Bringing up the Rear Check-In

Sounds like you got a lot of good information yesterday at the PT. I hope your cortisone shot goes well tomorrow. I will be thinking of you!

Last night I did a strength workout from Get Glutes month 12. I have a feeling today is going to be a good day. I only have one meeting so it is looking good but then I remembered I forgot to put on deodorant today. Good thing I usually freeze at work. Oh my that does sound like an embarrassing position to be in. I would not like that all. I hope the shot area heals soon. I imagine it would leave a lump and/or bruise. Hopefully you will begin to feel relief in the next day or so. Lasting relief too. Maggie is moving around like normal but still has a cough. I imagine that might take a while to go away. Have a great day!

Wow I am really shocked they didn't warn you that you could have higher than normal pain the day after. That would have been good to know so you were not concerned. Glad you found something online to ease your mind. Hoping your pain continues to go down each day.

Sorry for being MIA so long. I ended up taking Friday off from work just because (finally). It was nice having a day doing nothing but being lazy and snuggling with my puppies. We handed out candy to trick-or-treaters with the dogs dressed up. Maggie was Eeyore and Ozzie was a monkey (I tried to attach pictures but couldn't figure it out - file size too large?). Ozzie was really bad and barked at all the kids. Saturday I did X52 and then DH and I ran errands. When we got back home I made some hamburgers on the grill to freeze for the winter and cooked some lentils up for adding to salads. Sunday I started Get Glutes month 13 and then did some work (from home). Just a little not a lot. Even with a day off the weekend seemed to fly by and we are back to Monday again.

Can’t believe it is Friday already (or that I am saying that). This week has been crazy with work which is why I am just now posting. Tuesday and Thursday I did Get Glutes strength workouts. This weekend I am hoping to get some major cleaning done. It has been a long time and my house definitely needs it. I also need to take work home again. It is times like these I just have to tell myself to be thankful I have a job and stop complaining about how stressful it is.

Well I wish your pain was better than tolerable but glad it is better than it was. You are doing so good with walking to stay active. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your next shot too!

Have a great day!

The weekend flew by again. I did CSS on Saturday and then major cleaning including shampooing my carpet (YEA!!). Sunday was a strength workout from Get Glutes and then I was lazy the rest of the day. I did a little work from home but not much. I just couldn’t make myself do it.

Nope, I have to work on Veteran’s Day. We only get 7 holidays. It is really tough after the new year because we have to go 5 months before our next holiday off. Oh no, do you think that your knee pain is referred pain from your back?

Have a great day!

Last night I did a Step Blast premix that was step combos 1 & 2 plus the Step Blast Challenge. It is hard doing the step blast challenge when I didn’t remember the 3rd combo. I finally got it down by the 3rd round of the challenge.

I am glad your knee got some good rest. I can see how speed walking could irritate a knee.

Have a great day!

Thanks for the encouragement on my workouts. I did do a strength workout last night. I really enjoy the variety I am getting now. Oh man. that is not good that bis/tris were causing your back to act strange. I am glad you recognized it and stopped. I do not have patience either. I think you are doing very good though. Keep it up and it will help you heal faster hopefully.

Last night I did Cycle Max Express. It was nice doing a spinning workout again. This morning our work email was having issues and we couldn’t get on to email for almost 2 hours. Funny how something like that freezes you up so you can’t function. I can totally see how doing standing work could irritate your back. I think if you do it again just stick to doing the exercises sitting or lying down. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Last night I did a strength workout from Get Glutes. So happy it is Friday. Have you checked out the clips for the new workouts? The upper body one looks like a doozy! I am hoping that when the new DVDs come in, Cathe puts together a rotation that includes spinning once a week with them. I am going to keep doing Get Glutes until the end of the year and then do a rotation for the new workouts. I am not sure how spinning would do for your back. Definitely be very cautious if you try it. Maybe try it on your own without putting in one of Cathe’s DVDs.

Have a great day!

