Bringing up the Rear Check-In

Sunday morning I did a couple of sets of heavy squats, deadlifts, and hip thrusts and then added on 2 sets + Finishers of the LIHI upper body. The drive in today was nuts. We had sleet and snow overnight and the roads were not cleared off. Took twice as long to get in to work than normal. My chest and tris are so sore and I am pretty exhausted for having been lazy most of yesterday.

Have a great day!

Monday night I did RWH Low Impact Hiit 1 plus X10 Low Impact. Last night I did RWH Circuit Lower Body. I really enjoyed that one and can see myself doing this one more often. Work is really crazy this week so if I don’t post often, please forgive me. It's funny but I do actually have pet health insurance on my dogs. I pay $35-40/month per dog. I am still trying to decide if it is worth it. Sometimes in the past I have not gotten much back and they excluded Maggie's hip dysplasia because it is genetic. We'll see how much I get back for Ozzie this time on whether it is worth it. Hope your roads are safe. Ice on roads is not good. Have a great day.

Wednesday night I did RWH Circuit Upper Body scrambled premix and last night was RWH LIHI Legs scrambler 1. I love when Cathe does scrambled premixes. Hope you are taking it a little slower and giving your back some time to rest. The pet insurance I have has an option to cover wellness exams, shots, and heartworm meds but I choose not to buy that option. I added up the cost I spend on those items and what I get back and it about equaled out so I figured it was more worth it to keep my money and just use the insurance for the major problems that come up. What I have will pay for antibiotics but Maggie’s pain meds for her arthritis and hip dysplasia are excluded. At least they were a few years ago. They have changed the policy but I haven’t looked into whether they would cover them now or not.

Have a great weekend!

Saturday morning I did Pedal Power Extreme. Then ran errands and did a few chores. Sunday morning I did STS Total Body and then was lazy the rest of the day. DH was so sad because the Packers lost to the Seahawks yesterday. I am so happy because there is only one more football game this year! J
I like UB circuit. I was fun and went by fast. I can imagine the cardio would be hard to do though. That is weird about the back extension machine. I wonder what his reasoning was. I imagine most people use them incorrectly and end up injured. I can understand the feeling of wanting to try it and the feeling of thinking I was insane for feeling that way. I have heard hanging from a pullup bar is also good forearm work so you should have a hulk-like grip after doing those for a few weeks.

Have a great day!

Last night I did RWH Plyo Hiit 2 + X10 Step. I have only done X10 Step once when it was first released and couldn’t remember what it was like other than I didn’t really care for the speed of the weight work at the end. Yep still don’t care for the speed of the weight work at the end. Last night’s workout was really tough and I had to take several breaks at the end of the X10 Step portion.

It is hard to hang from the bar. Definitely is a workout. Not a whack job. I guess I say that because I am the same way. DH hates watching football with me because I make fun of it. He went to his brother's to watch the game Sunday. I love deadlifts so I feel your loss.

Have a great day!

Last night was RWH Circuit Lower Body Scrambled. She repeated the touchdown plié jacks twice which I think was a mistake. I was really having a hard time last night but I think part of it was I wasn’t prepared for it. I like knowing the order of the exercises so I can mentally prepare and with the scrambled premix I didn’t know them. I have it written down now so I should have no excuses next time.

I like all the Hiits and it is really hard to decide which is my favorite or least favorite. If I had to choose, maybe Plyo 1. I still have LI2 to do so maybe that will be my favorite. Wow you really did fry your shoulders with that combo. I will try to play around on the hyper bench this weekend and let you know what I think. Yours is the 45 degree, right?

Last night I did RWH LIH2 plus X10 Fat Burning Circuit. I think that is my favorite X10 segment. RWH LIH2 doesn’t seems as intense as LIH1. My back extension is one that can do both flat and 45. I would think a 45 would be kinder on the back but I will play around with it this weekend and see if I can give you a better description. That is so great that you could do LIH and Pedal Power. That is a neat idea to use the step instead of the mat to increase the intensity. I do kinda feel that one lacks a little. Jumps and hovers can be tricky. I like when she takes longer counts rather than doing it quick. Have a great day!

Last night I did RWH LIHI Legs Scramble 2! This one seemed a little harder than the original. Doing this rotation has made me realize how much I miss doing Cathe workouts and how much I need endurance work. Get Glutes has been fun but it focuses on strength at lower rep ranges. I think I am going to start a new rotation of my own design starting Sunday. Sundays will be low rep Get Glutes inspired strength but the rest of the week will be a mix of all Cathes. Maybe some STS along with other workouts from other series.

Saturday I did Ride Extreme followed by errands and chores. Sunday was a Get Glutes inspired total body heavy weights session followed by being lazy the rest of the day!

I have noticed my butt getting rounder and my sister mentioned something about how my shelf has gotten bigger when we were trying on jeans the day after Thanksgiving. DH also seems to like it. My problem is I still have fat covering it so it probably could look better if I could eat right and get rid of the fat. If you could do bodyweight hip thrusts and glute bridges (double and single leg) I bet you could see some difference. Might be tricky right now to do those until your back heals more.

