::::: CHEETAHS ::::: Mon, 2/19

Hello again cheetahs! Enjoying a quiet afternoon at home:) and getting in a second cheetahfix:7

Kristi- Great job on your runs! I'll bet you'll be in great shape for your first HM :7 Anyway, a good rule of thumb is that for every mile of racing you do you should take at least a day off.
So with that in mind you should be fine with doing the triple crown
and then the HM in April. BTW, I think that's a cute idea for a racing event in Kentucky! It makes me wish I still lived there :)

Barb- Thanks for your review of KBExt. I've been hearing alot of mixed reviews of this so I think I'll hold off for now. I do enjoy her style though and I like the HLext alot.

Elaine- Glad the PF is under control! Aren't EXTs great for crosstraining! Personally, I sweat more doing 10 minutes on the elliptical than I do 10 minutes at an easy running pace (10min/mile)
even with the resistance set at a low level!

Marcia- Keep up the fantastic work with p90x :7

I’m back! Did the 5 mile trail run – actually ended up being 6 because I had to park ½ a mile out. No worries – an extra mile never hurt. Tuck and I really enjoyed it. I have not done B&G yet – I had to be back in time to meet DH for lunch and I had to get groceries out of the way this morning. So, I’m hoping to get B&G in this afternoon. I was chuckling as I was tackling some of those hills thinking of S&H where Cathe pre-exhausts our legs. I was certainly doing that!!

Kristi – responded right below your post.

Jess – Lovely pic!! A beautiful Cheetah who does beautiful work in her bathroom! Thanks for sharing!

Shelly – I’m not accepting nominations until I actually DO B&G today! I’m hoping to come back after lunch, do B&G and wash my Mini which is filthy! Torn ACL for Birdy? Oh wow – that’s a big one! Hope she’s okay!! I was a shaking midget dog, too with PUB yesterday – felt great.

Linda – I was more worried about someone being in the house. I never thought I’d say this as I am originally from the East Coast, but a little quake like that is nothing. A brief bit of shaking – kind of feels like a big truck going by outside. Not a big deal. I think I’m a true Californian now :p You know – watching those guys play makes me want to start. My one gym has tennis courts, so I’m thinking I might be able to get lessons there.

Karen – Indian food can be spicy – depends on how it’s prepared. But cumin is in EVERYTHING, so if you don’t like cumin, Indian food may not be for you. For Lent it’s no meat except fish and no booze at all. I think that’s enough… :+

Sunny – Yeah, Andy’s a little babe. Sounds like a great workout you did! I do better when I work legs twice a week as well – but I need high reps, lower weights to really get in there good.

Elaine – Oh yeah – maybe he should be Mr. Yummyshorts, though as he’s always in them. Nice legs, too. :p My girls have off the week for Winter Break. I wish they would roll this into Christmas break and give three weeks off. Oh well. They also get a week off in April. Wasn’t like that when I was in school! :+

Oh Barb – add the infamous Bay to Breakers to my list of races – it’s the third Sunday in May (forget the exact day – think it’s like the 21st). Two of the women I started off on a running program in January want to do it. They’re running 4 miles now – at a very slow pace, but hey – they’re running it!! And they want to run this 12k. As we’ll have a driver so the parking issue (and getting back to the car after the race issue is solved), DH and I decided to join them. It is the most fun a 12k can ever be. Just you and 80,000 of your best friends – some in costume, some in nothing at all…. (www.baytobreakers.com).

Happy running!

Christine - You are a better woman than I am! :) :) You must have willpower of steel. I have a very hard time giving up soft drink, let alone meat. Also, my family of carnivores wouldn't know what food is without meat. Sad, I know (shaking my head in shame). I'm going to have a hard enough time trying to get them to eat fish as it is. LOL I think this is the first Lenten season where I feel mentally prepared to do what I said I'm going to do. My only hope is that I can keep strong throughout the season.

Whoa, the cheetah thread’s seein’ a lot of action today! :)

Good news ::: P90 arrived today!! YIPPEEeeeee!!! I’m debating whether or not to start today or wait til next Sunday. I looked for a pullup bar today, but neither Dick’s nor Sports Authority had the kind that could temporarily go over the door frame, so I still have to figure out what to do about that. I also don’t know whether to do Classic, Doubles, or Lean. I do want to lose about 20-25 lbs. Any suggestions? I took my before pictures (love how they called it “goodbye” pics!) – oof! What a painful experience THAT was…*lol*.

I didn’t make it over to Cathe’s gym as I got caught up with this morning. I graded about 50 essays and then went out to lunch (Applebee’s) with my dad. I behaved – ordered the grilled shrimp and spinach salad with tomato basil soup – yum!

