::: Cheetah:::Runners Monday 10/2

Hi Laurie,

I checked out the Cheetah checkin today, to see how you did with your race. You have me all choked up and teary now. What a wonderful race. I'm so glad you got to experience that. You're amazing.

Have a good recouperation week. You deserve it!!
Sandra

Barb...I am going to do iClimb 8 too. I also have 9 and I like it alot. Those precors are really nice Ellipticals. I can adjust my stride, but I have to get off the Elliptical! I have 12, 15 and 18 inch strides. I normally do 18 but have tried 12 and 15 also. I got Jari's Ripped to the Core also. But have not tried it yet...:)

I am back from a nice power walk w/ Allison in the jogger, we went 3.1 miles. Gorgeous day & Mikey (the dog) was happy to be out w/ us chasing grasshopers. ;-) He was on good behavior today.

I think I'll do some ab work later, KPC abs & maybe PUB & MM abs.

Allison's having fun playing My Little Ponies & I'm got a bit of CleanMax to do. Not too bad though since I got some done y'day.

Have a great afternoon!

Thanks Judy, Carole and Barb for the welcome.

Carole this is my first half marathon. It is the ING Miami Half on January 28, 2007. The Bahamas is indeed a great place to visit.

Barb it's funny 'cause I didn't think the Bahamas was such a cool place to live until I got here. I was born here but grew up in Jamaica, moved back to the Bahamas seven years ago. Needless to say Jamaica was home, now I can't leave Nassau for more than a couple weeks before getting homesick. Funny how things change.

I will definitely fill you guys in on my running as time goes by.

Kim

Checking back in while I pause for lunch. After all that talk about pumpkin bread, it could be quite the feeding frenzy... :)

Carole :: great news about John!! That must be a real boost for him. So glad to hear it. Yes, I am feeling OK and plan to fit something in later on this afternoon. I want to make a good dent in this pile first. :) So far, it's been less productive of a day than I'd hoped.

Laura :: thanks for sharing your half story. Too bad SIL gets to gloat. When you have the opportunity to train for the next one, you oughta smoke 'er at the finish. }( :)

Laurie :: your race description made it seem like we were right along there with you, experiencing the highs and lows you felt. I've encountered some amazing strangers at races, too - those running with and those on the sidelines. Great story!

Christine :: any word on the job offers?

Kim :: welcome to the check-in! We're glad to have you join us. :)

Hi to Sunny, Barb, Elaine, Jess, Karen, and all others who drop by today.

-Cathy :)

Carole--let me know what you think of the Jari Love RTC tape. Have fun with the iClimb. I will tell you which one I do..

Cathy-- fun to pop in at lunch.

Kim -- it is definitely funny how things change. But you must love having a lot of sunshine. No vit. D shortage for you in the Bahamas! I live in Michigan where it seems we have too many gray, cloudy days!!

Hi to everyone else....
back to work.
-Barb
:) :) :)

Hello Cheetahs,

Popping in for a quick check-in, will try to check back later to see what everyone's been up to. Today was a day off for me so I did a nice and long wo. I did Hillary Barnett's advanced pilates, followed by LM without the warm-up. LM was an absolute killer!, I burned 400 calories, that doesn't include the warm-up--I skipped that. I vote for LM2! Then, I did a 2.5 quick run on my TM. Got quite a bit done today! Looks like you all are doing well.

Have a great day everyone & a great wo!

Katrina:)

OK, my mish mosh was KPC abs, floorwork from L & G, then PUB abs. Lovin' the pikes! ;-)

Must go shower & start some laundry. Kiersten has a friend coming over to play after school & I'm sure a few other neighborhood girls will be here as usual. I love it though, I'm glad my girls have good friends to play outside with. (they like coming over since we have a big trampoline! ;-) )

Have a great afternoon!

Hi everyone!:) I'm definitely having a busier day than I'd anticipated!x( I'm only hurting when I walk, it's my darned right ankle giving me grief and my knees are a bit tender, upperbody feels great but my right inner thigh cramped up HARD in the car as I was raising my leg to put my shoe back on. Today I got my car back from getting a body job, it looks so much better and needed to be done before winter, I could poke my finger through the rocker panel, I don't know much about cars but I know that ain't good! It's my Mom's b-day and she just got back from getting a brand new car. The insurance co. wrote her's off after her and Elizabeth's recent accident. I've baked her a cake and will make some cheese and spinach lasagna rolls for supper:9 On a completely different note, how long should I rest now that I've run it?? I'll do yoga and upperbody this week, maybe even LM on Friday}( What are the guidlines for rest after a half? I'm also wondering how long is too long to break from running before it's like starting all over again?

Judy, thanks! I think it's great that you've found the right balance of running to fit into your life and schedule. We really do have to listen to the aches and pains, I'm learning that!:)

Cathy, how come your not teaching today? Having a week day off is such a nice break! Pumpkin bread mmmmm, maybe I'll make some for our Thanksgving next weekend..:9 I just put a pumpkin on our porch today!

