ her horses & puzzles so we'll just call it a stay in day. I have the always fun bills to pay & cleanMax to keep me busy. ;-)

I did take a nap y'day afternoon but then I slept terrible last night. I even had bad dreams, so I must have really not gotten *good* sleep.

OK, off to get to work around here. I think I'm functional again. I'm thinking there might have been MSG in a stir fry that I made, I ate it Tues night & y'day as leftovers. I tossed the package but I'll make sure not to buy that again!

I can't wait to get my shirt now! I hope I can still qualify as a Cheetah as I've only been able to run once/ maybe twice a week. Hopefully I'll be back to my full Cheetah self come summer!! }(

I did about 20 minutes of the slideboard, some warmup running, then iTread 13 for an interval workout on the TM adding up to 4 miles. Then BC abs, skipping the 2 exercises for lower abs, so just doing obliques and planks. And the stretch from B&G.

Once I got going it was a good workout, but a slow, sluggish start.

Carole—congratulations on your speed gains! That’s awesome. Your speed work + diet changes seem to really be paying off. Thanks for offering to measure your pedals. No hurry at all. We won’t be buying anything for awhile!

Linda—good news about your run. I love that “injury is good and gone” feeling.

Christine –Sorry you’re not feeling well. The rest will be the best thing for your body. I know what you’re describing about biking – like it’s your baseline favorite cardio.

Jess – so sorry about your migraines. The absolute pits. Keep doing what you can to abort that headache. I get them, too and have a lot of luck controlling them through gradual elimination of food triggers (which was hard to figure out). But when the headache hits, it’s Imitrex or something similar for me.

Ok off to work for the day. Have a great one everyone!

Good morning ladies,
I am feeling great after yesterday workout. I just LOVE my elliptical. It felt great to have it right there in my bedroom and I did not have to drive anywhere or look nice or anything...ahhh, so lucky I am. I did 55 minutes on it yesterday and did the interval program and then in the evening I did my Baron long and lean with my hubby. I am so glad to be doing yoga. And, I lost those 3lbs that I gained a couple of weeks ago. So, I have not complaintes today about anything.

I am working in my daughter Ally's classroom today and then it is off to my pt appointment. And, then I have to take my little Mariah to the dentist to get 2 cavities filled. I am not looking forward to that. I am hoping she is a brave girl.

Cathy, I PROMISE I will put that check in the mail today. Good luck on your weigh-in.

Barb,I am just now realizing the past 3 months that my body definitley responds better to the light weights. I feel worked, but not exhausted and tight. My 2 leg workouts that I am alternating is legs and glutes and of course, Butts and gutts. I know I have lost some strength though. enjoy your run!

Marcia, another p90x cheetahs. I will have to get into that myself. I am just so not looking forward to it. It sounds so intense, and I am not a wimp, but for some reason I am not looking forward to that series. Have fun at your step class and try to stay warm today.

Wendy, I hope you feel better. Drink lots of green tea. It really helped me and it is great for the immune system.

Judy, I have cardio coach for treadmill, but have never tried it. Is there a seperate one for the elliptical? Give me the scoop.

Laura, I have found that if I weigh myself after a restaurant meal the next day, I am always up a lb or 2. It is probably just water weight. Hang in there and you will see results.

Karen, enjoy your run!

Kristi, enjoy your rest day:)

Linda, great job your 5 miler!

Sunnydelite, I am so impressed how you have really made yourself a successful personal trainer. It sounds like your clients love you.

CArole, how exciting that you got a new tv. Enjoy it! I am so glad your back is better:)

Christine, I hope you feel better. You are smart giving yourself a break today. Thanks for the article, very inspiring!

Jess, I hope you feel better today.

Well, ladies I am off to start my day. I will be doing butts and gutts premix and ME upper body today.

Have a lovely day and hello to all the other cats!

Susan

Jes- Those headaches can really ruin your day. I think your plan today is a wise one, stay in and take it easy with manageable tasks.

Thank you Christine! I did 40" of Yoga from the Eionn Finn Yoga for Happiness DVD ( corny name) I really felt it in my hips.

