I am dying to know what this one is like.mine will arrive 1-2 and this one will be done first.I love mindy m. ultimate boot camp and am sure this one will be tuff!!!

I think Donna is doing that one today. I could be wrong. She's been so good to us reviewing all of these tapes in detail. I hope you know you're extremely appreciated Donna! (And all the rest of you that have been posting reviews: Francine, Carol, Sonja, and all the rest whom I've been living vicariously through until my DVDs arrive!)

I did Boot Camp this morning. It is really a good solid workout. The cardio portions are only one minute each, so they are very do-able if you say to yourself: "I can do anything for one mintue" which Cathe points out in the BC video. I can't remember exactly what the cardio portions were, but they included: plyo jacks, airborne jumps, ariborne jacks, speed skaters, "terminator" squat thrusts, some kickboxing moves, kicking and punching, and regular jumping jacks.

The lower body and upper body weight work are the standard Cathe moves--squats, plie squats, lunges (static and forward/backward), leg presses onto the mini step, side and front kicks--and bicep curls, french presses, military presses (of course), pushups, and dead rows.

The ab work is really good. She uses the med ball for almost all of it including some of the plank work. I will feel it in my abs tomorrow.

I must say that I was sort of surprised at how out of breath I got after each minute of cardio, but the recovery is really quick and then you are on to the next thing!

Have fun!
Linda

Okay~can you say "private HE@@?"

Clearly Linda is in tip top "Cathe-ite" shape, because my experience this morning with BootCamp was NOT so calm and serene!

I vividly remember each torturous cardio "circuit" and all it's trimmings! :(

#1-and this was after an active warm up no less!, a jacks, 1/4 jacks, airborn circle jacks combo for like 8 repeated patterns, finishing with ALL airborn circle jacks!
(and really, it's kind of a rush, the kind that makes you say, "yeah baby! that's the way to work it!) But pace yourself, that was ONLY #1!
#2-sumo squats jumping from side to side (lots of load on the legs if you squat deep)(but an easier one in my opinion)
#3-a combo of jumping jacks and jabs from side to side, plyo jacks w/2 jumps, and 2 plyo jacks, for like maybe 8 or so repeats. (feels endless!)
#4-Cathe called them speed skaters (lateral jumps from side to side)
#5-*(a toughie)-squat thrust climbers, which were: a squat thrust,2 scissors, jump your feet in, jump to your feet. They wind the devil out of you, and there are either 6 or 8, not sure at the moment my heart was beating in my head at this point, then you get a break (say this with sarcasm!), and you do a series of air born jumps!, then return for another set of 6-8 squat thrust, 2 scissors, jump to your feets! (Without a doubt, the longest 1 min in the world!)
#6- a set of 28 sequencial power kicks. That's 28 on each leg!
#7-speed bag arms/knee lifts combo (like in CK), knee smashes/fast chambered kicks combo (not hard, but by this time your energy is draining big time!)and you finish with a series of air born jumps! (oh yay!)
#8-ice breakers w/jump (also like in CK) (and again, a really long 1 min because you are tired and winding down big time by this point!)

Honeybunch, your ears should have been ringing this morning because I was talking about you between breaths! Oh, around circuit #5 and beyond!
This thing made Imax 2 look like a good cardio workout! 1 minute is a LONG time!

Once I recover I'm sure I will appreciate this more, but for now, my thighs are tight, they hurt, and I'm soaked from sweat, so I'm going to shower and recover some more!

And I now know that not only is Cathe not from this planet, neither are her crew! This workout was meant to end our earthly population as we know it!

RE: Okay~can you say "private HE@@?"

Oh, and notice I didn't mention the 1min each of lower body/upper body/abs! They weren't the issue, they were all "normal" Cathe type stuff, difficult, but after the cardio, it was a breeze, I actually looked forward to being still and picking up a weight! :)

RE: Okay~can you say "private HE@@?"

I'm a DVD'er, but I have ordered the VHS of Boot Camp. After the descriptions, I just can't wait. And I'm also hoping that getting started with this one will help me me better prepared for The Terminator DVD.

RE: Okay~can you say "private HE@@?"

Miz d -

THANK YOU!!!!!! Well, hey, you made it through it; you didn't whine and wimper, you JUST DID IT! I'm proud of you, and I'll bet you were not saying nice words to me during the workout, but that's OK.

Admit it, you're proud of yourself, too, aren't you?!

Just Do It! :)

RE: Okay~can you say "private HE@@?"

Donna,
Thanks so much for your review on Cathe's "Bootcamp" video. I was very disappointed when I read a review at the yaya's site, that stated that Cathe's "Bootcamp" video was a light day workout. (Your review made my day:)

RE: Okay~can you say "private HE@@?"

I did Bootcamp yesterday! It was different than what I'm used to. The cardio portions were intense but definately doable - esp after all this time with Imax. The tough stuff for me was the minute of tricep dips and those planks! But it went quick! And I loved the ab segments - refreshingly different. I can't wait to try the others!

Tonya,

What insane person said this was a light day workout? She must be more fit than Cathe because even Cathe was huffin' & puffin in between the cardio & weight segments! I used very light weights--3 lb--my whole body was trembling when I quit this one after Interval 5! I think that person was telling a big fat fiberino!!!! LOL

RE: Okay~can you say "private HE@@?"

Donna,
I actually read that foolish review at the yaya's site lastnight. If Cathe is huffin & puffin, then it has to be
a true enough Cathe workout. I will have to stay away from that forum, and start reading the reviews here instead. Like I said, you certainly made my day after I read your review:) My videos are due to arrive on 1/03, and I cannot wait to start huffin & puffin with Cathe.

Well, possibly for the "super duper fit and fantastic" but for me as a mere mortal, I found it quite satisfactorily difficult and grueling! :)

Perhaps that person should increase their weight load, I'm sure that would make it more difficult!

RE: Tonya.............

Hi all. I'm the "insane" superwoman that said Bootcamp was a light day for me. LOL!!! No need to avoid the Ya Ya forum just because of one opinion...that would be ludicrous. I'm sure there will be many other Ya Yas with different opinions than mine. I actually used the same amount of weight Cathe did during the weight work and felt I could've gone heavier. The number of reps were small compared to her other videos. Heck I did Muscular Endurance the day before so compared to that it was easy. The one minute cardio bursts were very intense and yes I got very winded...just like Cathe and her crew...but Cathe gives you plenty of time to cool down and get the heartrate down before plunging into the following weight sections. I get much more of a cardio workout with Circuit Max and the new Cardio and Weights.

Sorry, I couldn't resist coming out of lurkdom for this one. Enjoy Bootcamp, I sure did!

RE: Tonya.............

Hi Mandy,
I have to agree with you on the light day remark. After I finished it I thought it would be great to do it after a CTX cardio for a really nice cardio/endurance workout. I loved the workout--I think it's the most interesting ab work I've ever done. I think it is so doable because of the adequate rest.
I went heavier on all of the weights, and I think because it was my first time through I felt like I had to hold back in case things got really tough. I bet it feels harder next time when I know it a little better and give it my all with heavier weights. I am so glad to have the variety and the music was great! I have to add that the terminator squat thrust interval was one of the hardest minutes of my adult life! Cathe has done a great job! Have a great day. Janet

RE: Tonya.............

Janet,
I got my Intensity videos yesterday, and the first video I did was "Bootcamp". I have to agree with you, that bootcamp is very doable, and not as hard as I thought it would be. I loved the "plank" work":) But I don't have a clue to how to work this video into my rotaton though:(
