Bodybuilding/Sculpting check-in;-)

This afternoon I did Suzanne Bowen's Barre Amped (again) - Light Weight Work (UB), Thigh Work, and Seat Work
This workout caused some DOMS in my weaker calf yesterday so I figured it was a good one to continue doing. Small, controlled movements.
I'm feeling small steady improvements in my knee. I stopped taking the Ibuprofen for 2 days and my stomach feels so much better. Thanks Elaine. I suppose I should call my doctor tomorrow about it.

Ilovefitness, I workout mainly for health, the physical and mental benefits, and because I enjoy it so much! I do it for myself.

Elaine, nice Plyo HiiT/Crossfire combo!

Jen, will you be posting reviews of Tapout XT after doing them a few times?

Nice workouts everyone!!!

Good morning! This morning was Tapout XT Legs & Back + Max:30 Pulse. Planned doubles is Max:30 Friday Fight 1.

Mary, yes, I am currently working on reviews for Tapout XT 1 & 2 and Max:30 as I do them. Tapout XT 1 will probably post around the third week of February and Max:30 and Tapout XT 2 probably at the very end of February. I had to spend a lot of constructing this month's rotation just to get everything to fit. Now I have to stick to it! It will be a tough month. So far every workout is wearing me out! Except Pulse this morning. That is a recovery workout and it was very nice to do after Tapout Legs & Back which wore me out!

I hate having to take any kind of pain meds Mary. But I know that sometimes you have no choice just to manage. I have to take 1/2 a tramadol almost every Saturday and am still on crutches by the end of the day. But that is life with chronic injuries. It's weird that every morning and after work I can plyo all over the place, but after being on my feet all day on Saturdays I can barely walk. The weird weather changes have been making my feet cranky during the day sometimes, but the occasional excedrin helps with that. We just work through it, right?

Oh my gosh Jen! I'm sorry you have the chronic pain on Saturdays! You amaze me with your doubles, and yet I had no idea what you go through every week. Yup, but we do what we can. (I'll still think of you as Super Woman. ;) )

I'll probably take a rest day, or maybe a stretch later. I'm icing now. But I'm anticipating a heavy upper body workout for tomorrow morning!!! Really looking forward to that! :D

Welcome ilovefitness! Have fun with the photo shoots! I don't workout for vanity either. I haven't since I was young. I worked out off and on for years but in my late 20s I started having horrible back problems--in my 20s!!! I started working out regularly and the back problems went away, never to return until the past few years (I'm 44 now) but no where near the severity it was in my 20s--plus it heals very quickly and happens infrequently. Plus, I felt so good after I started working out regularly. So strong and capable of doing anything. Running up stairs that used to wear me out, carrying heavy things around the house. I would remember how it used to tax me and then it stopped--it became easy. Ever since then I never stopped working out. It's all about how it makes me feel. And I like muscle, too! And you're right, the only person I ever compete against is myself.

Thanks for the welcome. I so appreciate it. :) Thanks for also sharing your fitness journey with me. I agree with you. Good solid fitness can steer you into a stronger being and live a fuller life. I suffered from a sports injury a long while back. I was told that due to my fitness conditioning, I was able to cut my PT short. Before the injury, I paid little attention to my physical anatomy. But now I am a lot wiser.

Today was RWH Chest, Tris & Shoulders. 12 regular and 6 decline pushups on my toes. Woohoo!! I really do love to hate that workout.

Hey ilovefitness! I really enjoyed your post about fitness buddies so welcome to the party here.

Thanks for the welcome as well. You did a nice workout today. :)

Today is my last day of rest week. Tomorrow I will hit the weights first and then a short cardio session later. I did Turbo Barre today. A very innocent looking workout, but quite brutal in that hamstring session. I am I am getting stronger, as I don't think I am cringing as much. :D After Turbo Barre, I did stretching on a foam roller.

This next round of training for me is a 4 week rotation in different rep ranges. I won't use Cathe's workouts. (Hope I am still welcome here. ) I mix and match a lot. One issue for me right now is I seem to have more energy on a high fat diet. High fat for me is lots of nuts/sees. I sparingly use extra virgin olive oil. I can eat lots of animal/vegetarian proteins or whole grain carbs/legumes and they don't sate my hunger. Wondering if any ladies out there have the same issue.

ilovefitness--don't worry, we all do a variety of workouts. Cathe is my #1 favorite trainer and the one I come back to the most, but I have a lot of other favorite trainers, too. Plus I have a workout DVD/program hoarding problem so I am constantly trying new things. This month I am only doing one Cathe workout! STS Total Body once a week. So you are definitely welcome!

And I have to be careful with my diet, too. I have to eat lots of protien to keep me satiated and repair my muscles, but plenty of carbs, too, to give me the energy to get through my workouts. So it is a balancing act--especially at 44; I have to watch the calories too! I try to stick with the veggies, fruit and whole grains for my carbs, too, but I won't lie. I love sugary food, too. I just try to eat in moderation rather than give it up completely.

Good morning, afternoon, evening ladies,

It's 8pm west europe time. I did LIHI leg this morning.

