Anyone have friends who workout?

I just realized....
None of my friends workout!!!
I always here people talk about their diet or their need to lose weight but I never hear anyone say anything about exercise!!! Strange huh?

My best friends are my girlfriends from High School. That's over 25 years ago, the rest are from college or my son's school. I am actually sitting here trying to think of anyone I know who regularly works out.:eek::eek:

Maybe that's why I love this forum so much. People who LIKE to workout. Hmmmmm.

Anyone have friends who workout????
Besides our Cathe friends???
Sooooo curious

Yes, I would say the majority of my friends do workout. It just so happened to turn out that way. :)

Funny story: I was just talking to my friend/co-worker about this. She works out at the gym every day after work. (4 times a week) She just does about 30 - 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical or other cardio machine. She recently went down to a size 4 from a size 8 by eating Chipotle salads with chicken every day at lunch (including her workouts) :) She doesn't get any dressing, but she'll get the chips and salsa on the side. :) Too funny! It's her biggest meal of the day though. She'll eat a small breakfast and small dinner.

I have a handful of good friends who have run marathons. My best friend is a personal trainer and also has run 1/2 marathons. :D

My DD started stepping about 5 months ago. My DH has always worked out, running, weight training and stepping. My sister has worked out on and off. My special needs son works out by walking. My sister-in-law halfheartedly runs. My niece is an on again off again exerciser. But, friends? Nah, none except the ones I've made here. I have a few acquaintances who exercise, but none of my friends.

I'll assume 12 ounce curls don't count..in that case...my answer is no.

My SIL works out when she can. She is a personal trainer with 2 kids, a hubby and a CRAZY schedule. She loves to exercise but doesn't make the time for herself to do it.

I have my one running buddy/friend but she is on again off again because as soon as life gets busy she bails and does not make time for it either. I don't think she's run in months now!

My BFF and her good friend both work out thanks to yours truly. ;) I started training them at the end of last summer and they are still working out today! My BFF has lost alot of weight and looks FANTASTIC! I'm so happy for her. :)

None of my neighbors or friends workout and none of them are even interested. When I see neighbors they say, "are you still doing that exercising business?" like it is so menial or something. Then I get people who say I workout too much, when all I do is put in about one hour per day. And I know better than to talk about it or bring it up myself, of course, because then poeple think you are bragging or something!

Yes. I got my best friend doing Cathe (she was mostly doing Jari/firm/taebo before). We joke that all we ever talk about are workouts and food. But that's just not true, we occasionally talk about our boys who are the same age. :)

Another good friend works out at a gym but has a home gym as well. I think I may have convinced her to try MM, but not sure she ever bought it. I got her all excited about cardio coach but I don't think she does that!

Another friend at work -- it's a guy -- plays underwater hockey a few times a week. That's a workout at two hours a crack!

I do spinning and running with a friend and have another who runs but that's it. Everyone else I know is a potato.

Me too Kassia. Unfortunately everyone in my family are very overweight and their eating habits are scary

My closest friend of over 20 years is in great shape but she doesn't workout. She does however eat very healthy and has a 4 yr old that keeps her busy :)

No, none of my friends w/o either. I lived with my sister for years and we used to w/o to Kathy or Richard Simmons in the living room together + another friend would come over occasionally too. But now that all seems to have dried up. Last year I moved and when my SIL visited we did w/o together, but she is more of a runner so trying a home video was a nice change for her. I have 2 steps so would welcome a companion sometimes! I have gotten a couple guys here at work onto P90X though recently so slowly starting to convert co-workers!:p:D

Only my Cathe-World friends!

I wish my friends would work out. I have one friend who runs once in a while. I'm not sure that's really working out. She also doesn't believe in lifting "heavy" weights.

My sister is very heavy and needs to work out, but is too miserable in her life circumstances to start. My best friend is probably obese. I love her dearly, but she has gained sooooo much weight since I've known her. She used to work out, but doesn't any more. :(

My DH works out -- by himself on weekdays and with me on weekends. (He can't manage the 5:00 wake-up call on weekdays!) I'm glad he does, because he's looking good these days! But Cathe still beats him up, even though he uses lighter weights. He says the slow pace and high number of reps does him in! :D

I'm lucky that I have 4 good running/ biking buddies, but most of them aren't into weight training. They're more just cardio queens. ;)

I've gotten a lot of my family/ friends into working out and trying to eat healthier except for my IL's. I try, but it just doesn't seem to help!

I love this forum for people that are really focused on a healthier lifestyle. I feel like I'm the only one around here really into clean eating, and get teased for not eating cake, candy, junk, etc. I don't care anymore though!!

I have quite a few friends who work out as well as my SO. I am trying to convince one of my friends that she needs to work a little harder...she tries but I don't think she truly believes in herself. I am going to give her the NROL for Women for her b-day just to inspire her.

Good idea! I thought that was a good book. It seems I can get my friends to walk or do some cardio, but weight training just seems to scare them! One of these days, I hope to get them lifting!!

Sore point. I live in NYC and come from a family of athletes. Compared to the people I live among, I am a slug. Mind you, I'm very healthy and am in good shape. I'm just a relative slug. :p

I guess Id have to say that only some of my friends "workout".. and I say "workout" cuz they hop around to a 30 minute DVD in their bedroom with pink dumbells :)

I don't mind though, Im always happy to try and map out a routine for them that they can do-- with what they have! Something that will do more for them than what they are doing.

Im at the "in-between" age range where most my friends are past the age of "high-school fitness" and not quite at the age where they've re-asessed themselves and become a born-again gym-goer.

Once they realize they don't still have it and that the calories don't just dissappear into htin air I hope that they will get back on the wagon :)

.. oh I guess i should mention that my partner trains.. their the one that got me crazy into it myself (although I bet now ther wishing they hadn't lol-- jk)

They don't train as hard as I do (they say it ruins their golf swing or something- *pht* :)

Then I have a friend that used to live upstairs form my apartment. She came down with me a few times to lift with me. She's bigger than me enough that she could easily double my weights (if she was as 'strong' as me), however I was lifting twice her weights.
The next day at work she was calling me "Rocky" and "Animal" all day.. I said, "Angie, we didn't work that hard", "Im so sore today though! Aren't you sore?"
"No, after you left I went and did the whole routine again!"

It's funny how some poeple make you feel real strong and amazon.. then others (like other fitness forums and serious trainers at the gym) that make you see how much further you can go!

I guess that would require actually having real live friends! :) I have co-worker/friends and only one of them actually works out, but if I did her workouts I'd never get anywhere! my BFF works at a gym daycare, but don't think she actually works out much... running after 3 kids is a pretty good workout everyday I would assume!

and DH is on the treadmill for 60 +/- minutes most days, so I guess he would count, too
