::::: CHEETAHS ::::: Mon, 2/19

Hi Gang!

Our weekend was packed wtih Hockey 5 games! So posting was difficult at best!

Wendy- I have your booty DOMS! I did B&G Leg Blast y'day; need I say more? It is such a good feeling to de clutter! Don't fret about putting your house up for sale; the only way to find out is to put it on the markiet.

Sunny- Which cardio did you choose today?

Hi Cathy- Happy Presidents' Day off!!! How did you make out with your grad work this weekend and your movie?

Shelly- I hope Spohie's evaluation is helpful! Walking up the hill after toboggoning down is a cardio extra!

KarenVictoria-I'll be expecsting to hear about your DOMS tomorrow.

Marcia- Enjoy your RARE day off!

Linda- You and Cathy and Barb have sparked my interest in Fluidity. I am eagerly waiting to hear a review after you have used it consistently!

Barb- In my experience when kids make comments like that it is what they have heard at home! We have heard comments like those from time to time. Swimming is such mental sport to begin with! Your older DS is a charm!

Hi Jes- Have fun sledding with those kids. I hope you bring along a big container of hand sanitizer for McD's

Carole- Hooray for your NON achy parts!

We are off school for Presidents' WEEK.

DD went with some family friends up to Quebec to ski all week.
DS has been in a hockey tournament all weekend
Today we had a game at 7am and now we are waiting to find out if DS's team plays in the championship game this afternoon. I need to get on the TM, but may have to run to the rink to pick up DS; he stayed to watch the next game.

Hopefully I can get a TM run in sometime today. It is still very icy on the road shoulders, so I am staying indoors a bit longer.

Hey Ladies!

Nice to be lounging around on a Monday Morning instead of rushing to get ready for work! The tennis match was a blast – and a good one, even without Andy Roddick. One of the player, a 6’10” Croatian named Ivo Karlovic has incredible serves!! He was consistently lobbing the ball over the net at 140+ mph. And the people we took we so appreciative. Then we ended up over at Dolly’s house and of course she served Indian food, so I ate badly yet again. Need to get on track *searches frantically for will power* Fortunately, Lent is Wednesday so alcohol and meat, except fish, are off the menu for 40 days. Today is the Leg Blast Premix from B&G plus a 5 mile trail run with Tucker. My entire upper body is on fire from yesterday’s workout! Wow! It hurts when I cough! All those punches…

Carole – THANKS for the photo of Roddick!! Yummy! Definitely nice to watch play. Great job on your 12 miler! I’m so happy you had no pain and are feeling good today!! Don’t you feel stupid with that big sombrero on your head and the waiters singing? But I guess humiliation is good for us every now and again. :p Sounds like you had a good time. And yeah, I can imagine your sister doing that.

Wendy - *grins sheepishly* Oh yeah L&B is Legs and Back. Boy do I feel stupid! Glad to hear your bootie DOMS has subsided.

Linda – I have another story about being awoken in the middle of the night. DH was away on a business trip and I was sound asleep – it was 3:30AM – when one of the doors to our bedroom (we have double doors) rattled. I was suddenly wide awake and leaped out of bed into a fighting stance (too much self defense!), and heard nothing. I walked around the house with the internal RADAR going a million miles a minute, but there was no one there. Finally went back to bed and when I got up, heard there had been a moderate earthquake (4.5 pointer) and that had rattled the door.

Cathy – I’m with you!!! Happy Monday off and all that! My girls are off all week, actually. Enjoy your run or kickbox class!

Laurie – Enjoy Cardio Fusion and your work! My quaking house story is above with Linda… But I hear ya on the creaky houses.

Sunny – Enjoy your cardio!!

Karen – Enjoy B&G – I’ll be suffering through with you!

Shelley – Sounds like a nice day, once the testing of DD is over. Hope Sophie is okay! Enjoy your workout!

Marcia – have fun shopping with DD. I have groceries to do, too – haven’t done them yet! Might go this morning before my workout.

Barb – Sounds like a fun workout!! Glad to hear the sun is shining on your little part of the world!! Your sons sound like really great guys! You should be proud. I love how the oldest supported the youngest without making a huge deal out of it. Good job Mom!

