STS 2.0 has eight recovery workouts with a wide variety of lengths and formats to keep you moving while you recover. You might be asking yourself “what exactly is active recovery?”

Active recovery, also known as active rest, is when you do some sort of movement that is less intense than your regular workout days. This can mean anything from yoga or light stretching, a walk or leisurely jog, or even a very light or non-weighted fitness workout.

In general, an active recovery day features easy workouts with no more than low to moderate intensity (somewhere around 30 to 60% of your max) and depending on your fitness level and available time, lasting anywhere from around 10 to 40 minutes.

Active recovery doesn't have to be a structured training session, but rather a light workout day involving less intense movement to increase blood flow and bring oxygen-rich blood to tissues and remove toxins. This is a healthy way to deliver nutrients to your muscles so that they can recover and heal.