Carole- congrats on the new TV :) 'High Def' is awesome for sports. (Tonight is Sabres vs. Bruins and DS is going to the game in Boston, I'll have to look for him in the crowd)

Susan- I have used Cardio Coach 2 revised, 6 Candace and 6 Sean and most recently Choose Living / Cardio Coach Press Play on the EXT. It is fun to adjust either resistance or pace and try to stay in the right heart rate range.

Judy "Likes2bfit"

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

WOW! Lots of post. That's what happens when I get online so late in the day!

Sounds like everybody's rocking and rolling!

Today's a 4 mile easy run. But I'm TIRED! Last night was AWESOME! We had a great time in NYC. Ate at Applebee's and then ColdStone Creamery for dessert. Just heavenly. VERY LATE night. Home at 1am, tucked the kids in bed, then some quality time with Mike, so it was after 2:30am when we zonked out. TIRED TODAY!

Gathering reserves for a workout later. Not sure what, thinking the 4 easy on the TM followed by abs.

Sorry I can't comment to everybody. I just have so much to get done around here!

Gayle

Good morning all! Missed a day I think... had another horrific night at work. I was running back and forth between the ICUs and the blood bank... I felt like I'd run another marathon:eek: at the end of the shift. Anyway, spent yesterday recovering, did some kickboxing and spinning and am feeling on top of things today:)

Susan- I am so green with envy over your new elliptical! My model is SO old and it never was a very good one. I think you may have inspired me to upgrade. Your DH does yoga with you as well??? What a guy! Good luck with your trip to the dentist with your little one!

Cathy- have fun doin what you wanna:7 and best of luck at your weigh in!

Barb- Thanks for the update on the race schedule! LOL about the hill on my race! Unfortunately its alot more than one hill:eek: I've done the Jari Love S&L twice but I must confess I really don't like it at all. Maybe I'll try it again.

Marcia- Wow, you deal with some serious COLD! Have fun with your school musical... I just love watching kids perform in things like that, they have such fun. I don't know how you deal with coming up with new routines for your classes. That would be very challenging for me. Do you use moves from Cathe much?

Carole- Good work on the speed. Maintaining a 9.24 pace is pretty dang good :7 Sounds like you'll be nice and ready for your 10miler in march. Perfect timing for the new HD TV!!!!

Wendy- I haven't done CoreSyn in a while.... it's a good one for sure! I find it very difficult getting through all of Xstretch but he sure does have some effective ones in there. Have a great time shopping for Joey today!

Judy- Okay, be a good cheetah and DO YOUR YOGA!!!! Actually I need to yell at myself to do that;-)

Linda- Hi there! I don't think I've chatted with you for a while!
We've been missing each other. Sounds like you're doing well but I
guess you've had some leg injury? What kind of injury is it? Hopefully nothing serious. If you're managing a 5 mile run I guess it's not too bad:)

Laura- Are you weighing yourself every day? If so you really can't let those 1-3 lb fluctuations get to you. Especially after eating out! You know darn well that you can't really have put on 3 lbs with just one meal. It is simply water weight from more fluid retention or TTOM, etc.

Karen- Great interval run!!!

Kristi- Have a fun time at the shower! Having never had kids, or wanted them I have a hard time getting into them myself.

SunnyD- Wow, 8 clients!!! Word has gotten out on you :7

Christine- Thanks for the note on Jack Kirk! Running at age 95:eek: :eek:
Sorry you're feeling under the weather today and I hope it doesn't progress further!

Jess- Migraines are so tough to deal with.... poor Jess!!! I should think Yoga or Pilates would be helpful. Take care!

Time to get moving. I was up early and got in the upper body work from supersets and bootcamp. Then did Cardiofusion :7 Tonight will be work on the elliptical. DH and I are heading out shopping.
Maybe I'll look at some ellipticals}(

ShellyC

Gayle!!! Hi there.. haven't heard from you in a while! It's great to have you posting again! Have any races planned? Are you still going to do the MCM this year?

ShellyC

Hey, Shelly! I've been around, just jumping from one check in to the next! For a while I was doing P90X, but I lost interest and am back to what works for me and keeps my motivation....Cathe, running, and everything else in between depending on my mood!