Saturday I was going to do To The Max. I got about 2/3 of the way through the step cardio (so about 12 minutes in) and felt a pop in my right calf followed by pain when trying to walk or jump. So no workout on Saturday. After that, I had to run errands which is not so easy to do when you can’t push off your toes on one of your feet. I was able to rest it much of Saturday night and was actually able to get a weight workout in on Sunday morning. I had to be careful with the lower body stuff so as not to put too much strain on it but it felt nice. I am still having some stiffness so I might try to do some spinning tonight as I think that might be the only cardio I can do until this heals all the way.

I am glad you were able to do the Firm Standing Legs. Even without weight I bet you got a great workout in plus you played it safe. I think you might be able to do the new Cathe’s some day. You are a tough girl and will work your way through this and back to being able to do whatever you want. It might take a while but you can do it. I read on Video Fitness two ladies in their 70s are excited about the new Cathes. I hope that I can still do Cathe when I am 70.

Have a great day!

Yesterday I was able to do an express premix from Ride. No problems with my calf. It is still tender and while it is getting less painful and easier to walk normal again, I know I need more healing time. So looks like I will be sticking to spinning and weight lifting for a little while at least. I want to make sure I am completely healed up by the time the new DVDs come out so I can hiit it hard with those.

When I first read your post, I was like “oh no” but then when I kept reading and saw that your pain was good, I was like “YEA!!!”. So glad to hear that you found something you can do that doesn’t hurt your back. Good luck with your second shot.

Have a great day!

I am glad your shot was quick and painless. What a bummer about the no exercise. Especially since there was no pain when you did it. I guess they want you to play it safe. Just curious, how will they know whether the problem gets fixed? Will you have to get another MRI in a couple of weeks/months to see if the discs are better?

Since my calf is still tender, getting better but still tender, I did a premix from Pedal Power. I can imagine it will be hard to stick to just walking. It sounds like it is the best thing to do. Let's hope that after three weeks they let you start doing bodyweight lower body stuff again.

I did a Get Glutes strength workout yesterday. I’m not sure exactly what I did to my calf but I think I pulled a muscle. It is still tight in there. I can actually lift up on my toes again which I couldn’t for several days after it happened. I am hoping by Monday I can start doing non-cardio spinning again. Need to ease into it though so I don’t have another set back.

Saturday I did Cycle Max Extreme! After that I spent some time at my parents planning for Thanksgiving this weekend. Sunday was Get Glutes strength and then lazy day! I don’t feel very rested this morning so I am glad it is only a 3 day work week this week.

How are things going since you had your shot? Hopefully well.

Have a great day!

That’s great you were almost pain free. Sounds like things are going well. I bet it is very hard to not do lower body. You are doing awesome for holding back. Last night I did Athletic Step. First non-spinning cardio since I pulled my calf muscle. I did wear a compression sleeve for my calf which I think helped. So far so good with no problems.

Have a great day!

Last night I did a Get Glutes strength workout and then made a couple no bake cheesecakes for Thanksgiving. Need to make pumpkin bars, pumpkin pie, and cranberry sauce tonight. Hoping to also get Tabatacise (or at least most of it) done tonight too. Tomorrow is going to be another Get Glutes strength and then Thanksgiving feast! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I probably won’t get to post again until Monday.

This weekend was nice. Wednesday night I did Tabatacise and Thursday morning I did a Get Glutes strength workout before heading to my mom’s for Thanksgiving. Friday I did AOLIH and then went shopping with my parents and sister. It was not very crazy out this year except in the shoe department at Macy’s. I was trying on boots and it was like a disaster zone there. Saturday I took as a full rest day but did do some grocery shopping. Sunday was Get Glutes strength and then another day of being lazy. Now it is back to the daily grind. Kind of nice though since my eating was horrible over the weekend. Looking forward to getting back on track with that.

Last night I did the cardio from 4DS Kickbox. I love that one but it felt really easy last night and I felt like I could have done more. I didn’t though. I ended up getting some boots. Just ankle boots nothing tall. I have enormous calves and can never find boots to fit them. I did some online shopping on Thursday after dinner. Got some good deals at Best Buy and Bergners. Two walks are better than nothing. Especially with all the holiday festivities. What kind of fish?