Jess – I love SB too! It’s just a fun workout. Enjoy your day!

Judy – Wow! 5 hockey games?? Good luck getting on the TM!!

Waves to all the lovely Cheetahs!!

Susan—I don’t live near Holland, but I’ve been there and it’s a lovely town. There is a lot of good shopping there. It seems like a really nice community to be in.

Carole-sounds like a fun dinner last night. A little singing + good food sounds very cheerful. Your sister sounds like a blast!

Karen—I don’t know if my older DS had such good manners, but he was old enough to know he needed to keep his mouth shut in the moment. What he had to say in the car involved a pledge to moon next time this happens! :+

Judy—I agree that the sport is very mental and you bring up an interesting point about hearing this kind of talk at home. His parents are very competitive, very focused on performance. I hope your DS’s team gets to play in the championship game this afternoon. I hope you can squeeze in a TM run. This sounds very busy.

Linda-My younger DS so just so thrilled to swim this event and complete it, it was really a surprise. It was just lucky for him that his brother was there.

Christine—glad you have a morning off! Yay!! Sounds like an exciting tennis match. Have a fun trail run today and your LB workout. Tough workout plan!

OK, I'm going to try to post a pic here of me in my Cheetah shirt. Hannah just took it for me. I took it in the *new* bathroom since the lighting is so good in there now! Yeah, I did it!!

Have a great day, Cheetahs!

Jess- Nice pic!!! You're looking fabulous:7 Beautiful job on the bathroom. You and your DH are pretty good with the DIY home improvement projects.

ShellyC

Good morning cheetahs! Posting a little late this morning since I had to take my poor old Birdy (my dog) to the vet today for surgery (torn ACL). Anyway, still feeling good after my run yesterday, no new injuries :7 I also went through PUB including the abs at the end. As Cathe would say, I was shakin like a chihuahua at the last 4 pikes but I pulled it off!

Today will be the B&G leg blast premix and an hour on the elliptical.

Be back for personals!

ShellyC

:) :) :) :) :) PERSONALS:) :) :) :)

Laura- how are you today? EXT is Carole's shorthand for Elliptical
Cross Trainer:)

Cathy- wooohooo A day off! Knowing you you are making the absolute most of it! Good luck with your observation week :) That would be so great if you could make it to the Middletown race. By June 23rd I imagine you would be off from work?

Wendy- Did you see my reply last night about the race in Middletown?
I see you are back with the p90x:7 I did ARX a couple of days ago and hadn't done it for a while--- it really works the hip flexors:eek:

Laurie- Hope the gremlins don't come back! Have a great time with cardiofusion!

SunnyD- The June 23rd race in NJ is just a 5k--- totally doable for any cheetah here:7 Looking forward to seeing your pic!

Karen- Great job with the B&G. I think this is one of Cathe's most innovative workouts. The ab workout in particular is great although I prefer the stability ball abs over the ones with weights.

Shelley- Hope all goes well with your DD's appointment today. You inspired me yesterday to get through PUB with the ab section on the end! Which DM premix today.... the ultracardioblast?}( }(

Marcia- You sound like you're doing great with the p90x!!! Do you do the pullups for the back? I can only manage a few unassisted and then I have to put my foot up on a supportx( Nice that you have a day off!!! It is well deserved:7

Linda- I'm going to check out Barry's bootcamp today... it's been a while since I've gotten any new workout dvds! You managed this AND a 6 mile run all before work???? What time do you get up:eek: ?

Barb- Sounds like a great KB workout? I have Amy's HLExt and have been contemplating getting her KBext. What do you think about it?

Jess- I'll say it again .... great pic! You are incredibly photogenic. Re: Mickey Ds... they do have some good salads don't they?

Carole- 12 miles yesterday with no ill effects? That sounds encouraging. I hope you won't have to forgo the 10 mile race in March! I've had some issues with piriformis syndrome in the past and sitting on a tennis ball deep massage does wonders for me.
Sounds like you had a fun birthday dinner!