As for races, I've got a few:
This weekend is Super Bowl Sunday 10K
March and April have 2 5Ks, a 4 milers, and a Half at the end of April.

As for MCM in October. I had deferred my '06 entry to this year becasue soemthing was nagging at me to do so. Turned out my mom was diagnosed with cancer early in Oct. Women's intuition, I guess. NOW...I have it on my calendar for '07...BUT I just learned about an Inaugural (sp???) Lehigh Valley Marathon right in my back yard on that exact same weekend. So, now I'm thinking about trying to transfer my number to another runner and running in this new one back home here.

Long answer for ya, sorry! LOL

I'm so glad to be back running on a consistant basis once again!

Gayle

Good Afternoon Cheetahs.:)

I have not done my work out yet today. At this point it is being reserved for this evening after DS goes to bed. DH will not be home anyway...:)

Carole...I envy your doing B&G today. I am dyin' to do the leg blast premix of that work out!}( When I am done with the X I think I am going to continue working strength for the upper body, go endurance for lower body so I can do B&G to my lil' heart's content!}( So you like rollin' around on the floor, ey? If your DH could only hear you say that!!! ;) }( :7 LOL

Christine...Sorry you are feeling cruddy today. :-( Feel better soon.

Jess...Another migraine? YIKES, how awful! I hope your yoga/pilates session later isn't dampened by a pounding headache. Have fun cleaning! ;)

Susan...Since I got sick I have actually been switching to green tea after dinner instead of decaf coffee. I don't know if it's helping me but it's a nice flavor change even for a coffee addict like myself!}( I am still waiting for my Baron dvd to arrive. I'm hoping it may still show up today since I haven't done my yoga yet...

Gayle...OH MY GOD, Coldstone is THE BEST!!!! Lucky you!!!:9 }( :9

Shelly...So did you elliptical shop today? }( I had fun shopping for Joey, thanks. I bought him the cutest corduroy pant/button down shirt outfit that was on sale. I couldn't leave it there! He also got new skid proof sox so he can run around with no shoes on but still wear sox and not fall down every 10 seconds! LOL I also bought him a Bear in the Big Blue House potty training DVD! *GASP!* My child is growing up!;(

Well, I've had Joey down for a nap for over 1.5 hours and I think if he slept 30 mins it was a lot. He didn't sleep much y'day either! ACK...my child may be giving up his nap...GRRRR! This means I'll have to get up BEFORE the chickens to work out at home during the week! Oh please let me be wrong...PLEASE!!!!! LOL

So anywhooo, I better get up there and "save" him. I'll be back later chickies!:)

Sunny - Wow! 8 clients today! You are doing great!

Carole - Glad your back is doing some better! Hopefully, it will be 100% soon! Enjoy your tv....oh....and the Super Bowl! ;) That sound like a good workout that you have planned!

Christine - Wow! I would love be be like Mr. Kirk, as well!! That is great! But so sad that he died :-( Hope you feel better and that is doesn't knock you down!

Jess - I sure hope your headache goes away! Migraines are horrible! Do you get the aura? Take it easy and hope you have a better day!

Barb - It sounds like you ended up having a good workout! I guess we will have those "slow to start" days. :-( Seems like since I got back from vacation, I have had a lot of those:+

Susan - That is so great about your elliptical! Glad you are enjoying it! Are you still doing weights, as well as the yoga and cardio, or are you going to do yoga and cardio for a while? I felt so good when I incorporated yoga last year! I should really do it again!

Gayle - Wow! Sounds like a fun night! I would have been pooped! Anything past 9:00 p.m. is late for me ! :+

Shelly - Sorry you had such a rough night! Good luck on elliptical shopping! I hurt my leg around 3 weeks ago...maybe a month ago. I "think" I did it running down steep hills fast. Not sure. But if I would not run hard on it, it would start feeling better. If I "racewalked" or fast walked, or whatever you wanna call it :+ for a couple days, it would start feeling better. I was on a trip for a week and walked long distances everyday. It seems to be doing a lot better now. I have run twice this week and so far, so good. I shouldn't speak too soon, I guess ;-) Hope all is going well with you! Looks like you have done some awesome workouts!