In fact I was supposed, as per cathe rotation, to do the RwH leg circuit.
Boy that was a shock:eek::eek::eek:. It was a shock because I was not mentally prepared for it.
Now I am looking forward to do it at least twice before moving on to another rotation:):):).
I love the rep range. This is definitely a different rep range to anything cathe has produced before.

It's truly a no nonsense workout. I felt the courtesy lounge from the first move:p:p
It is a true heavy leg workout.

To Ilovefitness, You can report workout done from any trainer.
It is fine;)

I will check in later on this week end after reviewing my next week rotation.
I want to repeat this week with few add on only.

Take care ladies,:):)

Today is a rest day for me. Funny snippet...I was having a conversation with a co-worker, leaning forward in my chair with my arms bent and resting on the arm rests. My co-worker stopped mid-sentence and said the definition in my arms was amazing. Haha, thank you Cathe!

Ilovefitness, I love nuts and seeds! There are days when I have some at every meal. They are one of my favorite sources of protein and really satisfy my hunger.

I've been trying to map out my next rotation, but work keeps getting in the way today! :p

Here is my rotation for the past week.

Day 1 -- Crossfire (Circuit Blast)
Day 2 -- RWH Chest, Triceps, Shoulders
Day 3 -- Crossfire (Plyo Tabata)
Day 4 -- RWH Lift it Hiit it Legs (premix 1- Strength only)
Day 5 -- RWH Back, Biceps, Shoulders
Day 6 -- Crossfire (Firewalker Tabata ( I was breathless after this one and sore the next day)
Day 7 -- RWH Lift it Hiit it Legs (Premix 1- Strength only)

Today is a rest day.

What I learned. I can push myself a little harder. The breathless feeling after the firewalker tabata was an eye opener. It was an
aha moment about taking my workouts to the next level. I also learned that I need more water and sleep. Its so much harder for me to
drink water when its cold outside. I drink water but not not enough. Love a hot cup of coffee on a cold morning. ;)
Im enjoying using one cardio dvd for the week and using different premixes based on time and what feels best for my body.

Next week

Will continue with RWH for strength and will choose a different cardio. Thanks to all of you who post. I read often and like knowing
that there is a community of Cathe fanatics to keep me motivated.

This morning was Tapout 2: Cross Core Combat 2. Yesterday I was afraid I would be forced to take a rest day today. Either Tapout 1's Legs & Back or Max:30's Friday Fight 1 (or the combination of doing both of them yesterday!) burned my legs out. BAD. My quads, hips and hip flexors were aching yesterday evening. Even when I was just sitting there watching tv! I ate lots of protein and got a good nights sleep--and this morning my legs were/are 100% and I was able workout this morning no problem. I'm glad, too--Cross Core Combat 2 was definitely a big step up from Cross Core Combat 1! It wore me out! I needed strong legs to get through it!

Welcome healing11!

I'm feeling some doms on the side of my my glutes I think it's from the courtesy squats.I really tried to go deep while doing them.
This morning I did x train chest, back, shoulders rounds 5-8, then bis and tris rounds 5-9 . I did the bis from round 8 with the tris from round 7.

We are expecting more snow from Sunday thru Tuesday. Between all the snow and the below zero temps I think I now live in Alaska. ;)

HI LADIES.....

THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME HERE!... And the warm welcome plus sharing the dietary feedback with me. I so appreciate it. It's always so cool to be able to hang out with a bunch of like-minded fitness buffs. :)

I actually wake up every morning at 5am to exercise in my home gym. Most people are like....you are crazy. Hahaha :D But I told them fitness reduces my job stress, gives me plenty of energy during the day, plus puts me in a deep slumber at night.

So today I did a total body weight circuit, consisting of 9 exercises with a focus on lower body, chest and back. In the bonus exercise, I did 5 sets of chin-ups, triple threat pushups, and curtsy lunge and reach with a medicine ball. This is the first day of exercise after coming out of 1 full week of rest. :D I feel good today. :)

I hope everyone is doing well and bringing it today!!!

Hi everyone! Today was treadmill day. Nothing exciting. I start my KCM rotation tomorrow, and I am excited about that. Always love trying new workouts.

Elaine, I do not envy you with all that snow! I used to live in NJ and hated dealing with the snow cleanup. I'm now in MS and a sunny, 60 degree day in February is much more to my liking.

Sorry I haven't checked in in almost a week, we've been doing some remodeling in the house. We are about half done, the last part is making my workout room larger:D!!! So I've been able to fit in a couple of workouts the last 2 days. Yesterday was 2 of the Cathe live workouts, Solid cardio plus Hitt and Upper body sculpting. Today was PRS#1 and just finished Great Glutes extreme premix. I cannot believe all of the stuff I found tucked away in bins and boxes. I threw some out, donated a lot to a local thrift store that the money goes to the local human society, and I'm going to try to sell the rest. I have to pick out new carpet for my workout room and have no idea on what to get. I don't want it as plush as I have it now, but I also don't want rough stuff. I'm hoping to find something in the middle. Hope everyone who is getting snow is surviving and wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Kim

This morning I did Pyramid Upper Body. I went up in weight on all of the exercises! :D The last time I did this workout was in June.

healing11 - I love how you did the different Cross Fire premixes all week. I was looking at Turbo Barre this afternoon and thinking of the same -- doing different segments for different workouts. After all, it is 74 minutes long!