Judy- Glad to hear you're staying off the ice! Take care :7

Christine--- I nominate you for supercheetah of the day.... B&G leg blast AND a 5 mile trail run   I'll bet Tucker loves these!

Time to get moving --- Hi to anyone I've missed!

ShellyC

Christine - That would have been scary! The idea that someone may have been in there...as well as it actually being an earthquake!! No matter how small!! Enjoy your lounging! I sure wish I was off!!! Glad the tennis match was fun! My DH is a big tennis fanatic! He used to play all the time. He hasn't played for around 5 years, though.

Jess - That is a really pretty picture of you! I also just love your new bathroom!

Shelly - I hope Birdie does well with the surgery! Enjoy B&G and the elliptical!

Judy - I will definitely keep you posted on whether or not I get any results from the Fluidity....or if I keep it up or not:+

Linda

Shelly-I am mixed on Amy Bento’s KBxTreme. It’s a good cardio workout and nice to have some variety. But the KB choreography in parts is just strange and I modify a lot to make it flow better. It’s similar to the intermediate intensity portion of KPC in term of choreography, but the sequences don’t seem as logical. I like her, the music and the pace.

I hope Birdy is ok. Good job on the PUB from start to finish. Have fun with legs & EXT today!

Barb
:)

Jess- Nice pic. I need to take one. I will I will

ShellyC- Oh I hope it all turns out ok at the vet. I hope Birdy is running aound soon. Great job on the workout.

Christine- Indian food. Never had it. I hear it is good. My one friend seems to eat it once a week. Is it spicy? I don't like cumin. I'm sure that is one of the flavoring huh. What else are you doing for Lent? I need ideas.

Judy- I hope they make it to the championship game. I'm at home rooting for your family. Go Judy's son GO!!!

Cathy - I went back to last night's posts and saw where you asked what about Fluidity bothered my knees. It is where you put your feet two - three inches about and turn your toes out. Then you bring your pelvis close to the bar, lean back and go down into a "squat". During this time, you are up on the balls of your feet. My knees seem to be jointed "backwards" or something! I have never been able to sit cross legged or do plie squats with my knees really out to the side the way they are supposed to bex( Anyway...it is probably just my funky jointed knees. Hopefully, I will get more used to it. I can't wait to see what you think of them and it!

Linda

Karen - LOL...actually, the last couple of posts were on my lunch hour...but yes....it is getting higher! Can ya tell ..I don't want to be working right now :+ Okay...I will get to work now! I promise (with my fingers crossed behind me back ;)

Linda

Hello ladies,

Add me to the list of working cheetahs today.....

I decided i am going to do barrys legs and butt plus the TM cardio portion. I need to do legs twice a week.

judy- sounds like DD is really enjoying herself

shelley- hello! please tell me what is tobagginng?

jess- great pic!

linda- you made me wanna do a bbc workout today:p :)

christine-glad you had fun at the tennis match. i went once and saw andy- he is yummy in person, lol.

karen- have fun with B&G. i almost did that one today.

barb- glad you enjoyed your mish-mosh. you ladies are so innovative. i just do the workouts as is. i just started checking out pre-mixes. how do you like amy's kickbox workout?

shelly- let me further enable you....BBC workouts are great!! they are fun and intense at the same time. plus so very versatile:)

i will check back in with you later:)

Sunny-- I don't know if I'm innovative or easily bored. LOL. I have done so many of the workouts so many times, doing them in parts is a way to get myself going!

You have definitely inspired me to try BBC. So it's on my to-buy list. Wendy & Judy have definitely come up with some official good mish-moshes. Laurie posted one, too, a few weeks ago on the video/dvd comments forum that was a mix I think of Circuit Max and another tape.

Hi Cheetahs! I'm just stopping by to say a quick "Hello!". I've had a busy weekend with studying for a Real Estate Law test, finishing up a project for another class, hiking and visiting the museum and zoo with my family. My elliptical "runs" have been good. Cranking up the resistance seems to make me feel like I went for a good hard road run. The PF feels really good today but I'm going to play it safe and stick with the elliptical for the rest of this week, possibly including my 11 to 12 mile long run on Sunday.