Linda

:)

I'm reading posts between cleaning out my DS's room. DS is ok but now that he's 10 (this Sunday) we have a ton of stuff (books and toys) to get rid of.
Rest day today. Tomorrow plan to do a circut of some type.

Colleen

I'm back for personals girls. I have been at my sisters getting my taxes done so I can get my eliptical. I'm so happy to have it done and almost sent off.

My speedwork today went really well except I got a headache aftereward. I know it was do to lack of water from the previous day. I have a harder time getting water down when it's cold outside. I was on a hot tea kick yesterday.

Linda- Any time your legs feel good after a run, then it's a good run. Walking for your breaks is perfect.

Carole- I'm jealous about your tv. My dh wants a flat screen in our newly remodled office in the house. Like he would ever leave that room if it had a flat screen and a computer.

Christine- Hope the curd goes away quickly. Healng non crud vibes coming your way.

Jess- I hope the migriane goes away quickly

Susan- My friend is letting me borrow Butts and Gutts tomorrow as well as Drill Max. I can't wait to do this workout.

Gayle- You have quite a race list. i just love having goals and races to run each month. It's such a good time doing races. Are your boys interested in running? My girls are becoming little cheetahs.

ShellyC- You are a workout machine girl. What a mix of exercise you did today. Are you feeling any effets from the marahton? How long did it take you to recover from that. You bounced back perfectly.

Wendy- No Naps!!! Aghhhh. I know how you feel. When my last one gave hers up I had to make a whole new workout plan. Mornings are a mom's friend.

Barb- Nice workout today. Good mix of exercises. Is the slideboard the mat where you put the slipper shoes on and go from side to side. I think I had one of those but I'm sure they are much better than the one I had back then if that is what you are talking about. I only remember it hurt my knees for some reason. I don't know why.

Colleen- Enjoy your rest day.

Hello to all other cheetah's today.

Update race schedule for me. I added a few more.

March 25th- 10 Miler
April 19th - 5k for the Ronald McDonald house. I just signed up to do this one and my girl scout troop is doing the fun run.
April 29th- 5k
May 6th and May 19th- 5k ( May do the 10k on the 6th)
June 3rd- 5k

I may also do a 5 Miler on Feb 28th if my dh has off. They have a great fun run for the girls but that all depends on dh's work schedule

Long Term- Oct - full or half Baltimore Marathon.

Hey there, cheetahs!

I did get home pretty late – around 6-ish – so even though I feel I *could* bang out a workout, I’m going to switch up with tomorrow and take today as a rest day.

Barb ~ it sure didn’t *feel* like 38 today when I ran out to the post office during lunch…we had flurries off & on, so I think they got that forecast wrong! I love what your son’s teacher did with the writing projects & responses – very clever!

Marcia ~ ugh on those temps!! Enjoy tonight’s class & your niece’s performance.

Wendy ~ I did get your check today…I imagine a few more will come in tomorrow, so I’ll mail off another batch of shirts on Saturday morning. I did wear my shirt y’day, and yes, I do find it comfortable & roomy enough w/out being too big. I was afraid that it would be really long since it’s mens’ fit, but it's fine. I ordered a M. (I am 5’4” and a size 8/10.) An hour of stretching *is* a long time!! Hope that cold of yours is on the way out. I *know* you’re sick when I read that you’re just DYING to do that B&G Leg Blast! ;) lol But I love that you’re still croaking out orders!! ;) You’re gonna be a kick-butt PT!!…Yesterday I asked what Kenpo stands for – you might’ve missed it. Anywho, do you know? I’ve been curious…

Judy ~ yes, I have not been getting in many outdoor runs this month…I think today I figured out why. My wing of the school is *always* FREEZING. Even though I dress warmly at work, I spend most of my day feeling chilly, or when it’s worst, shivering. So, even though I have plenty of cold weather gear for outdoor runs and years ago I would run in every weather imaginable, I now find myself coming home from work & wanting just to stay in the warm house! I have never done legs first and wonder how I would hold up. Hope you got in the yoga today. I think I hear the crack of Wendy’s whip… :)

Laura ~ don’t be discouraged!! Probably a water weight fluctuation, and you’re absolutely right, the hormones (unfortunately) come into play for us. I think you should switch to taking measurements rather than the scale. Look for the tale-o’-the-tape changes you want in your lower body rather than get hung up on the numbers.