I feel a bit sluggish again today, but I *will* work out after an early dinner. Then I’d like to do a bit more grading. I am *almost* caught up!! Hallelujah! *lol*

Boy, that was all me-me-me…Time for personals!!

Wendy :: glad you’re getting a little break from DOMS!

Laurie :: today is a federal holiday, so most schools here are closed. Sorry about the rough night’s sleep!

Sunny :: I was *really* surprised when I looked on the back of my first Cathe DVD and saw that she was local…I feel lucky that I can take a class with her from time to time…and I *STILL* want to join that gym…I talked about it last month but I never went through with it… I *want* to, but I have dropped A LOT of cash on home equipment (P90 and now Fluidity) lately, so I’ve held off…I’m afraid that things are so busy for me at the moment that I won’t be able to get over there as much as I want to. I will probably hold off on a decision until the summer when I’ll be done grad school and have fewer responsibilities. Hey, are you thinking about comin’ up for the 5K Shelly mentioned??

Karen :: hope you enjoyed B&G and didn’t need to stick your rear in the fridge this time. :)

Shelley :: yes, I am about 15-20 minutes from Cathe’s gym…sometimes on Mondays off, I pay the $10 visitor’s fee and take a KB class with her, but usually I am teaching when she has class…Hope you had fun with DD today & that all went well. Lunch & shopping sounds fun!

Marcia :: You’ve been a BEAST working out around the clock!!…Where did you get your bands?

Linda :: great job on the run & leg workout…I want Barry!!!…Maybe the “pressure” of posting here will help us make time for Fluidity. I will be so sour with myself if I shell out this much money and a) I don’t use it or b) it doesn’t work!…yes, I noticed with the Bar Method that you are up on the balls of your feet doing squats and plies…interesting.

Elaine :: good luck studying & getting your classwork done…the juggling act is not easy, so no pressure about personals!!…I am 15-20 minutes from her gym, but I found myself in a groove with my work and when I looked up at the clock, it was too late to make it there.

Barb :: sounds like a fun k’boxing workout this morning…What a little insecure creep on your son’s team…I’m glad big DS stepped in.

Jess :: I have to admit - once in a while, I do get a craving for McDonald’s or something similarly disgusting. Thanks for posting the cheetah shirt pic – adorable!

Carole :: wow, WTG holding off on the chips!! That’s willpower, woman! UGH, I hate the b-day singing at restaurants…hmm, did somebody mention sombrero pics??

Judy :: sounds like another jampacked weekend!! I am caught up with the grad work and the movie was fun ~ very cute, lots of laughs, and did I mention POPCORN??? :) A whole week off? And skiing in Canada?? Sweet!! Good luck to your son’s team.

Christine :: glad you all had a great time at the match…fierce workout today – rock on!!

Shelly :: how’s Birdy doing? I am not sure exactly when the last day of school is…probably around the 20th, so yeah, that date would be do-able for me.

Hey Kristi! The Triple Crown sounds great...Glad you enjoyed the alone time with DH.

OK, time to figure out an early dinner...I feel a craving for cereal -- is that weird? And then I'm gonna preview some of the P90s before I workout. My rotation says to either run or KB. I'm tempted to try Kenpo...

Cathy :)

Cathy - I found the band at a sporting goods store here in Minnesota. It fits great over my basement doorway. We ordered a bunch for my step class so we could do those on the toning days. I bet you'll love P90X as much as I do. :) I love being able to challenge myself or have a 'mediocre' day and just get the reps done. I think Tony is hilarious, too. So far, he has just made me laugh so much.

Enjoy it! and Bring It! }(

Marcia.

Cathy-congrats on getting P90x. I think Kenpo is less cardio-ish as a KB w.o., but that might just be for me not putting enough effort into it. It's drills all the way through. I like it a lot, but my HR doesn't get up there (again I might not be doing it right...)

Christine--good job on your run and on helping your friends learn to run. Good luck with your Lent challenge. You sound very organized.

Kristi--for Lent, doesn't it count that you have already given up time alone in the bathroom since you are so busy working and taking such good care of your kids? How long does Lent last?

Elaine-funny how yesterday was crowded at the zoo. So no matter where you live, when it warms up a little from where-ever it was before, people get happy and excited. I was interested in what your posted about the EXT and running equivalents. Thanks for the info!

Shelley--What's the date of your half or maybe you don't know yet because you haven't picked a race?

Barb
:)

Barb - You are a sweetie! Thanks for the kind words. To answer your question on how long Lent lasts, too long. :) :) But seriously, it begins on Ash Wednesday and doesn't end until Easter. I feel I can give a little more, as long as it is not my time, which I honestly don't have enough of, but who does. It will be a good time to kick my soft drink addiction. It is my only bad habit. Okay not my only. I do bite my nails badly. I've tried numerous times to stop, but nothing has worked.