But I told them fitness reduces my job stress, gives me plenty of energy during the day, plus puts me in a deep slumber at night.

ilovefitness - So true! Isn't it too bad more people don't know/don't care?

Kim - Oh, how lucky you are to be getting a bigger workout space! I appreciate the space I have but I sure could use a little more. :D

This morning was KCM's Muscle Up 1 & 2 + her Home Gym Intervals Bonus Waistline. After a week of Tapout + Max:30, this felt like a recovery day! I haven't done Muscle up in a while and I forgot how much I enjoy KCM's workouts and Muscle Up in particular. The last time I did Muscle Up was June 2014 and since then I've done Body Beast and RwH--the weights I used this morning were a huge jump from the last time I did Muscle Up! I was very pleased!

Mary, I love Cathe's Pyramid workouts--they are some of my favorites and so hard and painful--but in a good way! The Pyramid Lower Body is killer too--the floor work hurts worse than the standing weight work!

Yay for a bigger workout room Kim! We did that last year. Our workout room is an add on room whoever owned our house 20+ years ago built on and it had low ceilings and was falling apart. Last year we had the entire room torn down and rebuilt it, bigger, with high ceiling and huge windows. Now it is my favorite room in the house--I love going in there twice a day and working out. Now that my husband is working out, too, he is really getting into upgrading even more. He is doing P90 + Body Beast right now and this weekend he mounted this bar on the wall so he doesn't have to attach his resistance bands for P90 to the french doors anymore--you just loop them in the bar. I'm pretty excited because I use bands when I do Body Beast and P90X--so now I have it ready for me when I return to those programs.

Jodi--what KCMs are you doing? I love her workouts so much. I spent one evening a few weeks ago putting together themed rotations using Cathe's series (so quite a few of those rotations), a KCM rotation, a Michelle Dozois rotation, an Ilaria Montagnani rotation, and a metabolic rotation using Patrick Goudeau, Paul Katami and Toby Massenberg. Now I'll have to get around to actually doing these rotations!

Elaine--I hope you get dug out again! We're back to nice weather here in OK. It's supposed to be in the 70s today!

I'm the same way ilovefitness--I am up at 4:20 every morning to workout then I come home and workout after work. My husband and the few people I talk to about it think I am crazy, but I don't talk about it to my coworkers so they have no clue. A good friend of mine at work has asked for advice and has tried Insanity and Jillian Michaels Body Revolution and we sometimes talk about that, but she is an on and off exerciser and battling with her weight, so I don't really talk about how I work out 2x a day. Seems insensitive! That's why I come to this board! To talk to like-minded people!

Jengolf, I envy your windows in your workout room. I workout in our basement. I have a space of about 10x10 , then another small area near my washer and dryer for my bike on its trainer.I think windows would just brighten it up. Sigh, :)

I shoveled a bit this morning and hope to snowshoe later.

ilovefitness - So true! Isn't it too bad more people don't know/don't care?

It seem to me the majority would rather opt for quick fixes - sleep aids, energy drinks to stay afloat. Just say there's a magic pill that would instantaneously make a person ripped. I'd still opt for the harder route. I am competitive with myself this way. :)

Wow, YOU ROCK. I am disciplined like you are. The profession I am in allows me to telecommute, but I always manage to wake up at 5am to do a nice session. Yes, I really believe in general, talking about fitness and sound nutrition have become a very touchy subject. I don't talk about them except my male buddies. In other words, I don't volunteer information. ;) It's safer this way.

So today I did a HiiT cardio session using Insanity. I like Insanity, but I will not attempt a full rotation again. Too much wear and tear if done on a consistent basis. :p Afterwards, I did a light yoga and foam roller stretch. :) I am happy.

One thing, though. I thrive on a higher fat diet for some reason. That said, I need to remind myself to measure out the tablespoonfuls of organic nut butters. I swear I could down a whole jar if I did not watch it. This continues to be my biggest weakness. I don't have a sweet tooth, funny enough. Another funny thing is the higher fat (nuts/seeds, avocado) diet actually gives me more energy. I am working on muscle definitions and I know higher protein is the norm with quality carbs, but I can never sate my hunger with higher protein for some reason. I am about to conclude that perhaps macro nutrient ratio is really an individual thing?!

This morning I did Tracie Long's The FIRM Sculpted Buns, Hips, and Thighs. This was all floorwork and about half of it was abs. I didn't use ankle weights or dumbells so it was not challenging for my good leg, but hard for my injured one. Ugh.

ilovefitness - I think I do pretty well with a high fat diet too. The fats keep me from getting hungry. As long as the fruits, grains (especially), starchy vegetables are limited and only eat when I'm hungry then I pretty much lose excess weight steadily. I have to be mindful of what I'm eating though.