Karen ~ glad your internet is back up & running. Sounds like a perfect view to take the drudgery out of the ol’ dreadmill. I did my taxes on Tuesday night and know what you mean – I’m glad to have it out of the way. Quite a full race calendar you’ve got already!

Kristi ~ I *hate* showers! I’d like to take that silly putty sledge hammer (or maybe something heavier) and give a good wallop to whoever invented those things…You’re a good co-worker…I would’ve bagged the shower! :) I just recently decided I am done with attending them at my school. We have a young staff and people are constantly getting married or expecting kids. I still contribute to the gift, but I don’t even want to just drop in anymore – I’ll wind up noshing on stuff I really don’t need to consume!

Linda ~ glad your leg’s feeling good! I haven’t checked the PMs yet but will get to that after I post this.

Sunny ~ 8 clients!!! WOW! Enjoy that DOMS!

Carole ~ 1.5 a week is great…you will be at your goal in no time! Good job picking up some speed. Congrats on the awesome new TV – just in time for SB!!!

Christine ~ hope your rest day helps you fight off whatever bug it is you’ve got there.

Jess ~ sending migraine recovery vibes your way!! And don't be silly :: once a cheetah, always a cheetah.

Susan ~ congrats on shedding the 3 lbs.!! I’m glad you’re having so much fun with the ETX. (Why is there an X at the end, BTW?) How did Mariah make out at the dentist? Hope she braved it well! No worries ‘bout the check…whenever you get to it.

Gayle ~ we have been racking up a lot of posts in the past few days – it’s a lot to keep up with! Re: races, I don’t have any planned for the time being but will pick up with a few 5Ks later this spring and possibly the Broad Street 10-Miler in May. Glad you all enjoyed the show & your day in NYC.

Shelly ~ sorry to hear you’ve had another hairy night at work! Kickboxing sounds like the perfect workout to recover from a stressful shift. Have fun elliptical shopping!!

Colleen ~ enjoy your rest day & cleaning!

The weigh-in today went well even though my team didn’t “win.” We lost a total of 60-something lbs. and the other team lost 75 or so. I dropped 5, so I’m happy. Thanks for the good luck wishes! (Of course, one of the guys lost 18!!!!) But everyone slimmed down SOME, so it’s been a positive for all of us. I’m glad I signed up for it. My eating is back on track finally, so I really want to keep the momentum going now.

I mailed the t-shirts during lunch today…Karen, you’ll probably have yours by Saturday…everyone else, it should be about 3-4 days.

Cathy :)

Just popping in to say that this sounds, well, interesting... Bike Polo... http://www.bicyclepolo.org/ I love the top reasons bike polo is better than regular polo:

Top Ten Reasons Bike Polo is Better than Horse Polo
10. A horse has a mind of its own; a bicycle always does what it's told;
9. You need a "string" of horses for polo, but only one bike for bicycle polo;
8. Different horses require different mallet lengths; you can adjust the height of a bicycle seat, so you only need one mallet;
7. You can transport bicycles on the roof or in the trunk of your car;
6. You can leave a bicycle in the corner of your garage for years, and a little Armor-all and WD-40 will make it good as new;
5. Bicycles eat a lot less than horses;
4. Consequently, they are a lot easier to clean up after;
3. It's a lot less hazardous to your health to have a bicycle fall on you;
2. Some rich guy can't beat you to the ball just by buying a faster bike; he still has to pedal it;
1. When you break a spoke, you don't have to shoot your bike.

That being said, I will probably never attempt this as I can see myself receiving or causing serious injuries as I'm sooo not coordinated!

By the way - great job Cathy!!! Way to go on the 5 pounds lost!

And the above is just one of my quick musings... Please feel free to ignore.