Thanks for the updated race list. Wow, so many racing cheetahs!

Karen..I do have a pic...I will post it tomorrow!

Christine...hope you enjoyed the Leg Blast premix and the 5 mile run. I was very happy to run that 12 yesterday...:)...yeah I did feel silly last night, but my sister seems to always have that goal of you getting sung to on your B-Day.

Barb...yes it was a fun dinner. My sister is a bit on the silly/crazy side...:)

Jess...great cheetah shirt pic!!!

Shelly...sounds like the B&G premix is popular today. Enjoy your EXT workout. Yes, I have been doing the tennis ball massage. it does seem to help. I was worried running thru a bit of the pain yesterday would make it ache like hell last night, but it didn't! Sending good thoughts for your special Birdy...:)

Elaine...wow, you have been busy. I did have a great B-Day. I do think the ham is probably piriformis which I have dealt with before. I might skip the 10 miler as I don't know if I can do speedwork this week and I refuse to run this one slow...The EXT is great as it does not hurt the area at all...in fact only running does.

Cathy...Congrats on getting P90X!!!!! I did Doubles the first time and as I went vegan the same time I lost about 17 lbs. I did have chips at the restaurant, I just have avoided buying any for my home. I am proud of myself for that...:)..I do have a sombrero pic and I will post it tomorrow...:)...you are making me laugh as I never understand anyone eating cereal for dinner!! My best friend does all the time...:)

Kristi!...you have the racing bug...The Triple Crown sounds cool...:)

I had fun with P90X CST so now I am off to do an iClimb on my EXT and the stability abs from B&G...:)

Carol- I cant wait to see it. I am going to take a pic in my Cheetah shirt and will post that soon.

Cahty- No rear on fire anymore. Although my yard is a human ice box. If anyone needs there rear cool stick it out the door. I think this being my thrid time I'm not getting the doms anymore.

OK, I previewed Chest & Back and wound up doing that one + ARX. Of course, it was a bit of a cheat as I don't have bands OR a pullup bar, but I will order some bands tonight. I have to say - I like Tony. He's a kook! :) And I *love* that everyone working out looks REAL -- no phony smiles for the camera while in the meantime I'm cursing out the universe. These peeps looked like they were working every second - love that!! I'm not as crazy about ARX, though.

Barb :: thanks for the info on Kenpo. It appears as though I have started P90 today, so I'm due to get to that one later in the week.

Karen :: good point - we got the icebox going on up here, too. :) I'm sick of it!

Carole :: can't wait to see the pic!!...Yeah, I get weird hankerings to have cereal for dinner at times.

Where in the world do I fit my running into this program?? And what are some of the Cathes you sub for these? Or don't you sub? Or have people already addressed these questions & I should do a search on the open forum?

I'm gonna try to do Plyo in the AM as I have dinner plans tomorrow night. OK, off to buy some bands!

Cathy :)

ETA: Marcia :: I agree - he makes me laugh!

Hey Gals!

Sorry I haven't been around all day. Busy. I went to work this morning and then straight from there I headed up north to pick up Joey from nanny's house. Once home with him I was doing more de-cluttering and some cleaning. I have 4 more bags of trash to go out and it all came from mine and DH's closet!!! After all of that got done I FINALLY got my work out done! }( Now that everyone has eaten dinner and DS has some play time before bed, I am able to finally sit down and post a bit.

Cathy: I am doing the Classic rotation. Right now I do cardio, legs or an l/b circuit on Tuesdays when Tony does Plyo. I usually try to take my required class (cardio) at the gym on Thursday mornings and then do the yoga at night. On Saturday when Tony has Kenpo on the schedule I usually get my run in at the gym. You don't have to do it strictly "by the book" in order to get results. If you are interested in more then 3 days of cardio per week though, you could benefit from the Doubles rotation as it will give you a pre-written schedule to follow. Feel free to plug in any cardio you want! HTH!:)

ETA: Cathy: I am sooo happy to hear that you like Tony and his antics! All of the Tony-haters were really making me wonder if there was something wrong with me!?!:7 :7 :7

Okay, I'll try to get back for more personals later.

Until then ladies...:+

Lent is like Noah's big rain - 40 days and 40 nights... Kristi - I think giving up soda is a good idea. For me booze is tougher than giving up meat or soda! So, it's my sacrifice for the year. :+

I think the Tony haters are sticks in the mud! I adore Tony - he's like your goofy older brother. But, to each his/her own I guess - that's why there's such a variety!

