Can You Recommend Weight Training Videos or Dvd's Pleas...

I am new to Cathe's workouts and need your help. I am interested in her videos or dvd's that are mainly weight training. No aerobics.
Thanks so much, Melody

If you like low weights and high repetition then I would recommend Muscular Endurance and Muscle Max.
If you like high weights and lower repetition then I would recommend Pyramid Upper Body and Pyramid Lower Body.
Awesome leg workouts are Butts & Guts and Xpress Leaner Legs.
If you like doing a split routine the Gym Styles are awesome. I particularly like Gym Style Chest and Tricep. My chest muscles have DOMS for 2 days afterwards. The first time I had DOMS for 6 days. It's an awesome workout that has to be worked up to. Gym Style legs is also a particular favorite of mine.
I personally did not like the Slow and Heavy series.
I rarely do Pure Strength anymore but if you enjoy traditional weights they follow that strategy.
Have fun with your new workouts!

I use to be a bodybuilder using very heavy weights. My 22 year old son was diagnosed with cancer so I had to take this past year off. Now, I am doing more cardio (stepper, treadmill, elliptical) and have my own home gym, bowflex, weight bench, free weights. I would like to incorporate some weight training video's/dvd's. I have seen Cathe on Fit-tv so I would like to purchase some of her workouts. I have seen the Cathe Friedrich's Hardcore Series: Gym Style Back, Shoulders, Biceps DVD and Cathe Friedrich's Hardcore Series: Gym Style Chest & Triceps DVD, these look like 2 I would really be interested in.

I would have to disagree with the Pyramids being high weight, low rep. Each exercise is 48 reps, and PUB is done in superset fashion, so 96 reps per body part (144 for shoulders) with no real breaks other than changing weights. It's a wonderful workout, just not high weight, low rep. I would recommend Slow & Heavy b/c it's a wonderful way to work and build good muscle mass. I agree, though, finding the perfect workout will depend on your particular goals. Watching the previews and reading desciriptions should help, too. Good luck finding some great workouts :)

Hi:

If you are used to heavier weights/less reps, you definitely should invest in the Gym Styles series, and Slow and Heavy.

The other workouts mentioned above are really good and challenging but are more endurance based.. if you are familiar w/ Body Pump, they are similiar to that.

Take care, Lynn M.

Be careful Melody, there have been quite a few bootleg DVDs on e Bay. If it sounds too good to be true... procede with caution.

Melody,

What I have been doing is taping onto DVD's the one's that I need from FITTV I just watch out for them -- I have DirecTV and it tells you in the information section what the workout will be for the next day -- Supersets, Jump, Pump & Crunch etc.) or if you don't have DirecTV you can just just check to see when she comes on and tape based on what it is. I've got a great collection so far and I've only had to pay for the DVD blank tapes themselves.

My first vote would be for the Gym Style series. I just love this one for weight training!

Another great core and lower body DVD would be Butts and Guts. It's a nice compliment to GS: Legs

My next vote would be for the Slow & Heavy series. This is a wonderful series to bust plateaus. I pull this one out when I want to kick my muscles up and take it up a notch.

I'm not super-fond of all-over body weights, but Cathe has a few of those, too. I tend to prefer hitting a couple of body parts at a time - and hit 'em hard. With all-over body weights, I can't do that. I used to body build, too (never at a competitive level, though - more just for sport and personal fulfillment) and found that all-over body weights just didn't give me the results I wanted. Still, if I just want to do something different but still lift weights, I'll pull out Power Hour. That happens about twice a year.