Laura, Wow, I'm so impressed with your time! How long have you had the love of running, sounds like you are a determined and seasoned runner. That bronchitis sounds brutal! You should feel very pleased with yourself!

Sandra:):* :) Thanks sooooo much!!! It really was an amazing experience! I got your PM, it's really nice cathing up with you.

Barb, I love the premixes on PP and never do the workout as is. Your really liking the i-climbs hey?...I'm becoming intrigued by these workouts, Cheetahs are loving them! Thanks Barb, I really do feel accomplished:D

Thanks for that Karen!!!:)

Jess, thanks Marathoner!!!:7 I tell you Girl, I have a WHOOOOOLE new respct for marathoners! WOW, is all I can say!!!!:)

((((Elaine))))) Yes, you can relate all too well and I'm sorry for that:( Enjoy your time with your brother, he'll be so happy that you're there! Are you tapering? I can't remember when your marathon is.

:) Hey Sunny! Thanks, sounds like a busy day off!!

Christine! Thanks for the ^5:7 Too bad about the festival, sounds like you made the best of it though. Enjoy your tapering week and your run today. It's so true, the right instructor can make all of the difference in yoga.

Welcome Kim:) I did most of my training alone but did enjoy the option of running with the group. Nice to have you here:)

Thanks Carole:* Truth be told, it's as much your fault as Ruth's that I did this. When I first started posting here I asked 'when did you start working out and what motivates you to continue', you answered with a beautiful post about when you started running and how it had been a part of you most of your life and your love for running shone through bright and clear. I found it fascinating and interesting and had never thought of running that way, I always thought it was like an unpleasant penance to run before I read you words! You have a special place in my heart and I feel very sentimental about it today:) You touch so many in ways you'll never know! Sooo happy to hear about John's homecoming and Adam's up coming wedding. Some happy, positive turns for your family!:)

The Girls are home now, gotta go!

Take Care
Laurie:)

Barb- I have both ripped to the core and slim and lean. out of the two i like slim and lean best it is a muscle burner, hehehe

errandmax is now completed and i am off to pick up both of my boys. don't think i will have any time for cardio. however it's a nice day outside so i will take the boys outside and run around with them. that counts right, LOL;)

Good afternoon ladies,

I am so late today. I am having a rest day today, so I went and did some fall and winter shopping for my girlies. There is a lot going on here today, a lot of posts. It feels good notto have a workout today. For some reason my left leg and hams hurt only after a fast treadmill workout. When I run outside I am not usually too sore, because it is a lot slower pace.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and check-in. I have to run and go do my pickups. I will be back later for personals. Have a great afternoon and evening.

Susan

!

Hey everyone! I didn't get to post earlier. We were having computer issues at work today, so I waited until I got home ! Guess that is what I am "supposed" to do everyday, but...I don't (teehee) :+

Laura - That is still great! That is a great time, especially considering you walked some of it! Sorry it didn't flow too well for you and that you were in pain afterwards!

Laurie - I am so glad you had such a good experience! I had trouble holding back the tears when I read your post. I did not know about your DH. I am so sorry. I know it was a bittersweet day for you, no doubt! Great job!!

Susan - Isn't it funny how the treadmill and running outside can affect you in such different ways!

Sunnydelight - I love S&L! That is one of my favorite workouts! I did a rotation with just Jari's and cardio for around 3 months this summer. I actually had a ball with it! I hardly do anything besides Cathe's strength work, but I did that rotation and loved it!

Jess - Sounds like a good mishmosh! Your evening plans sound fun with the girls and trampoline! I am hoping and praying that I am able to keep running outside, even in the cold! The thoughts of coming inside with a hot cup of coffee makes it sounds so nice and cozy!

Kim - welcome! I love the Bahammas! I, too, am training "alone". I wish I had a running buddy or a running club to train with. But, this checkin sure helps!

Christine - Sorry about the rain! Is your half next week?

Barb - I have never done the premix of just lower body x 2 with PP! I will have to try that one!

Hi to everyone that I missed! Hope everyone has a good evening! I didn't do anything today! Had the Monday blahs! I usually take Monday's off. Hopefully, I will be back at it in the morning!

Linda

RE: !

Good night all. Again thanks so much for the welcome. I feel so much a part of this group as I follow this thread daily.

Jess, Laurie, Laura, Susan and whoever else had a race recently - Congratulation. Laurie, I logged on first thing this morning to get your race report and you didn't disappoint.

Carol - I look up to you alot especially with you running those long distances. Truly something to aspire to. I can see why you are Super Carol here.

I hope I get better at remembering all the names as time goes by. I just got done with Lowmax Premix 1-4, a goodie. I know I'll feel it in my legs tomorrow. I must get going though as I have schoolwork to finish up and work to look over for class tomorrow.