Cathy - so glad you'll enjoy P90X!! When I was doing it, I usually lifted in the AM and ran in the afternoon. But, then again, I'm nuts and like to workout twice a day.

*Hands "SuperCheetah" title back to Shelly* Didn't get in B&G so I don't deserve the title. I'm totally beat but I've been eating well, so that's good.

Hey Ladies, I've been running on adrenaline all day, not in the good way. Murphy's Law ruled, I don't usually work Monday's and had everything timed to the minute to get out the door on time. I checked my phone messages after working out and Faith broke out in full body hives and needed to come home. I go to call the school and there's a new message from my other job so I call and get off the phone, go to call the school and there's ANOTHER message, this happened two more times and all the while I'm trying to get through to make a Doctor's appt. for me. I was late for everybody and everything today and the day felt like slogging through mud start to finish. GRRRRRR.......x( :-( x( I just want to sit and do nothing but not tonight.....Tomorrow can't help but be a better day.

Shelley, hope all went smoothly with Sophie's testing. Nice that she got some extra Mommy time with lunch and shopping.

Marcia, boy oh, for a day off you were one busy Cheetah!

Barb, thanks for sharing your DS story:) You must be so proud of both of them, I know seeing mine support each other warms my heart. Thanks for backing me up on the Ask Cathe forum, I was afraid that my point was going to get lost. I'm thrilled to bits that Cathe answered me...a first:)

Jess, I love your picture and the bright bathroom. I love it that you think of me during that sequence, it's just so darned fun!

Carole, sounds like you had a lot of fun with your family. Can't wait to see the sombrero pic:) lol at 'chips as a food group':7

Judy, that A LOT of hockey!! I bet your DD had a blast skiing, I'd love to get to Quebec this year but no concrete plans yet.

Christine, I mentioned to Faith that it's Shrove (pancake) Tuesday tomorrow and she got very happy for a second then a big let down. She changed from Catholic to public school this year so there will be no pancake lunch. A tradition she has enjoyed through all of her school year. We'll have pancakes tomorrow for dinner though. Kudos on your bravery, I was too scared to get out of bed, so much for my self defense.:) I don't eat any meat or fish during lent, maybe we should start a "Lenten Check-in", but that may not be PC, I dunno...

Shelly, the 'shakin' like a chiahuahua' comment cracks me right up!:7

Elaine, sounds like your plate is full to overflowing these days. Nice to see you checking in and glad the PF is under control!

Cathy, Wow, P90X and a Fluidity bar, you really are mixing it up! I think that's great. I am really wanting to get an elliptical, just 2 small details, the money tree is full pruned and I've got no place to put one!

Wendy, you've had a very productive day. What a great feeling!

Time to do some laundry....the fun just never stops:+ Enjoy your evening ladies.

Take Care
Laurie:)

Shelly - I get up at 4:00 a.m. Since we got Madison, I have to get up and let her out. Then I start working out at 4:30. the bootcamp workouts are only 30-40 minutes for each strength section, 30 minutes for each cardio section. So that makes it easy to add on to different runs. This morning I just did the 6 miles without his DVD. They are short, and very "to the point" for me :)

Cathy - I love Tony! He cracks me up! I hope you like it! I really think you will! You could get your running in by running on the weight days, like you do with the Gym Styles. I used it pretty much in the same way. A lot of times, I ran instead of using his cardio. I really hope you like Fluidity! I love it...I just need to "use" it!!

Christine - that would be great if you took tennis lessons! Sounds like fun! I remember feeling a tremor here in around 1978. We have only had a couple, but they scared me! I know they would be nothing compared to the ones you guys have out west, but it was really unusual for here!

Elaine - Good job on your elliptical runs! Wow, you had a very busy weekend! No President's Day for me x( Just a very long day at work. I just could not get into work at all.

Sunny - Yay! We were partners in BootCamp today! For some reason I always have DOMS with these! It is strange, because they seem to be "basic" moves, but with each one of them, I have been really pleasantly sore!

Kristi - Have you heard of the Hatfields and the McCoy's Marathon ?It is in Williamson, I believe. It is June 9th. I am thinking of running that one. It is a marathon and a 1/2 marathon. It starts in Ky and ends in Williamson, WV, I believe. I will check for sure!

ETA: Kristi - It starts in eastern Pike County (Goody is the town) and ends in Matewan for the 1/2 and Williamson, WV for the marathon.

Well, I am going to go to bed. Night!

Linda

hello,

Had bootcamp class tonight. Its amazing how many people dwindle out of class from when it first started. I did get a chance to do the leg premix from B & G but will get it in this week for sure. I had so much to do this weekend ,it was crazy.

carole- 17 lbs wow!how long have you maintained the wt loss?

well off to bed I go, talk to you all later!