After a couple of days of not checking in here it seems like I have missed a lot. Please keep that in mind as I attempt some PERSONALS!!!

Cathy, If I were in your shoes I'd opt for the trip to Cathe's gym. How far apart are you again?

Wendy, I never caught what workout gave you those booty DOMS.

Laurie, I hate when those invisible gremlins keep me from getting a good night of sleep.

Karen, I love the abs in B&G too. Especially the ones where she uses the weights.

Shelley, Ooooh, I see you've been wooed over to the Cheetah side! That's awesome! Enjoy your day with DD. I love days like you've got planned.

Marcia, I have not done KenpoX. Is it high, medium or low impact?

Linda, No President's Day holiday for you? I'm sorry!!

Barb, The sun is out here today too! It was actually 80 degrees on Saturday. Yesterday was a bit cooler though. When we went to the zoo in Santa Barbara the parking lot was full and I wondered out loud why the zoo would be so crowded on that day since I had never seen it like that before. My DH offered that it was because of the nice weather, to which I responded, "We live in California. EVERY day is nice!!!" Still don't know why everyone and their brother decided yesterday was a good day for a visit to the zoo. I'm not a kickbox sort of person. The few times I have attempted it I get a good workout but I feel incredibly uncoordinated and I'm not quite sure if I enjoy myself or not.

Jess, I love SB too! It's been a long time since I've done it though. Sounds like you have a fun day planned. Enjoy!

Carole, Mmmmm, Mexican food! Sounds like you had a nice birthday celebration with your family. How is your hamstring? When is your 10 mile race? I hope your training has not been messed up. Subbing the elliptical seems to keep things headed in the right direction for me. And remember Sarah used her elliptical for 6 weeks last year when she was training for her marathon? We all know how awesome she did....

Judy, You asked the other day about how I sub elliptical for running. I set the resistance at 8 and push it as hard as I can. I have the low end Precor so it does not give me a distance readout but can be determined using the total strides. However, it seems low to me and I figure it must have something to do with the stride length of the Precor. So, I consider 10 minutes as 1 "mile". Based on comparisons of my heart rate and my percieved level of exertion this formula is in line with actual running. Wow! You did have a busy weekend!

Christine, Another Mr. Yummypants? LOL! How come your girls are off all week?

Oh! Out of time! DH needs me. Hi Sunny and Shelly.

Talk to you all later.

Hi:

Shelly - I use the bands. I don't have a place that would work very well for the pull up bar. In fact, the bands are wrapped around the doorway around the corner so I have to crank up the sound so I know when to stop. }( I was thinking about figuring something out for the next 90 day rotation because I know that the pull up bar give a better workout for the chest, but right now I'm just trying things out. :)

Elaine - Kenpo is low impact in my mind, but the intensity you put in it is all up to you. There are some jogging minutes here and there and some jumping jacks, but nothing too hard on your knees or anything.

Marcia.

Hello Cheetahs! This will need to be a quick post today. DH & I had a nice quiet weekend, even though he had to work all day on Saturday. However on Saturday I did get in my 6 mile long run and then took Sunday as a rest day. I also just finished my 3.5 mile run during lunch today.

Today I've been contemplating signing up for a set of 3 races. Louisville has a set of 3 races they call the Triple Crown. Each race is progressively longer. On March 3 is the 5K, March 17th a 10K, and March 31st is a 10 miler. I'm thinking it might not be such a bad idea since my HM is the 28th of April. Is that too much too close to my HM?

Add me to the list of working cheetahs too!

Sorry there are no personals. I hope to be back later to take care of that.

Take care!:)

Christine, are you giving up meat for Lent? Just curious since isn't it only only Ash Wednesday and Fridays that Catholics are supposed to eat no meat with the exception of fish? That is what I have always been told and followed. I'm going to give up soft drink and pledge to lose 10 pounds during this lenten season. I'm glad you had a fun time at the tennis match.

Kristi -

Yeah, Ash Wednesday and Fridays are no meat days, but I just make Lent completely no meat except fish and shellfish. I'm also cutting way back on dairy. I've done it for a few years now. I've also gone vegan and vegetarian - I go back and forth so much on these, as the gang here knows... :+