Enjoy your night all.
Kim

RE: !

Laurie- I have been running for 2 1/2 years now. My best half time was back in may 2:03. I felt so great after that half but it makes a BIG difference when you train for it. Saturdays half I didnt train for at all. I was able to get a few longer runs in but didnt decide until 2 weeks before hand to run it. I walked/ran the entire second half of the race. I had great time for the first half but like carole said, I really went out way too fast, would have been great for a 10k race though. That in itself, knowing I am able to run 6+ miles at a faster pace than I use to be able to sustain makes me delighted. I didnt go into this half thinking I was going to set a new PR just because I knew I didnt train for it. I found out today though that I am on the front page of the newspaper about the race, funny! my friend is going to bring it in to me tomorrow. Her hubby gets the vermillion paper.

thanks to all for your congrats, its the love of running and the way it makes you feel that keeps me going!!! and of course my fellow cheetahs here on the forum!!

Congrats to you laurie on your first half, you did great!!! dont you feel like you just achieved something great!!YOU DID!!!

thank you all for your support, your all great people!! and you help keep all of us motivated with our runs!!

yes my dear SIL got to gloat but that is okay, my day will come when I get to gloat to her and I am a patient person!!!she trained for it too and that makes a difference. I actually told her just think if I would have trained for it,making that time with walking and running the entire 2nd half, and she goes yeah! I just had to make a comment, I know I am evil!!

I had a hard time at work today, I gave my notice of resignation. I will really miss alot of my coworkers and I have been at the facility for 18 yrs. but the lack of help and increased responsibilties are getting stressful. I will be sad but my new job will pay more, 5$ more and my job now says they cant give much of a raise due to money issues.

well gotta go,talk with you all later!

RE: !

Hi cheetahs!

Checking in pretty late today and unfortunately, no time for shout-outs, but I just wanted to wave hello :).

I'm in taper now, and it's driving me batty!! I've got all kinds of energy that I want to burn, but I have to be judicious and not go crazy. Gah.

The weather here isn't helping, either. For most of the day, it was gloomy and blah--not good weather to make working outside very inviting!

Jennifer

RE: !

Just a quick check-in to report that I did PP tonight - was OK but don't think it's gonna be one of my faves.

Laura :: front page, eh? SIL's gonna love THAT one! :) Way to go!

Laurie :: we had off today in observance of Yom Kippur.

Good night, everyone else! TTY in the am.

RE: !

cathy--I disliked PP when I first did it, but it grew on me, especially using the premixes or mix & match. The original version straight through really frustrates me, but I like the DVD a lot now and use it on recovery weeks because of the sequence of the exercises.
glad you got a day off from work!
:) :)

Good Evening Ladies.

Think I'm late enough checking in today? LOL

Sorry I didn't come around today. I was in a really bad mood all day and just wasn't feelin' all too social. I posted a tiny bit in open discussion and that was about it. I am finally starting to feel a bit more like myself so I figured I'd pop in to let you all know I'm still alive and kickin'!

My work out went NOTHING like I had planned. I was supposed to do a weight work out at home (probably Jari) and then meet my friend for a 5pm run in the park. Well, with the onset of the foul mood I had no drive to do my weight work out and then when it came time for the run, my friend and I got our signals crossed and by the time we straightened them out it was too late. We are having no luck connecting lately! LOL We DID reschedule for this friday though. Hopefully it works out. :)

That being said, I FINALLY got my a$$ to the gym after dinner and did a 1 mile run (didn't have enough time for more x( ) and then I took the Power class which is weight lifting (all barbell work). I really enjoyed the class. I just wish I had timed it better to get a longer run in.:-(

Tomorrow I am going to register for that 5 mile race for Sunday. I confirmed it with my friend so it's a go. We have decided to sign up for a 5k 2 weeks after that as well!}( }( }(

Well, that's my story folks! Hope everyone had a better day than I did! LOL It wasn't a TOTAL waste though, I cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom really well in an attempt to burn off some negative energy. I also took a nap!:p

Hey, better late than never, right?? Sorry you had a bad workout day! At least you still got in a workout!!

Congrats on signing up for another race!!! You're a racing queen now, I told you you'd be hooked!!

Here I am again. I can NOT go to sleep & it's getting closer to 11PM!! I swear when I was marathon training that I'd be falling asleep on the couch at 9!! I don't sleep very soundly either, I keep waking up! I guess if I stay up late I'll be tired tomorrow but hopefully will sleep well tomorrow night?? It's worth a shot!

I'm planning on running after I drop Allison off at preschool tomorrow. It's supposed to hit almost 90 tomorrow!!! Heat wave again, what happened to our nice fall temps??

OK, enough babble from me. I almost thought about starting a new Cheetah thread, but I'll hopefully be asleep before midnight. ;-)