I did try the back extension machine over the weekend. When I did the flat bench, I noticed it most in my hamstrings and low back and could definitely see how this could cause back problems if you already have them or don't pay attention to keeping your spine neutral. With the 45 degree, I didn't notice it as much in my back but mostly in my glutes and a little in my hamstrings. You would need to be careful to keep in your spin in neutral and not hyperextend at the top. Since I am not a doctor I am not saying that you should be ok, just letting you know how I felt the exercises working my muscles. If you put the machine together and try it, would you still be able to send it back?

Glad you got to do some lifting. I did just the 2 set premix and could not do the finishers on my toes and struggled even at my knees. Don't know how Cathe did it on her toes other than she is a machine. Have a great day!

Last night I did 30/30 and added on the core only from Bootcamp. I think the original hiit workouts are harder than the RWH. I made it through last night but it was tough going.

Have a great day!

ETA: Hope everything is ok with all the snow and storms you got. What part of the east coast are you from again?

Last night I did STS M2D14 Legs! I loved it and forgot how much I loved it. So far so good with being able to walk today. Better watch myself though because I may get delayed DOMS just for saying that! I keep thinking it is Thursday and it is only Wednesday.

Wow that is a lot of snow. I know you like it though. Oh wouldn’t that be great if exercise was the key and we could eat what we wanted. I try to eat good and would say that I eat plenty of veggies, lean protein, and good carbs close to 80% of the time but I do have my cheats. Friday night pizza is a must! Shoveling snow counts as your workout. Hope you are rested from it.

Have a great day!

Last night I did RWH Circuit Upper Body. I really like that one. It is fun and goes by quick. I even like the bicep section which normally I hate doing biceps curls.

So glad your back is doing well. Enjoy your volunteering at the school. It is hard sometimes to come home and workout. I have to sometimes tell myself that I will feel better afterwards.

Have a great day!

Last night I did Cardio Leg Blast! I really enjoy that workout. So happy it is finally Friday! Today is going to be a crazy day at work though. I have meetings all morning and one in the afternoon. Hope I can find time to do actual work.

That's good for not beating yourself up. I think I am getting better at that too. It is a slow process. Have a great day!

Saturday I did Cycle Max Extreme and then ran errands and did some chores. Sunday was Get Glutes and then being lazy while we watched the snow fall, and fall, and fall. We only got about 7 inches which is way less than some parts out east so I am not complaining.

Uh oh! Sorry your back didn’t like the 1-legged glute bridges. I find I like those better if I elevate my leg on a high step with a couple of risers. Sore hamstrings are nice. Hope your were able to walk and sit without too much trouble.

Have a great day!

Last night I did RWH Low Impact HiiT 1 plus abs 1. I like the ab work in abs 1. I think I tend to like non-traditional core work better than standard crunches.

With all bridges and hip thrusts you definitely have to make sure you keep your spine neutral and do not hyperextend your back. That is where most people can have problems. You are definitely not lame. Shoveling snow is hard work so that definitely counts as exercise. I can understand when your schedule gets off it is hard to workout. Hopefully the kids will go back to school soon.

Have a great day!

Last night I did STS M3D26 plyo legs. It was fun and went by quick. I really love how she slows down the plyo moves in these. I really feel it. We are supposed to get more snow today during work. Wonder what the trip home will be like.

Awesome job for getting in RWH UBC with the delayed school opening. I haven’t tried it with the abs mixed in. I will say I was surprised by the lack of pushups in that one. She only does 1 set of 16! That is crazy for her.

Have a great day!

Last night was slow going home as the roads were horrible. I got home 30 minutes later than normal. I did do Total Body Trisets Upper Body but skipped the abs. All those pushups are tough. I also discovered my biceps strength is non-existant. I never worked them directly while doing Get Glutes. My new program schedule should be more evened out so hopefully I can build those babies back up.

That’s great that you can do the new DVDs. Modifications are great and think even though Cathe doesn’t do modifications during the workouts, she has prepared us with enough knowledge to know what to do on our own. I have not been impressed with any of the stretches on these new workouts either. Wow 4 days to make up. Hopefully you got to get your kids off to school today.

Have a great day!

Last night I did STS M1D3 Legs. It was fun and went by fast. So happy it is Friday. I have a busy Friday and Saturday and am looking forward to chilling on Sunday.

That’s crazy about the school. We had that happen to a school here last year I think. Hope your back is doing better from the snowblowing workout. I tell you it was tough getting into workout mode after getting home late the other night. I told myself to at least do the express premix but once I got my workout clothes on I decided I could do the whole thing.

Have a great day/weekend!

Saturday morning I did Pedal Power Extreme and then ran errands and did chores. Sunday was a Get Glutes strength workout and then being lazy. It was in the 40s over the weekend and most of the snow has melted. I can’t believe it is Monday again already.

Oh no, so sorry about your back. If it is from the snowblowing and shoveling at least that is something you can avoid in the future. I hope you got plenty of rest for it over the weekend.

Have a great day!

Last night I did RWH Plyo 1 + Abs 2. I had to take extra pauses but I made it through. I love the high reaching pop squat turns. I was actually bummed when we stopped at 10. Maybe I am crazy. The bike maneuver in the abs workout was not happening. It feels so awkward. I kind of just did my own thing.

That is great that your kids helped out. Even if he was struggling it is good for him to help. I bet he felt awesome for doing it. I completely understand about needing movement. I know yours is not arthritis but they tell people with joint and arthritis problems that moving is the best thing for them. I can't imagine that wouldn't hold true for most problems.
